Amazing baked goods! Love the rustic sourdough and the croissants. Worth the wait if there is a line!

Sweet Life is exactly the kind of charming, old-fashioned ice cream and candy shop you hope to…read morestumble across in a beach town like Seabrook. The vibe inside is nostalgic and fun, but the absolute star of the show is their small-batch ice cream. I ordered the Salted Dulce de Leche, and it was hands-down some of the best ice cream I've had in a while. The texture was rich, creamy, and smooth--exactly what you want from high-quality, locally sourced ice cream. But the flavor is what really blew me away. It had a deep, caramelized, buttery sweetness from the dulce de leche, perfectly offset by just the right amount of sea salt to keep it from being overwhelmingly sugary. Every bite was the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Getting a scoop (or two!) of this and sitting on your balcony watching the waves roll in is the quintessential Seabrook experience. The staff was super friendly and let us sample a few flavors, but the Salted Dulce de Leche is the undisputed winner. Do not skip this place! Worth the calories!

There is a nice assortment of candies and at the front by the register they have chocolates that you can purchase. The only downside is the inconsistent offering of samples. When we came in yesterday, they were offering 2 samples for customers. Today when we went in, they said they weren't offering any samples.

That said...what a cute surprise! I'd seen this little shop on Google Maps a while back and tagged it, so when driving through on the way to Westport this past weekend, I knew we had to stop in. Being a fan of all things German (well...*almost* all things...there have been some questionable German things in the past, not gonna lie), I was pleased to discover all manner of goodies, from soups, sauces, sausages, schnitzels, breading, candies, cookies, breads, cake mixes, kitchenware, and probably a lot more that I'm forgetting. The shop sprawls through several rooms, eventually to the cold cases and checkout counter in the back, where there also appears to be a deli where you can order sandwiches and other quick favorites, although it didn't appear to be open during our visit. I don't foresee myself stopping in South Bend often, but when I do, I will be visiting Jayden's every single time. The shopkeep (who I am assuming is the aforementioned Jayden) was friendly and engaging, and I'm just a huge fan of any shop that does something different, unique and interesting. Anything is better than a big box market, and few boutique markets are as cute as this place. Wunderbar!

I am German and although I grew up in Seattle, I enjoyed many of these products growing up visiting my relatives in Germany every few years. The woman was super friendly and spoke German which was like a breath of fresh air in this country. The selection of dry goods, candy, beverages, and fresh meats/fish from Germany and/or made the German way were amazing! She also makes fresh sandwiches. If a person is familiar with Germany and is passing through this area, this place is a must-stop. We can't wait to visit here again some day!
