They now have ParkMobile so you can pay via app for this garage. The zone is 9913 in case you want to see pricing. When I went, it was to see a comedian at the Tampa Theatre so it was a flat $15, which came out to $15.35, no matter how long you parked. (I'm actually not sure if the comedian was the reason it was "event parking", but I didn't see a ton of people going elsewhere.) That's kind of annoying, but it is what it is. I'm pretty lucky that we live in the suburbs so I'm not used to paying for parking. This lot is three blocks from the Tampa Theatre so super convenient. There's only one way out, so I bet when it's an actual busy night it will be hard to get out, but we had no issues. I'm just glad that there is a convenient covered garage so that I don't have to go looking for street parking. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT take the stairs! Parking is convenient and affordable (more so than other nearby garages), but the bridge to the Straz is gone now, so you have to go to the street to get there...and the elevators are too small to accommodate 5 expansive floors of vehicle patrons. The stairwell smells like a beach bathroom that's been urinated on/in a thousand times and never cleaned. It's soooo bad. That and the blood stains covered in something foamy at the bottom of one step made me want to puke. Exiting is a nightmare. Allow yourself 46-60 minutes during an event to exit if you're not parked on ground level. read more

Very convenient parking spot for Straz Center, minutes away from the venue!! I see the horrible reviews for this garage but it's 2022 now and ParkMobile app makes everything so much easier and efficient- I love that you can pay for parking on your phone and can extend your time if needed. Typically I am used to paying by plate for street parking but I was unaware that parking garages now enforce this as well. My husband and I had tickets to see Hadestown for our anniversary last weekend and we had pre-paid for parking thru ParkMobile a week before the event. Two days before, we were notified via voice-mail and email that there would be a Santa parade and holiday festivities on Ashley street so we needed to take a different route getting in. The day of, we made sure to leave an hour early but we were still hit with heavy traffic downtown. Thankfully the Poe garage was the closest to the venue. We missed the opening song but thankfully it only took us 5 minutes to run over to the show. read more

I'm being completely object with this review despite my dislike of downtown traffic, my dislike of being late due to traffic and no parking, and my dislike of having to pay for parking. I get that all of the above are necessary evils if you want to live and or/ play downtown. There is just not enough street parking to accomodate the throngs of folks in this very popular area near Curtis-HIxon Waterfront park; that being said, this garage has some pretty big issues that kept it from getting an average rating. One way or no way. You have to ensure you come near this garage from the correct direction, because if you miss the turn, it will be nearly impossible to get back in. You have to turn around, go past it, way past it, and then give it another go. There is no left hand turn into this garage. Bring your Seguey. That's about the only thing that's going to fit into the parking spots here. I have a compact car, and I had to try 3 different spots before I found one where I could actually get out of my car, even with the side mirrors folded. Corner confusion. There are parking spots along a 2 way corner. I saw a near crash where an SUV (how the flip did YOU get in here?!?!) came around a blind corner and almost hit a car backing out of a corner spot. Valet. A huge swath of prime parking spots are marked "valet only." So, a parking garage has valet? Defeats the purpose. Unless you mean I could be at an event elsewhere and my valet is going to have to run up here, extract my car, and then drive back to me after making a U-Turn. Mad dash. You pay at a bizarre kiosk thing, not at the exit. Here's the kicker: once you pay, the clock starts! You have a certain amount of time to get to your vehicle and leave, or you get a penalty. If you forgot something back at the bar you were at, such as your car keys or a friend passed out in the bathroom, get ready to pony up a bit more coin. read more

We went to an event and parked at the parking garage. You had to pay to enter and you had to present your card to exit. This caused a huge problem leaving. If I would have known leaving the parking garage was going to take 30 minutes- I would have parked further away. The garage could really benefit from opening the gates and letting people out quickly after events (especially given that you had to pay a flat fee to enter). read more

I hate the pre-pay machines. They seem to befuddle most people trying to use them, causing a line to form at the machine. I miss the days when you could simply take a ticket upon entry and pay at the exit gate. read more

Horrible design and signage that is incredibly unclear. Any other garage in America, you pay as you enter it as you leave. Nope, not this one. You pay be plate like you're at a parking meter. I literally walked down stairs, missed one sign on a Pilar and got a $30 ticket. Most garages in Florida that say Pay by Plate scan your license plate. Here in Tampa it's a municipal money grab that gives me a terrible taste in how the city I once love now functions. I was literally walking the riverwalk thinking I'd love to move back. This really soured my experience and I live in a big city and very used to downtown and garage parking. read more

This is a conflicting review as it's perfectly placed to park around tampa downtown, especially for Curtis Hixon park and straz center. It's just a chaos during big events and I don't think they put a lot of thought in it when the built the parking garage. read more

Super confusing parking garage. The signs say that you can pay on the app but no where does it say what app it is that you can pay on. Thankfully someone had just parked and they knew. It's ParkMobile. Also, the parking spots are extremely thin. read more

Convenient location, BUT make sure you read the signs for parking and enter license plate number and pay in advance. It's not like airport parking where you enter info on the way out. Learned the hard way and have a $30 ticket that I will pay for my mistake. Sure wish directions would have been clearer as I entered the garage. Great location to park near the Straz but a total cluster to get out of. If everyone pre-paid on the way in (creating a massive backup), why make everyone stop on the way out and scan their ticket again? Open the gates and get a police officer to manage the flow. This appears to be a City of Tampa owned garage. Given that, may I suggest that the mayor who so quickly and regularly touts all the benefits and greatness of Tampa visit this hole. It is expensive. $10 for 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Seriously? Ah, but if you had a few less staff perhaps your expenses might be in line with what they should be, but alas it appears to be a full employment program by the City of Tampa. Shameful how many employees were working on Sunday afternoon, with some of them less than competent, unable to get the gate to open to let people out. The stairwells stink, like they do in big cities. How hard would be to have someone go in there say twice a year with a power washer and some chlorine and blast the heck out of them, to clean them up, and get the stench out, and wash the doors. Soon, you are going to have a patron who will become permanently stuck to one of the doors as they are so blasted dirty and sticky. Disgusting! And, when Mayor Buckhorn is over checking out this place, lets have him do it while it is raining, and have him try to get from his car to the Straz Theatre. First off, how in the world, does a covered parking garage end up with water fully covering parts of the garage, so you can't walk from your car to the elevator/stairwell without having to swim through water? Then, walk in the covered (LOL) walkway from the garage to the Straz...It has so many leaks dripping down on you, you'd be better off walking in the rain itself. The rain at least would be cleaner than the water that is seeping through all the crack and dripping on you. Then there is the actual floor of the walkway, that is slippery and uneven. Downright dangerous! Followed by tiny closet sized elevators at each end, one of which had so much water on the floor you had to wonder what was going on. This is an embarrassment to the City of Tampa, and is a direct reflection on the head of the fish...Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Where is the pride? read more

Poor design makes it difficult to exit the garage after a show. Vehicles have to veer into the oncoming lane at pretty much every corner. When attempting to exit the garage after a Sunday afternoon show, we moved only 1/4 of a car length in 20 minutes (not an exaggeration). We finally gave up and re-parked, and walked to dinner to wait out the traffic nightmare. When exiting the garage 90 minutes later (and before there was a lot of traffic for the evening show), every oncoming vehicle at every corner veered into our lane (mostly because of the limited room while navigating the corners). Do yourself a favor, park somewhere else and walk to the Straz or Riverwalk. read more

Be very careful parking in this garage. They will take your money at the gate and not warn you that there are "valet" spots. Make sure you look at all signs before you park even if you pay at the gate. The parking fine is $30 and will go up another $10 if you do not pay it within 14 days. read more

We used this garage while attending a Sunday night performance at one of the small Strazz theaters which happened to be the only theater open that night. We received a parking ticket for parking on the line. There were only 3 cars parked on the entire level we were on. Since this is a very large garage and practically empty I felt it was outrageous to get a ticket for such a petty thing and was sure they would rescend it. NOPE. The Strazz and Parking Authority could have cared less. read more
