This is a gorgeous estate!! My wife and I visited around 11:00 Tuesday AM and we were the only ones there! The tastings were $40 each and we were given 2 whites and 2 reds. We sipped these wines outside in the beautiful sunshine overlooking this beautiful vineyard Neither my wife and I are huge white wine drinkers, but the Simpatico red blend was delicious...and at $50 it was one of the better values of our whole trip (Napa ain't cheap all!!). We bought 2 bottles which allowed us to have one of the tastings comped! read more

We went for a tasting here on a whim. We were greeted and assisted by Danielle. Danielle was lovely, knowable, enthusiastic, funny and very personable. We went through the flight and particularly enjoyed the 2020 Chardonnay, which was medium bodied with subtle hints of butter that didn't slap us in our face. The winner, winner, chicken dinner was the 2019 Cabernet. Although it may seem young the wine was well balanced and super approachable. This place is such a throwback to "old Napa" and that's a high compliment. The only thing that's over the top is the wine. Everything else is laid back and down home. Friendly, knowledgeable people pouring very fairly priced wine. The winemaker, Chuck McKahn is a young up and coming Napa superstar. I've been drinking the wines for a while and they were always good but have gotten exponentially better with each vintage the last few years. We loved their small production wines, my husband and I (with our dog) were visiting St Helena and on our way home stopped at this dog friendly winery. We were glad We did, this was a very pleasant experience in Napa, Megan is a sweetheart and also the young guy in the tasting room. They were very knowledgeable of their wines and they treated us as if we were Club members! We definitely recommend this winery, there is a $25 tasting fee waived with purchase and believe me, you are gonna want to take home a few bottles. Note: before stopping there i had read one not very favorable yelp review but I've learned to try places on my own and not to take some yelpers seriously, I just don't understand why yelp sometimes brings up a bad review made months ago to be first on view, I am glad I didn't follow that person's judgement. read more

I can't believe this isn't on yelp yet. Part of me wants to leave it that way so this place won't be spoiled by crowds, but my desire to share my appreciation for this winery is too great. William Harrison is a small family winery and my favorite to visit on the Silverado Trail. I can't leave without coning a member of my party into buying a bottle of the Estate Cabernet. It's half the price and just as good as overhyped Silver Oak's. The tasting room is essentially a log cabin complete with a stuffed bear. It's location on the trail makes it accessible enough that you don't need to go out of the way to get there, yet the tasting room is far enough off the main road that it feels like it's in a valley all it's own. There are tables out front where you can nibble on a snack and relax outside. this isn't the kind of place that frowns on outside food. The staff are always friendly and seem like they've been there for years. The experience here is more relaxed than anywhere else in Napa. It's a true gem. read more

Stopped by for a tasting a few weeks ago while visiting family in St. Helena. Anyway, pretty good wines. I can't say that I was knocked off my feet by their vinos. I'd say they're all pretty good, not fantastic. It's a small production winery. The person who poured for me was knowledgeable and explained to me nuances and small details about the winery and it's owners. I appreciated the details. Every once in a while you find yourself tasting somewhere where the pourer is more consumed with their own knowledge of wine then the vino he/she is trying to sell. That wasn't the case at WM Harrison. But overall I wasn't hugely impressed. In any case, it's worth stopping by for your own take on it. During our trip to Napa, we came to William Harrison Vineyards for their 2017 bud-break party. The winery is a small family-owned lot with great views! It's a pretty different setting than other wineries in the area, as it's very casual and laid back. Although there's a lot of grounds to roam around, there isn't a lot of seating. A couple of picnic tables and tabletops, but for the most part we had to stand around and try the wines. They also have a bocce ball court and several cornhole boards set up for playing. As much as I enjoyed the wines and easygoing atmosphere, I wasn't a fan of standing in the sun without shade or seating for several hours. read more

What does "American owned" have to do with anything? I don't care who owns the winery as long as the wine tastes good. And William Harrison's wines were not good at all. We had a short amount of time to fill between our two scheduled winery visits and most wineries in this part of Napa Valley require appointments. Without an appointment, we were turned away at another winery and decided to take what we can get, which was William Harrison. That turned out to be a mistake. At one point during the tasting, the woman helping us asked what types of wines do we like. I said I like pinots and her response was "oh, then you're going to like this one." Just because it was a pinot does not automatically mean I'm going to like it. In fact, I really disliked it. I also disliked the sauvignon blanc, the chardonnay, and the estate cabernet sauvignon. The red blend was ok but certainly not for $85. There's a reason this place doesn't require appointments. read more

So, i was hosting a tour for my close friends from the east coast about a week ago and we started with a couple of wineries that required appointments. (Pride, Schramsberg, and Opus One) During the time we were driving to other wineries i kept raving about William Harrison Winery, i told them how it was going blow all the other wineries out of the water. its a hidden gem with AMAZING wines, amazing hospitality, and REALLY hoping Steve the wine educator was still there so he can work his magic of my peeps. So i saved the best for last. We drive down the drive way and we showed up around 3 o'clock. my friends think its some kind of saloon from the wild wild west. We walk in and there was no one behind the bar, so we stood around for like 5-10 mins and this blonde lady come out and greets us and asks if we had an appointment. we told her no, we didn't. so she gave us the talk about the pricing and flight coast. i told her that we needed a sec to situate the plan of attack. She stood there and kinda looked us up and down like she didn't care to much for our business or she would rather go back to what she was doing. Well anyway we ended up doing flights, she talked about the wines and Paso Robles a lot and comparing wines from down there for some reason we had no idea why but she seemed to know her stuff from Paso Robles. WEIRD. We were almost done with our flights and asked if we could enjoy our wine outside, she says yes. So, as soon as we sat down I got bashed on by my friends about the winery, wines, and especially the hospitality that older blonde lady gave us was nonexistent and I totally agreed with them. Next time, i need to ask what days Steve works before showing up. Wasnt the same experience like my last visit, i was pretty bummed. read more

On a trip to Napa Valley, this was one of the best, if not the best winery I visited. The vineyard is a family owned facility with its own growth and production on its own land. The building itself is historic and rustic looking and very all american! The tasting was a great experience. Sitting outside in the warm California sun drinking the fruits of this lands labors with great friends was one of the highlights of my trip and I'm glad I got to experience it here. The staff was very knowledgable of their products and had very generous pours for the tasting. As a big Pinot Noir fan, their 2009 was the highlight of my day. A tour of the facility and the cellar room was also very informative and we actually had a chance to taste some wine that was fermenting in the French Oak barrels from the crop that had been picked the year before. Again, a generous pour. This vineyard is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the stop. It's quiet, calm and very peaceful and the prices of wine are reasonable. read more

Okay, this is one of those really special gems that makes you not want to write a review, but in this case William Harrison really deserves some praise. First I have been to all the typical wineries up and down the Silverado Trail including the public spots and the 100 plus bottle by appointment places. WH is for SERIOUS WINE DRINKERS, nothing right now is as good as William Harrison in Napa for taste, price, experience. It also is so low key and approachable it works for everyone. First time I went here it was by mistake as I was using their driveway to turn around and then decided to stop in for a quick taste. I almost did not go in as the winery itself is extremely low budget (part of the charm). I am so glad I did. Beyond the friendly service, fantastic price points, and relaxed atmosphere - THE WINES ARE TOP NOTCH! I actually ran out to my wife and told her she needed to come in and check this place out. Pinot - They have a sonoma coast pinot that blows away anything produced East of 101. Tasted like something you would have in Sebastapol or Guernville. Cabernet - As good as any Cabernet including Caymus, Stag's Leap, Joseph Phelps, Duckhorn, Cakebread, etc. but at a much better price point. Probably a little more drinkable now than some listed, with some potential down the road. Simpatico - Blend varietal table wine that is another real gem and less than $30.00 We bought 6 bottles for 235 (less than 40 a bottle). This is a must visit in the Napa Valley! There is not a wine that isn't amazing, although I'm partial to their red blend! Their Cab is amazing too! Worst customer service ever!we just stopped there at 4:40pm and were trying to find wines to ship to friends on east coast New to them, told by staff " not serving anymore" even though sign says serving until 5pm. Never have we had this reaction especially from new winery we we're trying . Owners need to get a clue! You may have just lost a huge sale, you never know! Really 20 minutes until close . All we wanted was newtasting and possible shipment to our friends of some great wine. Stopped at two other wineries and wanted to end our visit here which were new wines to us.
