I've been having severe lowerback pain coupled with either misaligned or dislocated joints or muscles. My name is Salvador Mota. In mid October of 2021 I was having severe pain in my back where I was having alot of issues even to walk. I was seeing Dr. Thomas for therapy for about a month prior to this. My problem walking was increasing by the week. Dr.Thomas referred me to SHIN IMAGING CENTER in the city of Buena Park CA. When I made an appointment the procedure was done. For the record Instructions had already been made by Dr.THOMAS.The people there had already been expecting me since they asked if I was Dr. Thomas patient. I said "yes".so I received the MRI that Dr. Thomas had requested. The MRI was done in approximately 30 to 35 minutes. When I went back to Dr.Thomas' office. He had received my Mri images. I was told and shown that I had a herniated lower back disc. Dr. Thomas said I had 2 options...Spinal cord decompression or surgery. First of all I'm a man who had no insurance and I have to work to provide for my 3 kids. Surgery was gonna put me out of work for about a year. This is what it came to my mind. I had no choice but to choose option 1 Spinal cord decompression. Dr.Thomas assured me that I was gonna be able to get better with this therapy. His service was 4000.00 but because I took all my savings out of the bank to pay 3200.00 cash...this would save me 20% of the 4000.00. This therapy was for 20 visits. Each and every visit I was experiencing severe pain but I thought I was getting better from my herniated disc. At this point I could barely walk. Dr. Thomas saw this but his main objective was for me to finish my therapy (which he saw that it was doing nothing to get me better).He was already talking about adding more therapy sessions even if they were not getting me to walk better. On Sunday 1-8-2022 when I went to use the restroom my legs felt frozen. I felt in the restroom and I panic! I thought I was getting paralyzed from my waist down. My roommate rushed me to UCI Orange Er. I was very afraid of not been able to walk again. I explained everything that I was going through. The Doctors there were very concerned so they took an Mri that it took approximately an hour and 15 minutes. About 1 hour after Dr Bow who's a neurologist told me that my upper spinal cord was squeeze and that's why I had problems walking. He said surgery was a must right away. Because my problem was going to get worse. He said that if I would fall or get into an accident while driving I would end up paralyzed. I was in shock since I had never even been admitted to hospital...now getting surgery was scary! I agreed to have the operation. On 1-10-22 (Monday) at approximately 12:25 pm was operated on. I woke up around 3:30 pm. I started crying when as I woke up I started moving my toes! All my toes! Recovery is slow but I can walk now as of 3-4-2022. My legs are stron now and I can walk about 75% normal.The surgery I had is called "c 1 Anterior Cerivival Corpectomy ". I went back to Dr. Thomas to see if I could get my money back. He said that he was not refunding my money back because my surgery wasn't even necessary according to him. Dr. Thomas could of damaged my spinal cord by stretching it with his therapy. Spinal decompression can probably work in so many cases. My point to Dr.Thomas was that his Mri didn't show me the real problem with spinal cord. Or else I would never spent my last dollar with him. The purpose of sharing my experience so nobody goes through the pain that Dr.Thomas therapy was getting me through...nobody else experience it in the hands of someone like Dr.Thomas . Dr Thomas is great! He treated my 10 month old. She cried every time she was in her car seat, started arching her back a lot and went 4 nights without sleeping more than an hour or two. She also had a double ear infection a few weeks before he saw her. After a few minor adjustments she stopped crying in her car seat and started sleeping through the night again. He also showed me how to help her ears drain better. He was very thorough in his explanation of his practice and treatment. I had a back pain for a good two weeks, I was finally fed up with it and decided to go see a chiropractor. Im so glad I came here. I was able to walk right in without an appointment. Greeted by the receptionist who had me fill out a quick two page form and within no time I was in to see Dr. T. I walked in, I explained my pain, he did a series of test and quickly identify the problem. He then had me step into a another room where a massage bed was. He had me lay on it for a good 15 mins. It was pure bliss to feel instant relief on my back. After that quick loosing up of the muscles as he called it, I was adjusted. I'm going to start off by saying I do not like chiropractors! BUT Dr Thomas is so awesome. I came in reluctantly to get a 2nd opinion on a shoulder injury from a snowboard fall. I kept coming back because well he gave me awesome advice, fixed me up and his treatment seemed to be the only thing working well for me. While I was here I mentioned off handedly that I was experiencing severe headaches while I slept and thru out the day. At the time I was seeing a couple different doctors and none of them really took me seriously. He found the root cause to be related to me grinding my teeth and how it affected a lot of other things. All in all he recommended a few different treatments and from day one when I tried those no more mind numbing headaches. Always being a guy that loved to self diagnose myself I thought I had issues with blood pressure or just some kind of health imbalance. He pointed and steered me in the green and now I am a regular taking all advice he gives without 2nd guessing. I never gave or thought about having a go to chiropractor but now I am sold. Any kind of weird pain or kinks I have I come to see him for his advice and see what he can do. If he isn't able to help he certainly can recommend something that can improve life. If you need a chiropractor and are local, try him. You will definitely not regret the decision. I'm fairly active, I play golf, paintball, snowboard and amongst many other things do crazy things. This was my first time going to a chiropractor and I was very nervous as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by a girl working the front desk named Vanessa she took my temperature and made sure I had no covid like symptoms the office was extremely clean and you can tell they were taking covid very seriously, I had lots of questions and Vanessa explained everything to me and really helped calm my nerves. When the doctor came to my room he made sure to ask lots of questions to understand my back/ neck problems and explained to me how the treatment would work. I felt very comfortable it really helped that they took the time to explain everything to me. Unfortunately I was very tense so I asked the doctor for anything I could do to help relax before my next visit he referred their massage therapist Lindsey, I came a few days later and explained to her my issues and changed my 30 minute massage to an hour because I could really feel it working during the massage. Lindsey was able to make my feel very comfortable and took the time to make sure it wasn't to hard for me afterI left there I could feel my neck and shoulders felt much better. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Thomas and his staff. On Christmas Eve of 2021, I woke up with pain in my lower back. By noon on that day the pain increased to the point where I could barely walk. This developed into a Sciatic condition with pain from my lower back down to my left knee. I had never experienced this kind of pain in my back. I had also developed pain from my neck down my right arm to my fingers as well. I went to Urgent Care and ER on two separate occasions and received injections into my lower back and medication which did nothing for me. On New Years Day I could barely get off the floor and was in tears. I would say my pain level was at a "9" out of 10 as I struggled to walk. I could hardly function and the sleepless nights were many. I was able to see Dr. Thomas during the first week of the year and I was able to get two MRI's shortly thereafter and it revealed I had five bulging and herniated discs in my lower back and three bulging discs in my neck as well as other conditions. Some of the discs were hitting my nerves which was causing my pain in my neck and arm as well as pain down my back and leg. Dr. Thomas was thorough in reviewing my MRI's and film with my wife and I and answered all of our questions. He introduced us to Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD). I got very little help from the medical side except for Physical Therapy. I could not get an appointment to see a specialist until weeks later. After researching medical reviews and studies from reputable websites I opted to try the NSSD though Dr. Thomas as I could wait no longer for an appointment to see an Orthopedic Doctor. Their was an out of pocket cost as my insurance did not cover this kind of treatment, but I never felt as though he was trying to sell me something. He just laid out all the facts and options to me. After the fourth treatment I started to feel relief in my leg and after the 11th session all of my pain was gone in my lower back and leg. I did a round of 20 treatments and then began a second round of 20 for Non-Surgical Cervical Decompression (NSCD) for my neck which has also helped tremendously. After four treatments along with P.T. I have not had any pain in my neck, arm and fingers in almost a month. When I finally got to see an orthopedic surgeon he strongly suggested I get back and neck surgery as soon as possible, even though the treatments were rendering a positive result. My P.T. specialist and many fiends in the medical field strongly recommended that I avoid surgery as only a last resort after I tried other treatments. Since the results from NSSD and NSCD have been very good, I don't even need to consider surgery. The therapist who has been working on my neck states he has seen the positive results and said to keep it going. Many others who had seen me during the holidays also noticed the difference. I feel better than before my back and neck pain hit me. The staff of Venessa and Jamie have also been very helpful with the treatments and setting up the billing arrangements. Many thanks to them and their encouragement. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Thomas for his counsel and help with the special Decompression machine and equipment he purchased for those in my situation as well as his genuine concern for my personal well being. He was an answer to my prayers. I have already recommended him to others who are having issues similar to mine and will continue to recommend him to others in the future. read more
