The Williams Sonoma store we used to have in Orland Park closed, and we have to drive into greater Chicagoland to find one ... so it was a pleasant serendipity to find one here in Charlotte. Typical nice selection of items for your home, and we hit it on a day when the All-Clad merchandise was on sale. We ended up getting a frittata set at a great price. Nice big clean store with helpful staff, and a good selection of classy brands besides their own. We'll be back here next time we're in Charlotte. Great place for gifts. read more

Complaint: Seeking Full Refund for Defective Milk Frother - Poor Customer Service at Williams-Sonoma On June 10, 2025, I purchased two Nespresso Aeroccino 4 Milk Frothers from Williams-Sonoma, totaling $300.19, for use at a commercial client site where one of our machines had failed. One of the frothers (retail price $119.95) did not perform to the capacity needed, and I returned it to the store on June 16. Upon return, I was met with an insolent and dismissive team member who informed me that because the item was "lightly used," I could not receive a refund--only a store credit for $128.65. I explained that this was unacceptable. There was no clear communication at the time of purchase that light use would void the ability to return the product for a full refund. How else was I supposed to evaluate the equipment's performance if not by testing it? The representative became condescending, telling me I "should have observed a demo model in-store" before purchasing. That comment, while perhaps technically true, came far too late--after I had already made the purchase. I asked to escalate the matter and speak to a manager, and she claimed she was the manager. However, she then called over another employee, who simply repeated the same rigid store policy back to me in a patronizing tone, as though I hadn't understood the first time. This approach was offensive and only added to the frustration. It is completely unfair to expect customers to retain equipment that fails to perform its intended function simply because it was opened and used once. This was not a matter of buyer's remorse--it was a product that failed to meet the needs of a professional setting, and I attempted to resolve it promptly. I am seeking a full refund of $119.95 for the returned milk frother. A store credit is not acceptable under these circumstances. I trusted Williams-Sonoma to stand by their products and treat customers with respect, but this experience fell far short on both counts. read more

I was in Charlotte this past weekend and attended the demo. Eric always does a great job providing information on the products he is using. I asked Eric about a green pan that I had previously purchased because it was smoking. He informed me that ceramic pans should be cleaned approximately every two weeks with a Magic Eraser. This advice was great because I was about to throw these pans. Kudos to Eric and the staff. They are always great and go above and beyond to ensure all your questions are answered. read more

While my items were set aside and the person that took care of me was polite, the staring was so uncomfortable! The other ladies just stared at us. The person helping us assumed we were using a Williams Sonoma credit card but it was west elm (she never asked). She then felt it her duty to let us know it was also a regular credit card as if we didn't know. I'm 46 years old and very aware of how to use the cards in my wallet. read more

In Charlotte we have an assortment of different interior decor and design stores. I really like most of them. West+Elm, Crate and Barrel, IKEA (for the more budget conscious of us). But Williams-Sonoma seemed a bit far-fetched. I'd say it's comparable to Crate and Barrel in terms of price and types of items. Lots of kitchen wares, cookware and decor. And they do seem to change it up some with the seasons. For starters, the layout of this store doesn't flow well so I didn't feel drawn about like I could in other similar stores. It's really easy to miss something in here and hard to tell where one theme ends and the next begins. Prices were of course quite steep so that puts this well out of my price range in my current place in the world. And of course some things in here can be a bit over the top, as is the case with these kinds of places. Like, do you really need a kitchen tool whose niche purpose is just to pull the leaves out of a strawberry? I mean I could understand the need in a restaurant or catering kitchen but things like this may be the epitome of unnecessary extravagance these days. read more

I ordered a $350+ coffee maker because it wasn't available in the store. My credit card was immediately charged. It's been a full work week and the online system still tells me that my item is "preparing to ship". Customer service gave the excuse that they are behind on their orders because of COVID and couldn't assure me when the order might ship. They clearly aren't properly staffed to handle mail orders, so I wouldn't buy anything from W-S unless you can find it in the store. Hopefully they can process a cancelation if it doesn't ship soon. read more

Oh how I wanted to like Williams-Sonoma. I have never been inside a Williams-Sonoma and the day I received my gift card for Christmas, I was excited and thrilled to finally get a chance to shop the beloved kitchen mega store. My hubs and I walked in and I started down the side walls ooo-ing and aaah-ing over the different cooking and kitchen items. One item after the other I picked up, looked at the price, then placed it back on the shelf. Wow...a bit pricey. I kept searching and searching for ONE item that I could get but I knew that I could probably get it else where (same brand) for a lot less. I was realizing that my little gift card would not go very far in this store. I started to leave until I caught a glimpse of a stainless steel cookware set. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap, but I knew that I needed a stainless steel pan and this one came with two. SO....I tossed and turned the box set over and over looking for a price. I looked around the store for an employee to see if I could get some help on pricing. Nothing. One lady walked passed me and went to another display rack to adjust and straighten the items on it. I thought she probably didn't see me so I walked up to her and politely asked if she could assist me with pricing and she shewed me towards the front counter. Awkwardly I walked up to the counter and the lady behind the register said that I had to get in line if I wanted to know a price. Not saying a word, I placed the pans in front of her and slowly walked out. I was so embarrassed. So, needless to say I'm still with gift card and will probably use it online for a spatula or something. -__- read more

I came here to look for a few sauces for stir fry and pasta and maybe a few knick knack things. I came around 11am on a weekday and they weren't busy at all. This lady walked in a few seconds before me and I heard she was greeted and helped. When I walked in, I didn't get greeted or asked if I needed any help. I walked around the store looking around and finally someone asked me if I was "looking for something" but I didn't get the same friendly and warm greeting as the others. Also, I appreciate that they offer live and free demonstrations on how to cook certain dishes. The time I stopped in was when they were making a quiche or something. I freaking love shopping for cookware and kitchen gear! However I am a practical cook and one use items (I'm looking at you garlic presses) have no use in my drawers. However there is a wide selection of other items that will be sure to satisfy your chef aspirations. The store is laid out in kind of an odd shape as on this visit I was looking for their open kitchen dinnerware collection and must have spent about 15 minutes looking around the dinner plates section. I finally was bored of wandering around the store and decided to go up and go to the cashier stand to ask for help locating what I wanted. Well you know how that works as it was right there next to front desk leaving me feeling a little silly. Unfortunately they still didn't have any of the dinnerware I needed. What's up with square plates and bowls? Who really wants to eat on such angular pieces anyways? Give me a nice smooth circle any day I say! Anyways the store employees here won't ask to help you here even if you are the only one in the store and wandering around looking lost 30 minutes before closing. However they are a bit more helpful once you walk up and ask for help. The lady helping me offered to order them to the store and waive the shipping costs which is nice I guess. If you come here ask for help early instead of trying to look for what you need cause the store layout is weird and they operate on a help those who help themselves type of style. read more

I'm normally a Sur la Table guy when it comes to fancy cooking stores. I've been into Williams-Sonoma once or twice before, but I never think to go in on a regular basis. However, when I recently needed some kitchen twine (which is surprisingly hard to track down), I decided to pop into Williams-Sonoma on my way home so that I wouldn't have to enter the mall proper. I ended up regretting my decision. I found the twine--for $8. Ok, I said, that's expensive for string, but I'm tired of running around, and it comes in a dispenser with a cutter that I can reuse. So yes, I said, I'm going to buy the damn string. I take my purchase up to the register and greet the cashier. in return I get "Is that really all you're buying?" I was shocked. This wasn't being-a-good-cashier-and-offering-help. This was why-are-you-wasting-my-time-you-moron. I'm sure you can imagine my shock when she repeated this demand once more before reluctantly checking me out. And even further shock when she snapped at me because I didn't want to give them my email address for an $8 purchase. I won't be back to this store in particular, and perhaps Williams-Sonoma in general. What the hell? read more

Williams Sonoma is a bit of a "window-shop only" type of joint on the regular, but on occasion I'll pick up a few small items here and there. All of the things I typically lustfully stare at are always so highly priced that is makes my heart sink. Came in a few weeks back for some bread baking tools. Needed a rolling pin and a new cutting board. The rolling pin was an easy find, but the cutting board selection was a little abysmal. We found one towards the front of the store that was on display. The place was slammed, but one of the employees happily walked to the back and picked it out for us. I was really surprised at how inexpensive it was, too. She didn't even try and throw in the annoying up-sell towards the end. Just asked if there was anything else we were looking for. There is a great selection of smaller drawer tools that you can sift through. This section typically reminds you of what you don't have and could use...or use another of. I think I like this location so much more than others because it's not located in the mall. I'm not much of a mall rat. Just don't like dealing with parking and crowds. I had to chuckle upon seeing Faith D's review, because I grew up with a W-S minutes from my home in south Florida and loved going to look at all the fancy gadgets as a kid - but why do I go to W-S now? To buy Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel comics cupcake liners and cookie cutters. Not that W-S doesn't have plenty of adult kitchen things to splurge on.. knives, one-task utensils you don't really need, beautiful stem and plateware, cookbooks galore, spices, salts, and bbq rubs, and some really awesome appliances that make me want to chuck my old cuisinarts out for, but sometimes do you feel like you're a fool for paying that much? Yes. Do I still really want the super speedy freeze pop maker? Yes. Service here is a little sub par, I was probably one of three customers in the store and it took an employee about five minutes to say anything to me. I would suggest doing research online before entering the store, as they seemed to know a lot about some products, but then neither employee was quick to respond to questions about the Thomas Keller product line they carry. I'll return for the specialty items, but if I'm in need of something I know Sur La Table also carries (or amazon.com), this won't be my first stop. read more

I needed a very particular sized pillow, two, and Williams-Sonoma was the only store to have this exact odd size. Visited the SouthPark location late afternoon a week ago and upon entering the establishment, one floor employee asked if I needed assistance. I quickly showed him the exact item I came to purchase via my cell. No problem, he said and quickly dashed off to the back of the store to locate it. After a few moments he found me and told me he'd taken the items to register. That seemed a bit ODD to me because I hadn't indicated I was ready to buy since I hadn't confirmed he'd found the correct items. I brushed it off and headed to the register where there was no salesclerk. After waiting an additional 5mins another employee finally appeared to check me out. I asked to see the items to visually confirm them (apparently they'd been placed out of sight) which he obliged. Both indeed matched my request so I approved the purchase. Weird, now that I think back, there was no normal checkout activity ... like ... I never saw this clerk ring up my purchase nor were there any indicators via the cash register this salesperson legitimately rang up my items. He just announced my total and I already had the CASH prepared to pay. I gave him the cash and he returned the expected change in coins . . . NOT FROM THE REGISTER . . . but from change already on the counter. I then expected him to bag my purchase then he gruffly said, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? His Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde split personality was ABRUPT and LOW KEY RUDE. I'm waiting for a bag of course, I replied. Then he said, YES . . . WELL . . . WE DON'T HAVE BAGS THAT SIZE TO GIVE YOU. Separate bags for each pillow would suffice IF that's the best WILLIAMS SONOMA and he could do but this very nasty clerk did not even offer me this! He'd gotten the CASH he wanted and was attempting to humiliate me to quickly GET ME OUT OF THE STORE!!! Nearly decent customer service on the front end only to be ENSNARED in a 2nd employee's POS check out scam on the back end. Smh. I want to buy the entire store but of course, can't afford it. I have a great experience each time I visit. And today, they went above and beyond. I had purchase a Breville juicer from them last week and then realized Bed Bath and Beyond had the same product so I called to see if they would allow those 20% off coupons. They said yes. I didn't want to return my used juicer to then buy it from the other store. So I called and Eric picked up the phone. Told him the whole thing. He found the tel # of the closest bed bath and beyond. He got my info and email and told me he would take care and to be in the lookout for a receipt of the refund in my email. Not even an hour later, it was resolved. Loved this! The men and women working here (at least a dozen that I saw) have no sense of urgency whatsoever. I came here to get my Global Knives and I left with a recipe book, a cutting board, crystal decanter (gem!), and a oil fragrance dispenser. They have almost everything you could ever want.
