For reasons of convenience, I was truly bummed knowing they were going to relocate the Michigan Avenue Williams-Sonoma to Lincoln Park. I loved stopping by the old Mag Mile location in between some light shopping at the 900 Shops and stuffing my face with sugary delights nearby at Sprinkles. However, I must say, I am truly impressed with this new location. It is quite close to the North/Clybourn red line station across from West Elm and Peet's Coffee to the north and near the North Avenue J.Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, and Whole Foods. It's a little off to the side so keep an eye out for a huge white building with green trimming and the gold lettering of "Williams-Sonoma." I've gone in a couple times and the staff were, as usual, very helpful and friendly. The new LP location features incredibly high ceilings, large windows, and bigger selections compared to its previous store. I do wish, however, that the staff were a little more in tune with store events. On a couple occasions I've asked about upcoming book signings or demonstrations and I've gotten confused looks. Nevertheless, I like the new location and I suppose for the cooking enthusiasts and lovers of all things "domestic", this new store is better placed since it's near Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Land of Nod, Restoration Hardware, etc. I mean, I think Martha Stewart and Ina Garten would approve! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They just return your items you purchased online with absolutely no communication whatsoever. Then they tell you tell you it'll take 10 business days to return to your card while I'm out of the item. Absolutely horrible company. read more

I was in this store on April 5, to purchase some items with my friend. I sat down in one of the chairs and a sales lady named Patricia approached me & roughly asked me why I was sitting there, what did I want, what were my intentions, I told her I am there shopping w a friend, & I was resting becuz I have bone cancer, it's hard to stand long periods of time. She responded my telling me Williams Sonoma doesn't allow anyone to sit in their chairs, her last question is do I live on the streets? How awful it was to be treated so unkindly. My fiance and I registered for our wedding here. The service was outstanding. Our appointment was on a Sunday at 10:00 am. The store opens at 11:00 am so we had a whole hour with the store to ourselves. Our appointment was with Joshua and he was excellent and really knows the store inside and out. We had all our questions answered and I really thought the service was just right. Highly recommended!!!! read more

Simply stated - this place is the WORST!!!! My wife and I go in for a simple paring knife...since it was locked and behind glass, we needed someone at the store to help...there were just two people at the register and for ten minutes, we watched each try to check out one customer each...COME ON Williams-Sonoma...are hiring idiots or are the idiots hiring idiots...why does it take 10 minutes to check out one person...this is not lala land...you need to run your business and move it fast...my wife and I saw the line for check out increase, almost to the door....we just left...you just lost a $100 sale today...nice work!!!!! read more

I am a huge fan of Williams Sonoma. I not only love their products but, I also love experience of the stores. I was looking forward to coming in for my purchase today, but I was disappointed by the overly bitter attitude of the man at the register who clearly did not want to be there. He was the guy in a blue shirt with marks all over his arms. He clearly did not want to be there. His horrible attitude translated into a really diminished experience for me as his clear desire to not be there soured his mood and actions. read more

I'm not one to go out of my way to write a review but I felt compelled to share my experience. In the past month I've been in and out of the store multiple times to exchange/return gifts we received from our wedding. Each time with receipts in hand and it has taken the associates up to 20 minutes to figure out how to do the exchange or return. Shouldn't this process be simple as it is very inconvenient to have someone with receipt in hand stand there for an extensive amount of time? I was also disappointed to find out upon my return, I would not be given a gift card and had to wait 3-5 business days for it to be mailed to me. Seems pretty ridiculous when trying to spend money in the store! To top it off, the associate helping me was extremely rude and called me a condescending name. Really unfortunate and hopefully you can take note to improve your experience for others. read more

Store is beautiful but while it seemed like there were a lot of staff members in the store it took a long time to get anyone to help us. We ended up bringing the display item to cash register so cashier could get the item from stock. Also parking is tight. read more

The return policy here is only within 30 days! No refund or merchandise credit is offered! No idea the policy changed. Also, staff here is not as helpful as others. Location is awful. read more

I love Williams Somona but I tried to order an omelette pan for my cookware collection. I had someone from the Deer Park IL location help me to locate a store that had it in stock. The helpful associate at Deer Park and I called the Lincoln Park location and gave them all my information to ship the pan. We were told the order was taken care of and I would receive an email... Very next day I receive a message that they forgot to get my 3 digit code on the back of my credit card. No big deal. I called back asking for Tracey. She was not there and they couldn't find my order. I gave all the information again and was told I would get a call back. No return call. Called again and talked to a manager who again couldn't find my order. Gave my information again and manager said I would get a call back for my credit card info. Two days and three phone calls later and no return call. So difficult to place a simple pan order. If you don't want my business, I will gladly take it elsewhere. read more

We registered with Williams Sonoma for our wedding. This store has a great selection and the staff is very attentive. Unfortunately, their return policy and registry policies are sub-par and inconvenient for customers. We went to return unopened items from our registry (with receipts and registry info) and learned that their return policy is 3 months- we were 4 months post our wedding. Every other store on our registry accepted returns at any point (Anthro, Nordstrom). Due to this policy, they insisted we must pick out an item in store that matched the price of our returned items. They would not give a gift card for us to shop at our leisure. After we picked out our replacement item, the process to return and exchange took 1 hour at the register. When customers have receipts and registry listings, this process should be fluid and easy. I'm shocked that staff is not trained to handle something as simple as an exchange. We were very disappointed in our experience. Especially considering that our registry gave WS a lot of revenue, we expected to be treated better and would have hoped that WS would stand behind their products and offer unlimited exchange time. read more

This new location and store are tremendously inconvenient and so much less than the Michigan Avenue store. First, there is absolutely no parking. The tiny lot is shared with Anthropologie, plus here is limited street parking and any decent lot is a trek. There is an expensive alternative across the street but WS does not validate as they did at the 900 building so you will wind up paying a lot and/or walking a long way just to get to the store which is understaffed and the selections are far more limited than the old store. The store is not all that busy but paying for anything is a major pain because they simply do not have enough help. I was a huge fan of WS but I am over it. I am switching to Sur La Table. read more

I am not one to write negative reviews about a companies policies having worked in retail before however the treatment I received by a middle aged tall dark haired male associate on 6/15/17 was so horrible I felt compelled to share. I lost a gift card but had the receipt after calling corporate I was told if I brought in the receipt they could check the balance. When I brought up the question to the male associate he was EXTREMELY rude, dismissive and aggressive ushering me out of the store with his gestures since we were close to the front saying "it was as if I lost cash and it's not their problem". How did he know that I wouldn't have continued to shop regardless of the status of my missing gift card? He clearly did not even bother to fully understand or listen to my question. I am mid twenties and a real estate broker so between about 7+ weddings a year and many client gifts I was a regulaw WS customer but from now on I will be taking my business elsewhere! This William Sonoma is by far the WORST WS store that I have ever shopped in. This is based on 4 different shopping experiences in this store. I know any business can have a bad day! This store has had the same issues every time I have visited it. Product is generally not priced, no one knows about the promotions that were e-mailed to me that day. The product is not displayed on the floor. The store has damaged product out and is dirty. I know WS is a good operator, but this location is a painful reminder that without the right local leadership, things go down hill fast. This store needs an overhaul in a serious way. read more

I will never advise anyone to shop with Williams-Sonoma after my experience with them. I ordered a gift online to send as a Christmas gift for my in-laws. 2 months later I get a phone call telling me that the product is no longer available. Thank you Williams-Sonoma for not only the worst service and headache of a lifetime, but also for embarrassing me with my new in-laws who I have been telling to expect a great gift in the mail for nearly a month and a half. Products are seemingly wonderful, however, it's a shame I'll never shop there again. I would not dare set myself up for such disappointment again. When I approached the counter to ask a question the associate standing there gave a half hearted smile, pointed to his Nespresso apron, and in a condescending tone asked if I had a Nespresso question, I answered no and he quickly looked away, not offering any other assistance or directing me to someone who could answer my question... very unwelcoming and rude, especially considering I was the only customer in the area. When I was able to track down another associate they were more helpful but still not overly friendly or accommodating, I expected better. read more

Looking at the other reviews and after an experience today at the Highland Park store there seems to be a pattern of putting up discount signs next to merchandise to which the discount does not apply. This happened to me today--I tried to buy an Easter decoration kit which was right under a sign that said "all easter" 20 % off only to be charged full price at the register. When I saw my receipt and told the sales lady at the register she said 'oh that discount only applies to table top" I then showed another sales person that the sign was in a display that was not tabletop but had a huge easter display and she just said 'oh maybe its discontinued' but she kept the sign up! The same thing happened trying to buy an all clad roaster--the sign was next to a stack of roasters but none of them was discounted---the one discounted was under the table. Word to future shoppers: the discount signs can be false--check the price before you check out. Honestly, shouldn't we expect more from a high end store? At the very least more responsiveness from the sales people? read more

Not what it used to be! There was a time this company stood behind the products they sold. That's no longer the case. For several years I purchased a Christmas tree through their online site and it was delivered to my door. It was expensive but made life easier for me. I received many compliments on those trees. In theory, the tree was cut down, shipped and arrived at my door within two days. For the past few years, I've traveled over the holidays and didn't put up a tree. This year, I decided to stay home and have a tree again. I ordered my tree through Williams-Sonoma again. As soon as I took it out of the box on December 7th and put in in the stand I knew something was wrong. It was not nearly the size or as nice of a shape as the trees I had received in the past. I contacted customer service. I was told, on December 7th that another tree probably couldn't make it to me in time for Christmas - which was still 18 days away. Their offer of rectifying the problem was to offer a $25.00 credit, roughly 15% of the price of the tree. After two days of letting the tree open up, I began to string lights. I kept coming across dead branches and even fresh branches that had been stuffed into the tree but were no longer connected. By the time those were removed I had a sad looking tree. I ended up going to my local nursery and buying a new, replacement tree. I alerted Williams-Sonoma, they stood by their $25.00 refund offer. I've purchased many cooking utensils, appliances, cookware and bakeware from Williams-Sonoma in the past, they aren't the cheapest but I felt good that they stood behind their products.
