Used Williams Tree Service to cut back three large trees on my property. I had seen their crews working in the Whittier Area many times. The owner, Greg Williams, came out to the property, met with me and gave me a very reasonable written quote for the job. At the time, his crews were booked a few weeks in advanced, but I decided to wait. Greg called me himself and we scheduled the work for the next day. A team of 6 workers showed up at the specified date and time, ready to work. After three hours of work, my trees were trimmed beautifully. All of the tree limbs and leaves were mulched in their chipper and taken away in their service truck. The workers did a great job of cleaning up all of the debris. Listen, a bunch of guys including Williams' offspring Jr. came out to my house early and machete'd their way through an annoying date palm along with other dumb trees that came with the property that I just bought. Why did they have to do this by hand you ask? Well, there was no way for them to get their fancy lumberjack machinery to the yard since I have an enclosed patio. No access? No problem! They used ladders to climb the fence and hack their way through the mini forest I had going on. It took them a total of 4 hours to clear out my whole yard and cleaned up the neighbor's yard of any debris that may have been a result of my trees being cleared. The job was massive because it involved complete trimming of 13 way-overgrown huge 5-stories tall pine trees behind the northern wall bordering our HOA's 70 unit complex. For the past 4 or 5 years, every time there was a Santa Ana wind episode, 19 or 25 industrial-sized black bags of dry brown long pine needles had to be cleared from my small back patio and single story roof. The Williams Tree Service contractor employed the best arborvitae knowledgeable, perfect, professional, most considerate, workers that I could have ever imagined. They weren't contracted by our HOA, but Williams Tree Service cleaned up a gigantic mess. They even made special effort to clear out the needles that unavoidably dropped into our side of the wall. I watched from my patio and witnessed specially skilled workers paying attention to details, while perched in the manned basket on top of a huge mechanical arm that resembled something used to assemble the Space Station. I spoke to a gentleman named "Timothy" to express my appreciation for the Williams Tree Service workers because at 86 years of age, I realized the deluge of risky dry needles wouldn't be landing on my roof in the time when fires have been devastating a tremendous area of California land, spreading to wipe out homes and destroying businesses. A few months ago my Mother had my Dumb Neighbors recommend Williams Tree Service to come and cut our tree in our front yard. The company arrived and the owner never came up to the door to introduce himself to me because at the time they arrived my Mother was not at home. He looked at my tree and said, "looks like over growth to me." The crew who brought four of their trucks with them started to cut down my tree. I had no idea that there was on of their workers in my tree with another worker was in a basket on the other side of my tree. I went out to see what was going on and I noticed that they put up ladders to protect my windows of my house and nothing else. My plants in my front yard were all broken and I asked the owner if my plants had to be the ones to suffer. He looked at me and did nothing at first and then walked over to where my rose bushes were and said this. He moved the tree limbs off my rose bush, but the damage had already been done. He told me that they would cut any of the broken parts on my plants. I was VERY UPSET AT THE DISREGADE THAT WAS TAKEN BY THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Not one of the tree limbs was removed until the tree was cut back to where they wanted it. By then all of my plants had DAMAGE DONE TO THEM! When the cutting was done and they had removed the tree limbs they went to to my roof and used a blower to blow the tree parts on to the other side of my roof. While they were doing this they loosened three pieces of my roof which I found later on my front yard as I WAS CLEANING UP THE HUGE MESS THEY LEFT!!!!! The aftermath of the tree trimming was horrific!!!!! I had to clean up all around my house, the sides by my house and the back yard. They left a mess on the top where my tree was that they had cut back. I had tree limbs everywhere in my front yard that I was sitting finding hidden in my plants three days later. I had to clean up my gutter as well!!! THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS ONE THAT I WILL NEVER SOON FORGET!!!!!! I even was nice enough to give all of the workers water that I had, I should have never had been that nice!!!!!! This company works fast. Too fast for nesting birds to get out of the way. They are also very efficient in taking leaf blowers onto rooftops to clean up after the trees they remove. This, of course, will blow debris into neighboring yards. Unfortunately, because of water restrictions imposed by the drought, homeowners are not allowed to hose off driveways or wash their cars on non-watering days to clean up. My tip to people who hire companies like this: Have the courtesy to give your neighbors a heads-up. This will give your neighbors time to move their cars out of the way -- which is better than one can say for the birds! In California, non-emergency tree removal is possible year-around thanks to the mild weather we enjoy most of the year here. That being said, destruction of nesting sites are a violation of the federal Migratory Bird Act, among other laws aimed at protecting wildlife during breeding season. For this reason, landscaping and tree-trimming companies must do due diligence at this time of year before they trim or remove trees. While few companies make an overt effort to educate their customers, that doesn't mean it is permissible to fell trees without first inspecting them for nesting birds. If you are planning to contact this or another company like it, please ask questions and/or make an effort to obtain advice from the right authorities. A crew of 6 men came out to remove two fruit trees including stumps as well as trim some badly overgrown magnolias on the front curb. They were fast, thorough and friendly. These people came out and trimmed my Nieghbor's tree and in the process they damaged my newly planted fig tree I talked to the supervisor he told me that he place a call to the office and has not got a call back yet they left the property and did not give me any information about what they are going to do about my damaged tree I called the owner which has not seen my tree and he told me to just bend it back straight and it will be fine and that they are not going to do anything about it I just filed a claim against their bond and called my homeowners insurance company they will handle it and my nice neighbor called them and they told him that they are not going to do anything about it he also offers to pay me for a new tree but I could not take his money it is not about money when you screw something up you should take care of it apparently these people don't care don't use them. read more

We were told someone would be out at 7am. By 7:40 no one has called or showed up so we left for work assuming they weren't coming after all. Apparently, they cut the trees anyways and because we weren't there when they got there they just cut it waaaay shorter then we wanted. We didn't bring he dog inside because we didn't think they would show up and yet they went into the backyard with the dog anyways risking him running away or biting them. We didn't unlock the only working gate we have and instead our non working gate appears to be broken even more. It's important to keep communication open when working on someone's property and they failed to do that. I did not like coming home to my tree completely bare and my gate broken. Williams Tree Service in Whittier CA took advantage of my 84 year old mother in a very bad way in 2015. After charging her a high amount for their yard work, the owner asked my mom if she would like some free mulch spread on her lawn, as though it would be a good thing. She trusted him and said ok. He sent two guys with a truck load of wood that had gone through a limb chipper from trees he had removed from other clients. The two men charged my mom $120 each to spread this garbage of his all over her nice yard in La Habra Heights. The owner saved the amount it would have cost him to take those wood chips to the dump, at an elderly woman's expense. She has had nothing but problems with those wood chips since then. Aside from the way it looks it has made mowing the yard a dangerous activity, shooting chips all over the place. Anyone who would do this to an old woman would do any number of bad things to other clients. He does not deserve your business, so please let him know that. read more

I have had some confidence that Williams Tree Service knew what you were doing. They overstep your knowledge bounds lost my confidence and lost my business and possible business of my surrounding neighbors. I had tree specialists review and advise me on my trees - Sims Tree Health Specialists. I know my trees have Xylella due to inappropriate cleaning of equipment by California Arborists when I hired them to trim my trees before I hired Williams Tree Service. California Arborists failed to clean their equipment with bleach after every job. California Arborists also used climbing spikes on my trees which were not cleaned. This is the reason I hired Williams was they do not use spikes during work on large trees but ropes and I discussed their operational maintenance of tools, such as cleaning them with bleach after every job. Nearly every time Greg has come to my house he was looking for the big jobs, such as keying in on my American sweet gums. Nearly every time Greg came to give me as estimate, he always wanted to estimate trimming my trees again even after a few years they had trimmed them. I have some knowledge of plant diseases and know when to hire a plant pathologists to look at disease on trees. That is what I did; hired Sims Tree Health Specialists from Riverside to diagnose and treat my American sweet gums. Greg comes to the house thinking he knows what is wrong with my trees and before I even discussed what I want done. Greg tells me I need to remove not one tree but both trees in which one tree is very healthy. I was going to ask for an estimate for one tree removal and a estimate pruning of the dead tree branches with Xylella. Unbelievable that Greg first argues with a client; second, berate a client for picking up dog poop so you could walk over to see the palo verde (which he did not) that I wanted lightly pruning; third try to tell a client more than what he really knows. I do not see any recognition on Williams web site that they know plant diseases or is are certified in plant diseases. read more
