Go here for dog training and boarding! This is my favorite location of this brand. The dog trainer Tracy is the best. I took my dog there from puppy training to tricks! The value and time options are great for everyone. The boarding is also the best price for the area. I understand the indoor play area is small, but the boarding rooms are large and can fit 2 medium dogs comfortably. I enjoy taking my pup to the playdates that gets them some extra playtime, a special treat, a toy, and a picture to take home. The store is always fully stocked and has the best products that last. For example, the Arcadia Trail Year-Round All-Terrain Dog Booties and the yard leads are quality products. The store is extremely bright and the dogs may be overwhelming for some. There is a lot of accessible parking but the restroom is tucked away in the very back so that can be a hike to get to. read more

I was doing some shopping for my boss and decided to try and get some wet food for my precious cats. They have a certain brand and flavor they respond to really well. When I was looking through the brands to find my babies favorite I noticed an associate to the side of me literally scraping some stickers off..... no biggie. I find the product for my boss and some other stuff that may help. I was communicating with myself to organize the products best for him then went to find my cats food. I was also speaking to myself then because the label is very small on whether it's paté or cuts in gravy. As I was doing this I discoverd they sadly do not carry what I need. As I do that, I notice the associate go to manager walking by. I could hear her expressing concern over my behavior. As a man with brown skin I found myself very turned off by this behavior. The manager approached me and asked if I needed anything..... I'm no fool I know exactly what was going on. I'm incredibly disappointed in the behaviors of the staff. I know crazy happens I've worked retail for over 10 years. I knew why she brought up my behaviors to the manager and I am disgusted by the prejudice in this behavior. I will not be giving this location my hard earned money or helping that staff get a paycheck. I will not support your closed minded behavior. Grooming!! Such excellent customer service! Friendly groomers who actually know their customers and clients and really care about them. Just called to ask if I could get my big dog in for a last minute appointment, and Jordan was so accommodating and personable. Exceptional customer service needs to be recognized- especially these days! And all of the groomers with whom I have interacted at this PetSmart have been great! The store itself is fine. Occasionally, when it's slow, I've noticed a checker staring at her phone with headphones in, but she was quick to remove them and put the phone out of sight when I approached. And other times when I've needed assistance, someone was able to come help pretty much right away. So, really, I'll say I've had decent experience overall. read more

I took one of my dogs here over the summer and had a great experience so I booked an appointment for my other dog, a 100lb Great Pyrenees. He loves grooming appointments, but sometimes gets nervous at the vet, so I sedated him whenever he's going to be handled by a stranger. I stayed up till 1:30am so I could give him his first dose 8 hours before his appointment. Second dose at 7:30am. He's totally drugged up. My appointment today was at 9:30am. I get a call from PetSmart 8:25am basically saying the groomer was hungover and wouldn't make it in till noon. Unbelievable and unprofessional. My dog is completely drugged up for nothing and the best they could do was ask me to reschedule. I told them to just cancel. We've always had a pretty good experience but this lady did not know how to do her job and was so unprofessional! I had to board my furbaby during the Thanksgiving Holiday this year for 7 days and PetSmart Hotel did a fantastic job taking care of my boy. He's a super playful large breed and they handled him like a pro with so much love. He was nervous (at 7 years old he has only ever been boarded once before for 3 days). I called to check on him every other day and I was pleased with each report. I HIGHLY recommend. read more

They double book you, you show up at 7 am and they tell you they can't take your dogs because they were supposed to call you back and tell you that you were double booked but then they forgot. I was told she was just shy and will warm up quickly. My friend and I stopped by this PetSmart to work around some distractions with our dogs. Our dogs were leashed and we maintained control of them the entire time. We wanted to work on some obedience amd manners in the store and bounce some ideas off of each other. I enjoyed utilizing a wide aisle for awhile while we talked for a bit. We were not disrupting any customers or destroying property or anything when a rude manager approached us. "What are we doing here guys?" he accused. "Just working on some stuff with our dogs." "You cannot be training here unless you are working with one of our PetSmart trainers" he informed us. "My friend and I are just talking here and brainstorming some ideas, is that a problem?" "No, but you need to maintain control of the dogs while in the store." (While he said this, I had both of my dogs in a downstay with my foot on their 4' leashes. My friend was standing with her dog in a sit in heel position. All leashed and controlled. The only sign on the door said 'leashed pets welcome.' "Can do. Thanks" I ended. The manager did not have a name tag on, but another employee told me his name was Chad. Well Chad, my friend and we actually going to get some supplies after we were done but after that stunt, we can happily take our business elsewhere. I would not recommend getting your animal groomed here. I took my cat here and the first two times were fine. The third time my cut looked careless and entirely different than his first few grooms - uneven with exposed skin on his hind legs and far shorter than requested. Upon expressing my concerns, management told me they could no longer provide services as the groomer was no longer "comfortable" grooming my animal. This was merely due to my complaints as they had said he was a sweet cat. If you want a groomer, as well as customer service, who listens to your needs and heeds your instructions, this is not the place to go. read more

Staff was extremely rude this morning; especially, the lead groomer who stated her name was Emily. In an attempt to display some semblance of leadership and efficiency, Emily felt the need to use a direct and very condescending tone with me suggesting that I had no choice but to allow her to shave the back of my dog's head to remove two dime size matted spots that I was able to remove in 30 seconds after canceling my appointment and arriving home without any change to the dog's appearance. Emily's attitude was nothing more than that of a petulant child who seemed to want to prove she was in charge. And when asked to explain to a store manager what the problem was, her attitude and tone of voice changed completely. How is a person this unprofessional and unpleasant working with people's pets??? Moreover, while waiting to speak with a manager, I observed another young lady dragging a large white dog by its neck to the back room. The animal was clearly nervous and afraid, but the young lady holding the lead was impatient an pulling the animal hard enough that his feet were sliding across the floor. Not only terrible and sad, but unacceptable. Makes me believe that the recent past news reports of Pet Smart's cruelty are true. I just left Petsmart after putting my food that I had for my cat back on the shelf. I was looking for a manager and only found one employee working in the entire store. My problem was I was looking for cat food by the case that was still wrapped and did not find any. I have made many such attempts over the many years to do so. I can't imagine anyone being dumb enough to buy one or two cans every trip to the Petsmart store. I would think most people by 6 to 12 to 24 units at a time. I do not buy one can at at time but rather I buy cases at a time. Therefore the person that has decided to unwrap everything in the store is plain and simply an idiot, thank you very much. I do not know anyone that will buy one or two cans unless it is the very first kitten and they do not understand that they will have to make numerous trips to the store to buy more. I have encountered this with Petsmart for a number of years now and will consider changing stores as my primary source. We used to have four cats now we have two cats and I will look elsewhere for products. It is simply not worth my time having individual cans in a bag which could potentially roll all over my car and then I have to get home and stack them neatly and you have to take the time having people open the cases as well. Whoever had this crazy notion of unwrapping everything in the store is absolutely out of their mind and needs to be terminated because they do not understand the efficacy or efficiency of having to buy more than one can at a time. It would seem that your management may not actually own animals. Otherwise, you would know this situation and would understand it. It would seem that your own brand gets less and less room on the shelves and that's a problem too. I've spoken to managers about this and they all say that the DM is the one who says open everything. This place is an absolute disgrace. I took my dogs here once a couple of months ago to get their nails trimmed, and when i came back for them one of my dogs was bleeding because they had cut the nails WAY too short! I demanded an explanation, and after a fair bit of running around, was told it was an accident, and that it wouldn't happen again. Well, just last week i came back to get their nails trimmed--was ASSURED that my dogs would be taken care of--and IT HAPPENED AGAIN. My poor dog could barely stand, they had cut his nails so short. I cannot believe the level of incompetence that this place has, and the only person I'm more angry at than the imbecile who cut my dog, is me for believing it wouldn't happen again. Today, I had one of the most shocking and off-putting customer service experiences I've ever witnessed, at this particular PetSmart location. I'm a huge pet rescue advocate, local volunteer, former dog walker, and former brand ambassador (who would often work in PetSmart locations, although not this one). I have years of customer service and retail experience. I've never had an issue with any store managers or Associates in any of the PetSmarts I've ever worked at, or shopped at, until now. A month or so ago, one of our sweet fur babies passed away from cancer. We have just started to attend adoption events, start looking at other cats to see if we can find one that will fit our animal pack. Really, just as of today.This afternoon, I called this location to see if they had any adoptable cats. I was told "yes, lots!" So, we drove out to Ballwin to check out some of the fur babies. We saw a few cats in the cat room. We couldn't find anyone with a key until we were directed to a woman who was staring at her phone, and appeared to not want to be bothered. I asked her, "We're interested in looking at cats, would that be okay?" She glared at us and asked, "Are you 100% sure you'll be adopting a cat today?" "Well, no. We are interested in adopting, but I can't promise it will be today. We've just started to look." Apparently annoyed, she led us to the cat room, then asked us multiple other questions. She refused to let us see any of the cats until we could select one we were interested in. You couldn't even see all the cats from outside that space! We had no idea. We just wanted to meet some of them and see their personalities. I told her we were no longer interested, and I was disturbed by her attitude and lack of encouragement for potential adopters. Shaking, and I'm sure visibly upset, I also told the Store Managers about this before walking out. If I were a family or young person interested in rescuing/adopting a pet for the first time, this scenario would have totally shaken me and, possibly, have put me off the whole thing. I understand there needs to be a sense of responsibility, seriousness, and cleanliness when letting the public check out adoptable pets. BUT letting someone like this work with the public, and speak this way to customers, is unacceptable. Making people feel "guilty" for wanting to check out adoptable animals is unacceptable. Creating this type of experience for potential adopters is unacceptable - and will not help get these fur babies adopted. Thoroughly disgusted and upset after today's experience. On December 22 2017 everything changed for us. I wanted to get my friendly lovable lab to charm other dogs and humans for a few hours. $16 for 6 hours. I really enjoyed the atmosphere for a couple of years, until 12/22/17. I saw my friendly dog had blood marks that were serious bites when I returned later that day. I Had to pay $140 because my dog was rowdy, the 'used car salesmen' informed me. I also needed to have a support dog because of my 2 traumatic brain injuries. I do not have money growing on trees yet try to fend for myself. I took a chance on getting this dog, or vice verse at a different Petsmart. Yet the staff at This Petsmart were mean and nasty, not helpful in any respects! Made routine grooming appointments for our dogs who have been coming to this location regularly. Irene is awesome but was booked so we got Jennifer at 5:20-8:30/9pm. Asked for both dogs to be bathed/brushed/haircut. 1. They called 1.5hrs into the appt stating that Evie bit their groomer but didn't draw blood (Never has this been an issue before, the groomers at that location always talk about how sweet they are when I pick them up). 2. During the same call she says that they won't be able to accomplish their hair cuts because of running out of time...only bath & brush. 3. When I arrive at 8:35, Ted did in-fact have his hair cut. They were standing at the desks waiting on me with the dogs ready to go. She claimed she was halfway through his cut when I was called by the other staff member. 4. In reality, they had 30 minutes remaining to cut Evie's hair before PetSmart closed and accomplish the service I made the appointment for but instead they were in a hurry to close and leave before I even paid at the register. Poor management decision to leave these two groomers alone. read more

I have a dog that was rescued from an abusive situation. She is anxious, but does fine. She will show her teeth if she doesn't want to be messed with. I called and emphasized her problems and made sure this wouldn't be an issue. I was repeatedly assured they "take dogs of all types." I receive a call less than 10 minutes after my fiancé drops my two dogs off saying that the anxious one is showing her teeth when they try to take her harness off, so she has to be picked up now. I'm supposed to be on a plane in two hours for a trip we scheduled in May to a convention. Now I have to sell my admissions ticket and lose my plane ticket because I was misled on the phone and the people at the pet hotel, despite just having this exact conversation with fiancé, didn't give my very anxious dog more than 5 minutes to calm down. I used to think that this Petsmart location was one of the nicer ones, the only one that I would board my GSD, Tron at... until we got him home and found his testicles burned and rubbed red and bleeding! We had paid extra for a suite, and even more on top of that for one on one time with an associate, since Tron isn't neutered. For four days we spent around $220 for no one to notice that he was in obvious distress and they were so swollen that if he walked with his tail up you could see them clearly. Of course I called corporate and they had the manager of the Pet Hotel, Allie, called to apologize herself. She was sweet, and let me know she was going to see if they could refund the stay. The vet took one look and prescribed Tron 3 medications. They were shocked at no one at Petsmart noticed. Keep in mind we paid for 3 additional individual play times where someone should be one-on-one with Tron at all times. Finally I got a call back from Allie, saying they couldn't refund any of the stay because we signed the master contract agreement. She explained taking Tron was like dropping off a toddler at preschool, we could expect him to maybe get a few scrapes and get sick. Except Tron never played with any dogs so he couldn't have gotten sick or bitten by another pup. I expressed that I was more concerned that no one brought this to my attention. She kept saying no one saw it, which just seems impossible to me and the vet. SUMMARY: 4 day stay at petsmart pet hotel suite left my dog's testicles swollen and bleeding. ***UPDATE*** after reading the master contract agreement myself I went back to Petsmart, I couldn't find anything that would remove their liability. Another dog did not hurt mine, their workers neglect did. In the end they refunded the stay, still I will not have my guy boarded at this location anytime. read more

Thomas Raymond has mastered his "Outward Hound" backpack and learned how to squeeze out of it. Hence, jail breaks!! That makes me crazy! He's so NOT street smart, and one meeting with a car will turn him into poodle pudding (no, he's not a poddle; he's our 9-pound rescue dog mix of Affenpinscher and Jack Russell Terrier with an underbite and a goatee). So, I go to Petsmart to look for bigger balls and harder balls to put in the backpack. It's really more like a saddlebag. Couldn't find big enough or hard enough balls to work, so I wandered around looking for a neck brace. One employee I'd passed twice in my wanderings asked if she could help me. I explained what I was looking for and she took off like a jet plane directly to the medical supplies. There it was. An inflatable, velcro-closure protective collar. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! The pethotel staff, grooming staff, and manager staff were all rude with every interaction I had at this location. I dropped off 2 Shiba Inu's to get a bath, deshedding, and to stay in the doggie day care. I got a call sometime in the afternoon from one of the people I listed as an emergency contact number, on the forms I filled out, saying that one of the dogs had a rash and would not be receiving grooming services. This was weird because (1) why didn't they call me? My phone is always on me and I always have service at my job and (2) the dog didn't have any rashes when I looked her over the night before. I call the store and am put on the phone with the vet who explains that the groomer, Brooke, brushed the dog too hard and the dogs skin is irritated around the hips and shoulders. When I arrive the groomer, Brooke, shows me a couple of spots where the skin is red. When they hand me the other dog he is shaking and pulling me towards the door. He's never usually eager to leave a store full of other dogs and toys, he's a friendly dog who loves to play so this was very weird. When the 3 of us get into the vets office so I can speak to her about the meds she is giving my injured dog the other dog is shaking and trying to open the door, and almost succeeds. I didn't know he knew how to open the door handle but I guess when you're terrified you learn pretty quick. The vet gave her an antibiotic to avoid her exposed skin getting infected and and anti-inflammatory to help with the swelling and redness. The manager on staff that night told me they'd comp her grooming service but I still had to pay for all the other services. The only reason I did was because I felt I couldn't leave and they still had the dogs belongings. She was rude and had an oh-that-sucks-but-that's-not-my-problem kind of attitude. When I finally got home and really looked at the dog (in the store I was tangled in leashes and paperwork and trying to talk to people) I really looked at her skin and I was livid. The injury was her entire back not just her hips and shoulders. Her skin was red, raw, and bleeding. Shiba Inu's naturally have thick coats and the other Shiba we own has been furminated before so I have an idea of what the end result should look like. You could see the red of her skin through her fur they thinned her coat out so badly. I read the progress report that groomer, Brooke, gave to me with the dog and it says she brushed her for 45 minutes. FURminator states that when you use one of their brushes for deshedding you're not suppose to use it for more than 20 minutes. Brooke brushed my dogs skin raw and made her bleed for 45 minutes. That's when I realized the other dog was trying so hard to escape Petsmart because he had to listen to his friend cry in agony for 45 minutes. What kind of specially trained dog groomer tortures a dog for 45 minutes?! That is so unethical. The next day I went back and spoke to a different manager who gave a way more appropriate response to the incident. She refunded me all the charges, was sympathetic/understanding, and made sure I had followup appointments to progress check the dogs recovery (I'm sure she had to do that but it was still more than the manager that was working during the incident did). So I went to Petsmart with 2 healthy and happy dogs and left with 2 distraught and traumatized dogs, one physically abused and needing medication and another mentally abused from listening to his friend cry in agony for 45 minutes. Then they almost tried to lie and cover it up by saying it was a rash and telling someone else and not me the owner. This is disgusting of Petsmart. This store needs way better training in terms of grooming and customer service or just needs to be shut down to prevent other animals from getting abused. This is completely unacceptable. read more

I would like to heed my only warning - SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS. I got accused of running out of my bill because the cashier at the front threw away my paper from grooming and pocketed my $80. Several phone calls, security footage and no apology later, I was proved innocent but it was 25% my fault for not saving/getting the receipt for the payment. I like this place so here's all the reasons you should go: First of all, I want to say that I come to this PetSmart every four weeks as they have done the best job keeping my dog's cost manageable. I have a malamute mix and the ONLY way to make it through is getting him Furminated, often. I give PetSmart one star just for offering this treatment. I have tried to go to other groomers who do not offer the name brand Furminator treatment and tools but a "de-shed" alternative, and it is not the same. I'm handing out the next star for their prices. De-shedding treatments are incredibly expensive and it seems as though my favorite groomers at our local petsmart grooming department do a better job than anyone else I've ever visited for a whole lot less. I'm going to give another star for the employees. They are good to my dog, they are respectful of me, and they do well in keeping a facility full of animals clean. Im giving my fourth and final star for the quality of the facility. This petsmart is big. They have a vast food section, beds, collars, numerous toys for all kinds of animals, and several other things. There is very few dog related items I could need that I can't find here. It is an all-in-one for anyone who is willing to compromise a little with "name brand" fronts. The quality is good in my opinion. Not only with the groomers, but I also take my dog to do indoor play time when it is far too hot for a malamute to run. He loves running and playing with his friends, and it's a nice air-conditioned alternative to sitting at home or overheating in the yard. Please please STAY AWAY from this place if you LOVE your pets !!! This is an absolute disgrace to them. I still can't believe what happened to my poor little pup. He was dropped off for a hair cut/bath and belly shave was suggested by the groomer because of matting after the consultation. And guess what they did to him???!!!! 70% of his body/face was shaved. I was shocked at the results, still I'm. It's heartbreaking to watch him looking like a sick dog. And the explanation they provided was "You did your initials at the shaving matted spots on the paper work. It's just hair, it will grow back. You should be grateful for being charged $47 only . It's supposed to be much more". But the groomer and I agreed upon shaving belly area only, after brushing him out thoroughly. I don't believe, she is even a professional groomer, I think they just bring anyone to fill in, they could be psychopaths which is very likely in this case. She must hate dogs or just a sadist or a racist, I can't find any good reason to justify this act. I feel stupid for not reading reviews ahead and got my baby go through this horrible event.
