Today, Thursday noon, the specialty was prime rib, 8oz or 10oz with mashed potatoes and a corn/veggie mix. Superb. Cost for the 10oz... $10 flat. Any catch? A super friendly quaint restaurant nestled in the beauty of tall redwoods in Guerneville, CA! First walk in, the uniquely decorated dining room hit with old fashioned rustic charm and an unmistakable New Orleans ambiance. The host and all her staff were uber friendly and attentive while dishing up vittles and beverages. Voodoo'd first with the chicken crackling served with hot sauce -oh my-my my! Catfish, fried okra, collards, black eyed peas, and cornbread waffles were delish to the last morsel. Banana pudding, buttery rich and decadent, wrapped up our meal. Portions are generous. Love and pride in this place. Reservations recommended! We will definitely be back!

They treated us well - we were immediately seated to a table with roses and Champagne. They even played "Anniversary," by Tony! Toni! Toné! soon after we settled in. So thoughtful! The food hit the spot. We got the dinner for two deal that gives you an appetizer, 4 servings of proteins and 3 sides. We started off with the hot links that were saucy as advertised in the menu. We decided to get all the 4 proteins advertised. The catfish won me over -- the thinnest breading that gave just the right amount of crunch -- and I was also a fan of the chicken. The ribs were good too, though I wish the meat fell off the bone, and the fried chicken was good too, but I would've swapped it out for another serving of the catfish. For sides, we went with the mac and cheese (I believe it had a Cajun seasoning mixed in that was a nice surprise), potato salad and succotash (had to get some vegetables in there!). We were also served cornbread waffles with honey butter, which practically felt like a dessert. We were so stuffed! We had no room for dessert but wished we could've tried the beignets. The menu lists 5 different kinds, including a yuzu that caught my eye. The hospitality made me feel so welcomed - from the hostess to the servers. The cook even came out to greet us happy anniversary! There were two birthdays while we were there, and the staff sing Stevie Wonder's version of the Happy Birthday song. Needless to say, we had a fun time and the funky decorations adds to the environment.

They have recently been added to the Secret Trail Brewing Company's food pop up rotations on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. I wanted to try all the meats but settled with the pulled pork sandwich topped with pig candy coleslaw and a side of German potato salad. + The sandwich's flavor was great. The pulled pork, coleslaw, and house made bbq sauce married perfectly. I struggled for a bit to find the bits of "pig candy" but when you do, it just adds another layer of texture and porkiness to the sandwich. + The German potato salad was not what I expected. Instead of mayonnaise, it's mixed with vinegar making it a welcomed, acidic accompaniment to the sandwich. - They were a bit slow to start off. I arrived around 4; they needed another 30 minutes. - I don't think they are fully equipped to handle the weather outside for a food stand as my pulled pork could've been warmer. I'm rooting for y'all! All in all the food was delicious, the issues are minor and could be improved over time.

We were expecting a whole vibe, the buffet with the crab legs, and brunch goodies. Instead, we walked into an empty restaurant with no patrons, nor crab brunch buffet! We were greeted by a nice server almost instantly and of course we had questions, because WTH?! He seated us, then informed us that the brunch buffet with DJ is a weekend thing (damnit). I guess neither of us caught that important fact on the advertising videos. My oxtails were cooked to perfection! They were fall of the bone, meaty, and flavored well. It came with rice, and a side. I am not sure when I will be able to venture that way for awhile, but if and when I do, I will make sure it is on a weekend so I can catch the R&B Brunch they keep adverting.

They are take-out only, this is something to consider when wanting to eat their food and wanted to do a sit down. I did not mind but I opted for Door Dash to deliver instead. I did not realize that the oxtails came with rice already so I called to see if they were able to change one of my side. I was a little too late but it was fine, they gave the option to buy another side over the phone. Whoever I spoke to was very nice & accommodating. Now let's get to the nitty gritty. Location: It's at the Marina strip mall off the highway12, plenty of parking. And like I said, this is a takeout only. They do have some tables and chairs outside if you wanted to eat there. Price: Just comparing it from the other soul food restaurant I mentioned earlier, it's pretty reasonable! Anything smothered on their menu come with rice already which is great. Rice & Beans | 4.5 - delicious! I'm thankful there was a bed of rice on the oxtails because I feel like there wasn't enough rice on the rice and beans itself. Candied Yams | 3.5 - they were good but they were a little lacking on the sweet and candied part. Nonetheless still good! Greens | 4 - now this is a personal take. I think the greens were perfect, the only cons is I can not eat spicy and these were a bit on the spicy side. Took a bite and was so sad because I knew I couldn't eat it. That's a pro for my husband, he loved the greens and the spice. Oxtails | 5 - as a person who loves oxtails, I'd have to say, these were great! Packed on flavor, the gravy was perfect amount of salt and spice. Not only was it flavorful, they were so tender they literally fall off the bone.
