Both my friend and I have been going through a southern gumbo phase and have been eating different southern restaurants locations when we get the opportunity to meet up. Seeing the good reviews, we were excited to eat some more Gumbo, but felt very unsatisfied taking our first initial bites. Had to scoop the stew by itself without the rice to confirm, but it barely had any flavor, I couldn't taste anything at all. Even the shrimp barely had any taste to it. We stopped eating and left half of dish on the table. They also forgotten the corn bread and I had to ask after the meal if it came with it or not. The only saving grace was the Fried Basa we ordered for additional protein that saved our appetite. I would say it was the only thing that had flavor and a few stars worthy for this review. read more

I first had this from one of their pops-ups in American Canyon, so when I found out about their Fairfield Location, I HAD TO GO! Their space is HUGE! I believe it's the old Buffalo Wild Wings. Keep in mind that there is no entry to and from the Solano Mall... or Solano Town Center. So yeah, really big space and great for a celebration with a big party. Food was excellent! The Crawfish Ettouffee has soooo much flavor, it's mind blowing. They're pretty generous with the amount of Crawfish, too. This place is so good. The food was fresh, crispy, and full of flavor. The macaroni and cheese is actual real macaroni and cheese, and the basa and chicken plate dinner was well worth the $30. The cornbread was not dry at all, which I appreciated. I ordered through mobile, arrived about 30 minutes later, and my food was ready. I was able to walk in, grab it, and walk right out. We got an early lead on Mother's Day dining and chose to eat at Chey'las. We always feel like family when we come here. When we arrived, we waited a little bit to be seated and then waited quite a while before anyone came to see about us. However, once I got ahold of someone our server came right away. French-Fries was his name with a kind smile. He took our accurate order and checked on us throughout our time there. He even told us how long it would take for our food to come out. We told him to make sure they took their time and didn't rush anything. The sides started arriving first. See the pics. Went on father's day for lunch and had one of their daily specials! Pulled up & it was PACKED! I didn't make reservations so I expected to wait a bit. Nope, with some luck we were seated within 5 minutes. Service was superb. Daisha checked on us (party of 2) at the right moments keeping drunks filled at all times. Now the fried chicken = YES! The thigh was a nice size. String beans brought me back to childhood dinners like my daddy use to cook. Ooooh weekend, catfish filet perfect with the breading season to perfection. We finally were able to try this spot since they opened. I got the Short ribs with rice and gravy with greens and side of cornbread. My wife got Basa pan fried with sweet potato and potato salad. My meal is okay but it needed more gravy. The short ribs was tender but it didn't rock the show. I'm not sure of preparation but I liked it to be smothered with gravy. My favorite item on the plate was the greens and cornbread. My wife's meal on the other hand was great. I loved how the fish was prepared and the flavor was on point I would go back for that without a doubt. The service was good our waitress was attentive and the place is spacious but if you been here when it was Buffalo wings the appearance hasn't change much. This was my first time visiting since the change of owners - everything was amazing. The waitress was attentive and quick to get our order. The meals are reasonably priced as well. I got the smothered oxtails, but will 100% get the catfish next time I go. I tried my mom's and was kind of sad I didn't order it (even though the oxtails were great). My kids (ages 4-8) can sometimes be picky with new restaurants, but they were begging for their leftovers as soon we got home! Haven't had their food since they were in Suisun so I was extremely excited to hear that my niece wanted to have her bday dinner here. Ordered through Door Dash and it took awhile but it was worth the wait. I've been hearing about this place for a few months now and finally decided to try it out. Hubby and I finally decided to come and try this place out. We were able to be seated immediately once we walked in. The hostess took our drink orders while we reviewed the menu. Once our drinks were given, I place my order of pan fried basa, sweet potato fries and potato salad. Hubby ordered the short ribs, rice and gravy with greens. The place was quite busy so be patient as the food is made to order too. Our food came out and it smelled so good! I truly enjoyed my fish plate along with hubby. I tried the short ribs and while it was good hubby and I both agreed we prefer a lot more gravy on the meat and rice. They give generous portions that went got bring home leftovers. I came here with my sister and my niece after her gymnastics class. I ordered the catfish which came with 2 sides and a choice of bread. I opted for a side of collard greens and candied yams, and the cornbread. The catfish tasted good, it had the right amount of seasoning. The collard greens were really good too. The candied yams had the right amount of sweetness to it. The cornbread was okay. The staff here is nice. The only thing that I'd say is that it takes a while for the food to come out. It's not really a place you'd want to go to if you're in a hurry to be somewhere. But the food here is solid for sure. There are a lot of open tables and parking here is never an issue. Was pretty excited to try this restaurant out and wasn't able to. I walked in at 1:30PM today, got greeted, got my drink... I ordered the chicken & fish plate with yams and Mac n cheese. I walked out at 2:26pm, no food. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, it's Wednesday. Not busy. A lot of FOH staff must not be enough BOH. It's located in the old Buffalo Wild Wings spot, and while the interior layout is mostly the same, the warm service and food definitely make it feel like its own place. Our waitress was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and checked on us often. Our food came out promptly, and everything was served hot and fresh. Food: * Catfish Filets with yams, mac and cheese, and hush puppies -- The catfish was perfectly fried and seasoned really well. The mac and cheese and yams were solid, and I especially appreciated that the hush puppies weren't over-fried. * Oxtails with red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The oxtails were the standout of the entire meal: tender, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. The red beans and rice were okay for my taste, but everything else on the plate was great. * Turkey Meatloaf with mac and cheese, red beans and rice, and cornbread. Not worth the money. Ordered the oxtail plate (which comes with no rice) with red rice & beans + greens to go. The first thing I noticed was the gravy of the oxtails smelled burnt. When I tasted it there was a burnt bitterness to it on top of it being bland. They also did not trim the fat caps so the first bite I had was pure fat. The greens tasted like they were cooked in water and not broth. They had no flavor whatsoever. The red beans & rice was bland too. The cornbread was so oily I couldn't even finish it. For a plate that cost almost $40 & doesn't even come with rice, I was expecting so much better. Employees were casually standing around "shooting the sh*t" like they out just hanging out. It wasn't busy at all. May have been the time of day? The food was hot and fresh. The chicken was seasoned well. The beans and rice was very hearty! I worked have preferred the beans to be cooked longer and maybe a little more rice. The bite size Hush puppies were delicious but I think had they been slightly bigger would've allowed more texture when you bite/cut into them. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing. Lunch size portion was plenty, food served hot, impressive plated presentation, spacious dining area, and plenty servers. Overall, excellent service. Have a craving for fried chicken? I found this place out via social media so of course we had to try it out since we were in the area. We got there right at opening so it wasn't busy at all. We ordered the fish and chicken dish with hush puppies and yams, and the chicken plate with a waffle, red beans and rice, greens, and corn bread. The fish and chicken was seasoned nicely and the skin on both was perfect, not a lot breading on it from being fried. The chicken was juicy and tasted great. All of the side dishes were cooked nicely and had so much flavor to them. The waffle was light and not too thick. Of course ordering chicken you have to wait for it to be cooked but it was well worth it. Although we were the only ones in the restaurant, the service was still great. Very courteous. Now I started to leave two stars because I arrived at the restaurant @ 7:50 a few minutes before closing looking to get some collard greens, yams and cornbread. Looking also for both large helping. For what I received for $23:28 I would have given it to the customer seeing that it was nearly closing time and I was really out of the desired food, or at least given half price off for a frequent customer.
