    The Willie Dicks menu

We were on our way from Portland to Longview, and we wanted to get a bite to eat. We noticed that Willie Dicks was on the way and it had solid reviews so we checked it out. We arrived less than an hour before they closed, but the employees were very gracious and hospitable. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. She made small talk with us, and after finding out we weren't from this area, she gave plenty of recommendations for Longview and Astoria. She was awesome! Willie Dicks is known for their hot dogs/brats, but the menu has so many great options. There's plenty of beer and other beverages to choose from as well. The restaurant is located on a quaint drag with other boutiques and restaurants. The interior is cozy, and there's plenty of seating. Some tips: Definitely try one of their hot dogs. I didn't and I totally regretted it when I saw some of them come out. Also, these bad boys are sizable, so, you could order more than one, but one should be sufficient. For a side, choose the potato Mac & cheese salad that has bacon and is delicious Cheers!!

There are less than a handful of places that I update reviews on - this is one of the few. Willie Dicks continues to maintain a family friendly environment that consistently offers good food, excellent service and an enjoyable experience. I'm pleased to share that they received their (well deserved); " Best of Southwest Washington (Taphouse.)" Award. We've been referring to them as the "Cheers of Kalama," they *are that, but the modern version and so much more! If you're driving down, the I-5, do not miss this place!

Delicious brisket chili. Great flavor. Bread seems homemade.

Delicious brisket chili. Great flavor. Bread seems homemade. Insanely good ginger hot toddy. Sat at bar but lots of seating options. Really friendly staff. Next to good antique shops. Beer selection extensive.

Super cute downtown pub. They smoke all of their own meats, pickle their own veggies, and have a couple dozen local brews. I got the Shoug root beer and the brisket sandwich.

Super friendly server. Prompt service. Really good rotating beer/cider selections. We came to try their dogs, I mean who doesn't enjoy a good gourmet's down and dirty dog. Definitely DOWN with the cool menu, nothing dirty about. Too bad we were just passing through, I would definitely be a regular if I live in the area. The house made chili and beer cheese on my frito pie dog was tasty and the Sanchez dog was really good too.

I took a lunch break in Kalama and Willie Dick's Taphouse was the choice. I got there shortly after opening at 11 am and the place was empty with a lone employee working. He was nice and kept busy the entire time I was there. I saddled up to the bar and ordered the Frito Pie Dog and a Diet Coke (can). I started with the homemade salsa and Juanita's chips. I thought the homemade salsa sounded really good in theory but as I ate it I wasn't really impressed. Not getting that again. I loved my Frito Dog (more Frito's on it please next time) as it had chili, cheese jalapenos and, of course, Frito's. The winner was the huge hot dog as it was very flavorful and satisfying. Kinda messy but that's to be expected. It also came with some more Juanita's chips. No other customers came while I was there and the employee said they usually get busy after noon with the lunch crowd. He said they will have been open for 4 years come this Memorial Day. Overall, I like this place as it's newer, has good food and a great beer selection. I'd come back when in the area again.

The Hippie - a veggie dog with just a little kick...and plenty of toppings.

We ended up here after find too long of a wait across the way at McM's and it was such an amazing choice! No wait, and friendly and fast service for a car full of travelers. There are endless choices on tap (Blackberry Cider; Black Tea IPA; and Breakside Pilsner were had at our table), and some delicious dogs and tacos. There were even multiple vegetarian options, a very kid-friendly menu and games, and local hot sauce for everyone! The dogs come loaded with toppings - knives and forks are highly recommended. The default side is crinkly chips for the dogs and tortilla chips for the tacos, but you can sub out homemade sides for just a little more. Absolutely delicious eats - this will become a regular stop for us! (As for the pictures - the food came out nicer initially, but we couldn't resist a bite or two before remembering to snap a photo.)

Good beer selection, and I like a good dog. They are also within walking distance from my place, so that doesn't hurt my feelings.

It was a Saturday evening about 6:00 pm so we knew we might get caught in a crowd and were prepared to wait. I was impressed with our server and the different menu options she shared with us. We each ordered a simple cup of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. (see pics) The vibe was great with darts, shuffleboard and a DJ setting up for karaoke night. How fun! Here's where it went downhill. We waited over 20 minutes to get our food, we never were asked if we needed anything else or if our food was good ( or correct) and our water and ice tea glasses were never refilled. Now I realize that our very nice server was busy, but she passed our table SEVERAL times without saying a word. As for our food, my chicken noodle soup had way too much pepper in it and my husband's tomato bisque was too spicy. (& he likes it spicy!!). Also, I ordered cheddar cheese not swiss cheese for my grilled cheese sandwich. I eventually decided to eat it since I was hungry and knew that I'd have to wait even longer if I returned it. This is our second visit here and sadly the service wait time then (about 6 months ago) was also "forgettable" All and all, if you are going to hang out and party with your friends, I would say GO! But if you want to go and get a meal, be prepared to be patient and allow A LOT of time.

When we entered, the lady that took our order was fantastic. Super friendly, helpful, and nice to our kids. We ordered a quesadilla, wrap, grilled cheese, and a couple of their homemade soups. The bean soup was one of the best soups we've ever had. The chicken wrap tasted so fresh. We'll be going back for sure, was surprised there wasn't a line out the door. My colleague and I settled on Say Ciao tucked away in the industrial area parallel to the 14 freeway. When we arrived around 11:30am it was pretty open. They had both indoor and outdoor seating and it was pretty wide open. Water containers with disposable clear plastic cups both outside and in. There were some really good looking items on the menu. Soups, salads, melts, wraps, burgers. As I had a few things to do later that afternoon I opted for their ham sandwich with their side salad. After tax and tip it was about $10 all in. The white dressing in the photo was a nice semi-creamy vinaigrette. It had good flavor and wasn't too heavy which was nice for a sunny afternoon. The bread used for the sandwich was very fresh and was well made with a good amount of ham. The environment, seating options, and diverse yet not overwhelming menu make this place a must try in my book. I hope you enjoy and get the same prompt service and delicious meal I did

They had a nice draft and bottle selection of German beer. The food was delicious. The pretzel was scrumptious with 3 dipping sauces that were all good. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel, prepared breaded and pan fried like a Wienerschnitzel. It was cooked perfectly with the pork tender and thin. The red cabbage was great too. The warm German potato salad was not traditional. It tasted more like seasoned fried potatoes, but they were still good. My only suggestion would have been a little more gravy. My husband got the Maultaschen, which we had never had. It was a pasta filled with sautéed leeks & cheese, topped with asparagus, & mushrooms in white wine sauce...delicious. Everything was great!!!

Not crowded, with attentive but chill service. We had a delicious burger (hubby) with a fabulous acid-forward set of toppings; a delicious lentil-and-every-German-meat soup (me, because I am an Official Soup Nerd); a delicious pretzel with dips (us). Chocolate pot de creme for dessert--so rich. It was Strong Bier month, which was really fun. Can't wait to go back.
