Went there last evening, our server,Erica was wonderful.. Answered our questions and was very cordial. The Caesar salad was excellent, had the bone in Filet, great taste and cooked perfectly,,,, everything came out in a timely manner,,,,,My only suggestion is to heat the serving plates to a higher temperature in order for the food to stay warmer, longer. Went there two weeks ago on a Saturday evening and the place was almost empty. Waitress was annoying and food was only okay. Do not have anything on draft and when I asked for a Guinness the waitress asked what I meant by that. Very disappointed given the prices. Owner's decision to change restaurant to a more upscale dining experience seems to be backfiring. Will be a while before I go back. read more

Great place! Newcomers from out of state and we were pleased. One of us had the Delmanaco steak 20 oz, I believe, with mashed potatoes (very creamy) and delicious and aesthetically pleasing to the eye steamed carrots with butter glaze. THey we're too cute to look at!! Ordered a side of lobster wasabi mashed potatoes. They were good! Not too hot, but we are used to heat--we're from Louisiana. I got 3 petite filets one topped with lobster, one with lump crab meat and other with scallops. All topped with bernaise cream. The steaks were melt In Your mouth and cooked to medium rare as I requested. Also ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms for is both. Yum! Same sides as the other--yummy glazed carrots and creamy mashed potatoes. Came with complimentary bread and butter. Yum!! For appetiser, We got the filet egg rolls with onions, mushrooms, cheese in a regular egg roll. B/f got order of dozen oysters on the half shell which were a bit small. Ehh, so it goes. He also got the steak tar tar. I tried it and liked it. It was great quality steak and had red onion, picked okra, yellow mustard and something else I think to top compliment the tar tar. Don't remember. Also, quail eggs he cracked over the tar tar. He loved it. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. If I lived here, I'd go back often. The owner was on site stopping and checking on tables. Mr George chatted with us and inquired about he quality of our meal. Excellent! He was very gracious knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend! Speechless. I am from Houston, TX and was visiting here on business. I ended up eating here three nights in a row and trying three different cuts, the Delmonico Ribeye, bone in filet, and NY Strip. They offer a great menu but I'm definitely a man who loves a great steak and wow, did they deliver on cue each time. I am simple with my seasonings and prefer salt and pepper only and require no more than medium rare. The Delmonico Ribeye was 20oz of juicy, tender, robust flavor heaven. The bone-in filet was a 12oz portion and extremely thick. It was cooked to perfection and, even though being a filet, was surprisingly juicy and had rich flavor. The NY Strip blew my socks off. I almost always eat ribeyes due to the marbling and juiciness that is inherent to the cut, however, this strip....oh this strip...may make me a fan of them, only, I want it from here always. What sets this amazing place apart from other steak houses, and trust I have tried many since I travel throughout the country very regularly, is the way it's cooked. I'm not talking about the seasonings they offer or the bastes. I'm talking about the sear. When I tell you they have this perfected, I mean to a science. The steak has a slight char on the surface, and when you sink your teeth into it, it just burst with juice and flavor. I didn't know you could get the sear this freakin good without jeapordizing over-cooking your cut of meat. And to boot, Mike was my server the first day and did a spectacular job. Steph, who looked after me the second, and man....was she easy on the eyes, performed flawlessly and even brought out some extra cherry tomatoes for my salad. Had Mike the third time and he delivered yet again. On this day I was able to meet Chef Devon whom I praised and complimented on a job well done. Also, Fred, either the owner or manager was awesome. Laid back fella with a bright and welcoming demeanor. Classy folks, although I'm just a blue-collar man myself. Great job here folks, y'all certainly had my tongue beatin' the sides of my face silly! We found this place due to Penn St Detour and wow is all I can say. Everything was great from the moment we arrived with a 7:30 reservation on Saturday 20 May. We arrived a little early and opted to sit and have a drink at the bar, after two great martinis,we were seated promptly at 7:30. We started with the calamari as an appetizer , it was prepared perfectly and seasoned with Thai chili sauce, best we ever had. We both had filet mignon and I added a lobster tail to my dinner. It was prepared and cooked perfectly. The staff was awesome and professional.This place is some of the best fine dining in Berks county. It's so nice to have a good place this good without having to drive to Philadelphia. We can't wait to return. read more

We've eaten here a few times and always a fantastic meal with excellent service. Had the charcuterie board last night and it easily fed the five of us. Arthur was a great waiter. My wife and I ate here randomly, we were driving into west reading to check out the scene there when we passed this place and decided to change things up for the night. It was a great decision, the staff was friendly, the service was great and the food was fantastic! Yes, it's a little bit on the high end financially, but it's worth it. I had the New York strip steak (14oz) with mushrooms and sautéed onions on top. My wife had a side salad with steak and both of our steaks were done to our liking. Everything about our dining experience was great. Our waitress Erica was a delight and when we return we will definitely ask to be seated at one of her tables. We started with the filet crostini. My husband got the veal chop which he raved about. I got the crab cake which was delicious. We saved room for dessert and had a wonderful chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. This was our first time here. Just know right out it is expensive. 1/2 dozen oysters are more than you would pay in New York City. That being said, the steak was excellent! Crab amazing as were the lamb lollipops. Lobster was close to being overdone but the best we've had in the area. Service was great! Bartender willing to find the perfect wine of our choice! I was in town for a popular event, looking for a nice meal. Willoughby's was good. The veggies and starch was a little over seasoned. Thought it was a little over priced but not outrageous. Read on to know why they deserved a star taken off!! My husband and I just had dinner at the bar. The drinks and food were amazing. I'd give it five stars, however, to start, we had to ask for water. My husband first asked for both of us and the bartender only brought him a glass. We are both having dinner so...? Next, we were never offered bread. Maybe that is a bar thing? Finally, and what I was most upset about, my husband ordered a steak. The menu said all steaks come with the potato and veggie of the day. We were planning on ordering a side of the lobster mashed potatoes but when we heard his steak came with mashed and zucchini we decided to get fries and mushrooms as extra sides. His meal comes and the sides on the plate are fries and mushrooms, not mashed and zucchini. We figured the bartender misunderstood and substituted and we were ok with that. However, when the bill came we were still charged for both sides, although not noted on the bill, just added to the steak price! They basically omitted his included free sides and sneaked in the charge! We felt that was pretty rude and sneaky... Check your recipes!! read more

Came in last night with my wife. The place was packed. The very friendly host told us there would be a small wait. We sat at a high top table for a little while and had a great glass of wine (great happy hour 5-6:30!! We missed it, unfortunately) until we could get a table. Two bar seats opened up so we sat there. Dinner was fantastic. I got the special (filet with scallops and bearnaise). My wife got the lamb. Just amazing. Service was good. The female bartender wasn't great and looked to be lost -she didn't really acknowledge us except to take a food order- but she was nice. The male bartender (Lee- he introduced himself) was pretty fun to watch. I can't put my finger on it but I'd describe his bartending to be stylish. He was making drinks for everyone out in the restaurant but still made time to stop and chat with everyone for a minute and offer a nice quip. Btw, this guy makes the best old fashioned ever. The decor is elegant and reminds me of something that came out of an old movie (in a good way). It's nice to have a great steakhouse in berks! read more

Service was okay. Drinks were good. Apps were great. Meals were disappointing. We came with a group of 9 to celebrate a birthday and none of our meals were exceptional and had 2 scallop meals come out cold and one steak was completely over done. After microwaving the scallop meals the plates came back piping hot with still cold scallops and risotto. After informing our server of our disappointment nothing was done. We questioned why a manager had not been to our table and she was even surprised that one had not been by our table and apologized saying that the owner was not in. It seemed pretty clear that things are run a little differently when the owner is not in. When it came time for dessert we ordered a vanilla bean cream brulé which came out as a pumpkin cream brulé. After all of this our server continued to apologize and told us a round of drinks would be taken off of our bill. We thought this was a nice, fair gesture until we received the bill and saw that only 2 drinks totaling $19 were deducted from our bill. More bad than good gets you 2 stars. read more

Went here for the first time last night. Fancy place, definitely expensive. Our waitress was nice enough, wasn't terribly knowledgeable about the menu, specials or ingredients. To her credit, she did go to ask someone if she didn't know the answer to something. Food took some time to come out. Portions were a healthy size. My friend said her steak was excellent. I requested to have no sauces on my food, which the waitress happily said they could accommodate, however my food was VERY OVERSALTED. Like, almost inedible. Luckily they used sea salt on my potato so I was able to scrape most of it off. My chicken wasnt too bad, other than the salt it was done well. We got the root vegetables to share, and although I wanted to, I just couldn't eat them as they were too salty. disappointed because the restaurant is nice, music is mellow, and the food looks really good but at the end of the day, you have to be able to eat it. Their menu says they can accommodate vegan and vegetarian requests, but I hope that doesn't mean when they have to alter a dish they simply over season. I will give it a second chance, hopefully it was an off night. read more

Finally we found time to get to Willoughby's on Park, hoping a fine steak house had come to Berks. I doubt that we will go back. It was not the bill, which WAS pricey when compared to our favorite spot for a great steak, the Progress Grill in Harrisburg. It wasn't the service which was attentive, although maybe a little hurried. (I was still enjoying my wedge salad when the entree was delivered.) It wasn't the atmosphere which was lovely, if not a little dark. (Bring a flashlight to read the menu.) It was not the food which was "meh, I've had better." How can you take a perfectly good filet and not grill it to create the char that enhances the flavor? Mine was barely pan seared and then perhaps baked? REALLY?? But I digress. The off-putting detail was the way we were greeted by both the maitre'de AND the waitress. Both greeted us with, "Are you celebrating something special?" We laughed all the way home that we must have looked like we had just tucked the cows into the barn to elicit such a demeaning query. We are both in our 70's, retired professionals who like a nice meal, prepared with care, but have long since chosen to dress for comfort in favor of flash. The impression that we must have, "saved up for this night out" was far from the truth and insulting, if not humorous. read more
