My overall experience at Willowbrook was good. I wasn't impressed with the kitchen but the bathroom was wonderful. The distance from the resort to split rock is walkable is decent weather. The galleria has a pit and bar area which doubles as an activity center. The theater offered new movies but smelled like dirty carpet. The dollar toll fee is returned with a purchase at the bar or galleria. The best eating option here was the weekend buffet at the galleria which cost a family of four about $40 otherwise please travel off site. The water park was closed most of my trip but the pool was a great spot for the kids. Our booking was last minute so we didn't really have a nice room a little old. Not renovated before this visit I can't remember last time I see a tv with a back lol. Wifi is spotty keeps turning off Other then that the hotel is a little confusing getting around from the lobby to your room takes a while. The front desk takes ages but the people are VERY VERY nice. EATING HAS TO BE PA TIME all places close at 8-10 pm. So make sure you eat on time. That's the only thing I hate when leaving NY beds are comfortable & well done. Water park was nice my girls enjoyed themselves and I will be coming back. But in order to enjoy what split Rock offers you have to stay a few days and really organize your trip from home because the signal here is terrible (t-mobile) so do your homework before you get here. I own timeshares in Willowbrook and we come up every year. First of all I see people complaining about things that are not quite accurate. A call to housekeeping will get you extra clean towels, paper goods, dishwasher soap, toilet paper etc. delivered promptly. But we have always had a starter pack in our unit. The coupon for the water park works for more than 4 people. We brought in 5 people and they charged us the same rate proportionally for the 5th person. Check in is at 5PM. It did take a while but the people were really nice. My bed was not at all hard. Ownership on this resort turned over last August (2014) and the new owners have been working really hard and spending lots of money to bring it back up to premier status. It takes some time to correct the lack of maintenance by the former owner. We have been coming back here for many years and always enjoy our stay. Resort is very nice however customer service sucks. These people did not get my reservations correct , gave me one price then charged my credit card 3X's the stated amount. I was dealing with a woman named Nancy and she acts as if I am in fault for her company mistake. This is not a good thing. You have to feel comfortable all the way around. Really wish I had read the reviews before booking !The only good thing about the place is its proximity to the Pocono NASCAR Track. The place is understaffed, dingy & dirty. The foliage is overgrown. The service was non-existent, no one was available to answer questions or fix problems! And the place smelled. We were in the Willowbrook Condos, by default. My original room was to over look Lake Harmony, when I got there I discovered it was a third floor room with no elevators! I can not do stairs. I was given a suite, on the first floor of the Condo as a replacement. I didn't need a place for four people. Nor did I need to pay for it, I thought I was getting an AARP bargain. I would never go back and would never recommend it. hey charge a facilities fee for their amenities whether you use them or not. If you saw them, believe me you would not use them! I am not complaining because of that, I wasn't there to use the resort features, it was just a place to stay. Even my husband said it didn't feel clean. If I hadn't paid for Terrace Club seating at the track and needed I place, I would have left! read more

We stayed at Willowbrook in Aug 2012. The one bedroom suite we exchanged for was spacious, clean, and equipped fairly well. I was pleased that they provided free wi-fi, but disappointed that the tv did not include any ppv options, as we would have loved to see a movie after our toddler went to sleep, or peruse an on demand show, etc. We ended up using our computer/ipad for that type thing instead. They did have a dvd player, so you may consider bringing something to play... Speaking of our toddler, we were chagrined when we arrived to find that neither the main door to the hallway nor the door to the patio (1st floor, higher they are balconies), anyway - neither door had a chain or bar method to secure the door at eye level from the inside. Our patio door had a dead bolt, but like the hallway door, if you pull the handle twice the bolt unlocks on the first pull and the door opens on the second. We were a bit apprehensive that our toddler would open the door while we were asleep or similar scenario, and made at least 3 calls to maintenance to see if one could be installed. Frankly, I can't remember the last time I stayed at a hotel or timeshare which didn't have one of these security devices installed. On the 2nd day a maintenance rep did come take a look at our concern, but wasn't concerned. He said that "hotels don't have those" *sigh* My child only opened the locked hallway door once, and only while my husband was standing nearby. I don't think we would bring him back to this location when he's older unless this is remedied. I truly believe a pre-schooler would be at risk in this situation. We went to the H20ooooh water park twice during the week. It was well0-done, and I liked that it was indoors. I would say it is a good park for up through pre-teen age, older than that would get bored quickly. We made a day trip to Sesame Place, only about 1.5 hrs drive. It is a totally doable trip, and I recommend it. We had brunch one day at Piggy's in town. Excellent. We spent one day at the Lake Harmony beach, which was ok. The water was cold for me, even in August. The paddle boats were fun... The mini golf course is beautifully landscaped, and we had fun. Split Rock offers daily activities, but frankly I felt they were a throw-back to a scene from Dirty Dancing. We didn't participate. We had a nice hike on one of the shorter trails in Hickory Run State Park only about 10 mins drive away. Beautiful. So, Willowbrook has some things to offer for families, particularly with kids. It loses points from me for the door lock issue, rock hard beds, no on demand tv, and separate a/c units in the 2 areas of the unit which have only ice cold and too warm choices. read more

A HIDDEN GEM in the Poconos This area is so beautiful, the views are amazing. Secluded in its own private area away from traffic and the front desk (different building). This sits on the golf course! Huge closets, Flat screen tv's, fireplace, modern kitchen, FULLY STOCKED. You are self sufficient! 27 hole golf course with the other 9 being built! Nice water garden areas with benches perfect spot for a book! Terrace has a grill and beautiful decor for a nice outdoor bbq. Balcony is trex decking! And if you want activities there are literally over 30+ things to do for ALL ages. We will be back read more

I have to agree with George S. if this is supposed to be the best place to be in Lake Harmony the rest must really be 4 hour hoe-tels. The room is spacious enough I was under the impression that there would be more bedrooms but i guess that's my fault for not double checking. As far as service in the hotel don't expect much anything you ask them for is no. Don't try to call the front desk unless you have at least 20 minutes to waste. Maid service was just bathroom and bed service didn't bother to clean kitchen or living room. Thank God we decided to bring some provisions otherwise i probably would have starved. I come from a family business but i adhere to high standards and believe that a customer complaint is the worst thing that could happen, these people seem to think that there doing me a favor for letting me into there motel with a water park and gym attached. These people really need to travel to other resorts and learn allot about customer service. The kids liked the water park and they really enjoyed the tennis courts, but for the life of me i dint understand why they don't have towels in the water park. They have a little restaurant and gift shop but don't get your hopes up. 3 cheap towels cost me $50 and a they don't have water proof goggles, why would you want goggles that are not water proof? I really doubt i would come back honestly for $1000 for 2 nights I'm sure i could find a much better way to spend it. As an ending note on the way home we stopped by the front desk and asked that they go through there lost and found as we were told to do the night before for a bathing suite that was accidentally left behind in the locker rooms of the water park the night before. After 20 minutes of waiting i decided to go check on my baby mama. It seems like they told her that they didn't have time to look through the lost and found and that she would have to come back later. I found her searching the locker rooms. Even though she already explained that we were checking out and on our way back to NY. Eventually we were told ( and i think only to get rid of us) that the lady with the key to the lost and found didn't come in until much later and that they would mail it to us. I really don't think we will ever see that delivery! read more

We are timeshare guests we banked our week and made reservations for the week of Thanksgiving. We came with our two children who are 4 and 2. We don't need much. We stayed in a two bedroom unit in Willowbrook. The unit was fine I don't need granite counter tops when I am in vacation. The beds were ok the mattress and pillows were average to below average. The kids had fun swimming in the indoor pools just disappointed that neither had a shower or bathroom in the same area you had to leave the pool area and go out in the hall or walk past the dining area. The indoor water park was great. Hours of fun and reasonable. We have never been to Great Wolf Lodge to compare but price wise we saved a lot by staying here. Staff was helpful and friendly. We did go bowling in the arcade area it was reasonable and they had shoes small enough for our two year old. They really enjoyed that and the arcade on a cold snowy day. Am I surprised its a gold resort with interval yes maybe it should be a silver at best. read more

This is suppose to be the best place to stay in split rock, lake harmony, PA. If it is, boy the others must be really bad, not that this place is bad. The only thing don't like is the bed (hard as a rock), pillows (flat as a pancake), and small shower. Everything else is great! they have a fire place which heats up the whole living area, nice whirl pool tub, and spacious dining and kitchen area. If you go to the galleria to eat, don't expect much in the way of taste. It's your typical country cooking, and don't wear a coat in the galleria, you're going to sweat. I think the indoor pool heats up the whole galleria 2 fold. It's a toss up whether I would come back here, probably would though, especially since they are doing a lot of renovations now. read more

Split Rock Resort has different sets of villas. We stayed in the Willowbrook section, which is the newest but the furthest from the amenities. Lots to do here and everyone is very friendly. The 2 bedroom lockoff was clean and well appointed. We will be back. read more

Great place to go with your family but if you are staying timing the townhouses...... don't! They are in need of renovations. The beds are very uncomfortable, It looks like a scene from The movie Michael Myers back in the 70's!!! The galleria was better and have better beds but it is really loud there because all the activities are in that building. The ice cream shop is good and the pool and movie theatre also but I believe they should have placed all activities i a delegate building outside of sleeping quarters. read more

Due to some unpleasant reviews my husband and I weren't expecting much when we were planning our trip to the Willowbrook at Split Rock. I don't know what other people expect for the price but this place exceeded our expectations. The rooms are very clean and spacious, very comfortable for a week's stay. Yes, the Galleria is a little outdated but the fact that there is so much going on there puts decor on the backburner. This resort reminds me of the country club in the movie Dirty Dancing. They are family oriented and want to make sure you aren't going to be bored due to the numerous activities they have planned for the week. If that's not your thing, check out the Thirsty Moose or go bowling or see a movie. This place has it all and the staff is very helpful and nice. Again, for the price, my husband and I have no complaints. We will definitely be back in the warmer months. read more

We traded a week to be here from our home resort. The unit is clean and fairly new (we're in bldg. 5). The kitchen is basic, but we cooked many meals here. We had a problem with our shower, but housekeeping sent a repairman over promptly and fixed the problem. Having only one bathroom has been a little tough with the two kids, but we've managed. Kids would prefer to not be sharing the sofa bed, but it is what it is. We've found all of the staff from the front desk, to activity leaders, repairmen, and life guards to be friendly and helpful. Old TVs? We have two decently sized, flat screen TVs. H2oooh! watermark was expensive, but a hit with the kids. The bonus is that you can exit and re-enter as many times as you like on the same day. The on site movie theater was fine. You can visit many attractions (Dorney Park, Bushkill Falls, rafting trips) in about an hour. We would trade again here in a few years. read more

Worst service we've ever had at a hotel. Put our name in at the lobby at 1pm and told to check back in "in a few hours." When asked what that meant- she said by 4pm. While checking in several other guests had complained as well. We ventured to the pool/lake bar and the service was great-decided to grab some food in the moose tavern and took at least 30min for a Bartender to acknowledge me. Once I was, I asked how long a quesadilla would take, he said "a long time," so I walked away. We ventured over to another place located across the river and took quite awhile. Around 6pm went to check back into the hotel and waited in line for 25min before I decided to walk to the front of the line. They gave us the room keys and we went to the room. We arrived at the hotel room and de used to try the room keys before unloading our luggage and the room key didn't work. I called the "house phone" and they told me to come back to the check in area. Arrived back at the hotel area and waited a few minutes before jumping the line to the next available attendant. I mentioned that the room key was incorrect and the room was already attended and mentioned the service overall had been terrible and we had waited 5 hrs to get a room. They refunded us the money for our room. read more

Our family has stayed at Willowbrook several times. We just returned from there today. This year was very disappointing. The fans and light fixtures were full of dust. The vents on the heater, which run constantly, we're full of dust and webs. The shower had mold in it. The bathroom walls had mold on the walls. I actually went out and bought cleaner for the shower. The sofa beds felt like all springs. The soda in the vending machine was over a year old. The front desk explained they are not responsible for the machine. The worst thing was people partying and yelling in the middle of the night. Then, I remembered the front door to the building is open all day and all night. I was actually scared and felt unsafe. I also remembered how long it took the operator to answer the phone. Getting towels was an ordeal I. Itself. It was very disappointing to say the least. read more

Previous reviewers confused the Gallaria with Willowbrook which is a great place on a golf course (18 & 9 hole courses) which has fireplace, jetted tubs, kitchen and recently built and set off from the Split Rock Lodge. It's near Jack Frost and Pocono Raceway. We'd be going back for another great time at a great value. read more

It is so true I took my kids there over the winter break Dec 13,2012 for a week. The hotel needs a MAJOR renovations it is still in the 70's and they did not have any winter activities within the resort. As a timeshare owner I should not have to pay $1 every time to enter into the gate if I choose to leave. There menu in the restaurant at the hotel need to be updated with more food choices, they need to have more in the gift shop since there are no stores local, you have to drive a ways to get to a store. We stayed in the condo and they need to have things in each condo on the main floors. If you wanted a soda,juice, or snack you have to drive to the restaurant. I would not recommend this place. With the amount of money I pay for my maintenance fees the place should be up-to -date with its decor this is 2013 not 1970's. read more

I was scared to death after booking this trip. I read the reviews and it seemed like the worst mistake we were about to ever make. We were driving from NC with 3 kids, 9,7 and 21 months. I called ahead and they said that snow tubing was 2 miles away and that even if we stayed in Willowbrook we could walk to the Galleria where everything was.Yeah, not really. The suite is AMAZING! It's HUGE! We didn't have an issue at all with the one bathroom. There were tons of things to do for my older 2 at The Galleria while the baby slept here at the suite. My husband took the kids to the movie (I was hoping it would be open all the time but it was only at 8pm at night). I would probably eat in the suite before I spent the money at the Galleria. It's really pricey and I'm not sure how clean it is. The food wasn't all that good either. We didn't eat at the pizza place at all. You can't use your receipt from the toll for pizza, but you can for ice cream. You can only use 2 at a time and the ice cream is $2.75 so you'll still have to pay about $1.00. The gift shop is pretty pricey as you would expect. The first morning here I went to the grocery store about 5 miles away. It's a little mom and pop grocery store, something you'd expect back home I guess, nothing fancy, but really no more pricey than at home. That was a huge help because the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. There is also a CVS, A DOLLAR GENERAL and a FAMILY DOLLAR. There's a Dunkin Donuts and that's it. No, seriously, that's IT!I thought I was from a small town, but wow. They do have a 24 hour WaWa though. We went snow tubing on Sunday and while it was pricey it was SO worth it. SO much fun! That was at Big Bolder. But, alas, we were hitting the spring season and that was the last day it was open. On Monday after researching we realized there's lots of stuff for kids. Monday my kids went to Kid Fun Games with Kim and she was AWESOME. You know how some people are born to work with kids? Her! They had spoon and egg races and relays and all the kids won prizes, even if they didn't win. She made sure everything was fair. My daughter won a free hour of tennis, a free ice cream and my son won a free popcorn. They advertise the movie as a full movie theater. Think the smallest theater you've ever been in, no cup holders, etc, but still so nice to have it here and not have to leave the "reservation." The unit was super nice and there are deer everywhere. I guess they are used to people because they constantly looked at us like we were stupid. Seriously, they had a look on their faces like, "What, haven't you ever seen a deer before?" The water park was amazing. We spent for 2 days, 4 people what we could have gotten a room at the great wolf lodge for, but we wanted something different. The dollar toll wasn't a big deal because there was really no reason to leave the "reservation." There certainly wasn't anything to do outside of it. My kids were fine staying in the room and going to the pool, which did seem to be over chlorinated, but wasn't an issue once we got inside. Luke from the water park was AMAZING! I asked him about things to do and he found and printed out directions to the crayola factory and tracked me down to give them to me. Later I heard some lady cursing him out, dropping f bombs like crazy over some towels and he totally kept his calm and went and got her some towels. Phyllis from the water park was also great. I can't say enough about Kim from Social events. She was awesome and my favorite person here. There were 2 chicks who kinda rubbed me the wrong way, another social person named Ms. Pat. She's old and very abrasive. Scared my kids to death within 2 minutes of meeting them. Then there's a chick in the arcade, EVERY time I saw her she was on her I-phone. She was supposed to be leading board games for kids, ON THE PHONE. I asked her several questions about Bocce Ball, she never moved from her seat, just kept pointing at the door and saying in there (it wasn't). Again, with the phone. We probably won't come back here just because it's so far and we don't like to go the same places twice, but overall out of a 10 I'd give it an 8. We had a wonderful time in Willowbrook, but you do have to drive to the Galleria. I talked to several people who were staying there and they said it was SO loud! Plus, I know my kids would be driving me crazy to be in the pool, arcade, etc if we stayed in that building. Our suite was SPOTLESS! Totally worth the drive to the galleria when we wanted to do something. If you don't want to spend any money, don't vacation here, but if you go in knowing you will have to spend some, then do. There are lots of free events for kids though. read more

I cannot believe so many people are criticizing this place. We have traded in about 5 times and it is my kids' favorite place to go. We have stayed in the cabins on the main road- yes they are dated...we call it rustic and for goodness sake what do you expect in the woods?! We have also stayed in Willowbrook- yes the units are nicer and more up do date but my kids actually prefer the other units, and honestly, so do I. As for the water park, the price is pretty commensurate with other similar places. Yes, they do charge for many of the activities but the fees are nominal and you can win free vouchers if you do some of the activities (yes even free activities). My kids love the activities here. The food is decent and also not expensive compared to other places we've been. If you're looking for a 5 star fancy place this is not it. If you're looking for a place with tons of family fun, this is perfect. My only complaint is that it's so hard to trade into in the summer! Also, we rarely need to leave the premises, there is so much to do here, that the dollar toll is not an issue. The charge is because it's a private road and I imagine it is to maintain it which is not a bad thing as some of the places we've travelled to have some pretty scary roads in and out. read more
