Excellent deli food. I might have to move to Seattle to have better access to the deli food!

SUNSET HILL GREEN MARKET: A VERDANT VALIDATION OF MY GREEN OBSESSION…read more Listen, while other markets waste time with multiple colors like some kind of chromatic circus, Sunset Hill Green Market understands the ABSOLUTE SUPREMACY of the color green. Their sign isn't just green - it's the exact shade of green that makes other greens question their commitment to greenness. Let me tell you about their produce section, which is basically a museum of green excellence. Their lettuce display? GREEN. Their kale arrangement? GREENER. Their broccoli presentation? THE GREENEST. It's like if Kermit the Frog designed a market but was REALLY serious about brand consistency. You haven't lived until you've witnessed their bell pepper selection, where they've somehow managed to source ONLY green ones. Red peppers need not apply. Yellow peppers? Please see yourself out. Orange peppers? Don't even think about it. This is a GREEN ONLY ESTABLISHMENT, and they're not sorry about it. Their bulk section features exclusively green products: green split peas, green lentils, green tea, and what I can only assume are specially selected green grains. I once saw someone try to purchase brown rice and the staff just silently pointed to the green rice (yes, they have that). The lighting is specifically calibrated to enhance the greenness of everything. It's like being inside a photosynthesis party where only the most verdant are invited. Their shopping baskets? Green. Their price tags? Green. Their employee uniforms? You guessed it - seventeen different shades of green layered for maximum green impact. Five stars for creating a space that celebrates the only color that matters. I've started hosting weekly green appreciation sessions where we just stand in different aisles comparing shades of green while wearing green clothing and drinking green smoothies. P.S. Their "Not Green Enough" return policy seems harsh but fair. I watched someone try to return a lime for not being green enough and honestly, they had a point. P.P.S. The security cameras are green. The security footage probably comes out looking like night vision, but that's just more green, so it's perfect. Note: This review was written while sitting in their green customer lounge, on a green chair, using a green pen, because commitment to theme matters. Special Addendum: To the customer who suggested they add some "pop of color" - first of all, how dare you, and secondly, the exit signs are already compromising enough by being legally required to be red. Final Thought: Never has a market so bravely stood against the tyranny of the full color spectrum. It's like if a forest decided to open a retail establishment but was really specific about its aesthetic. Remember: The first rule of Green Market is we don't talk about other colors. The second rule is also about not talking about other colors. Actually, all the rules are about maintaining green supremacy. Warning: Side effects may include seeing green spots when you close your eyes, developing strong opinions about different shades of green, and unconsciously organizing your own home by levels of greenness. P.P.P.S. Their new "Green Loyalty Program" awards points based on how much green you wear while shopping. Someone showed up in chartreuse last week and caused quite a scandal. Health Department Note: Yes, even their mold is purposefully green. They're very proud of this fact.

If this store is the bulk items. Good variety and you buy what you need so you don't end up with spices, nuts or granola that may go bad. Prices are reasonable.

But the real problem is the exorbitant prices and the shoppers here look more than willing to pay those prices, so they must be really very well off. Typical prices are 25% to 40% higher than Safeway or Fred Meyer and that's not an exaggeration. Most of the deli salads are $10 a pound or more which is crazy high. The deli sandwiches are delicious and they are high price but they are well loaded with food about $9 each. Fresh lamb cuts are $15.99 a pound; fresh hamburger $10 a pound. Eggs are $9.00 a dozen and more. Talenti gelato is $6 a pint which is $1.50 higher than Amazon Fresh. I really don't buy much here except things like the deli sandwiches or hard to find soft drinks like Fentiman's, which are a real treat. The rest is just too expensive. Freezer manager: check them. There is a LOT of frost on the ice cream and frozen treats. You probably have a seal leak somewhere. I really liked the Skagit Valley Deli Chicken Sandwich, esp. when heated.
