    Variation of color facings
    Allie T.

If there was a rating of no stars, that's what this outfit deserves... if you are looking for scratched, chipped, imperfect color match nail putty, lack of quality and attention to details- look no further. Furthermore, bend over and grab your ankles and pay top dollars! I cannot begin to warn you enough about the sloppiness and unethical character of the owner, Tony Martinez. Not only did he secure more than 1/2 deposit, had me running around in circles for the first three months while he attempted to secure the right wood veneers. Finally, in full circle - came back to producing the right product that I originally shown in a photo from our first meeting. In those months, he tried to push painted cabinets instead of what I wanted "ripped white oak." I guess Four times is a charm- right?! Then, to have the audacity and demanded 20% more as a change order with another lie by justifying, " the cost of wood veneers are extremely unstable, costs keep going up. So, I need more money to buy all veneers in one purchase to secure best price and grain/ color consistency match." So, I got conned into additional cost and another huge deposit demanded by him. Two months have past, I've made several trips to his shop, I see not one single production of my skeletons. Now, it's 5 months into my worst nightmare, he delivered horrific cabinets with no drawers or hardware. He's attempted to make some repairs, but now they look worse. To make matters worse, he stood my representative and me for a walk through this week. Now he's not returning our phone calls. I await to see how this nightmare will continue... stay tune! Chapter two... Delivered some cabinet door facings and colors are not consistent. As we know, he did not buy them all at once to secure consistency in grain and color. One cabinet door had a visible 1/2" dent. Some of the edges where veneers meet are peeling off from insufficient glue or lack thereof. Tony threaten to stone wall the job again my demanding more payment. He walked off the job and called my legal representative 5 separate occasions. With each call, his demeanor changed to be less threatening to wanting to finish the job. Have you ever heard of a saying... " once- shame on you, but twice - shame on me." Since he walked out, I found a great new cabinet maker who will complete my kitchen cabinets, give me the little things like wine rack, spice drawer, and corner lower cabinet shelving , which were originally promised by Tony. In addition, make all the necessary repairs done by Tony, all for less. New cabinet maker would have bid the entire kitchen and linen cabinet and bathroom vanity at a 40% savings! A very valuable lesson learned by me. Chapter Three "hall linen cabinet and bathroom vanity." These are done in black walnut wood veneers. Three lacquer runs on cabinet facings. Corner edge was sanded to a rounded corner. Training and color are inconsistent. Interior cabinets have many scratches. Wood trimming on the linen came chipped and several dents. Nail puddy and repairs were disastrous! Definitely not Tony's skill set to have attention to details. Poor sanding, rough finish throughout. Stay tune for photo postings.

You ladies reading this will know exactly what I mean. Original Richard did terrific stucco and paint job on my parents house 10 years ago. It took a few exorbitant estimates before I thought to ask who did the work at their house. A hole in the stucco from an old dryer vent was patched as well as some cracks. The wooden eaves were painted. They even filled in divots in the eaves left by a prior contractor. This had been an eyesore which had been bugging me for the last 3 years. The crew was professional and showed up when they said they would. Original Richard did a top notch job at a reasonable price.

Let me add that we previously had the other 3 balconies done in 2022. These other 3 we took the lead on organizing the different contractors for the different work (i.e., demo, structure, electrical, plumbing, railings, flooring, stucco etc). The goal this time was not to be involved and have Rocha take point. Initially, it felt like we had made a good choice, but then we had a pause in having work done. Upon checking in we learned Gilbert was in the hospital. His wife Marie assisted with getting work moving forward. Gilbert was not seen for about 6 weeks. And during this time we had many days when no work was done. Once Gilbert was back he was not the same. We had to spend many hours tracking work and what needed to be done to keep the project moving, along with the bookkeeping, when he asked for a large amount over what was owed. The project took longer than initially projected, which we were ok with to get a good end product. Once the balconies were finished, final payment made, we asked for warranty information, Gilbert Rocha said he would forward. Warranty information was never received after multiple emails requesting. Not even 6 months later our railings are rusting at the welding joints. Gilbert Rocha's emails bounce back and the numbers are not in service. He may be out of business, but we still deserve to have a warranty to have the safety of railings corrected.

One plumber could install a gas line only, another plumber could install a gas line and the gas cooktop but not the hood, and an appliance installation technician could not install the cooktop because he could not cut into the existing granite top. So I found Max of MRI Construction and Remodeling on Yelp, and he said that he could do the work within that original scope -- cooktop, hood, and gas line -- but that we should anticipate a backup plan in case the granite cracked during installation. Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. We are happy to say that we just finished our kitchen renovation last week! And it was finished a week earlier than scheduled. We are thankful to Max and his team of subcontractors! We are really happy with the final kitchen, given how much we cook at home. And surprisingly the process was easy despite its size and time of 6 weeks. Max has the strengths and qualities you want for your construction projects: he's incredibly responsive, honest and communicative, and willing and able to troubleshoot issues that come up, as they invariably do, both small and large. He makes recommendations if you ask and gives you options for decisions for which there are too many options. He works with an amazing group of subcontractors who are experts in their craft. There was an exception with one subcontractor but Max was able to get that course-corrected so that the project finished strong. We appreciate his integrity and his willingness to ensure that the project meets your needs and expectations. We are grateful that we found Max on Yelp and for being able to work with him on a kitchen that we love and also within budget!! Thank you, Max and MRI Construction!!

The kitchen was a complete replacement of floor, cabinets, counter, fluorescent light panel (to LEDs), and sink. In the bathroom we replaced everything but the floor tile. Max was able to provide a reasonable estimate for the project and start the project on a timeline that worked for me. This job was also complex because I don't live in the area and could only be there occasionally to review the work. MRI construction was helpful and communicative throughout the process, making sure that all of the tile, finishes, and accessories were ready to go. Ultimately the job was finished on budget and a week EARLY. I would definitely recommend Max and MRI for their honesty, quality of work, cost of work, and ability to do difficult jobs. It's not easy to find a great contractor and Max is definitely on that list!

Regardless CCS is responsible for the horrible job they did on my house. Oh and since it's been 1 1/2 years since you left the job I am adding a photo of cracking of the stucco in June. Stucco and color coat. David said "we've been doing this over 20 years. We could do it in our sleep". Well from bead blast to what they considered finished, this was a train wreck! Run, do not walk from this company. Read all the other reviews which are just as bad as mine. I was also told by Jason if I took my original one star review down he would "take care of it". We agreed (stupidly) to allow them to use one wall as a test wall. 8 layers of "glue" and color coat changed nothing. It was bad prep from the head blast that left uneven surfaces so I have a leopard house. Then they were going to "stain" the stucco! Their choice was Acribond from Vista. I spoke to the expert at Vista and said "we make paint and only paint. Acribond is a water thinned paint". So CCS's website says to never paint stucco. Hmmmm. Now I have one 1/2 painted test wall and 10 months later they never fixed a damn thing, and all of their work is cracked and now showing the old color. Absolutely worthless company run by thieves.

Late on a Friday evening, we discovered serious floor damage beneath our tenant's bathroom toilet after it was removed during a plumbing repair. We had added urgency to repair it ASAP since this is the only bathroom in the property. We received a few competitive quotes but ultimately chose to move forward with Bryce because of his thoroughness, attention to detail, promptness, and professionalism from the very beginning. Throughout the entire process, he took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions/concerns, was proactive in finding solutions, and made us feel confident that the work was being done correctly. The quality of the work was excellent and his team worked efficiently to complete the project in two days. On top of the emergency repair, we also decided to update the vanity to match the new floors. Bryce went above and beyond by helping us with materials and design choices late on a Saturday night. The final result turned out great and we're very happy with how everything came together. It can be difficult to find trustworthy, reliable contractors in this industry, which made us even more grateful to have come across Bryce and his team. Most importantly, we wanted to find someone we could continue working with for future projects, and we definitely did. Highly recommend Bryce and his team!

They brought back the signature curves that make our house so special. One of our requests was to build a rounded hallway to separate the guest room from the rest of the house and they absolutely nailed it, even bringing in tons of natural light. We also asked for curved awnings to protect the new windows and doors from the rain, since our flat roof doesn't allow for gutters. They executed it beautifully and even added lighting under the garage awnings, which was a thoughtful touch. During the renovation, we ran into mold and water damage. LVL gave us a very fair price to remove the damaged materials and rebuild the walls. We also had them replace the roof due to the water issues, and once again, they delivered excellent work. They replaced all the baseboards throughout the house and painted everything inside and out. I had always dreamed of having a Dutch door in the kitchen, and they made it happen, from sourcing it to installing and painting it to match the new windows they had already put in. They repainted the kitchen cabinets and installed new tile, and the result is really nice. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I truly can't recommend their work highly enough!

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. The same same day, received a response from Elena (office manager) stating "we are booked until September 21st and not accepting new project but we will put you on our waiting list". "Our team will contact you in case of any cancellations". After patiently waiting, 2-1/2 months, on September 29th, I received an update from Elena stating "Good morning Jeff!!! We are looking for a new project starting in November. Please leave us a note with the property address and your email. We will reach out to you after 10/10". So I did just that only to receive an immediate reply "Unfortunately, we are unable to help you because your zip code 90250 is outside our service area". This was very disturbing as we've been waiting 2-1/2 months and if this was known, we would have contacted another construction company. I responded to Elena "that is interesting, my home is 6.5 miles from Pulsar and clearly within your service area, per your website map". Elena replied "we can't consider your project since it is territorially located in Los Angeles". I explained to Elena, this is absolutely false as my Fusion at Southbay home with Hawthorne zip code 90250 is an "incorporated" city in LA county, the same as Manhattan, Redondo and Hermosa - in which my home literally borders MB/RB directly across Aviation Blvd. I then texted her all of the supporting screen shots (including map area of my home to Pulsar), Pulsar's website stating "We specialize in serving the SOUTH BAY of Los Angeles for 9 years". Elena, my home is in the "South Bay of Los Angeles. I requested to speak with the Owner only to be completely ignored by her going forward. In summary, my renovations would have been completed by now. I lost 3 months and have to start the entire process over again looking for another construction company. I received daily texts and emails regarding progress made and any concerns or questions that arose. Also, I received prompt responses to my calls or texts. The team was flexible, working with me regarding my scheduling needs. Dmitry's and Elena's attention to detail and high standards of work were also greatly appreciated.
