This is an amazing campground! The North Pole Resort is a…read moretop tiered campground that knows exactly how a campground should be operated, from customer service to site arrangement and up keep! We had the privilege of staying in the 100 Acres section of the campground for a few nights in July and loved everything about our stay. The campground consists of two sections; the Resort section and the 100 Acre woods section (just 50 yards down the road). The resort section is located near the office and is a nice, more open, but spacious RV camping area. The 100-acre section is a wooded campground beautifully arranged and maintained. We stayed in the 100 Acres area and were very impressed with the layout of the sites, which were staggered/angled to put the most space between each site. We felt very secluded even though there were other sites around us. Our site was level, spotlessly clean and manicured, and had good water pressure and hookups. The combination restrooms/bathrooms were clean and conveyed a sense of regular maintenance being provided to them. Customer service is top notch and the staff prides themselves on welcoming guests as family. We overheard a current employee talking to a new employee stating that even if the campsite wasn't used prior to a new guest arriving, they always do a thorough check of the site to ensure everything is perfect! This impressed us and aligned with the overall sense of pride shown at NP campground. The camp store is probably one of the best stocked stores we have visited. Additionally, they had growler fills from 3 craft beers of tap right in the camp store!! We loved our stay at North Pole Resorts, which raised the bar pretty high for other campgrounds to live up to!

Buck Pond in the northern Adirondacks is one of the nicest campsites I've seen along the east…read morecoast. Actually beats some on the west coast too for camping snobs out there. The sites are nicely spaced so that you're not bumping up against an RV rave. As with any campground, some sites are significantly nicer than others. We were in site 84, pretty damn sweet with its own little trail to the lake. Not gonna divulge what we scouted as THE best which you need to reserve 9 months in advance FYI. Schedule that with your French Laundry resies. They also had boat rentals and a map of the many waterways to explore. Highly suggest the rope swing if you come across it on Rainbow Lake. The ranger/campground manager Bob is just generally awesome. He fueled our little firelet into a great big burner. Smoky the Bear, watch out! Bob also has a ski store in Jay, NY and is a part time maple syrup maker should anyone fancy a winter excursion to the Adirondacks.

Three basic, but very satisfying meals are provided each day (including a bag lunch to take with you on the trail). The bunks rooms serve their purpose as a place to crash after a long day on the trail. While you have to hike in almost 4 miles to reach the place you won't have to haul in a tent or cooking gear along with you : ) A good value and a valuable resource for those looking to explore the high peaks. We stayed at camping spot on lakeside and it was perfect! I'm very surprised that we didn't get a lot of mosquitoes. Maybe it could be something do with lake itself. Who knows! The bathroom is clean but I'm very impressed how CLEAN in the shower site!!! I love their shower because it's clean and hot water!!!! They have the specific time to clean the shower which they closes from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily. I would say it is worth to wait because we get a clean shower stall that I can't complain!!! Thank you so much for keeping the bathroom and shower site clean much as you can!!! I would recommend anyone to go camping there and perfect place for children to play as well.

Site 8 sits back in the woods away from everything with only a walk to the water. This is primitive camping at its finest. There's water, some incredibly clean pit toilets, and canoe rentals but that's about it. The campground is surrounded by 8,000 acres of state land and there's no development on the pond. There's a trail that goes around the lake but really if you come here it's all for the paddling.

We were serenaded nightly by live bands at the neighboring BBQ place for a couple hours. Staff was very helpful by phone and stayed late in order to check us in. Pre-registration via the website did save time at check-in.
