If you want rustic real back to nature Rollins pond is for you a lot of sites around the water. The views are spectacular. The scenery you can't go wrong a lot of the campsites are right on the water or a short path down to the water but each campsite has their own little Beach area. Rollins is more secluded with trees than the other two campgrounds. Which makes it real rustic. There is no cell phone service but that's okay. You're there to get back to nature and enjoy yourself. Don't forget to put your food in your car because of bears and raccoons. Sadly raccoons got into my bread and rolls because I forgot to put it away. Lesson learned but absolutely if you want a Adirondack experience back to nature Rollins pond campground is for you.

Todd was very accommodating to us when we had to switch dates for our vacation. He was also great with communication, giving us detailed welcoming and departing emails stocked with all sorts of info. There was one small glitch that Todd saw to in a very timely manor. The cabin had a kitchenette that had everything we needed for our week stay. Two separate bathrooms (with abundant hot water) were very nice to have and would come in handy for two couples or a family with kids. The Wi-Fi was fantastic - no issues. TV with Roku was nice though we used it just once. We made use of the fire pit, grill and picnic table almost every day. Corn hole and a horseshoe pit were also used. We also brought croquet and bocci sets that we used as there was ample space to play. $10 for firewood that could be used for 3 separate fires was a decent deal. It's a great location between Saranac and Placid. We discovered by unplugging an alarm clock that was going off around 2:00 a.m. that the light in that plug had electrical tape all around the end of it with wires poking out. We unplugged that too. We woke to 62 degrees in the room although the thermostat was set on 69 degrees. The outlet on that wall wouldn't work in the morning, although it worked the night before. We had to move the coffee pot to the opposite wall to use it. We packed up and left around 9:00 and our room was already unlocked (it was a code to get into the room). I left a note on the desk but haven't heard back from the motel.

While we really liked this resort I would not necessarily recommend it those with physical challenges. There are actually 3 separate buildings that compromise the resort. The building we were in had a lot of stairs and no elevator. The "main" building interior is beautiful and there are man made waterfalls out front. The main building does have an elevator but the amenities, like pools, are pretty spaced out and require considerable walking. The room we stayed in beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and mountains beyond. Of very special note: the Guest Services Manager- Ms Lia Collins- is a truly special person. She went beyond normal policy to help us out when unexpected circumstances caused us to cut our stay short. She treated us with caring and compassion- not just as customers. I highly recommend this hotel - aside from my accessibility comments. In my opinion- if accessibility is an issue for you- that you stay in the main building. Just be aware that there will be some walking. Overall a very nice place to stay!!

Stayed at lake house and king suite on the water front each for a couple of days…read more King suite by far better. Big, on the lake, comfier bed and pillows. There is a whirlpool bathtub we didn't use but the bathroom is huge. Downside in both rooms were spiders on the balcony (staying early September). Huge ones too. You brush them away and they come back in an hour. The lake house feels like camp. The room has a nice wood vaulted ceiling but that's the only nice feature. The carpet, bed and bathroom were pretty clean except that we found shavings in the sink and the faucet cap was missing and it was all rusted and corroded. The bathtub also had a draining problem. And the bathroom was super tiny, and the tissue box almost fell in the toilet multiple times. The toilet is not a home toilet but one you find in airport bathrooms. Blech. The best feature is the community room bar area which is really cute and spacious. The foosball table was fun but it is from the 80s or something. Small pool table, didn't get a chance to play. The atmosphere is a 60s chalet and it's great for playing board games, they have a few but we brought our own. As a guest at the resort you get access to all three building so doesn't matter where you stay, you can use all the services. Downstairs there is a pool and hot tub, just cement with a hole in it. My husband used the hot tub and was lucky no one else was in it. It's very big and has lots of jets. The whole room is very basic and can use a deep clean and some potted plants around or something to make it pretty. I have no idea what the rec room outside the pool could be, dirty carpeted area that I can picture a two year old running around circles in- that's about it. Wasted space. There is another pool and hot tub in the main building and it is a trek away from the other buildings as it's nestled in the back. It's super hot and steamy in the whole room and it looks newer than the other pool but still very basic. For a romantic getaway I highly suggest booking any waterfront room or suite, the view and rooms are much better cared for and more updated looking. Also having access right to the lake instead of walking across the street is a huge benefit. Only downside is the parking lot at waterfront is super tiny and you have to do multiple k turns and it took me 15 minutes to park into a spot. And the entry with the gates is awkward while your car sticks out in the middle of the street. But still the rooms and views are worth it. Only hotel I've seen that has paddle boats too. Lots of equipment available to borrow which is great. The place is a 4 star hotel but to me it's more of a 3. It is the cheaper of the 4 star hotels on mirror lake and I think it's because the amenities and rooms are old (still functional though). A lot of crevices in the rooms weren't cleaned, like spiderwebs in corners of the balconies and under the radiator. The service is very attentive though. They were super accommodating and everything I texted them about was dealt with in a timely manner. I really like their text service, so you don't have to keep calling the front desk for every little thing. Free coffee in the lobby of the main building and lake house every morning. Plenty of spring water fillers around the property. We didn't use the fire pits but last lighting is at 9pm and you have to buy your s'mores and equipment. I don't know if we would stay here again but if we did we would book a suite.

I figured that the gondola would be worth it and if we chickened out when it came time to do the zipline, that would be fine. We really enjoyed the gondola ride up and the staff at the bottom and the top were so nice and helpful. We enjoyed taking the elevator to the top of the tall ski hill. Some great history of the Olympic games and how they ended up in Lake Placid a second time. The views were spectacular (even in the rain) and you really can't get a better vantage point. I would say if you have vertigo, getting close to the (safely protected) edges of the viewing platforms can make you a little dizzy because those hills are steep! In any event, we did the tour then went to the zipline. The guys working it were super friendly and helpful and they reassured about the daily testing and safety of the ride so we all decided to give it a go and it was definitely a highlight of our visit to Lake Placid. My mother-in-law enjoyed it so much! I was so glad we did it and appreciative of the workers for making us so comfortable. We decided to ride the gondola again back up and down the mountain to enjoy the view on the way down since we had our eyes closed on the zipline. Definitely a great place to visit while in Lake Placid.

By visiting here, you can take a gondola to the halfway point up, and then an elevator to the top of the highest jump. Gondola ride itself is very cool, and the elevator can be overwhelming however you can stay in the indoor cabin at the top versus going outside to climb the final staircase. It's crazy that from the very top, you cannot see the landing zone at the bottom. Expect a wealth of factoids and sweeping views of the area. The staff can answer just about any Olympics question you can think of. Came blame them, as this is a very cool place to work. Not sure how repeatable this is unless you upgrade to a tour with an athlete demonstrating the jump, or the zip line which launches from the hallway point, however at worst it's well worth the 1 visit.
