So I'm an 48-year-old IT professional and when I first walked into Ultimate Performance Bethesda in late October 2025, I was sitting at about 216 lbs 6 ft tall and roughly 29% body fat--pretty standard unkempt dad bod. Post Covid life had just crept up on me the last 5 years or so and hated what I saw in the mirror . Fast forward five months to later and I'm now @ 178 lbs and sub 18% body fat (It's Late March 2026 now). Honestly, it's been an amazing transformation and I didn't think I'd get such results so quickly. What really stands out about UP is their approach. The training is very focused on hypertrophy, but more importantly, they are big on form and technique. Every rep matters, and they make sure you're doing things the right way. On top of that, their nutrition guidance is super dialed in. They keep it very precise with calorie tracking, which makes a huge difference because that's where most of the results come from. All of the trainers there are experienced and know what they're doing, but I especially want to call out my trainer Mo (Mohammed Ahmed). He's been awesome--great motivator, very knowledgeable, and he knows exactly how to push you without overdoing it. I'm honestly so encouraged by the progress that I'm sticking with it through the summer to try and get to my best shape ever. Yes, it's not cheap--but if you actually follow the program (diet, steps, training), you will get results. Think of all the wasteful "training sessions" you've done at your local gym. It's all basically a waste. You simply won't get these kind of results---no way. The UP method guarantees results----how far you take it though is entirely dependent on you ! Even committing to 3 months here will put you in a much better place than where you started. Highly recommend!!!

I was impressed by the measures in place to protect me and the staff. These measures include temperature check, mask required throughout. The gym has fewer classes with fewer people allowed at one time. Patrons are required to clean equipment before and after use. There are spray bottles and paper in buckets around the gym conveniently located. In addition, the gym has invested in a special air filtration system on the main workout floor. All instructors, trainers and staff are proactive and deeply caring about the health and well-beings of their members. Manager Skyler was very helpful. I highly recommend this gym for the quality of its classes, supportive staff, and clear commitment to adapting to our new COVID reality.

We needed someone experienced as she has limitations to manage. The trainer had her doing things in a fashion that caused strain and pain. She advised her to continue despite her concern. Indeed my wife came away with injuries that required doctors intervention, diagnostic imaging and weeks of PT. We attempted to withdraw our memberships. The company delayed and obstructed. Finally we had our credit card company cut them off. Poor training, greedy biz practices, and terrible customer device. Steer clear of this biz.

One…read moreof my big pet peeves is a personal trainer yelling in your face to give you 10 more, especially if they cannot tell that a weight is too heavy for you or you are physically incapable to do the task at hand. While he does push you to keep going, he can also tell when you need the break. He will also talk about other distracting things so your mind is not in the painful push-ups you are doing. It really makes a difference to have a personable trainer instead of someone screaming in your face to give you the extra 10. All in all, AWESOME workout by Eric. This is more than a compliment as I am big runner and I can definitely work out for hours without issues. But Eric gave me a run for my money. There were so many different routines that I felt challenged but never bored. We pulled ropes, we did lunges, we did ab workouts and weight training. He really will customize a workout for you. For me, he made sure to work my entire body finished with abs & stretching. He also told me about the isagenix detox that can help me lose 7-10 lbs in 11 days as he is a believer that no weight training is completed without a diet. I am really excited to try it out and go back for my next session.

I also have a state of the art brand new gym in my building. I never go. A modeling opportunity landed in my lap last minute- and my new york pounds needed to be shed sooner than later. I picked up my phone, dialed Mr. Bloch, left my name, and number. He returned my call within 2 hours, and set up an appt for the next day. Mr. Bloch is extremely professional, and listens well to your needs. Our first workout was outside in Bethesda at a park with a jump rope (my nemesis!) a weight, and a bench. difficult. Mr. Bloch was persistent, but not unkind. I can't stand a trainer that yells at you. This was so not the case. Second day workout, met at whole foods, went thoroughly over diet, and then went to my gym where I met again with that evil jump rope who kicks my butt! We focused primarily on my upper body, and I worked harder than I could have imagined. Mr. Bloch was sensitive to my needs considering how sore I was from the work out the day before, and we paid attention to my heart rate (i have an arrhythmia) and he forced me to keep well hydrated. I'm so excited to continue working out with Mr. Bloch, and I think that before this summer is over I will have a ridiculous body that my 19 year old self would be envious of ;) Seriously. He's adaptable, responds to what you say you want to work on. He's very easy going & flexible in terms of scheduling and very reasonably priced. On top of that, he's a good guy.
