I contacted Wilson Electric because I needed a light fixture replaced in my bathroom. Harmony Electric's technician Jose did a voltage check on the Positive and Negative cables on the switch side 118 volts coming out of the Pos wire, but no voltage on the Neg wire. Jose told me that they would have to cut through the drywall and replace the Neg wire. Jose quotes me $2549 to replace the Neg wire and light fixture. I thought that was way too high, so I contacted Wilson Electric. Aaron, the Wilson Electric technician did the same voltage check on the Pos and Neg wires on the switch side and there was 118 volts coming out the Neg wire when Jose told me there was no voltage. Aaron replaced the light fixture that I bought at Home Depot. Steve who owns Wilson Electric quoted me $300 to do the work. Aaron took $50 off and charged me $250. What a difference! read more

We recently hired the guys from Wilson Electric to do a very large lighting project in our home. They installed recessed lighting throughout our entire house, replaced all our ceiling fans, installed outdoor lights, relocated power outlets, installed new exhaust fans just to name a few! They provided us a very reasonable estimate, were very easy to get a hold of and very prompt to answer any questions we had! Their crew was very efficient and professional while working in our house. They even came back after the entire job was complete and they were already paid to make a couple of tweaks we requested! Not to mention the lighting in our house looks amazing now. I would definitely hire them again! (FYI we also needed some drywall work/painting due to some of our light fixtures being removed and walls needing patching etc. and their drywall guy is great too! I hired Wilson Electric to install a number of lights, wall switches, duplex outlets, can ceiling lights and to trouble-shoot a pool light. Major fail on every attempt. Exhibit A, Installed mini-fluorescent lights in the closet. Must be the cheapest things he could find of Chinese manufacture ($25.00 per gross). Tries to unload whatever is on his truck. The humming of these cheap bastards drives me crazy every time we use them...so we don't use them. A total waste. (Why do these lights hum? 'cause they forgot the words). Exhibit B, Wall switches. Instead of changing out a two gang box to a four gang box (As I specified), this guy placed another two gang box next to the existing two gang box about one foot away and four inches lower. Exhibit C, Duplex outlet. Single duplex outlet to a dual duplex outlet...see Exhibit B. Instead of moving some furniture, he just installed the outlets where it was easy for him to reach. Exhibit D, can ceiling light. This retrofit seemed easy enough...too easy! Installer stated that the old can was no good, so he just threw it in the attic, fixture, wiring and bulb. Fortunately, the new fixture he installed shorted out and I had to call a real electrician to fix it and remove the old one as well. Exhibit E, pool light troubleshoot. Opened up one weatherproof box by the pool, sat down, tapped his screw driver on the box for about 2 minutes, walked out to his truck and drove off. Never saw or heard from him again. He just left the box open with the wires disconnected and exposed. Turned out that he opened up the WRONG BOX. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Moisture and sealant problem located elsewhere. You ever try to contact this guy? Forget it. Worthless workers, worthless equipment. I had to have ALL of his "work" redone by someone who cares. Brian called after I left a message for them indicating I needed to have two new ceiling fans installed that did not already have electricity. Brian schedule Saturday at 9 am which worked out great for me since I am more available on the weekends. George installed the ceiling fans and did an amazing job minimizing the holes in the drywall to feed the electricity. Fans work great and he did a great job of balancing the blades. read more

Wilson Electric is the BEST! My husband and I bought a 1936 house and most everything was original including the electrical. As much as we wanted to update the kitchen we decided the smartest choice was to update the electrical first so our little CA Heights fixer will be here for another 82 years. We interviewed/got quotes from 3 companies (and that in itself took some doing since most companies we were referred to were either out of business or didn't return our calls.) Wilson Electric not only had the best prices but from the first contact with Brian and subsequent contact with Steve the process was a completely different experience than all the rigmarole we had gone through leading up to finding them. Needless to say, we hired them and after four intense days that involved lots of cutting new holes and pulling wires through, climbing around the attic and perhaps under the house - I don't even know how they did it because it was like an electrical tornado descended down from Zeus' fingertip (or Steve's) and after 4 magical days we had art lights in the living room, new wires, new plugs throughout, a new panel for the house and a panel in the garage. They did it so quickly and smoothly AND they kept the construction debris to a minimum - What a tight crew and one that really knows their stuff! Now getting new electrical might not be the most glamours way to spend one's reno money (a new Viking stove would have been awful nice,) but I can tell you this - that new electrical panel on the back of the house - it's the sexiest electrical panel I have ever seen. read more

We called Wilson Electric to come and install an 18 ft Chandelier in our home. However, when they arrived, they had only brought a 12 ft ladder to access our 36 ft ceiling. They then proceeded to hang the chandelier hooking on the ceiling first the connecting hook for the chandelier. Total time for that process was 2 hours. They then told us that the chandelier was missing parts and had us call the company for the missing part in which we did. They charged us a total of $150 for installing that hook into the ceiling over a period of two hours. When we got a second opinion from another electrician, the other electrician told us that the missing part was in fact the hook that Wilson Electric had installed was the missing part and he was able to install the chandelier with no problems whatsoever. I have tried calling Wilson Electric for a refund of the $150 since the part they claimed missing was in fact installed the whole time. However, they refuse to return my calls. A simple mistake that could have been avoided had the technicians from Wilson Electric paid more attention to the installation. read more

However we had to have another electrician (Bill at Enlighten) redo two single switch boxes that they cobbled together which were loose and not properly done according to code - Enlighten showed me the shoddy work. Also, Wilson never returned any calls regarding our second project, which they had given an estimate on. We interviewed 6 different electricians, all highly recommended on Angie's List, before ultimately choosing to work with Wilson Electric. We hired Wilson Electric to rewire our entire home and garage (just over 2000 sq. ft.). The house was built in the 1930's and had no grounding and all original wiring so we ended up doing a full re-wire, upgraded panel, recessed lighting and additional options such as dimmers, security lights on the outside of the house and track lighting in select rooms inside. They did a fantastic job and were a pleasure to work with- Their prices are reasonable and they stand by their quotes- anytime there was an unexpected issue with our house in the process, the crew at Wilson Electric brought it up with me and went over all of our options, instead of just completing the work and billing me later- Their communication was FANTASTIC. The only reason they get one star is because there wasn't an option for zero stars. Save yourself the time and money and find another electrician- there are lots out there. I hired Wilson Electric to install 2 fans, 2 ceiling lights above my shower and two ceiling lights above my vanity in the bathroom. They were supposed to remove my existing light fixture that was above the vanity and install new canned lights above the vanity in the ceiling. The person that came out to install the lights apparenty did not talk to the person doing the sales so he installed the ceiling lights and left the wiring and attached components in my wall where we were supposed to drywall. They just left the job like that. This was last Saturday. When I called them to ask them what I should do with the wires they said they had to come back out to fix it. They finally got here on Wed. and told me they were going to charge me another $100 to kill the wires or I could pay to have them install more lights above the ceiling instead of killing the wires. I asked them why I need to pay extra when this work was not in the original estimate and the owner called me back to tell me that since it was not in the original estimate it is additional work that I have not been charged for and I cannot get it for free. I didn't ask for anything for free- i just expected that they should have used those wires for the original ceiling lights they put up on Saturday instead of leaving them there and not using them and then expecting me to pay additional money to get rid of them. Also, the sales guy told me that they would bring 2 different colored accents (plugs and trims) to choose from before they install them, but he only brought one. When I discussed this with him the next time I spoke to him he said that he never told me he was going to send two. I have been very frustrated with these people because not only do they lie (and there seems to be a family feud between the installer who is the owner's son in law and the sales person who is the owner's step son) but it's been hard to get a hold of them since Saturday and I needed to get on with my construction. It's been a horrendous experience- I'm a christian stay-at-home mother of three that teach my kids good morals and values and to have this person tell me on the phone that I'm lying about what was said to me is absolutely appalling. read more
