My fiance and I needed a weekend away and decided to stay at a B&B for a change from the usual hotel. The difference in experience between a B&B and a hotel is huge and I think everyone should try it. I don't think we'll stop doing hotels altogether. There's definitely times when you want a full hotel experience but then there's times where you want the intimacy and quiet comfort and welcome of a true B&B. Wilson House really gave us that experience and more. We just fell in love with it. We stayed in the Flower Room because one of the things I need when I'm away is an en suite bathroom. This room also had a little porch. I didn't get to make much use of it as I'm super afraid of heights and the railing was a little low for me to be comfortable with. The room itself was beautiful and well appointed with a perfectly made bed and all the comforts I could want including a radiator for cold nights and (we got use of) an AC for warm nights. This weekend reached temps of 82 so the AC came in handy! I have to stop here to mention the cleanliness of the room. I've rarely been in a hotel room that was as freaking spotless as this room. This room and the bathroom were as clean as if I'd cleaned them myself and that's saying a lot. I was super impressed by that. The rest of the house is large and gorgeous and full of super interesting items that the owners (Guy and Clelia) obtained throughout their lives and adventures. Everything has a history and a story. We got there late in the evening and let the owners know ahead of time. Although they were out they gave us instructions on how to get in and how to get to our room. They previously sent us an email with instructions on how to get to the house in case the GPS didn't work well and that was great. The instructions also included where to park. I disagree that this house needs to be in a better location.I think the neighborhood was beautiful and I saw a lot of renovations being made to a bunch of nearby houses. Breakfast was delicious, but unfortunately there wasn't much options for someone who does no-carbs although I take that as my personal fault since I didn't ask the hosts to make sure there would be a lot of stuff. I wasn't sure how B&B's worked. I still did have enough to eat and enjoyed the company. I definitely recommend this place for people who want more out of their hotel experience than just a place to stay.

The house is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the flower room that had a balcony. Guy and his wife have run this B&B for years and they truly have it down. When we came they had wine ready for us to drink. In the morning they gave us a choice for breakfast. It was amazing! Guy has been all over the world, and was great to talk to. I would definitely stay again!

The Peacock Room. A large bedroom with a king size bed and a big sitting room, walk in closet and private bath.

Us and the Nigerians probably invented shade centuries ago. That being said, I know this place is incredible because my parents raved about it!!!! They loved it! They called me immediately after they return home from their weekend trip, and had nothing but wonderful things to say about their stay. They said the location is beautiful and not very far from where they live in Howard County so they felt well rested when they returned home. They loved their room and were huge fans of the art gallery in the common area. Talking to the gallery curator might've been my mom's favorite part of their stay. She kept talking about how beautiful the art was and how she enjoyed talking to the curator, and my mom is not even a big art person so I was surprised to hear this. My dad who loves to eat, said the breakfast was fantastic and enjoyed the multiple courses. They also enjoyed that they had the opportunity to introduce themselves and meet the other guests during breakfast, their favorite guest was a woman named Ms. Gwen who was celebrating her 86th birthday. Apparently, she was the life of the party! They also enjoyed walking around the property and the neighborhood. They didn't go to the spa (because my brothers and I didn't pay for that part). However, they said they want to go for another weekend visit next year and they'll consider checking out the spa. They also said that Ms. Sheila was wonderful and they had a fantastic time and they're looking forward to going back next year. They didn't take any pictures for me to share, but I can say if my Ghanaian parents loved this place, you'll love it too! And I have to give a shoutout to Nicaila Matthews Okome for introducing me to this place when she featured the owner, Lisa, on her podcast, Side Hustle Pro!

We desperately needed to escape Washington, but did not want to spend all evening in the car. Enter…read moreMaria's Love Point Bed & Breakfast. Located on Kent Island overlooking the Chesapeake, this is the perfect getaway. It took us about an hour to drive there from downtown (with no traffic) and was easy to find on a lightly traveled road a few miles from the main highway. The house is massive, but there are only two rooms available for guests. We recommend the Osprey room, which overlooks the bay. In the morning, you wake to a glorious sunrise on the bay. This is soon followed by breakfast carefully prepared by Maria and Ed Peffly, the owners. Each morning we had fresh fruit, and coffee followed by a main breakfast. One morning it was a salmon frittata the next is was blueberry and banana pancakes. The only down side of breakfast was having to muster uncomfortable conversation with the other couple there who were on a romantic getaway. But that is par for the course at a B+B. During the day we walked around in the nearby Terrapin State Park and explored the island. We were there in March, and the usual Kent island riff raff were not to be found. In the evenings we sat under the stars in the hot tub and let the stress slough away. We basically had the run of the house, and although there was one other couple there, we never saw them except at breakfast. The grounds were amazing and at night a herd (15 or so) deer can be seen munching away on the grass. There was a pool, but it wasn't open when we were there. They have a gym and game room that we used once (Who goes to a B&B to use the gym?) What else can I say, for $160 a night (in the off season, you get a wonderful room overlooking the bay, a great breakfast and seclusion from the real world. If I was to conjure criticisms, I would say that the rooms had a bit too much potpourri for our taste and that some of the decor was on the Laura Ashley side, but that is really being picky. This is a real gem. NOTE: I was reluctant to post this review for one simple reason--people will go to and love this place and we'll never be able to book a room again. But we liked the owners so much that we figured that keeping it a secret wouldn't be fair. Let me be frank. By people I mean you loathsome SUV driving butt cracks that make it necessary for rational people to escape DC. Please go to Disney.

To the left and right you and see picturesque views of the Chesapeake Bay. In front of you, you see a massive mansion-esk Bed & Breakfast that was built with extra #love by it's owner. Small architectural flourishes lend to the owners strong eye for aesthetic. A giant white tent 50 yards from the ceremony is where your guests will be partying, and a large stone patio with high bar tables around a small pool is where your guests will enjoy their cocktail hour. A separate small building off to the side houses fully plumbed in bathrooms with granite countertops make this luxurious experience continue in all facets and faucets! Hahahahhahaha - I'm such a dork. The perfect location for a wedding in every way. I mean... when this bed and breakfast was built, the intention was for it to also being a wedding venue. You can tell as there are ground anchors permanently placed around the pool and yard. Just a top notch place! Also Britny's Wedding gets 5 stars! :)

They had a small lot and our car, with belongings, were safe. Upon arriving we were worried what the place would look like inside. It was very nice. We were also happy to see that they had an elevator. We were warmly greeted and shown our room. The room was very clean. The bathroom was large and appeared to be marble or at least, very good stone. We had a jacuzzi and a separate shower. It was difficult maneuvering the jacuzzi as the faucets and knobs were very unique. The refrig and microwave were in the closet. We didn't find it until my husband went down to look for the fridge with complimentary water! Breakfast was very good. You ordered the night before and there were no mistakes. Breakfast alone was worth upwards of $10 each. The fruit was good and both our omelettes as well. I had the egg white and my husband - usual omelette. We shared a waffle. There was a Keurig and water available all day. We enjoyed our stay and walked into Fells Point - not a short walk (1 mile or so) but when eating fresh ice cream from the oldest market (that just opened) a walk was necessary!
