We were at a site next to the sewage vent. What made it worse was when we went to hook up the sites sewage the smell was so god awful we had to close it up and not connect. The smell significantly impacted our family camping trip and made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay. We understand that issues like this can happen, but we were disappointed that the site was rented in those conditions without any warning. We will not be staying here again. After contacting the campground and requesting a full or partial refund we never received a reply back. read more

This is just your average Rv park. We made reservations online and never saw anyone that worked or maintained the property the whole time we were there. The grass was a bit high around our pad. It took me quite a while to find the tank hookup because it was covered in the grass. We didn't have the hookup until the next day because we couldn't find the connection. They had a bath house at the end of the lot and gave the code by email but I could never get the password for the WiFi. There was tubing available at the end of the lot. Sky tubing was the name. It is $15 a person and you have to sign up online they their Facebook page. They said they are open 3 days a week thru the end of August (Friday thru Sunday). There free is river access if you bring your own tube, ‍ surfboard or kayak/canoe. I couldn't find any office in sight to ask any questions. Plus our spot was backed up to the highway, which wasn't a problem but there was no shade at all. It got very hot during the day. Across the street was better though , but when we came there wasn't any other space available. If you want to come here make sure you reserve online because it's usually full if you don't have a reservation. I myself would of liked it better if it would have been a little more room read more

We arrived to a unkempt campground. Our reserved spot was already full. The camp host offered to force the camper out of our spot (who was saying that she had emailed an extension) I believed her story as we tried to call the campground a number of times during our drive to confirm our booking but no one ever answered the phone or returned our call. We fortunately found accommodations nearby which were very much nicer, so our story has a happy ending for us. Don't trust these folks. read more

We stayed for three nights. The spaces are all back in, it's very cramped & hard to find.. gps brings you way down the road. I couldn't get anyone on the phone days before or day of to help figure out where they were located or to help with anything for that matter. It's literally NEXT to the interstate so it's quite noisy day & night. There is a bike/park path that runs from a park down the street right through the RV park so there are people and animals just walking, jogging and riding through nonstop all day long! It IS close to town and everything you want to go see, and that's its ONLY saving grace! The sewage is so gross we couldn't leave the black or grey water open to drain without strong orders & bugs invading our camper! I did finally reach someone through email for a question about our reservation but it was not very helpful. It wasn't the worst place but far from the best! Definitely overpriced for what it is. I had read some other reviews saying how disgusting the bathrooms were so we didn't bother exploring those areas. read more

Getting is hard. You definitely have to get turned around using some side streets, be careful if you are a big rig. Then there is a running/ biking path right in the middle. So you will have people running behind and in front of you as you back in your spots. The staff is not helpful, thankfully the some of the camper were. So CONVENIENT to the Biltmore. 8 minutes to the Biltmore entry via the river road and just over the Bridge. Waterfront sites pleasant- clean restroom at far end. Yes a dull rumble of road noise and joggers and dog walkers pass by it's the convenience to come back and check on our dogs that won the day. To EAT. - we enjoyed Homegrown just a few blocks down Amboy Rd. a real trashy building with very good food. This RV park is actually just a parking lot in the middle of a greenway...this means all the homeless people and everyone from the park comes into the campground at all hours. Not the safest place and definitely dont take small kids with you. Jake brakes go off every couple of minutes. You directly beside a major highway. If you are over 6' you wont fit in the bathhouse. Its a small trailer with bathrooms made for a 5 year old. The river was pretty but is in desperate need of cleanup. No security, no gates, nothing at this campground. It is primative at best. Wifi is non existent. We were happy our camper, bukes, ect didnt get stolen with the hundreds of people walking and biking through and homeless with the shopping carts. read more

Driving through town. Stayed one night. Clean enough. Concrete almost level site. The folks we saw were nice. We just pulled into site around 6pm and the camp host met us and at site and paid the $45. Multi use trail cuts through the middle with lots of bike and pedestrian traffic, but it's no issue. There are issues with this place especially if you are a tent camper or have a trailer with no bathroom. Bathroom was not clean and was not heated. The river had flooded a few days before and our site had a half an inch of mud on the pad. We spent an hour cleaning it off. It wasn't a great way to start our vacation. I should add every pad was clear expect for ours. We were offered a discounted rate but ended up leaving a night early because of the frigid temps. I couldn't reach anyone the day we arrived. The highway is busy and you can hear the j brakes from tractor trailers throughout the day and night. I think if you are in a well insulated RV it's probably not too bad but I was pretty loud in our trailer. read more

We had an excellent stay there. It has a great location close to downtown Asheville. We were able to bike in along the river. The only negative is that it is hard to get into from the highway as you have to do a difficult right hand u-turn. However, one you are in, you will have a great time. read more

CRIME ALERT!! There is no security here and a public hiker/biker trail passes right through the center of the "park". Anyone can enter at any time-no office, no security, no human help at all (reservations done completely automated). LOCK EVERYTHING UP! Someone stole our nice lounge chair that I dared leave outside overnight. The camp host said "Sorry, we have problems with thefts. I'll tell the owner." Go only if you don't mind locking everything inside when you go to bed or depart the camp site to visit Asheville. Other things: No human help with anything. Received an automated email asking me to post a review here, but to email them if I had any issues. I emailed about the crime...and received another automated email instructing me to use a link to make an automated reservation! No maintenance ever performed, bathhouse closed Oct to April. Lots of traffic noise. Better off in a WalMart parking lot. We will never return. read more

While the location is close to the city, the french broad river greenway runs through the park meaning there is no security system here, anyone can come and go as they please. we watched several creepy characters around our tent cite and opted to leave out things in the car except for what we needed while sleeping. the manager on duty was rude when we asked about parking. When we got to our site there was someone already set up in it. come to find out they changed our site w/o letting us know. they had also done that to the people in our site. grass was high. bathrooms were gross. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. This park is in a great location as it relates to proximity. The bike path that runs through it is great for RV'ers with bikes. The host is super friendly and helpful. The official checkin building is rarely open but since checkin is handled online we had no issues there. The river was quite high at our visit. It looked like a lot of rain created plenty of mud for the riverside but it was cleared from the pads, although the tent area was still wet (welcome to camping)! The bathrooms were clean on our visit... it is a small older building but I had no complaints even though some possible mildew in floor corners was evident. I asked Host about one reviewers comment on 'bathroom closed October to April' and was told they are open now but they are closed when Winter arrives to prevent freezing. Our site was full sun, some are shaded. Our site was fairly level, some not so much. Yes there is highway noise but you are next to a highway so go figure :-) Water pressure was low, we had no trouble with power pole. Four vs Five stars only because of age... We were on our way to Asheville on one of our less planned trips. When booking online, they had 2 out of the 3 nights available so I emailed Wilson's when were en route to let me know if there was a cancellation. The manager called right back, said he was able to do a little rearranging and kindly got us in! The park is tucked away beside the river (we had a spot to hang our hammock) and the interstate (which are always noisy, but the location was so close to the town) and the bike path runs right through the middle of the park, which we biked up and down along the river and into Asheville. Folks who run it were very accommodating, hookups located just right, and the river sites have nice trees and the better view. read more

This place is closer to the interstate than a KOA (read: noisy). The riverfront sites are pretty, but also pretty muddy, so don't ask for one of them. The shower house is below average. The trail running through is nice is you like to bike/jog/etc. Very difficult to get into. read more

The campsite was located on the French Broad River which was nice; but was negated by the highway road noise. There were no amenities at this park. No WiFi or cable. However we were able to get a few channels off of our antenna. The biggest issue we had was inadequate power. Our RV requires a 50 amp hook up which they had but we were getting inadequate voltage and had to get an extension cord to hook up to an adjacent site. But by that time one of our ac units would no longer work And appears to be damaged. I do want to end on a more positive note. The lady who oversees the campground was very nice and very helpful. read more

Wilson's is very conveniently located to the Asheville Art District(which is awesome) and is close to downtown Asheville, the Biltmore, etc. This is a small campground without amenities (bath house was closed), but it's got nice level lots and the best part is that it is along the river and connects to an amazing greenway/bike/walking trail with a really nice park. I didn't give it 5 stars because it does sit right on the interstate, so you do get some traffic noise. But, it dies down considerably the later it gets. I would stay there again just for the location, but would try to get the river side. read more

The website makes this campground look a great place to stop for 1 night. However, if we had to stay there longer than 1 night upon arrival, I would not have been a happy camper. The pictures you see online are deceiving. First, the directions say if you have a camper bigger than 25 feet to go to the end and turn around at Citgo there is absolutely no way a camper of any size can make the hair pin turn to get into the campground. Once we get to our site, we are next to what appears to be an abandoned rundown permanent camper; the grass was long and unkept; we were on the side of the highway which is loud and unnerving when you hear semis hitting the guard rail directly behind your site. There is also a walk/bike path that runs literally right through the middle of the campground, so if you're looking to sit outside and relax or feel safe about leaving your stuff here, think again. Next, the hose valve leaked incessantly and the water pressure is terrible. Water was definitely not clear. The area in general is less than desirable, the citgo down the street had no gas. We traveled into a downtown area of Asheville that looked like a rundown hippie town where we also went to 2 different gas stations that had bags on all the pumps. (This isnt the campgrounds fault but just gives you an idea of whats around you) $45 a night is WAY too much for this campground. The reason why we chose this spot is because it was an easy off and on the highway to finish our trip to SC but if I had to do it again, I would travel a little further off the highway to avoid the mess. We did not go into the bathhouse so I cant comment on that. I recommend cleaning the place up and lowering the night rate. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights in August. The sewer hookup was coming apart and bathrooms were dirty. It took me 14 times calling to get through to a person and when I did, he was rude on the phone. The rv pad smelled of sewage, probably because the attachments are poorly maintained. The wifi was barely working. It's right next to the highway. Go somewhere else. Don't waste your money here. read more

Would not recommend this park. First of all horrible to try and get into the park from the freeway. Luckily we saw that from another review and found an alternative route in. We had reserve a 50 Amp site, our site the electric did not work. We tried calling the park but the voice mail was full. My husband found the owner and he said we could use the 30 AMP from the next camp site over. (We were told by snort camper there the had our spot the day before and the power did not work when he got there and moved because of it. So they knew that the power was not working then). It was very hot when we arrived and have 2 air conditioners and we would be unable to run plus we have a cat and can't leave him there without air when it is hot. His response is that is why the 50 Amps don't work because of people with 2 air conditioners! Hooked up o the 50 Amp next site over but he was not happy we did. Later on the camp host came and told us we could move to the next campsite over if we wanted. Once you have your 40 ft 5th wheel set up you don't want to pack it up and move unless you are leaving. We chose to stay as the had no one coming in till Friday and we were leaving on Sunday and they were going to use 30 Amp. The power on one day kept going off and on in the park as well. Camp host was nice. Next is the noise from the freeway that was right next to the park. Way to noisy to even sit outside! Wi-fi was horrible as well. We would definitely not stay here again. read more

We knew we would be traveling to the Asheville area and since we were on a budget, we decided to camp for one of the nights that we would be there. Wilson's RV Park was one of the least expensive we could find (I think it was like $20 for a tent site for one night). The park is small, and the tent area is even smaller. But us and one other tent were the only ones visiting that night so the size of the park didn't bother us. We got to be under a tree right along the French Broad River and it was pretty. We enjoyed being close to West Asheville, and Carrier Park is a fun place to take a walk while you stay at Wilson's! One thing that was a bit bothersome was the traffic noise. Wilson's is RIGHT off of I-26 so if you're looking for someplace quiet, this is not it. Also, not very well-maintained bathrooms. But, for what you pay for, it's not bad. Oh, and it's dog friendly. read more

The RV park is first very noisy as next to the highway. Second, when we arrive the office was closed (during the day) and it says to go to Camp Spot 4 to get help. We went there as our RV reserved spot utility was used by another RV (in the next spot...). The person there (seems to be the manager) told us to use another spot next to it. We settled in and 2 hours later another camper arrived and needed our spot (as he had reserved it). So we had to unplug everything and settle again. We called when we arrived and no one answered the phone no returned our message. We also email to ask if there was wifi and no one ever answered our email. The RV camp is as good as a highway rest area, not in good condition, and very muddy. For $50/night it is one of the most expensive camps we stayed in 5 weeks RV trip and the worst of any camp we stayed. Do not expect to feel welcome as a guest. If you are in Asheville definitely stay somewhere else. read more

We stayed at Wilson's for a family event in Asheville. We have a 30ft Class A Motorhome. The site has a public trail running through the center, between the two rows of sites-pads. The trail runs between Hominy Creek and the French Broad River, and connects other parks with River access. Lots of people use the trail, and it is handy for walking the dog. There is also river access in the park with a tent area and bath house. Lots of RV'ers in and out of the sites, and there is noise from highways on both sides of the park. It is a place for active people with a purpose. If you have a larger RV book a 50amp site. We had problems with low voltage trying to make do on a 30Amp site-even when we had only pulling 15-20amps, we had low voltage issues when the temp would go up during the day. The park has an odd entrance, adjacent to the off ramp of a highway. My GPS said "make a slight right turn" which made me chuckle, as it is a 180deg turn. It isn't a problem to drive past and turn around and approach from opposite the off ramp. I would stay there again (only in a 50amp site). read more

This is not a very large park. The benefits are the Asheville Greenway runs through the campground and a river flows directly beside. Asheville Outdoor center is next door which rents bikes, tubes, and canoes. Good place if you like your morning walk, run, or ride. It is great for pets, lots of walking room. read more

Wilson's Riverfront RV Park was the perfect spot for our honeymoon/babymoon. It is SOOOOOO close and convenient to Asheville and all of its magic and is equally close to nature! We loved how easy it was to get set with our spots, and the owner even went out of his way to figure out additional days for us when we loved it so much we wanted to extend. They offered full hook up sites right on the river- it was absolutely beautiful without being too crowded or overwhelming. Highly recommend staying here for the convenience of being SO CLOSE to the city, but also for the ease and pleasantness of staying in such a great place, run by great people. read more

The bathhouse was so dirty and gross and it is the loudest campground I have ever stayed at in my life. It is a few hundred yards from a major freeway so if you want to sleep at all, don't stay here. The Sounds of the semis downshifting and cars speeding by is so very loud. Not peaceful at all. It is convenient to Asheville though. You definitely get what you pay for in this case. We stayed here to be able to camp and still enjoy the fun in Asheville. An RV site on the river was pretty expensive considering the amenities ($45/night), but the view was gorgeous. We were able to get to Downtown Asheville to visit the breweries etc for about $10. There is a lot of traffic noise and the sites are pretty tight, but it was fine for what we needed. Didn't use the bath house and Wi-Fi had no signal. I would stay here again for the same purpose, but this is not the place if you want seclusion. read more

This was a poorly managed and operated RV park. The camp host was aloof and it was difficult to access. I was towing 41' 5th wheel. When I exited the freeway I had to traverse through the neighborhood and turn around. When we arrived, no one greeted us or showed us where our site was located. I asked some guy on a lawn mower where out site was. Wow, he was the camp host. As I was setting up, the host decided to cut the grass near my site which needed it. I had to work around him. When he finished there were clipping all over my site. There was a cable hookup that did not work and the wi-fi was horrible. We lost power several times. My neighbor told the previous rver had the same problem. I spoke with owner the following day at his shop next to the parked about the power. He claimed that everyone using ac causes the power to trip and there was nothing he could. The park was next the freeway and it was very loud. Apparently there in a trail through the park and non-campers were always present. Some RVers trying to park had to navigate around the the people passing through. I will never stay her again. No frills at all. this park has so much potential, but for the price it is completely lackluster. read more

Our stay at Wilson's was fantastic! They have an easy online reservation and check-in process, so we just went straight to our reserved site. The host, Mark I believe, met us soon after arrival and quickly oriented us. The RV site was right by the river and perfect - it had a picnic table, fire ring, and trees by the river to hang hammocks and watch the tubers and kayakers float down the river. The French Broad River Greenway goes through the RV Park, so it was easy to hop on and go for a stroll. It still felt safe and our belongings outside the RV were left alone the few days we were there. We didn't use the restrooms since we had an RV, but those were kept locked with a code. The only downside is that the RV park is right next to a highway, but it didn't bother us at all. There are no other RV parks this close to Asheville that aren't next to highways that I know of. It got quieter at night, and we couldn't hear anything inside the RV with the AC running. It was sometimes hard to reach someone on the phone, but Mark was very friendly and accessible on the campground the whole stay. They also had a daily trash service that was helpful. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!! read more

This is a great place by the river! Miles of walking, biking trails at your doorstep. Minutes to dozens of restaurants, shops, river arts district, breweries! The bath house is clean and functional. Mr. Wilson is a kind man with a great dog! I would camp here again . read more

This "RV park" is not much. No more than 20 sites and most are permanent campers. A short section of recreational trail goes through the center of the "park". It's good for walking but too short for biking. The Restrooms are an afterthought. read more

This RV park was a pleasant surprise. Looking at it, I thought...ahhh not gonna be that exciting cause of lack of amenities. However being next to the river, parks, west asheville, bike trails and hiking I was corrected! We stayed in a 40ft 5th wheel so the turn around was a bit tricky but easy enough if your not 80 years old and scared to make a turn! The nicest host, I believe his name was Randy was very helpful to us. He was in a camper on the first site as you pull in. Very friendly and walked with us to choose our site. He made sure we we're hooked up (we're a little bit new in the RVing world) and gave us some great advice on where to get some good BBQ. We'll be back. read more

Stayed here for several months while working in the area. Management couldn't have been nicer. The park was kept very clean. Did not use the bath house but it appeared clean as well. Enjoyed being on the river front and greenway. All sites were paved and offered cable tv and wifi. The park is very close to downtown and to the interstates. read more
