Pad See Ew with beef: 15+ years of ordering this and it is still the best in OC 10/10

I have been coming to Win Thai since I was a freshman in college. Now, 15 years later, they are still my absolute favorite. No other Thai restaurant that I have been to in OC has that highly sot after "wok hei" (smokey/bbq flavor imparted by the wok cooking vessel) flavor like Win Thai does. It is especially noticeable in their Pad See Ew but all their wok fired dishes have it and it is a glorious. After 15+ years none of their dishes have changed or lost flavor or portion sizes and the family that runs is still active, hard working, very sweet and very friendly. So is Win Thai a win? Or is it a tie? It's Thai for sure but you always win at Win Thai! -cringe- I'll see myself out.

We have been coming here for years, and not once have I been disappointed. The Food is amazing every time. The Service is excellent. It has a small family business feel and is super authentic. If you haven't had it, you're missing out!!

We just ordered takeout and it was not good. 1. We asked for mild tom yum soup, and we were given really spicy 2. Our beef pad see ew was burnt 3. The mango sticky rice was...well, just look at the pic. Need to look for a different place.

This was $19 with tip for lunch. very mediocre Thai food. I would at least give more food for this price. Just to make a customer feel like coming back.

After visiting Disney, my husband and I were craving Thai food and this place hit the spot. It was a wonderful experience. We ordered chicken fried rice and chicken pad see ew. The food was yummy and came quickly!

I love how quick the service was! It was my first time at this spot and when I say I found a GEM, I mean it. The service was not only fast but they were super sweet too. The food was so delicious and the mago sticky rice was so so delicious too! Highly recommend.

Excellent and flavorful dishes. I tried the combination pad woon sen and chicken green curry. Both were excellent dishes and big portions. I ordered the dishes to go and when I got there I was greeted with a smile and my food ready to go. Definitely will return to try other dishes.

I recall Win Thai when i use to come dine here when i was only 10 years old. Back than i lived in the apartment behind the restaurant plaza. Almost a little pass 30 years and it's still the same owner. Sweet thai lady and This time her daughter what seems like helps w the Restaurant. I wanted Thai food. Was in the area getting my dads car service. So we came here for lunch. Located right behind a car wash spot. A good amount of parking out front. The Restuarant is a simple restaurant. Not much decor. The service was friendly and we received our food in a timely manner. We were the only one dining there but during our dine in. There was about 2 other customers, picking up to go orders. What we ordered: ~Lad Nah w seafood. The noodles weren't too much. A smaller amount of portion. I'd suggest they add a bit more noodles though. The Gravy was good along with everything else. ~Beef Noodle Soup aka Boat Noodle Soup was decently good. I remembered this particular soup here use to be sooo delicious. It was ok, not the best I've had. But did hit the spot. The broth was a bit lighter flavoring. ~Thai tea was good. Not overly sweet and mixed perfectly w the half & half. The food we ordered did help fix our thai food cravings. 1.17.23

One of my favorite Thai restaurants for sure!! The food is always amazing every time. It's made fresh and the quality is always consistent. I get my food extra spicy, and it hurts (but I still like it). Also, the leftovers taste great the next day too. It's a family run restaurant and everyone is super nice and kind. Service is fast and the food comes out fast as well. I highly recommend it. Some of my other favorite dishes that aren't pictures are the spicy mint noodles and sweet roti with condensed milk.

Lauren was helping us and it's kind of like a hot foods to go place, but you can get a tray of food and sit down and eat as well. The prices are super affordable and there are dishes that go beyond the typical curries and sausage. I definitely want to come back to try more dishes. She mentioned that the MANGO STICKY RICE sells out fast so if you have time to come here in the morning on the weekends, please do! We got the medium spicy for the papaya salad and it was delicious. Definitely has a kick the more you consume. The BITTERMELON dish was not as bitter as I expected and it was enjoyable! I'd get it again. My personal favorite was the SOUR BAMBOO SOUP. It was something I had never tried before and it was simple but so good. The bamboo is soft and I recommend this soup if you like things with a twang. The SAUSAGE is savory and fatty, yum, it was perfect with the white rice. The PORK JERKY was thick, not too dry, and typical of what I've had before. I also had a THAI COFFEE and it was delicious! I do recommend. Lauren mentioned that there are variety of Thai desserts displayed on the weekends and that is something I am looking forward to checking out next time I am in Anaheim! This place shares a wall with the Lao & Thai Market and both places are CASH ONLY. This place is totally a mom-and-pop shop type feel and the aunties are in back cooking it up! Parking was easy, we parked in front and walked in.

You seat yourself at this place and place your order/choose your items at the counter. The food here is good. There are so many yummy items to choose from the combo (already made) items. We got a three item combo ($10.50) with Green Curry, Basil Chicken, and Lao Sausage. I loved the Green Curry and Basil Chicken. The Lao Sausage was dry. I was surprised that they didn't give that much rice for the combo. The Thai Style Papaya Salad ($12.95) was okay. It had the fermented fish paste that greatly resembles Lao style. So either they made it wrong or that's how they do their Thai Style Papaya Salad. I don't think the portion sizes screams great deal here. Overall, this is a good no frill place to get some tasty Thai food at an okay price. .

Once seated, you'll notice the menu if full of items that you rarely see here in the USA but we have had in Bangkok. We ordered 4 items for 4 people even though in Thailand you always eat family style. I selected the first 3 and asked the waiter to select the 4th based on my first 3 choices. That was a good idea. I chose Kao Soi Noodles, Dry Boat Noodles, and Crab Fried Rice based on Yelp reviews. My server, Veerawan, chose Fried Fish Fillet in Spicy Herb Salad. The Kao Soi Noodles came with several pieces of perfectly fried crabs and a bundle of crispy noodles. Underneath that was a delicious yellow curry on soft noodles. The fried bits were not greasy and the coating well seasoned. The yellow curry noodles were so delicious and rich that I couldn't put my chopsticks down. The Crab Fried Rice should be mandatory. Instead of a stir fry of rice and eggs with some surimi, at Manaao the entire cap of the fried rice mound is covered with lump crab meat. At first I thought $24 was expensive, now I think it's a steal. Look at my picture! The flavor was spot on too, the rice was chewy, the crab flavor throughout but you also get mouthfuls of crab without the hassle of shells. It comes with a lime wedge but also this spicy, tangy lime sauce that just sends the dish to the moon. The name of the restaurant is lime in Thai so they are supporting their brand with this sauce. Bottle this stuff! The Dry Boat Noodle was our least favorite but not because it wasn't tasty. The ingredients were braised beef and morning glory and meatballs. Because we messed with the recipe and ordered it dry (I didn't want two soups) the meatballs were cold-to-room-temp and flavorless. The noodles were some kind of special noodle too, that required the soup to separate. This dish should not be ordered dry. It's an easy fix since we all splashed some of the broth they knowingly brought on the side to wake it up. The broth is rich and should not be missed, so don't skip on this dish just because it was my third out of four dishes. The Fried Fish Fillet in Spicy Herb Salad was the unexpected plot twist. This scored very high in all the major Thai flavor categories of spicy, sweet, salty and sour. You get the benefit of lots of snake head fish without the chore of avoiding bones. The coating on the fried fish pieces were coated in the delicious sauce. Since it's technically a salad underneath and the fish is mixed with all those fresh herbs and large cashews, you get a dish that is one-of-a-kind. I would order this again in a heartbeat. I wrote too much already so I'm not going to say anything about the service and ambience except they both get 5 of 5 stars. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
