We go to several Winchell's Donuts, sometimes weekly, but we also go to other donuts shops. My grandson loves donuts and it is so easy to go grab a dozen or have a fast breakfast. This is a stand alone store front with plenty of parking. The place is cute and older, but well taken care of and always clean. We love to sit there and have a breakfast sandwich or a donut and then leave with a dozen. This 4th of July they had great donuts in red, white and blue. My grandson loved them. They have great bagels and cream cheese. Their HAM & CHEESE ON CROISSANT is a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich with cheddar cheese on a croissant. I love that they don't use cheap American cheese. It never tastes microwaved. It is just great. They have a great sausage egg and cheese breakfast burrito. I do wish they made their own tortillas, but I don't think they sell enough of them to pay for that effort. The staff is super nice. It is never crowded. Go there. They need the business. read more

Every time I come here with my family the women who are working have a nasty attitude off the back for no reason at all. This morning alone I ordered food for my family and my order was wrong when I got home. The guy behind the counter is great vut even the manager has an attitude. Do not come here ! The system is slow and the people who work here are slow too. I ordered a sandwich to go and they charged me $12.12 for my order. They called me again saying my order did not go through and asked to charge me again so I did go back so the lady can charge me again. Like i said before they have a slow system so it took a while to load and complete the transaction. she pressed cancel again because she has no patience. & asked to charge me again so i go to my bank statements and it said i was charged $12.12 already. The manager comes and asks to charge me again. I then explain she charged already and showed my bank statement. He said no they haven't charged and the payment hasn't gone through that i need to be charged again. I repeat and say why ? if it literally says in my bank the payment went through. They refused to give me my order until i paid again. I kept showing my bank statement that i was charged and he refused and started to say if i want to steal that sandwich thats on me because i have not paid. I felt very uncomfortable so i left and will complain to the bank to get my money back. I refused to pay again since i was already charged and the Salvadoran lady that first charged me started giving me a ugly attitude towards the end. & the manager was not being polite and understanding with situation. This is a new review of an old spot. I recently visited this place and found it much better. The donuts were fresh, the sandwiches were better, the mochas were tastier. Even the donut holes were bigger and fresher. Is it racism? Latino server. Black customer. I came here twice recently. Both times, asked for the same thing. The sandwiches before mine, ordered by Latino customers, all came out looking nice. You can watch the guy make your food while you wait. The people after mine, all came out looking nice. I do not understand why only mine, the sandwich ordered by the black guy in line is the only sandwich looking like trash. I have come here before. Other servers have not messed up my order so disrespectfully. So my only assumption is the server is racist. I don't know his issue. Maybe a someone took his booty when he was younger, and he chooses to take it out on black people, one sandwich at a time. I will walk on by next I am there if he is working the sandwiches. Do not recommend the banana shake. Very bland. I also got charged extra, not sure why

I went to the this Winchell's for the first time on my way home from work. I placed my order with one of the workers whom took my order wrong the first time. I approach the manager and explained to her exactly what I wanted, she repeated it to me and pointed at the picture of the sand which on the wall. They still managed to get the sand which incorrect. Luckily other customers witness the mistake they made and told them they were wrong for what they did. The lady preparing the sandwich started to mumble under her breath and the manager started to get defensive instead of changing my order. I would never go back here again. read more

I went in to get a torta, they didn't have the bread for it s I picked a garlic bagel instead which was fine. When the lady asked me what meat I wanted I picked their third option on their menu that said "Ham & Turkey". So I tell hell, "Ham and Turkey". She then asks me "which one? Ham or turkey?" I look at her confused and reiterate, "I want ham and turkey!" She then starts arguing with me telling me that I have to pick one, either ham or turkey. I tell her "I want both! It's right there on your menu! Ham and turkey!" The lady, I kid you not, looks at the menu, reads "ham AND turkey" and then with a straight face tells me "it says you can either have HAM or TURKEY". I'm just floored. If I could only pick either HAM or TURKEY then why would you list TURKEY as option 1, followed by HAM as option 2, and then HAM & TURKEY AGAIN!?! She then insisted I pick one or the other. Listen I know making a sandwich isn't rocket science but at least know how to read your own menu!!! I wasn't about to argue with this lady so I walked out. I love Winchell's. Well, I used to. First off, 14 dollars for a dozen of mixed regular donuts this morning around 3:10. Ok, lil much. Oh well it's Winchell's. Donuts are usually fresh around this time but not this time. Seemed like she unloaded all the old donuts from yesterday and put them in my dozen box. Thanks, I tipped you too. All of them were old as hell. Could be a 24 hr thing where they don't start out fresh every morning and the same donuts sit there till they're gone. But it's Winchell's, you pay a premium and expect a certain quality. So buyer beware. I will only come to Winchells as a last resort for a donut if I am out of reach of an independent donut shop. Their donuts are close to $1.00 but they do the job. The parking lot is small and also the parking on the street is a hit and miss due to its location on the always busy Crenshaw Blvd. However the people are friendly but can be busy in the morning or when the schools get out. She was a daily customer and this gentleman did an act of kindness and provided the donuts and coffee for her funeral services. God bless him and I hope his act of kindness gets rewarded. I love them. Great donuts. There parking lot is usually a bit trashed and gross but I just step over and keep it pushing. They do have a seating area with tables and chairs but I always get my donuts to go. They have a large variety and the are conveniently located right on the corner. I went to this location in the afternoon and all the dozen donuts I got were a day old. The glazed ones were a little bit softer but not fresh. ( which is understandable because it was not the morning) so I knew the donuts were going to be from the morning. But other donuts were made the day before. They were hard as a rock. Terrible customer service. Worker named Patricia was extremely rude. I went in after work around 10 and attempted to order a soda and food when I handed her my money she rudely threw it back and tapped the sign in front of her saying "no bills over 20 please" I informed that was my only bill she replied with "you no read?!" Had a dentist appointment the staff there are always very nice and friendly so I went to Winchell's donut to get some sweets for the staff, there was a line with students, but it moved real fast,the place was clean and almost look spotless,I order a dz. of donuts which came to $7.99 gave clerk #4 $20.00 he gave me $12.01 back no tax's I wish everywhere was like this,so we could used that changes to help fill up at the gas station's.I have one complaint which is a big one a female staff there started SNEEZING while helping a customer's luckly the lid was just closing on my order, apparently this is not the first time this has happen here she just kept on helping her customer and I never heard her say I sorry, her germs floating all in the air and even on the the donut's for me a absolutely not come back to.(Thats why when eating out its always good for me to say God bless germs)its a old school saying! read more
