Update from 9/18: 9/21/2021. Saturday evening, my wife and I went to the Tacoma WinCo on 72nd street near I-5. We bought a full bag of groceries and paid $39.60 (we thought). We returned in a few minutes because my wife's extreme financial attentiveness discovered that my bank account and her credit union account had BOTH been charged the full purchase price for the groceries. We attempted to solve the problem but were sent away with the apparent idea that procrastination would end up solving the problem. It didn't. Both of our accounts continued to show a debit charge of $39.60 with no corresponding return of funds until this evening. I had contacted corporate customer support with the idea that they may act more promptly and this evening my account showed the return of funds. At least they responded, requested further information, returned the funds to one account and gave a sort of standard industry apology for my inconvenience. Folks should remain closely attentive to their account funds if they choose to shop at WinCo, and be very assertive about recovering their funds if they come up short, because They gave me no reason to believe that my experience has changed anything fundamental in the way they intend to function, and being charged double can viciously reduce any savings you might otherwise realize. The manner in which it occurred to us would probably have been overlooked by most people. Although the technology exists to make this double charge nearly impossible, any company that would benefit from the error is poorly motivated to fix the problem. The remedy given to me was the absolute minimum they could get away with and it took THREE DAYS!!! read more

Winco is my favorite grocery store and I'm so excited they just opened this location right down the street from my apartment. The prices are low low low but without sacrificing quality. Their bulk snacks and food section saves us so much money. We enjoy their wide selection of coffee that you can grind in the store. The aisles are wide which makes for less crowding and they're also open 24 hours so I go when no one else is there. They only take debit card and you have to bag your own groceries which keeps costs low. Their bags SUCK though which is why they only get 4 stars instead of 5. Remember to bring your own reusable bags with handles. Our groceries have torn and fell as we carried them in the wet Seattle weather with the paper bags that have no handles. The prices are amazing and their products seem to be expanding every time Im in the store. The aisles are big and spacious, and even though the parking lot can be crowded, inside it never feels that way. What irritates me most about Winco are the other shoppers. They will talk on their cell phones while bagging their own groceries, taking 3 times as long and holding up the line. Put the darn phone down and get out of the way!. Good prices, but their products are terrible. I bought bacon in a package with an expiration date of a month away two days ago is GREEN. In the same shopping experience, the bread I bought had mold all over it. I'll never shop at this store ever again. I'll pay the extra money to shop at a store where they stock fresh food. read more

This place is great! Really brightly lit, clean and people were pretty helpful. They have a decent bulk section for the lowest prices. Yes, they are cheaper than Fred Meyers in a number of things, but WinCo is still out of the way for me. I'd say they are significantly cheaper when it comes to snacks or beverages. (Example: 12 pack of La Croix for 2.50, where most places sell an 8-pack for a dollar more). The produce was possibly a little more inexpensive, maybe a couple cents, but I didn't find the quality particularly compelling. I'd been used to shopping at Winco in Kent. I walked in this place and wondered if were part of the same chain. The same great prices, but clean and beautiful and with great customer service. No wait at the registers. It was spotless. Bright. Winco is NOT the place for gourmet foods. But for basics, it is fantastic and the price is always 20% lower than Fred Meyer, 30% lower than Safeway. Don't even try to compare to Whole Foods/QFC/Metropolitan Market--no need to apply for an equity loan before shopping here. As with the others, bag it yourself. Cash or Debit only. read more

Like other reviewers have mentioned, there are plenty of pros and cons. Personally, the "cons" aren't significant to me. We shop at night, so parking is great, it isn't packed, and they have everything we want. The pros are incredible! The prices! The employee-owned aspect! WinCo is good for low prices on MOST items. Pay attention though and DEFINITELY check the eggs you are trying to buy. The workers really need to treat the eggs with more respect and not drop the cases or whatever they do. I always check the eggs, open the carton, twist each egg, if it sticks, its broke! Don't buy it. I grabbed one from the back, had trouble opening the carton. Forced it open and egg spills all over the store floor. Put that one back and got another from under the last one, opened it up and spotted a cracked egg. Put that back too. CHECK THE EGGS PEOPLE. :) read more

We normally go to the winco in marysville but we were in the area and decided to go to the Edmonds one. We arnt use to this one how it's set up so we asked someone where we could find brita water filters and if they sold them. No one seemed to be able to tell us and then when they did they didn't even show us where to go they just pointed and when my brother went to the wrong place they made a funny look towards him and mouthed "wow" like they were making fun of him behind his back because he couldn't see where they were pointing to.i guess I could be wrong but even if so how unprofessional. We will stick to the friendly one in marysville from now on. read more

So glad to have a WinCo close to my house! They have everything at the lowest prices. Be mindful of the expiration dates on some items, and some items don't work on the scanner. Some cashiers are nice but there are some who are just there to get through the day. Wouldn't stop me from coming back though. read more

I purchased a rotten watermelon which had no indication of being rotten in any way. I was very upset because I LOVE watermelon. I called and when I told an employee about my rotten watermelon he told me to bring back the melon in a bag so they can exchange it. Who in their right mind will put a rotten melon in a bag and drive it back to their store? Not me. Terrible customer service. Never going here again. read more

My all time favorite store, no matter the location, but it's lacking in accessibility for disabled shoppers. There are not enough electric shopping carts for such a large store and the few they do have are not always operational. Also, it would be great if they offered a single occupancy restroom for those who need help with using the facilities. I am fairly certain that ladies would freak out if my husband came into the women's room to assist me. read more

What can I say that hasn't been said already? The prices can't be beat. And honestly the quality and taste of the meat is better than what you get at Walmart. I have made the mistake during Covid of hurrying to a store close to home so I could get back home quickly. Bought very few groceries and spent a lot. Wont be making that mistake again. If I had taken the time to drive the extra 3 miles to Winco I could have spent the same amount and had a couple weeks of groceries. I love the selection, the prices, and the customer service. Every time I have asked an employee for help they have been happy to help and have even walked me to where the item actually was even though they had been busy stocking. I greet them with a smile and they return it. They have GREAT prices, and therefore are often very busy. No surprise there. Another big plus is that it is employee owned and the employees make the money instead of the billionaires in Arkansas. read more

My wife and I have been waiting for a place this awesome. Never mind the prices that save our family over $400/month, the business model that they are all owners with excellent benefits is something we can really feel good about giving our money to. The benefit that i appreciate is that if you cannot find what you are looking for, they will order it and stock it. If it sells well they will continue to stock it! ....plus they sell poke for almost half the cost of Albertsons. The staff are always super nice. read more

Be Mindful of Expiration Dates As a personal chef I am expected to deliver an exceptional customer experience. I shop at various markets (depending on my menu) -- this past week selecting WINCO because I wanted to serve my client a roasted turkey breast. I did buy a turkey breast on 5/11 and then realized when I returned home that it expired on 5/6. Called WINCO -- and of course I had to return to the store. I also told them to clean the bin of old poultry. I returned the following day and behold: expired turkey breasts. I handed the expired meat to someone who worked in the meat department and then headed to Customer Support. They somehow considered this transaction as "an exchange" and charged me the difference. I was fuming as I left WINCO. I did call the Manager and he said it was handed inappropriately. I could again return to the store and get my money back. I declined. I am a busy person with many clients. And most of all -- why would you let a person who doesn't know store policies handle this situation. An exchange... Really? I don't fault her; I fault WINCO. And to top it off -- I bought a watermelon and when I cut it open it was rotted. So WINCO will not be on my list again. I cannot take the risk of serving my clients food that is below their expectations. A real disappointment since WINCO is nearby....trust is everything to me. So my review is BUYER BEWARE. I like this place for everything except for their meat. I made pork ribs in the crockpot that I bought from their large meat section and there was very little meat on them. I then tried their beef bone marrow and roasted it in the oven, and again I'm not impressed. There's literally no marrow so I just decided to make a broth. I've been shopping this Winco for several years. Great prices. However the food is often sub par. I have stopped purchasing meat there. I typically only by one hand basket of food at a time and use the self checkout to save time. However, ofter the check-out requires assistance as the machines are either poor quality or poorly maintained. Today I had to get assistance four times. Frustrating so much that today was my last time shopping there. I check back in a few years and see if they every improve the shopping experience. Meanwhile, I'm headed back to where I shopped before. Save the frustration. read more

I love Winco! I'm so glad one has opened up in Edmonds. I've been here 3 times now and each time I've been gone, the employees have always been so kind and helpful. It doesn't matter if it's today or 2 years from now, Winco will always be extremely packed! The best advice I can give is to do your grocery shopping after 7pm, that's when the hoards of people start dying down! The best part is that it's a 24 hour grocery store! So Winco isn't exactly my "aesthetic". But I will say the place is clean and it is employee owned. They have bulk foods and a meat counter - but it is no Whole Foods. I am a single dad with five kids - my grocery bill at Safeway has been about 250.00 plus a week. A weeks worth of nearly the same groceries at Winco last night was 155.00. The Winco is quite a bit further away, but I think I'm going to make the switch. read more

I used to really love this store. But then I had a really negative and embarrassing experience here the day after Thanksgiving. I have made multiple attempts to contact Winco, but the management has decided to just ignore the issue. The day after Thanksgiving, I visited the Edmonds Winco alone to get a few groceries. I also picked up some beer. As I was checking out, I was informed that my "friend" needed to show her ID to purchase the beer too. I told the cashier I didn't have a "friend" with me, I was alone. He then said again that my "friend" needed to come give her ID or else I couldn't buy the beer. By then I was very frustrated, it had been a long holiday weekend and I just wanted to go home and relax. I once again reiterated that I did not have a friend with me, that I was alone, and I didn't know what he was talking about. He then told me to go ask the girl at the customer service because she's the one who saw me with my friend. I went over and asked her "what friend? Because I'm alone." To which she said something along the lines of the friend who put the liquor on my belt and left. She then asked what I was trying to buy, to which I told her Redd's Cider and another type of cider. She then laughed and said "Oh sorry, wrong person!" By then, multiple customers saw the entire exchange and it was very embarrassing. All I wanted to hear from this Winco was that they would review this and train accordingly on making sure their staff was being careful in who, and how, they accuse people of breaking the law. Unfortunately they have chosen instead to ignore my complain/concern and block my review on Facebook. I will not be returning to this Winco ever again due to their unprofessional handling of the situation, and their inability to handle when they made an error. read more

I am retired and live close to Fred Meyer's but I'm willing to drive two miles north, Kroger brand you saved 1-2%, But Winco brand you save 15-25%. Fresh bakery, and hot deli chicken, fresh soup. after 10am. I go there every 2-3 days a week. read more

I come here about once every other week. Bottom line is that the prices are noticeably lower on most, but not all, things. They actually carry a number of products Safeway and QFC do not. This place is great. Every time I check out I'm amazed at how small my total is. Selection can be limited as far as specific brands go, but they always have the necessities and they're always cheap. Decent selection of meats, cheeses, and seafood, and I've noticed that their bakery section is getting better and better. They also have an awesome bulk (bag your own quantity) section with everything you could want from salt and flour to sour patch kids and Swedish fish. Bulk dog food, coffee, and honey are also available. You can even fresh grind your own peanut, almond, and cashew butter. This place is kind of like a Costco but without having to buy huge quantities. Definitely my favorite place for large grocery trips. You do have to bag your own groceries, but they give you a discount for bringing your own bags. Lines can be pretty long, but they do have some self checkout kiosks if you aren't getting a lot and want to get in and out. Bonus** there's a Dick's burgers in the same parking lot! read more

i went here a couple days ago( as I type this) expressly for the sugar free taffy. it seems to be a warehouse store, and so while i was there i looked at some other things i tend to buy at the grocery store. some prices were higher than Safeway and QFC and some prices were lower. as far as prices go it is about average, there is not enough savings to go there regularly and it is about ten to fifteen miles away from where i live. but the store is huge, bigger than safeway ever thought of being. I like the fact that they have bulk candy and other dry goods in bulk and sugar free stuff as well. the one thing i really do not like is they don't take credit cards and are a lot of rules for accepting checks but people were loading up carts like the power would be out for a month starting tomorrow. there were a bunch of cash registers but only about half were in use. read more

Staff at edmonds wa winco is average at best. they dont offer plastic bags or paper bags that supposed have handles on them. 2 stars.
