Love in the time of COVID: I'm a huge fan of WINCO at any time of the year but what a difference COVID has made when comparing WINCO to Safeway. On Monday the 30th I grabbed a few veggies at the Safeway on 41st but there wasn't enough cashiers to run the number of registers needed so lines of shoppers were backed up into the aisles. Everyone looked frazzled and stressed out. Today the 31st I made my usual trip to WINCO at 219th on 99 where every register was running, no lines, people smiling, people stocking shelves had the time and took the time to talk to customers. Plus, every item is cheaper than any other grocery store and unlike Walmart, WINCO doesn't treat its customers like thieves. read more

Oh me luvs Winco..... okay, it's more of a crush really..... Parking lot the size of a small airport, they need it, always a line up of carts ready to be filled, which is nice, and very helpful and friendly worker-bees, keeps me coming back. Great prices, while not a huge selection of specialty items or organic, which is fine, I basically shop here for staples. My personal favorite is the helpful staff, you can always tell who they are, often they are moving at a fast pace to keep things stocked, ask about something and they'll even walk you to the aisle and point to what you are looking for, if they have it. I also like the lay-out of the place, end-caps are full of sale items, and the aisles themselves don't get moved around on a monthly basis, the organization makes sense, as in, cat and dog food are in the same area, along with pet treats, supplies and such. Unlike some chains who move things around constantly, or they mix things up, say, sports drinks/sodas/mixers are put here and there all over the store, similar items are well placed together. Mixers are next to the beer and wine, and a smaller selection up front near the "adult beverage" area. While sports drinks, energy drinks, and fizzy water are in the similar grouping, things just seem to be laid out well. And the biggest plus of this place, is.... the aisles are nice and wide!! 2 carts, even 3 carts can pass side by side without getting your knuckles bloodied.... trust me, I know.... We used to travel to Marysville for a Winco adventure, but now I can stay close to home..... Other have mentioned, limited payment options, as in no credit cards, yes, you have to bag your own groceries, but this way when the eggs get crushed, you can only blame yourself.... lol.... read more

I'll give them another shot in the future and update them if necessary. The produce was incredibly lackluster today. Like bad. Fruit flies everywhere. Many onions were moldy, most lettuce was squishy, strawberries looked abysmal, at that point I gave up on produce and decided I'd shop elsewhere. I was actually buying a lot of stuff and had to use the bathroom. I don't think businesses understand how nice it is to walk into a nice bathroom but this one was bad. It was outdated and uncomfortable to start and it was just a mess. Bare bones cleaning here, even during COVID it's blatantly obvious they don't even wipe down the stalls. Seriously gross, if anything avoid the bathrooms here. Gotta give em a slight break because they're on 99, but this is bad. I'm going to echo what some other patrons observed as well, carts didn't appear clean, if they're being wiped down it's poorly. And as other people have mentioned. The staff I encountered were all pretty unfriendly. Cold, short, not one person said have a nice day, thanks for being here, how's your night going, nothing. I like this location. They have good prices for fruits and vegetables plus they have a variety of organic produce. A huge plus is that they are open 24 hours. I usually buy produce here plus heavy whipping cream. I follow Atkins/Fatkins/keto and noticed that their meats and chicken are hit or miss. Sometimes they have chicken thighs for 68 cents per pound. Last time I was there they were 98 cents per pound. (I go to Trader Joe's for ribeye where it's $8.99 per pound.) Some people say that customers are predominantly low-income. However I saw people from all walks of life shopping while I was there. Cashiers are nice, friendly, and helpful. Customers have to pack their own groceries. Make sure you bring reusable grocery bags with you. There is a large square black button at the end of the conveyor belt that you push with your hand or knee to move the items near the area where you pack your groceries. It's user friendly and not complicated at all. Dick's Drive In is right next door so I usually buy groceries at WinCo first. After I'm done grocery shopping at WinCo, I go next door to Dick's Drive In to buy burgers and french fries for my cheat day to eat at home. Will I return? Definitely. read more

Had to go to the Everett Costco for tire replacement. So, had two hours to spend before the tire was replaced. Decided to come to WinCo, as i have never been to this store before. First impression while shopping, was of wilted produce. Unfortunately, many of the fruits and vegetables were either moldy and soft or underipe.I shop for my Chinese student and found a small selection of Asian foods. Going on to buy meat, there were subpar meat selections. The one redeeming factor, is the staff here. My impression is that the staff acknowledge the low grade food they sell, but try hard with customer service. Having worked myself in customer service, this a real challenge. For you are the front line person, responding directly to the customer , for inferior products. I found the staff very helpful and attentive. My take on it was "we acknowledge our food is not good, but we will still try to maintain great customer service." Kudos to the WinCo staff, for offering excellent customer service, with the store's poor offerings. read more

Best prices with the most broad selection in the area. My favorite thing about Winco are all the foods that you can take piece by piece. It's great when you only need a hand full of walnuts for baking. You can get mostly ANYTHING for as little or as bulk as you'd like. From noddles, candy, nuts, oatmeal, pet food, honey, peanut butter, and even apple cider vinegar, list goes on! I don't know any other place with such a huge selection. Unfortunately due to such low prices, this place is packed with lower income people. So far it's been good because the place is brand new. The lines are super quick and there are self check out stands as well. And staff, wow!! Very professional, helpful and friendly! I look forward to continuing my business here for a while.. read more

I went there to shop for groceries. I was done shopping and had everything bagged. Come to find out, they don't take CC only debit, cash and checks. They will hold your bagged groceries while you go and grab you debit card. I thought that was a very nice gesture. Good customer care by the cashier too. Edmonds, WA location is a VERY crooked store. Displays signs indicating discounts which they do not honor at checkout. Management provides excuses as to why the signs have been placed in mistake/error, but they all remain over the merchandise day after day. An obvious attempt to lure customers they hope will not notice the price differences at the register, or will fell at unease to confront cashiers over the issue. What kind of legitimate store would propagate this dishonesty? Many employees act as though they hate their jobs, and are disinterested in anything but socializing with one another. i am a serious grocery shopper and always looking for best values. i thought winco was a brown box low end grocery. surprise! the prices are right on. we are not talking 25 cents or 50 cents difference. we are talking dollars difference. for me, Fred Meyers was always the best price in town. not anymore. Mozzetta Jalapeno Stuffed Olives are $3 less than Fred Meyers. box Franzia chardonnay is $12.97 v. $14.99 at Fred Meyers. most everything is high quality and brand name and dollars less in price. vegetables are less so. they are lower in price, but lower in quality imho. unfortunately the beef is labeled (good!) as "select or better". during the holidays "choice" cuts are presented. all in all, i will shop Winco for the great prices for most shelf items and keep a sharp eye out for the beef prices. let's just say my i am not accruing much gas points from Fred Meyer nowadays. read more

The store at Aurora and 220th does not require its employees to wear masks. I reported a young man not wearing his mask when working with shopping carts at the front door. The lady at the self checkout registers said it was because he was working outside. She did go talk to him but when I left the store a half hour later, he was still working at the front door not wearing a mask. Beware of shopping at that store. read more

I wish I could give this a 4 1/2 star rating because the reduction is only because this location doesn't have super crunchy- organic pink lady apples like the branch in Tigard, Oregon. They actually don't have any organic apples that I could see. I would never patronize Winco again after how my boyfriend and I were treated. We are long time customers of this Winco, spending close to $400 a month on groceries there. One day we went in and did our regular shopping, purchased $200 worth of groceries as usual, and a security guard stopped my boyfriend on the way out for accidentally not paying for a tiny pack of hair ties-- less than $3 worth of product. We were walking out with a FULL cart of over $200 worth of merchandise that we had just paid for. This was purely an accident. He offered to walk back in and fix the mistake and pay for the hair ties. Instead, they forced him into a small room, locking him in and me out, refusing to even see my receipt or hear any account from me. On the way into the room by an LPO, my boyfriend is being pushed ahead of the guy, turns around to look at him because he has no idea where he is going (why is he LEADING?) and the guy tackles him to the ground forcefully in the middle of like 10 people. He was already walking back into the store with the guy- there is video footage, and was ABSOLUTELY not trying to flee or resist. It felt completely discriminatory. 2 people who witnessed the tackle/attack inside the store stayed with me for over an hour while I sat there alone with our $200 worth of paid groceries because what they saw was so ridiculous to them and they wanted to give their accounts if they could-- I also got their numbers for legal reasons. My boyfriend is a smaller stature man, has never been in trouble in his life, 100% clean record. Never had a single charge in his entire life, let alone a speeding ticket, same goes for me. We both are very hard-working, honest young people who have been together for 10 years. All of this was over a simple, tiny mistake that could have been easily resolved without all the dramatics. They sat in the room and berated him for over an hour, calling him a piece of shit and berating him with sexist comments, questioning his manhood because I (a woman) had paid for the groceries with my card this particular time (we swap off who pays every 2 weeks-- sharing an income). All over less than $3 of hair ties and a simple mistake. We kept the receipt for the $200 of food we purchased and my boyfriend got this thrown out in court, thank god. Winco banned him (for 100 years lol!) and wants him to pay a $250 restitution (not court ordered, Winco made this stipulation up). Winco is missing out on the almost $5000 we spent there per year now, all over some hair ties and the tiniest mistake. Lol. Fine by me. I'll spend my money somewhere that doesn't pull this kind of bs. After some further research there are a lot of accounts and forums online dedicated to boycotting due to the fact that Winco has done this to SO MANY different people. Including senior individuals with alzheimer's, mothers whose small children accidentally took/ruined literally pennies worth of merchandise, etc. Check out complaintsboard.com, Avvo, Youtube to see their LPO's mistreating people in the back rooms and tackling them-- including children. I will NEVER patronize another Winco in my life. I can personally go, as I was not the one who was charged/banned. But I would never step foot in any of them after reading that this is a common practice for them. Feels like they are just trying to make a buck off of a $250 restitution. Jokes on them, they were already making 5x that off of me and they are losing out on that now. Idiotic. We really like our local WinCo and all that work there, Today we had the Lead Clerk check us out and Brandon M was FANTASTIC! THANK YOU Brandon. Then we go over to purchase some Lottery tickets. Nobody is in there no line and behind the counter is Audra. VERY RUDE. I/we don't buy Lottery tickets so I hand her the money and she acts put out, questions which one I want to purchase and I sayI don't know, and with that she motions to me to go and fill a ticket out. Again her body language is very put out with me, her body language and her tone. I did fill it out, came back, now there is a line, I wait and when she gets to me, she is as nice as can be. I explain to her how before this she was rude. She says that is not what she intended...and tries to be real nice. First impressions mean a lot. This store is amazing! It has a great assortment of bulk foods and it always has my go to item--beyond burgers--in stock! They even have Beyond Brats, which I've never found anywhere else. My husband and I checked out the new WinCo on their second day of the Grand Opening. Yes, it was crowded, as can be expected. Everyone wanted to see the new place, get the layout of the aisles, and take advantage of the great deals. Directly as you enter the store: shoppers are steered towards the right...through a hall of amazingly low priced deals. A totally random assortment of items...and then you are actually in the store proper. I cannot believe how many bulk candy and assorted items this store has! They even carry bulk birdseed, dry cat food, and dry dog food (hope no kid gets that mixed up with the candy ones across the aisle)! There were many helpful employees moving about the store and one over-eagerly asked me, multiple times (throughout my same shopping trip), how I was doing. At checkout, be prepared to bag your own groceries and put them in paper bags without any handles. Keep in mind: This store has some of the same feel as a grocery outlet, even though you can find a lot of the brands you would like...there are not many variations on that brand. Example- they carry Dove Body Wash, but only the original scent, none of it's variations. Also when looking for Cascade Dishwasher Detergent we did not find the liquid product and had to settle for Cascade pods. Greatest cheap find: Mezzetta Garlic Stuffed Olives were at least 2 dollars cheaper than at QFC! yay! read more

A great place for food. But they have problems at self checkout. First, they have limits of 15 items and less but I saw many customers has more than 20 items and choose that area for checking out. And there change machines had a problem that giving less amount. It happens to me several months ago and I just thought maybe it was dropped by mistake at first. When it happened again, I started to check the amount when I got changes and found that the machines gave less. They have six machines and problems happen at different machines but don't know if it ran out of the coins or system error. read more

WinCo Foods - A great place for food and so lucky that got these two for $4 together at WinCo Foods - Grocery Near Me - Edmonds, Washington

My first time at a WinCo. Two observations: things are inexpensive and the place is packed. I went on a Sunday and I have to drive around a bit to find a parking spot. The parking lot is busy with both cars and people doing stupid things, so pay attention. Once inside you have to dodge people, carts, and employees restocking. It's a little annoying. Things are pretty cheap, for example, bananas are $.49 a pound, the cheapest of the many places I've shopped. I think a half gallon of milk was $1.72. They also have a lot of stuff in bins that you can choose the quantify you want. They have candy, nuts, drink mixes, beans, lentils, even avocado oil. That was pretty cool. I was slightly confused at check out, I definitely was not the only one :). You'll have to see if to believe it... :) I'll probably come back for fruits and veggies until my favorite farm stand re-opens, for milk and the selection of oils, oatmeal, rice, beans.. read more

Pros: Low prices, mind-boggling assortment of bulk items, massive array of different sorts of stuff (they even sell incense, which I haven't seen anywhere in years). Cons: Cash/Check/Debit only (no credit cards), bag your own stuff, and in paper bags only thanks to the well-meaning but utterly boneheaded ban on plastic bags in Edmonds. Milk here is cheaper than elsewhere, with skim going for $2.30/gallon I believe. Prices are comparable to Walmart without that Walmart experience, or Costco without having to buy enough to last you a year. First time in just to look around I replaced about half the stuff in my spice rack (best prices I've seen anywhere by a large margin) and bought an assortment of other stuff. Bread prices are excellent. The Safeway down the road has some serious competition from this store, in a way that they did not from Top. read more

Winco opened with really low prices which later increased. It most reminds me of Wal-Mart. Prices are similar. Produce is similar, maybe a little better. Meat is also odd looking like Wal-Mart. Packaged, canned and processed foods are cheaper than other places. Bulk bins are decent but overall I just don't enjoy shopping there. read more

I love winco but not this store location. Their produce in particular is always in rough shape. Twice now when we've bought spinach or salad mix, when we bring it home and open it up, it's already gone bad. The expiration on things have been shorter than I've seen at other stores on some products and the price for groceries here is the same if not more than what you would pay going to one of the Fred Meyers in lynnwood. read more

It's amazing how things can change. I decided to be a little less critical of winco after all it's one of the few grocery stores open late. They are now back to 24 hours. I still hate the giant ass fan that blows cold air upon entering and exiting but the prices here are pretty damn good. The selection is also good as well. I actually just discovered another area of the store that I had no idea existed. The bulk food section and let me tell you it's dangerous. Everything you can think of in bulk. But it by the ounce or pound, candy, pasta, spices you name it. Yes some prices for certain items can be a little high. I typically just get the store brand as your just paying for the name with generic. If I could change just one thing it would be the beeping noises. If your here late at night between 11 pm and probably 3 or 4 am you will hear forklifts constantly beeping loudly. This is so they can stock the shelves. Bring reusable bags and get 6 cents off. Don't know if carts are being wiped but wipes are available. Store was very clean. Tonight I spent about 74$ but it would've been well over 100$ at FM, Safeway or QFC read more

I love WINCO on Aurora! I lived in Idaho for 7 years, near a WINCO and was used to the great prices. When I moved to Shoreline, and the closest Winco, was in Everett I was really disappointed. They keep their prices low by being employee-owned and making you bag your own groceries and not accepting credit cards like American Express. Prices are GREAT and they carry all staple items. I especially LOVE their bulk foods section for pasta, flour, sugar, and bulk candy. The prices are EXCELLENT especially compared to Fred Meyer. I LOVE the Cascade Pride bread and chips they offer. Prices are good and good quality. Juanita Chips at WINCO are a GREAT deal! There are some cons. 1. The staff is new, and no where as good, as fast, or as knowledgeable as in Nampa, Idaho. They don't seem to understand how to check two people out at a time (where in Nampa it is FAST). 2. Be VERY careful about fruit purchases. I have twice purchased grapes that were moldy in the middle. However, you CAN return food if it is moldy when you get home. Their customer service is very friendly. 3. Their meat section and butchers are good, but sometimes pre-cuts aren't trimmed well, and 4. there are items (especially organic, wheat free, etc) that are hard to find. 5. Soda doesn't go on sale very often, and I wouldn't buy feminine protection or shampoo there, because their prices are higher on those products. Compared to Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons, and QFC their prices are incredible! I save at least 15% on everything, and somethings (like Pillusbury) up to 50%. read more

This was my first time at this location, and I was shopping during a holiday season. So the store was packed with people. The prices were reasonable and comparable. Update from 9/18: 9/21/2021. Saturday evening, my wife and I went to the Tacoma WinCo on 72nd street near I-5. We bought a full bag of groceries and paid $39.60 (we thought). We returned in a few minutes because my wife's extreme financial attentiveness discovered that my bank account and her credit union account had BOTH been charged the full purchase price for the groceries. We attempted to solve the problem but were sent away with the apparent idea that procrastination would end up solving the problem. It didn't. Both of our accounts continued to show a debit charge of $39.60 with no corresponding return of funds until this evening. I had contacted corporate customer support with the idea that they may act more promptly and this evening my account showed the return of funds. At least they responded, requested further information, returned the funds to one account and gave a sort of standard industry apology for my inconvenience. Folks should remain closely attentive to their account funds if they choose to shop at WinCo, and be very assertive about recovering their funds if they come up short, because They gave me no reason to believe that my experience has changed anything fundamental in the way they intend to function, and being charged double can viciously reduce any savings you might otherwise realize. The manner in which it occurred to us would probably have been overlooked by most people. Although the technology exists to make this double charge nearly impossible, any company that would benefit from the error is poorly motivated to fix the problem. The remedy given to me was the absolute minimum they could get away with and it took THREE DAYS!!! read more
