I was randomly in Tracy visiting a friend when she mentioned she needed to stop at the store for a few items. The store she described was "like costco, but without the need of a card." sure thing... I thought. That was until I walked into the store and immediately saw my favorite $2.00 chilli for .98. What the price cut!? As we made our way through the store my basket begin filling up as I suddenly had no impulse control. I was like a child in a candy store! And although I had to cut my impromptu grocery shopping spree short, I knew this was love. All I have to say is that I have never in my 31 years interacting with the public(as an employee or as a customer) felt so disappointed and outraged by the customer service from one of the late night checkers by the name of Daraen/Deraen. She has been so incredibly rude to my husband and I on multiple occasions and tonight was the final straw. My review its not for the store, its for the employees... i was at the self checkout . I looked around to see if there was a limit. (Which there was but I didnt notice.) I starting to checkout. And paid for a transaction. Had some things still in my cart because i wanted to use two different type of payment. Then the lady at the self checkout came close to me and basically said that what i was doing. And that i couldnt do that because it was confusing for her to see what i paid and that i had over 15 items the place was only for less then 15 items and since i had more i should of gone to a cashier line. She was not polite. I apologize and continue with my second transaction. She came up to me stand next to me and made me soooo uncomfortable. She kept telling me if i wanted to cancel everything i already did and go to a cashier if it was hard for me..i told her that i done did so many times before that i can be a cashier my self. Ha ha.. but it wasnt funny at the moment. I had to throw all my groceries in my cart fast so she would stop annoying me. I understand theres policies. But she could ask politely at the beginning to go to a cashier since the beginning... i got very anxious and annoyed. Even my son got nervous. Because she was on our space. I was visiting a friend who lives in Moutain House, and we needed oil for baking, she took me to WinCo....I walked in, first time, and literally was like a deer in headlights. This place was a food kingdom. I could not even fathom having to stock those shelves! Anywho, the selection and prices were beyond cheap...esp compared to like where i normally shop....safeway...fresh n easy....bla bla...I am so driving from Dublin to Tracy to go save a couple hundred bucks and stock up!!! Great prices, very good selection. I went there with my wife and daughter, and its just a "different" shopping experience compared to the Safeway and Raley's that we're used to. The layout of the store kind of forces you to take a long walk though most of the store to get from the entrance to the checkout. No coffee shop or free bakery cookie for the kids.. which usually takes the edge off of grocery shopping. You also have to bag your own groceries. If it weren't for the great prices, I would give this store 3 stars. The Deli is decent for meats, and is actually about half price of safeway or raleys. I'll probably start shopping here regularly, but will likely be shopping by myself rather than the family outing that grocery shopping used to be. Its cheaper, but its not as pleasant as browsing at raleys while sipping a peets coffee. read more

Cracks me up, reading some of these reviews!! But they're sooo true! I love that they built the Tracy store, now we don't have to maze through Stockton, just on and off I-5. Yeah, you need to check some items carefully before purchase. We were getting a bag of potatoes, and there was this rotten smell coming from one of them, just totally turned me off. Decided to buy just a few singles after that. What I can't understand is why their Yuban Dark Roast is almost $12.00 a can! Walmart sells both original and Dark for the same price under $9.00. Oh well, you can't always find everything in one store. Still love Winco on other items! read more

I purchased the WinCo croissant with a today fresh date. Quickly found a fly stuck in one of the croissants. The fly was literally imbedded.

Comparing to nearby Safeways, Targets, Walmarts), this place has the fastest checkout with the most available checkouts at any time! This is the first place I was able to go straight to have my items scanned without having someone in front of me. They scan so quickly! I recommend it for stocking up on drinks, pasta, or things that last a long time. I would treat it like a Costco, make use of it especially if you know you will be catering for a bigger group of people. If I had the opportunity to throw parties, it would be where I come for buying snacks or ingredients. I like to make my own cakes but the pre-made cakes did look tempting! read more

Ok, so first the negative, to get it out of the way- I purchased some ribeyes from Winco for CHEAP.... and they were pretty bad. Terribly tough and bland. Ok, so I won't purchase my meat from Winco. Costco already had my business for meat anyway. Now for what I LOVE WinCo for! The bulk items! HOORAY!!! Amazing deals on bulk bins of almost anything you can think of from seasonings to flour to cereal to dog food. This morning I went and purchased a few bulk items. A lb. of dried split peas for under a buck. Panko bread crumbs for just over a buck a pound (usually this stuff is expensive!). Seasoned flour for fried chicken, super cheap. Rice at .41/lb. Onion soup mix for 1.29/lb (Love that stuff in tons of recipes!). I also picked up some seasoning shakers for $.84/ea and got a few CHEAP seasoning staples. Along with some ham steaks to throw into my split pea soup, several veggies and some bulk pumpkin seeds to snack on I spent a grand total of $10.63! Not Bad!! Oh, keep in mind- They DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS! Debit cards, cash and check though! read more

I go to winco as a last resort since we moved near the area we started to by meat from there and after a week or two my family started to get sick. There is absolutely zero quality when it comes to the meat and cheese at this place unless your are poor and can't afford better don't buy, your risking your health. I had to return almost a whole pack of deformed and horrifyingly abused looking chicken parts a few months ago. I usually enjoy their bulk section but soon found out that the rice they sell IS PLASTIC RICE and was told by an employee that all their bulk food comes from China....if your unaware the food standards in China are none exsistant. The produce is ok I guess although considering Tracy is surrounded by farms you would think they would choose more local better quality produce. They recently added some organic stuff which is nice but when I purchased a few bags of apples they appeared to have puncher wounds in them and tasted very strange. I think winco should strive to serve their community better and do more to support local products and bring better quality meat. I wish grocery stores would care as much about the health of the community that shops there as they do about keeping prices low. Until then I highly recommend buying local produce from Arya Farms down the street from them. At arya the actually care about the people who put money in their pockets. read more

I'm in love with their bulk foods!!! I love it when I need a spice I can just get a little bit, instead of buying a whole jar for $4-5, it's so convenient!! Their prices are so low, its crazy :) The deli staff is super friendly. And they're open 24/7. We live 2 mins away from another grocery store, but I always drive across town to Winco. read more

I had a situation today where I left an item at one of the check stands, I got home to unload groceries only to find that one item missing. Anyway, it took at least 15 mins to verify, they had to check surveillance and low and behold they confirmed someone else took the item 15 mins after it was sitting on the counter. I just have to say "Thank you" for the process, it was expedient and I'm glad they have the surveillance. I only hope the dishonest thief gets his/hers one day. I frequently patronize this grocery store and I'm content with the fact that they did not hassled me and they had evidence of the mishap, I certainly would not return if they would have mistreated me/situation. I was introduced to WinCo when I was going to school in Stockton and I loved it! So much that I wish there were some here in the Bay Area. Pros about this place is that you can buy just enough of what you need. Best prices ever!! My family makes a trip once a month from the Bay Area to shop here. They have a great selection of gluten free products, that are cheaper than the other grocery stores. The store is always clean. Love the bulk bins! You get SO MUCH MORE at WinCo for your money. read more

However, the only thing that kept me from giving it a full 5 stars, is that in the several times I've been, I keep seeing their same employee with his pants at his knees...literally. I've lived in Tracy for 6 years and always shopped either at Savemart or Costco. But now that I am a SAHM and we are living off of one income I have been shopping here for nearly a year! I can spend around $100-125 on groceries a week for 3 people. I love the bulk item section. And I like that it is open 24 hrs/day. I've been there early in the morning to beat the crowds. read more

I shop here about 2 times a month, love the bulk items. Most things are cheaper but HBA is way more expensive than walmart. I gave it a 3 because the breads (any brand) turns moldy in just a matter of a day or two. I also dont care for the milk. read more
