I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, and finally made it there on a Friday (that has weekend pricing contrary to online information.) Service is great. The food is pretty good, too, but the pictures and information aren't always accurate. For example, the salmon cheese roll includes avocado and tobiko according to both the picture and the description (so basically a Philly roll), but my order only came with the salmon and cream cheese. Fortunately I didn't get the food waste penalty. The appetizers are great. I had calimari, shrimp, and crab rangoon. The rolls are pretty good, too, apart from the aforementioned disappointment. The drinks are good, but I was disappointed plum wine wasn't on the menu even though one of the cocktails includes plum wine. I never did get a visit from the robocat. Probably the most expensive all-you-can-eat sushi establishment I've been to, but fine for an occasional treat. read more

I've visited Wind enough times, both for dine-in and takeout, to feel comfortable giving a detailed review. Dining In: 3 Stars The strongest part of this restaurant is the food itself. The flavors are good, portions are good (has per piece option for AYCE), and most dishes taste fresh and enjoyable. - this part deserves a 4-5 stars Unfortunately, the dine-in experience doesn't match the quality of the food. Presentation is often underwhelming and inconsistent. While the food tastes good, it is not always presented in an appealing way, which takes away from the overall dining experience. I'd rate the presentation closer to 2 stars. Service and execution can also be inconsistent. There have been multiple occasions where items were forgotten or missed entirely. While these issues may seem minor individually, they add up over time and affect the overall experience. I'd rate punctuality/ service at 2-3 stars Cleanliness: 3-4 Stars Another area that could use improvement is cleanliness. From my experience, the dining area is generally acceptable, but the restrooms are often not maintained to the same standard. On multiple visits, the bathrooms have appeared dirty, and the trash bins have frequently looked full or overdue for emptying. While it hasn't been bad enough to make me leave, it is noticeable and does affect my overall impression of the restaurant. Takeout: 1 Star for Timing, 5 Stars for Packaging Ironically, the presentation of takeout orders is consistently better than what I've received while dining in. The packaging is neat, organized, and the food generally arrives looking exactly as expected. For takeout presentation alone, I would give 5 stars. However, the timing of takeout orders is consistently disappointing. I've ordered takeout multiple times, and almost every time I've arrived at the scheduled pickup time, the order has not been ready. Delays of 30-40 minutes seem to be the norm rather than the exception. My most recent experience was particularly frustrating. I placed my order about an hour ahead and selected a 6:00 PM pickup time. When I arrived on time, I was told the order would require another 40+ minutes. When I asked why, I was informed that the kitchen doesn't begin preparing takeout orders until the scheduled pickup time. That explanation makes no sense to me. If a customer orders an hour in advance and selects a pickup time, the expectation is that the food will be ready around that time. Otherwise, the pickup time is really just the time the restaurant starts working on the order. Delays can happen, especially during busy periods, and I would be understanding if this were an occasional issue. Unfortunately, after multiple takeout orders, this appears to be a recurring pattern. The food quality is the reason I've continued coming back, but good food alone can only compensate for so much. Between the inconsistent dine-in presentation, missed items, cleanliness concerns, and repeated takeout delays, the overall experience falls short of what I would expect. There is definitely potential here, but the restaurant needs to improve its execution, attention to detail, and respect for customers' time. Visiting several times now every time I'm in the area, each time it's always a great experience. First things first, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and there's the feeling of being in a fine dining establishment. We were sat towards the back area of the restaurant where it seems less crowded and cozier. We found the sushi to be fresh and delicious. The only complaint we found this time around was the rice for the nigiri was bigger than I remember. At least twice the size which was off-putting. I ordered one of their special items, their foie gras nigiri and this was delicious and worth every penny. As for the Thai food, the Pad Thai and the Currys tasted as if we ordered from a Thai restaurant. The flavors were spot on, and we love the fact the dishes weren't full sized entrees giving us the opportunity to save our stomach room to try other dishes. The service was impeccable and made our experience that much better. Overall, we make it a point to stop by here when we're in the area because not only will we not find the same value for our money, but the quality is also top-notch. read more

We decided to go to Wind on a whim one random Monday evening. We waited about 4 minutes to sit with no reservation. We were asked if we would be ordering all you can eat or a la carte. Be at it was our first time there, we were given a nice explanation. We opted for the all you can eat. I absolutely love how the plates are smaller so we could try more if the menu. We ate about 16 plates total between the two of us, which according to the server wasn't that much, so ear up! The ambiance was amazing as well. I would have liked to be a bit more dressed up. My family enjoys dinning here for birthday celebrations, we usually come with about nine people and opt for the all you can eat. The children in my family range ages 4-7 years and they all absolutely love the sushi, edamame, octopus, squid, noodles and fried scallops. They're also always entertained by the robo cat that delivers the food. We've been to the Transit location several times and always have a good experience. We're seated quickly (we do make reservations, I highly recommend them), our waiter/waitress is always nice and accommodating (we do have someone in our party with allergies), the food comes relatively fast once we give everyone a chance to review the iPad to make their food selections. I love the calm, dimly lit ambiance, it's relaxing even though the place is always busy. The manager always makes it over to our table to chat. I always joke it's probably because they can't believe we ordered 15 pieces of octopus, but literally everyone enjoys it. Food comes out fairly quickly either by a person or a delivery robot. Staff came by frequently to take plates and make sure everything was going well. Rolls were multiple pieces, usually 8 or 6,the menu indicates, and other sushi was 1 piece but you can order multiple pieces at once. All the sushi was great and fresh. There are also some non sushi options. The pad Thai and beef with broccoli were both also good and were more than a few bites but smaller than a normal stand alone serving which is nice when you're having a taste of multiple things. Finally, we visited 'Wind Japanese & Thai'. My 'sushi buddy' and I came here mainly for sashimi and Japanese dishes. Our third person ordered more meat and vegetables. I was also checking the vibe and everything in between. Expectations were rather high. The three of us were looking forward to having some fun with the 'all you can eat' experience. It's a really nice restaurant, I agree. Unfortunately, our table (actually a comfortable booth) was at the front, near the entrance, opposite the bar, next to the cash register station even though I made a reservation. I just didn't have a chance to explore the interior too much. The place was packed and loud on a Tuesday evening. I should just start by saying that our sashimi wasn't the best or even that good. At first, we weren't sure why, but shortly we both realized and agreed that almost all the pieces tasted watery. Plus, some of the white tuna had unappetizing yellowish edges. Not a good sign, right? I regret we didn't address the issue right away. Lesson learned. In general, I wasn't too excited about the food. We tried lots from the menu. It's just my personal opinion, yours could be totally opposite. Please don't hesitate to visit Wind Japanese & Thai if you haven't done it yet. Have your own opinion, especially if you order different dishes then we did. Maybe we were unlucky with the orders. What did we enjoy the most? The Grilled Eggplant, Pumpkin Tempura (?!... I know!), Torched Salmon, Yellowtail & Tobiko Sushi, Black Dragon Roll, Grilled Beef & Chicken Satay, Edamame, Enoki Mushroom Beef & Grilled Beef Short Ribs weren't bad as well. The Thai Coconut Soup had a nice flavor with a comfortable spice level. Spicy Scallop Sushi & Soft Shell Crab Handroll were overpowered with mayo. The Shrimp Tempura had too much tempura. Salmon Rose Sushi was nothing that I remember, very little flavor. Shall I continue? A small piece of Grilled Chilean Seabass contained just skin, fin, bones, and fat. Even the wasabi didn't have much kick to it. The biggest disappointment was the Thai Spicy Basil Beef. It looked and tasted like a Chinese lunch special in soupy sweet brown sauce, and they gave us a full bowl of it. The crew working that evening was very attentive. Our empty plates were quickly cleared away, making our stay pleasant and tidy. Even a glass of water and an unfinished beer disappeared while one of our companions went to the restroom. This is one of my favorite restaurants as a 'destination' location. It's typically an annual birthday dinner. The food is always so delicious. The food is always fantastic, anything I have tried. My kids (tween down to elementary school) always love coming here. Know that the place WILL BE busy during a weekend evening. The robots dropping food to the table is fun, and having the iPad to order things from is very nice. Sometimes the staff could benefit from seeming less annoyed that people are there... but it's a self-contained enough evening that it should not take away from the experience. read more

Arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation and were seated shortly after. The service was okay. A waitress spilled water or something next to my seat and didn't tell anyone. A manager later spotted the spill and cleaned it up. The men's bathroom smelled and was not very clean. When we ordered our food multiple items were sold out including several soda flavors which seems ridiculous. The ambiance is uncomfortably loud between the background music and diners' conversations. Wind is a gorgeous restaurant with amazing atmosphere. Ordering was a little confusing since we thought that inputting the meal on the tablet provided was enough, but apparently you need flag down a waiter for them to fully submit the order. Something not explained and we waited 20-25 minutes for nothing. The food is a western flare on a Japanese menu. All of the flavors were very timid as a result, with not much standing out over the course of the meal. That said the menu is quite large, giving a lot of options to choose from. It would be a great place for someone looking for an introduction into sushi, sashimi, and related dishes. Wind Japanese and Thai has two options for dine in; all you can eat for a fixed price or a la carte which is basically whatever you want as priced on the menu. There is a caveat, everything you don't finish you will be charged for and drinks are not included. You must make a decision before getting seated. We went with the all you can eat as suggested by our server since it was our first time. The process was pretty simple, there is a tablet on each table where you add whatever you want to your cart (there were photos with each option too) and once you're ready to submit your order, you flag down a waiter/waitress and the order is sent to the kitchen, and so on and so forth as much as you want. The table we were seated at initially had the brightest light, it was not very comfortable but our waiter was able to switch our table to a dimmer table. Once we were seated, we ordered some drinks and some apps to start. The drinks were good but my strawberry was old (as attached in the photo), it was not fresh so i did not eat it and it ruins the presentation of the drink, especially since it's not included in the all you can eat. The torched beef roll was delicious, we got it multiple times and so was the crab hand roll. Most of the food lacked much flavor like the Tobiko sushi and the yellowtail sashimi. A lot of the rolls i liked included avocado but almost all came without avocado until i had to run it by our server. Some of the food was missing things and a lot of it was not fresh, but i guess that's what you get at an all you can eat. The service was great, however. Shad was absolutely wonderful and considering it was our first time in Buffalo, he also gave us some advice as to where to go. All in all, customer service was wonderful but the food was not. I will say we didn't actually eat here but the service we received was absolutely horrible. In our party of 4 people we have a baby and an elderly woman using a cane. They finally sat us after a few minutes of waiting at the desk. It was a few hours to closing but still busy not a ton of table even open. But she sat us at a booth on the back wall, all the other tables were full around. Sat us showed menu and the server brought out water. Then hostess comes back and says we need to move. They are closing the section and they are going to move us. There was literally no other tables in that section open, how are they going to close it when they close in an hour and a half. The ambiance is modern, dark, and sleek. Techno music overhead, loud enough to drown out voices from the neighboring booths. A selling point is the novelty of two serving robots, called, "Bella" after their programming. Grandparents bring their grandkids for lunch here because of this, and the music causes far too much stimulation for the small customers. The Calornia Salad listed crab as an ingredient; it was chiffonaded surimi. My Princess of Fish roll had mango slices so hard, I thought they accidentally added carrots in with the salmon. Came to Wind for the first time tonight as we celebrated a birthday. The food was delicious and there was a large variety. We loved the shrimp tempura rolls, teriyaki, General Tso Chicken, Pad Thai and more. It took a minute to figure out ordering on the app! We were happy that we had people who had been to Wind before! The robot was fun but we didn't totally understand at first with the number and lights. Once we went through a few times we got it! Grab your food when it matches your check number and only from the lit shelf! We think it was tricky since we were a large party. All you can eat was a bit expensive but a fun experience. Adequate sushi joint in the midst of an area that doesn't really have exotic sushi (not even raw scallop..). This is a Canadian chain that offers an AYCE option (with the robots who deliver AYCE to your table... tempting to snatch some of the offering as it cruises by haha...). The sushi is a bit gringo (fake crab..) with a lot of "safe" sushi rolls.. but in suburban Buffalo this is a sweet spot. It's a very large space for a Sushi/Thai...and judging by the crowd they need ample space. Nothing really wowed me here...and I have my sushi joints in Buffalo that I usually go to when out here (Taisho is one..). The servers had to be reminded twice about an iced tea we never received and a plate that had a hair on it. Food was on the floor at the table. We noticed we didn't get several things we ordered. We asked and a server brought only 2 portions and we told them 4. Do yourself a favor a drive to a different sushi place. The staff was the worst I've ever experienced. I have never left a review anywhere before, but this experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. We were at the restaurant for over two hours, and after our server dropped off our drinks, she never returned to our table for the rest of the meal. We were only helped because we were visibly confused and sitting without service. Every other server in the restaurant stepped in except our actual server. Most of that help consisted of refilling waters, with the exception of one female server who genuinely took the time to assist us when I called her over regarding a food issue. One of the dishes I ordered arrived half freezing cold and half warm, as if it had been sitting out under a heat lamp for a long time. That same server kindly removed it and brought me a fresh, hot replacement, while also checking that everything else was okay. This was something our assigned server never did. After about an hour and a half, we finally saw our server back on the floor taking other tables. Even then, she still never came over to us, despite another thirty to forty five minutes passing. We eventually went to the manager to explain how frustrated we were with the service. We were told it must have been a miscommunication and were given a ten dollar voucher toward a future forty dollar bill, which did nothing to help in the moment. Our total bill was one hundred nine dollars for some of the worst service I have ever experienced. The only bright spot was the second waitress who came over after we spoke with the manager to apologize for the situation, even though it was not her fault in the slightest. I have worked in the service industry myself for over five years, and I cannot imagine leaving my own table unattended for over two hours. I called ahead to reserve a table but there was a bit of confusion when we arrived. After waiting about 10 minutes the host came over to us and said someone else should have sat us. After sitting we were explained the menu and process for ordering which is via an iPad. Food began to come out but for some reason it was being brought out by servers. I had to request the robot which is why we chose this place. After asking, our entrees were delivered by the robot which excited my 9 year old. Food was tasty.
