Our room was ready early and very welcoming upon arrival. Area is quiet and the grounds are very clean. Highly recommend these condos and will absolutely return. I was bummed because I thought our condo was on the river but we were on the opposite side. Next time I will call to make sure its on the river. Highly recommend Beaver Brook on the River!! We have traveled the world, and have never been spoken to in this matter. He is a jerk to say it in the nicest way possible. So I could go on and on, but I think you get the jest of our stay. - Unpleasant, uncomfortable, and truly not ADA accessible. (inaccessible road, hallways, shower) Needless to say, we won't be returning, recommending or boasting about our stay at Valhalla. Cabin #24 was below mediocre at best, and the customer service was downright disturbing (to say the least).

Secondly, the supply of hot water in the shower was inadequate; after the third person used it, there was no hot water remaining. Lastly, I attempted to contact the on-site managers and the emergency hotline but there was no one pick up the phone. We had a really bad stay here. Restaurant choices across the street. Cons: this place is TIRED. Everything is run-down and dingey from the raggedy bedspreads to the broken kitchenette drawers, to the shower handle that fell off when we went to turn it on. Outside lawn chairs were moldy and crusty - uninviting. Curtains were dusty with gnats stuck to them. The children's mini-playground area - which could've otherwise been such a nice touch - was littered with dog poo and other debris from apparently months of neglect. If the rental charge were more appropriate for this low-level of accommodation, like $75-$100, I might give more stars. But $200? Uh no.

The first time was 20 years ago and we loved it back then which is why we decided to go back. In the past I'd have given it 4 or even 5 stars. However.... Pros are the great location close to so many amenities such as restaurants and stores, very quaint appearance, dogs allowed, wood burning fireplace, parking right outside your unit's door, easy self check-in, and how quiet it is even though it's off a fairly busy street. This place has tons of potential. Cons are a general lack of maintenance including a broken bar in the sleeper sofa that didn't support any weight and collapsed, unusable very disgusting cooking pans, dirty oven, and a general lack of cleanliness. For example under the chair cushions were years of dust and a variety of objects like socks, loose change, hair ties, etc. Tons of dirt under the sofa and bed, the fireplace glass screen was so dirty you couldn't see the fire so we cleaned it ourselves, all the dishes were filthy, lots of loose hair in the bathroom, etc. You get the idea. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. We love rustic but these cottages cross the line into decrepit compared to other places we've stayed. They are in need of some refurbishment and replacement of furniture and household items.

When I tried to shower in the morning it was ice cold and never warmed up. I wanted a to-go coffee in the morning on the way to the park, but the coffee was lukewarm at best. Also, the outdoor trash cans were overflowing and the door to get inside was jammed multiple times. None of these were ideal when you're lugging around a lot of stuff and only have two hands. The hotel is surprisingly big with an indoor pool, a game room with multiple pool tables, and a few dedicated seating areas. They often get elk walking around the hotel, too. When I checked in, the gentleman who took care of me was extremely polite and helpful. I can't stress that enough! For close to $300/night it's hard to justify. Most things could've been better. It provided me with a clean, warm bed and at the end of the day, that's all a person can ask for.

I would have nothing negative to say about the property either way, but that the price is as attractive as it is, only serves to really reinforce stayability for every party, for every occasion. Breakfast is small but complimentary and was not expected. They have hard-boiled eggs for the health nutty traveler; which, if you plan to eat out anyways to maximize trying local offerings, as I tend to do, is still beneficial in that restaurants rarely give enough protein or protein per carb/fat. Not a mutually exclusive breakfast, it is a great supplement for the fitness enthusiast who all-too-often is belabored by inadequate nutrition while traveling. There are certain aspects of the rooms which may be a bit dated, but if observed closely, you will notice that it's a work in progress; I have no doubt the owner and staff are doing a great job, and they likely acquired the property in worse condition. Lastly, on the occasion I visited, I was blessed to see a herd of elk outside of my balcony the morning I woke up. My pictures do not adequately capture the size and splendor of the herd. We were only 1 mile away from the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was quiet here and we enjoyed watching Netflix as well as cable TV at night. Would definitely go back!

Not on the lake nor on the river, but close enough to both to hear the water rushing, and smell the breeze off the water! High up enough to see Osprey roosting, which happened to be the name of the cozy cabin we were in. Ultra modern and rustic at the same time. It made me fall in love with the blue of beetle-kill pine when finished. It had all the things you'd want in a room, microwave, 2 burner cook top, fridge, and sink. dishes, coffee maker, (and good coffee) The management was very friendly and accommodating, greeting us on check in by first name, and answering questions happily. The management was very helpful and stayed in touch with us right before our arrival. On our last night there we thought to pack the truck and get everything ready to head back home at 4am the next day. We got back from Denver pretty late that evening as it started to get dark. My husband and father loaded the truck with our luggage on our luggage rack on top of our SUV. It is pitch black at night in Aspen Brook. No problem for us we didn't want to inconvenience anyone, except that its rather difficult to load a truck in the dark. Our parking spot was not next to the home it was across the road, so my husband parked the car right next to the home to finish loading the truck and get some visibility with the porch light on. As we were finishing up management called me and told me we could not park there and I told her we were just finishing up loading the truck and would move it in a few minutes, she agreed and hung up. When I got off the phone I walked over to the porch and saw an older man standing next to our truck flashing a light into the windows of the truck. When I asked him if I could help him he yelled and said I couldn't park there to which I replied that we were almost done loading and would move it asap as soon as we were done and that we had just gotten a call from property management. He screamed "what if an ambulance needs to come by"!!!?? I repeated to him again that we were almost done and would move it soon and went back inside. I tried calling management back to ask who this man was, no answer. At that point I emailed property management. I said we had no problem with the call but was it really necessary for the older guy to come yell at us and on top of that snoop/shine his light into our truck??? Its a week later and never got a response from the email I sent to property management.
