My college age son took my car (Mercedes) in. I was charged $2800 for brakes. (My son approved the cost, not knowing that it was a ridiculous amount of money). The reason I went to Windermere instead of the dealer is because Windermere came highly recommended, turns out they charged double what another retailer would've charged and even more than the Mercedes dealer would've charged. My boyfriend tried to talk with them, asked how they could've charged so much. They said my college age son approved the cost and they had to get parts from Europe, tariff, etc., etc. I believe my son and I were taken advantage of. I don't recommend this business. read more

On Feb 23, 2026 I asked for an appointment to determine why my info system on my Mercedes e400 went blank. I am told by the shop manager that he got in and pressed the on button and the system then worked well. He says he also did an inspection and test drive. He found a bad tire and implied the front brake rotors were pulsating. I was given a quote for 2 new tires including a $250 wheel repair of about $1400. I also received a $1500 quote for front brake service for pads and rotors for my consideration. I was charged $193 for the visit. I decided to get another opinion since the Mercedes dealer gave the car a clean bill of health just 2500 miles earlier. I did have a bad tire. The wheel did not need repair. The brakes worked perfectly with no pulsation. Total (2) tire replacement including lifetime alignment $900. INfo system mystery remains but works fine. I believe the recommendations were way above what was needed and recommend everyone get a second opinion before accepting their quotes. read more

Went to their oil change location on airport-pulling road and the tech noticed a low tire with an air leak. So after the oil change I drove to the main location on Domestic to have the tire repaired. I was told that I would have to wait about an hour for them to get to it for repair. I had no problem since I drove in without an appointment. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I noticed how nice and professional they handled their customers. Well after about an hour the nice lady working the front called my name and apologized for me having to wait an hour. That the tech working on my tire could not find a leak !!-- that the whole problem was found when he put the valve stem cap back on and that is when he heard air coming out !! I had a bad valve stem cap !!! She apologized again and said "no charge" !!! I gave her some "cross Pennie's" I made for her young family. She just had another baby girl about a year ago. Had them do an alignment before on the car and completely have my steering wheel sideways and messed up my coil-overs while test driving the car under extreme conditions after I told them not to for specific reasons. sadly everyone have different experience, mine one was awful. Even when desk people was nice at first that change when they gave me back my car, went there for an AC job, that need a new evaporator, they fixed it and was cooling but with a hissing noise that never was there before , they blame it was because the AC hasn't been in use for about 9 months, so I left turn my car of and left the car park for two hours when I came out front light and brake lights were on, Thais when I realize my passenger seat cover had a big hole, and Glove compartment wasn't put together as it was from factory, brough it back and they said they didn't know if the seat was like that before, they wil ulposthery I told them it was in perfect condition but they making all kind assumptions, finally they say they will buy the cover which they didn't and just put afabric alike but no the one which looks awful they did fix glove compartment but when I pick my car back they didn't fix the noise they say it's a válvula that have to do with the car not having AC for 9 m9nths, and they sat they couldn't find the original covers , when I said it was their responsibilities the answer was they can't be responsible if it was the rats in their bussines that ate my seat cover, all these after a $3.900 dollars bill,, ah but they made sure I did pay for the original factory side mirrors I got hit with a tras can, I could had get a use part and get my friento fix but was honest enough to call and tell them about. A pleasant surprise. I walked in will with a slow leaking tire, no appointment and the place was wall-to-wall an I figured no chance. The service desk folks were polite and I told them the issue and my constraint - I had only 2 & 1/2 hours. They said no problem, we will be done an hour. I did not really believe them, but I was really out of options since so I sat down anyway and they took the car. After I sat down, noticed that every single person who came into that shop acted like, and was treated like a friend. And sure, enough 55 minutes later, my name got called, my car was done, tire fixed, and when it came time to pay, the bill came to $32 . My wife car's AC was not as cold as it should be so I sent her to Windermere Auto to get her freon checked. The counter man who she went to was mean and rude to her. She called me on her cell and ask me what to do. i said just get it done.She then waited quite a while and finally got freon added which did fix her problem. They charged her $167.00 ! I am posting this because for a fairly costly repair she should have been treat politely and made to feel comfortable! I used to really like this place. They were nice people and understanding. My last experience left a very sour taste In my mouth. Long story short. Needed the ac system drained, getting a new high pressure line made elsewhere , then refilling with them after. Mentioned the situation and we agreed it'd be ONE charge of $192.xx and I could come back for the completion of the job after the line was made. Awesome sounds good right ? Pick the car up after the recharging that was ALREADY PAID for expecting a few bucks for new o rings, nope. They charged me another 105 for the removing and replacing of the o rings. Mind you it's 2 12mm bolts that you can EASILY get to and remove in UNDER A MINUTE! They claimed they have to 'go by the book' and charge the 0.5 hours. If I knew that was the case I would've removed it myself, done the o rings, and put it back on and then have them recharge it but they probably still would've hit me with some hidden charge. Do it by the book? How about you have some decency as a human being. I've been coming to this shop for many years for the handful of times I've needed it. NEVER AGAIN ! read more

I will take my car here forever. I had a significant air conditioning issue that was difficult to solve. The car in question is a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with 177,000 miles on them all of which were in and around Chicago. After charging AC in Chicago and driving to Naples in August, we arrived with no AC. Windemere promptly charged the system with refrigerant and dye and all was fixed. Or so we thought. One day later there was no AC. Brought the car BACK in and they diagnosed the system completely. Two days later I picked up the car with a very frigid cabin, drove home and had no AC--ten minutes. Clearly there was something bizarre going on. Took it back to shop where the owner pledged this would get fixed and that I wouldn't be charged going forward for the repairs. They even arranged for a loaner car and at one point during the process the owner loaned me HIS car. Who does this? I'll tell you who--a business committed to doing things the right way for their customers and one that lives up to their promise. In the end they found a series of tiny leaks some, actually buried deep within the evaporator coils and some hidden behind the compressor. Five leaks in total!! I now have excellent AC and they have a customer for life. Every business, regardless of industry, should strive to do things the absolute right way for their customers. Windermere went above and beyond to repair my vehicle recently. First of all, I arrived after 6pm closing time, rushed through the door praying I could drop off my car. I was greeted with smiles and a calm demeanor from an associate. (I can't remember her name, but she was so, so kind.) I dropped my vehicle off and was assigned with Rodolfo. The following day, I received a very timely phone call from Rodolfo explaining that they had completed several tests on my vehicle, determined the issue, gave me a very reasonable quote for the repair (HALF the cost that the car dealership had quoted me the day before) and they completed the repair in the same day so I was able to pick up my vehicle by 3:00 in the afternoon. It ended up being a simple battery replacement instead of what I thought could be the alternator. They even provided me with a print out of the diagnostics completed on my vehicle without me even asking. I couldn't be more pleased with the kindness, honesty, professionalism, speed, and thoroughness of this company, and especially Rodolfo. When it feels like we live in a time where no one does their job correctly or passionately anymore, Windermere came through for me in so many ways and I am so grateful for this gem of a local business. I asked Michael if he could replace my headlights on my 1999 Camaro that I purchased aftermarket lights. He said yes, and so we agreed on a price. He said it won't take long. well I don't know if you people ever dealt with aftermarket parts, it can turn into a nightmare, and it did. It took Michael hours to adjust the headlights, not that he did anything wrong, it was just the poor quality of the headlights. Well, Michael got the low and high beams adjusted perfect. I came here to have my tire assembly redone and when I went to pick up my vehicle I noticed some paint chips on the front bumper, and that the bumper looked loose/not aligned. I went into the office to pay for my vehicle and I asked the worker if something happened to my vehicle. He went into the shop and came back out to tell me that someone backed into my car the evening before, but they the owner would take care of it out of pocket. He stated that they don't do body work there, but when I find a shop to let him know and he'll cover the cost. I took his word, and I came back when finding a repair shop of choice. He now is refusing to pay for anything and says that the car looks worse than it did. I am so upset that I didn't get a police report and took his word instead. He told me to claim it under my insurance because that's what I have it for. They did not call me immediately to tell my my vehicle was hit in their care, but instead left me having to ask.
