I recently had a loved passed away within the last week. We called Elvira at Windsor Mortuary to arrange for the services. She was very professional and courteous and guided us every step of way. John and Jessica did an excellent job at fixing my brother that he looked just the way he did before he's passing. John went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care off and show sympathy for our pain. You two went beyond the call of duty. Thank you Elvira for everything you did. I called to inquire about a simple cremation, and the indifference I encountered was unpleasant. The woman who answered sounded disinterested from the start, and when I said that we were not planning any services, her tone became even less helpful. She seemed annoyed when I couldn't find their pricing on their website, and her answers to my questions came across as patronizing. It just felt like I was bothering her. I took the cue, ended the call, and chose to look elsewhere. I'm writing this review because the call is still unsettling to me, many days later. I cannot even begin to express how impressed I was with the service and care my kids received from Elviara Morales for their dad's service. She was absolutely amazing! I had never interacted with a mortuary or crematory before, and honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. But WH Mortuary & Crematory set a standard of care and compassion that I didn't know was possible during such a painful time. While I don't live anywhere near them, if I ever found myself needing these services again, they would be my first choice--without hesitation. Though I was a complete stranger to them, the kindness and empathy I received felt more genuine and comforting than what I experienced from some of my own family. That's a difficult thing to admit, but it's the truth. I can't fully express how deeply grateful I am for the support I received. Elvira Morales, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. Her compassion, patience, and understanding helped guide me through the worst experience of my life. Bianca is great and she'd get a 5 star rating. Couple experiences we see could see improve. They supplied a person to get the guest book signed, but that person arrived 20 minutes before the service started and most of guest were already seated. The 2nd thing is get your own guest book and do not use the one they supply. The book didn't even have a place for the person's address. Shouldn't they know this is important??? This is the type of review you never want to have to make...but during some of our darkest days Meghan was the bright light that helped us through. She is so caring and thoughtful. My mother in law just passed without much warning. Her wish was to be cremated and Sutter hospice gave us a list of suggestions. My husband instantly felt the warmth when he called and spoke with Meghan. They took care of everything and the whole process although hard for our hearts was as easy as could be. She took care of all of our requests and even made some amazing suggestions herself. Our family is so thankful for all the love and support they provided for us. Thank you. I debated on whether or not this review should be written. Given the name of the business, I'm sure you can tell why. I am not a yelper, but those of you who knew my dad, he certainly was. After thought and encouragement from family and friends, here is a last review in honor of him. My writing will certainly not do him any justice, but I hope to channel him as I continue to write. We were recommended of this site through hospice given it's affordability. We were told by hospice two families originally owned the mortuary, but they decided to split ways which ended in the closure of this site for a period of time. I do also see that there is another page for this mortuary with some negative reviews. Not sure if this had any part in the closure, but as my dad often would say 'what's in the past is in the past, let bygones be bygones.' Given their reopening and affordability we decided to list this as the facility of choice when the time comes. My dad passed peacefully on a weekend with my mom at his side. Hospice made the call to Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary. We received a call from Meghan almost immediately. She was very professional and courteous and from that moment on she took care of us and helped us through this difficult time from start to finish. Turns out Meghan was the funeral director. We arranged to meet and discuss plans on the next business day. When that day came, both my mom and I had no idea what to expect. It was a little unnerving driving up to the eerily quiet building with an empty parking lot. It looked pretty... sorry to say, dead. I guess it's a good thing it wasn't busy, but maybe not so much from a business standpoint. Meghan greeted us as soon as we got to the door. To our surprise she looked nothing like the crypt keeper and was actually quite normal, pretty, and very sweet. We walked through the little waiting area that was nicely decorated and brought into a plain, but comfortable discussion room. We also met Tony who was Meghan's counterpart and we were offered something to drink (sadly no alcohol... jk). We informed Meghan of our wishes and she handled the rest. During this whole process, Meghan took care of us and my dad with the utmost respect. She was very responsive and prompt to all calls and emails and ensured we got what we asked for. On top of the excellent care we were given, the pricing was the most affordable compared to other mortuaries (pricing is usually listed on their websites). Lets just say we got to stay in the triple digits vs four or more! Prior to this, we had no idea how expensive this could actually get. All in all, we were very pleased with Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary. We hope to not need them again for a very VERY long time. If you were brought here because of my dad, thank you for being his supporter. As you know he loved writing, reviewing, and most certainly eating. It was a tough fight with pancreatic cancer and he fought well, but now he is finally at rest and at peace. Ha! I can only imagine what he'd say or think knowing that I wrote his last review on a mortuary. If you were brought here because you have lost a loved one, I am sorry for your loss. We felt we were well cared for here and do recommend this place should you be in the unfortunate situation of looking for an affordable mortuary/crematory. read more

OUTSTANDING CARE AND COMPASSION At a time when care and compassion are so important, Tony, Meghan and the loving staff gave 110% in every way possible. There aren't enough words or thanks to describe the devotion to the loved ones of the deceased and the deceased. My father was in good hands, no doubt...Tony called me after the cremation to let me know that Glen Miller's music was played, and that the words " Dad, you did everything right, Thank you from all of us," were spoken for my father. The down to earth loving nature of The Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary and Crematory is truly a gift to our community. My mother recently passed away and we wanted her to be cremated. We chose to work with Tony at Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary & Crematory. Tony was very professional, and he educated me on all the things that needed to be done. Tony was not my first call looking for services, but after I spoke with him, he was my last call. One of the main reasons I chose Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary & Crematory is because they do the cremations onsite at their facility in Windsor. The other companies I called transported your loved one to another town in the bay area or Sacramento, and then shipped the remains back to the local mortuary. I just did not like the idea of my mother being transported hours away from home, and I did not care for her remains being shipped back home via a carrier like UPS. Tony arranged for my mother to be picked up at her house and transported 15 miles to his facility. I then picked up her remains at Tony's office. At no point in time was my mother out of Tony's care, and that gave me peace of mind. Also, their price for cremations was very reasonable compared to the few others I called. Price was not the main factor in my decision, keeping my mother local is what was important for me. Everything went exactly as planned and I would highly recommend this organization. read more

Words cannot express the sadness and grief I felt when I received the tragic news that my brother suddenly passed away. I was so devastated that there were moments I literally could not breathe. To make matters more difficult, I now had to fly across country, from New York to California, to make arrangements to transport my brother's body back to his final resting place. I was overwhelmed to say the least and at times felt helpless. My emotions were finally put to ease when I started communicating with Tony Munoz at the Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary. My family and I are forever grateful for Tony and the staff and the way they handled every step of my brother's arrangements. I cannot thank Tony Munoz enough for everything he has done. Not only was he kind, respectful and professional, his knowledge of the process was very impressive. He communicated effectively with the family and the receiving funeral home in New York throughout the entire process. Tony was especially attentive to our needs, even with the 3 hour time difference, he always made himself available for our questions and concerns and answered us immediately. From the moment I walked into the establishment, we were made to feel welcomed. Tony brought me, my son and my other brother into a conference room to discuss the arrangements. Even though the viewing and funeral arrangements were going to be in New York, Tony did not rush us in any way. He was considerate and sat with us for a few hours and even wanted to know all about my brother. I felt like he genuinely cared. Tony went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly; starting with picking up my brother's body from the Coroner's office, meeting with my family personally to discuss preparing the body, and even personally transporting my brother 65 miles from Windsor to San Francisco Airport. I later found out Delta airlines had made a mix up with the flight, and Tony waited at the airport for an additional 5 hours to make sure my brother was put on the correct flight. I felt comfort knowing my brother was in Tony's care the entire time. I highly recommend Tony Munoz and the Windsor Healdsburg Mortuary. When my family was in need they made an emotional experience a pleasant one. read more

My sister-in-law in Lucerne lost her husband to brain cancer all too suddenly. Windsor Healdsburg was sensitive, helpful, quick, and efficient. My sister-in-law was relieved from any additional trauma by the deft handling of the situation by Windsor Healdsburg's people. They were there after the death within 2 hours for the body, and made possible a small chapel service with the body, without all the expense and bother of an open-coffin viewing. They had lots of options and were flexible in offering a variety of service levels from which to choose, that made it easier for my sister-in-law to bear.
