I called Harltey Window Coverings looking for help with a broken electric skylight cover. I explained that the cover was installed by PJ Canvas in Napa about 10 or 15 years ago. PJ is now retired and not working on any installations. I was looking to have this unit repaired or replaced, and I was told by the woman answering the phone that they would not help as they were worried about "touching something they did not install and being held libel for warrantee work". I again said it was 10 to 15 years old and warrantee work was not an issue. She continued to tell me that if I want a new one, they would come out for free, but they would not come out to look at the unit unless I wanted to buy a new one. She then suggested I climb on the roof (at 77 years old I am not in a hurry to do that) and try to figure out who the manufacture was, then call the manufacturer and see if they could find a Window Covering repair shop. Bottom line, this is not a helpful company and not repair service, no help unless you want a new unit without knowing what is wrong with the old one. read more

These folks have great products! My husband and I just had them install exterior and interior blinds in our home. The exterior blinds we chose because we wanted to maintain the clean interior lines of our mid-century home, but we needed protection from the sun. The blinds also offer excellent privacy even though we can see outside clearly and can still enjoy our views. We can lay in our bed, with the sleek little remote and open and close them as needed. Very space age, super cool. The blinds can handle the elements, and the recent storms and winds were not an issue at all. Also installed was interior blinds to an extra bedroom. These windows swing outwards, not always a good choice for exterior blinds. But we wanted black out blinds in this room anyway. Battery operated to last 5 years, sleek, extremely quiet and with a very low footprint, these new blinds disappear into the window sash. Again it comes with a remote, lots of options for how much you want them opened or closed. You can also adjust them by hand if you choose. Great people to work with. Mike and Ann know their products well and are professional and capable. They were great with follow up, and installation happened in the time frame they promised. We have used Hartley Window Coverings twice. We got these beautiful long Hunter Douglas shades for the sliding glass door going outside. They had a left pull. Amazing high quality Ann was fantastic coming out to advise us and give us tons of choices, working with us until we finally decided.The staff was courteous and professional with the installation.( on time, too!) We loved them. Obviously the quality was amazing until our puppy decided to munch on them when we were gone one night. Needless to say we needed to replace them about 2 years later. This time with a less expensive version, just in case ... still great quality fantastic service... we will definitely be using Hartley for future window coverings. read more

Sadly, Hartley has hit the skids. In the past, they did wonderful work. I had window covering installed by them throughout my home. Now, I need some removed so I can paint my walls. They said that they dont want to do that kind of job but if I needed anything else to please call them. I am very disappointed that when I had a big installation job, they were happy to help, but now its a small job and I cant get them to service their work. Sara at Hartley is extremely pleasant and polite. If you want to do business with a company that won't provide service after the product is installed, Hartley may be good for you. BUT, if you want service, this is NOT the company to call! read more

I'm an interior designer and they just quoted me $450.00 to hang one single window rod on a window that's 8' long x 86" high. Ridiculous! That's about 4x more than anyone else would charge. Hate to see what they charge for anything else. Definitely never getting my business. read more
