My father's stay was a nightmare, (he had spent a week in the hospital for a blood infection). The bathroom next to his room flooded and did not get fixed for over a day. He did not feel cared for or seen by the staff on a regular basis. There was always something more " time sensitive" that needed attention. When he went home he needed strong antibiotics. I called CVS 3 times since he arrived home-no prescriptions called in. Called the nursing staff-said that they sent it in. Was "in CVS's hands". Long story short: apparently CVS needs a digital request sent in and the nurses would only send it by fax. NURSES REFUSED TO SEND IN ELECTRONICALLY OR TALK TO CVS ON OUR BEHALF. The next morning, 14 HOURS WITH NO ANTIBIOTICS, thankfully I remembered the social worker on site. Called her (an Angel on Earth!), told her what was happening. Within an hour she had my father's antibiotics being filled at CVS. She apologized for the hardships caused us on their behalf. Never had a follow-up call from the nurses. I would NEVER recommend them for any type of care, for young or old alike. read more

Wanted to give a review on how grateful I am to the staff at Windsor. They took good care of my mother for almost a decade and even in her last days as she battled stage 4 Liver Cancer. Special thanks to Christine at the front desk, she was always so kind and welcoming. I don't know if I trust the ratings on yelp... others posted about Windsor, we have a family member who at 74 fell out of bed ... had to go to the ER at community hospital ... the staff did X-rays and called in Dr Pitta to do the surgery... Then after a 3 days she would need to go to rehab hospital. The discharge team gave us 3 names of places she could go..one was Windsor ... called a few people I knew in the working in this business... they both said that for what she needed over a few days Windsor would be the one that they would send a family member. We told the discharge team our choice was Windsor. With in an hour or so the transfer team picked her up and we followed them for a short ride to Windsor. By the time we parked they had her in her room with the waiting staff. What I could not believe was the staff was so kind in everything thing they need to do with a new patient on intake. I was so impressed on how they interacted with her. Talking to her, explaining what they were doing each time. They made her feel at ease.. in setting in. After her needs were fulfilled they then turned to us and reviewed her medical history not just the physical operation but all of her issues she has had over the years. How was she prior to the fall and surgery. What did she like to eat.. ect and medication review from the hospital. It was so amazing that they are so kind and solicitous saying call us ect. Any time. I have had several call from in the following days... the dietician for the care center called to go over her what she liked to eat... want to make sure she gets food and snacks...he said we want to make sure she gain back her weight... all I see is the staff member are wonderful... interested in each patient.. walking, or in a wheelchair down the hall ...everyone has smiles and you can tell that they want to care for each and everyone ... the quality of care is visible in their interaction and personal care even when they don't think anyone is watching . She is now alert and eager to eat her dinner relishing every thing on her plate... everything is looking up Thanks to the staff angels on the skyline An answer to our prayers read more

I had a great experience here at Windsor with Daniela Ortiz. I had a client who was needing to go to a skilled after a short stay at the hospital. The client was very resistant to a "nursing home" setting. After meeting with Daniela the family was comfortable with the next steps. I don't normally leave reviews but I feel Windsor is being unfairly characterized. I don't know how the facility was ran previously but since my mother-in-law was admitted several weeks ago it is under new ownership/management. They are doing a "make-over" on the facility and improving the overall feel of the care center. We had toured many in Salinas and we found them to be filthy and the environment stale to put it mildly. We are here daily to visit our family member (my husband staying approximately 8-9 hours daily. ) and all we have witnessed is loving staff who work hard and have been extremely responsive to the needs of our loved one. They have shown extreme patience for those that have different needs and they try their best showing pleasantries and smiling faces. We appreciate all the staff that are willing to commit to an environment that at times can be sad as many of the patients don't get visitors. I have witnessed the staff step in to provide the companionship to brighten the patients day even when they are busy juggling a heavy work load. This environment isn't for everyone but I have seen loving and engaging conversations between staff/patients. Windsor provides daily activities for the patients like karaoke, bingo and so much more to stimulate the minds of the residents. Kudos to them for doing their absolute best and providing a much needed service to our community. read more

Honestly i wish i could give zero stars!!! Do not and i repeat do not let your loved ones come here at all. The lack of communication & detail to the patients that come here is sad. My father was just recently there to get good care for rehab and honestly he left worse. I had to beg them to do their job as far as this being a quote on quote "rehabilitation center". It seemed the people there were only in it for a check & not in it to make sure the patients there get the help they need. This place needs to not be CLOSED IMMEDIATELY & INDEFINITELY!! My Mom is a 'short-termer' here which is good because it's very hard to reach her in the evening. The residents aren't allowed phone service in the room so you have to call one of the cordless phones and hope one of the workers answers... If your lucky enough and one does they will take the cordless to the resident ( your mom, Dad, sister, brother ,etc) so you can speak with them to see how their day went. This is the second review I have written on this place I can not find my first review. My mom had a horrible experience there. Co-vid is no excuse for the medieval neglect and isolation she when though. They gave her dementia medication and she has never been diagnosed. I could never get a hold of anyone after leaving messages with my call back number sometimes once a day, I tried faxing and email with no better results. I finally got a call back after threatening to have the police do a welfare check. Twice when they were allowing window visits I had made appointments that they canceled upon my arrival which I showed up 10 minutes early for. Since I picked her up she has never been the same. I wish I had tried to keep her at home and gotten physical therapy some other way. read more

Worst Facility I've ever been too, rude staff, and management is more worried about money than there residents!!! Wouldn't put my animal in or even around these people or facility!!! Worse than that they ignore call bells and residents requests for help!!! read more

I would not want my family members here. The care the patients get is not fair...some get more attention then others and some are just left in wheelchairs all day. The cnas are always chatting together and on their phones, totally unprofessional. The staff is also rude. I would not feel comfortable having anyone I love in there read more

My partner had a very bad experience here when he left Chomp he was assured that his medications would continue as they had at the hospital when he got to this home they did not have his medications they had to give him something else that they had on hand and it did not help with his pain at all so he had to take an ambulance back to Monterey Peninsula Hospital and get pain meds he then came back to this facility and his pain meds did not arrive until 8 the next morning. In the morning when they served him breakfast it consisted of a cold roll a slice of cheese and a piece of bacon which none of it was very nutritional and he did not eat it. He was supposed to receive his pain medication every 4 hours and when it was due later in the day around 4 he had asked for it and it was only 5 minutes early and his nurse would not give it to him so he did not receive it until an hour late and when he told her that he needed it she snipped at him and said that there were other people ahead of him that she needed to take care of first. This was his first evening and first day at the facility by the end of that day he wanted to come home! He was very upset with the facility and their lack of care for their patients. Therefore I would not recommend this place to anyone that you care about. Find a better place for your loved ones. read more

A few years ago when Javier was the admin the place was better although there were sone issues but he addressed them. This is the only SNIF I was able to stay at twice for a week or so each time. But last time, the first night I was put into a room with a woman who screamed all night. Nice lady, we became friends BUT I NEEDED TO SLEEP. I stayed in the lobby until 3 am when a kind nurse put me in another room. The next day another kind nurse told me about an opening in another room. There I was able to stay with a very compatible roommate for a week or so. But suddenly the admin came and told us they had to renovate the room. They moved us. I had no other good options and was worried about my dog so I left on good terms. Compared to other places I've been to this is better but the other places were horrific, broken beds, 5 people in a tiny room and no real care. At least here, I did get physical therapy and meds. read more

You never want to put any loved one in this place, short or long term. They are understaffed and overwhelmed- this is basically a warehouse for the elderly. My mom fell and broke her hip- I had to be constantly vigilant about her meds because they weren't being administered on time or at all, She is blind and can't self feed, but when she asked for water they just left a pitcher and glass and took off- almost dehydrated her as a result. Very little Spanish speaking staff, mostly housekeepers so she couldn't communicate effectively (which, since she is blind, is an ADA violation). And forget about getting anyone to the room- when I pulled the bed alarm to see what the response would be to her trying to get up and potentially falling, it took 16 minutes for anyone to respond- a danger should she have been alone- and the hallway looked like a Christmas tree, all lit up with seniors needing help and few nurses to give it.
