This is a fallow up of the previous review I did for Heartland Hospice…read more I had called them to pick up their equipment (an oxygen concentrator and a walker) on Monday because I was never admitted as a patient since I ended up in the hospital. They had delivered this equipment right after I had spoken to someone about becoming a patient. I can't believe they even sent me this equipment since I wasn't formally a patient! It is now Friday and the driver who picked up the equipment on Monday forgot the walker and it is still on my porch! Also when I called on Monday the woman I spoke to was very upset with me saying I kept refusing service, three times. I told her to read my Yelp review because it explained that I only refused once when a man wanted to come out to see me on Saturday. I was never asked if I preferred males or females. So he told me a female nurse would call me Sunday and she never did. Then on Monday when a female nurse did come out to do the intake, I told her I had to go to the hospital because I thought I had broken a bone in my foot. The pain was excruciating and I could hardly walk. The nurse told me if I go to the hospital then I can't be a patient of Hospice. Since I needed an x-ray of my foot, I went to the hospital. This is why I was never a patient and it explains why I refused their services only once. If you call that refusing! The bottom line is I cannot recommend this company!

She felt that they should have been providing care to her, which was not their job and was extremely resentful of them most of the time. My brother and sister-in-law are difficult to deal with and I do genuinely appreciate the patience and consideration of the Hospice staff. Apparently, after asking me to contact his health care providers regarding his care, he would turn around and remove me from the approved guest list. I am revising my earlier reward and updating my rating for VNA Hospice to a 5/5 stars for their patience and understanding.

Ruben the patient Coordinator in the office was working a night shift and my patients oxygen machine part broke I called and the answering service connected me to him after 8pm and he delivered the part to my clients home. That is service! I will always refer my clients family to pick VNA for their home care and hospice needs. Thank you for all you people do. Ohhh Michael the supply person is so awesome as well in getting orders sent out.

When I first started working with them, they were providing about 40 hours a week of companion type care for my dad and then transitioned into 24 hour a day care for the last few months. I know that Julie must be a good manager because every caregiver she sent to our home was amazing. And I know it takes a good person at the top to have so many good employees. Julie was constantly involved and checking in as well. She made me feel like I was her only client when I know that is the furthest from the truth. In addition to providing so much caregiver support, Julie was also a wealth of knowledge and connections, constantly making insightful suggestions. She was someone to call when my dad had to go to the hospital, and she was instrumental in connecting me with other resources as needs arose. I don't know how I would have gotten through the last 2 years without the team at Halo - they were one bright spot in a really difficult time. I wholeheartedly recommend Halo to anyone in need of reliable, compassionate, and the highest quality home health services.

Some residents get excellent care while others are all but ignored. The administration is inexperienced and lacks management skills. The food is awful with some of the worst tasting and poorly prepared food I've ever tasted. No attention is paid to balanced meals or special needs diets. Laundry service is an absolute joke. If someone can be found to wash clothes or bedding, it may take 24 hours or more to have it returned. The longer it takes to be returned the more likely it will be lost. Clothing will quickly deteriorate because no attention is paid to separating colored from whites and high heat is used to dry everything. On the bright side, the campus is beautiful, cleaning is skillfully handled, and there is an engaged activities director. Residents are friendly and easy to get to know.

The food is good, the atmosphere is relaxed and positive, and the staff is very helpful and kind. The old owners did their best but the new owners are so much better! Kay has helped me solve some difficult problems with his case that have come up recently. I appreciate the new owners and can see a huge difference in the care.
