Ok ok ok people I'm back to write another review. And for those of you who have read my reviews you all know I DO NOT DO THIS VERY OFTEN SO IF I WRITE A REVIEW YALL KNOW YALL SHOULD PAY ATTENTION. I got an inside tip from a buddy of mine to take my vehicle to John Owner of this establishment and of course I did. And let me tell you I was VERY VERY HAPPY I DID SO. I own a 2007 Toyota Avalon XLS and needed a major tune-up and my alternator replace along with flushing transmission fluid. I was able to buy and bring my own parts and was charged SUCH A FANTASTIC PRICE I HAD TO GIVE JOHN AND MR. CHANG A HUGE TIP. John is the coolest, most honest mechanic I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE. I came for a maintenance repair out of a referral from a friend. I was hopeful this would be my go-to mechanic shop especially considering the rave reviews. But my interactions with John the owner were a bit abrasive. I tried chatting with him regarding the job and the cost breakdown. He seemed particularly irritated at the latter question and asked me sarcastically if I brought my own supplies to do the job. I said I'd be okay to do it here and he agreed in a huff. Tom the mechanic was the one who did the repair and he was quick, efficient, and friendlier, even offering me a chair as I waited. In the end, I asked if I could come back to do future repairs if needed and John muttered to Tom to tell me, that they can't do other repairs with my specific car. This left me with a weird feeling and wondering why John couldn't tell me directly. The prices are fair but I wish there was slightly friendlier service. I suppose it can be a hit or miss depending on John's mood. read more

I literally only got 8 words out of my mouth before "John" cut me off and rudely told me he couldn't tell me "if" he could do the work I was looking for. Apparently, I needed to make an appointment so he could assess it. Work is pretty straight forward, catalytic converter replacement, and my insurance is paying for it. I have been coming here for more than 25 years with several different cars and the owner (John) has always been honest and fair on the repairs. I just brought in my car on Tuesday 7/18/17 to check why my engine light came on and then turned off, as well as for a tune-up. John told me that my #4 ignition coil mis-fired. Instead of telling me I have to replace all four of them, he only recommended to replace one. His price is fair, he never suggests unnecessary repairs and I highly recommend his services. Called Windsor Square Auto Service and talked to John on the phone about an issue with my car. I had changed out a bad battery in March, then it was due for a smog test. Couldn't do the smog test as the vehicle had not completed its OBDII (On Board Diagnostics level 2) self test for the catalytic convertor. He could of told me to come in and charge me for a diagnostic 5 gas analyzer to test the exhaust to see if the convertor was bad. But he didn't, explaining to me that if there's no check engine light on or stored codes from the past, then the convertor is probably ok. Just have to keep driving the vehicle between 55 and 65 when possible with an easy foot on the gas peddle. I, myself, have been a heavy duty journeyman diesel mechanic for over 40 years, but this type of testing and repair is beyond my capabilities, as in the equipment required to test for a bad catalytic convertor. If I need a good gas mechanic in the future, I will most likely go and see John. I found his repair facility from a referral on the Nextdoor.com website. read more

Great place! I recently brought in my Honda for a transmission fluid change and brake system flush. When I came in, I thought I needed to do a bunch of other random things, but John is very clear about what actually needs to be done. He doesn't try and sell you on unnecessary work. He even told me what items on my list I didn't need to do at this time. That level of honesty is rare to find in an auto service shop. John is very friendly and professional. On top of all this, he delivers on time! He told me he'd have my car ready by 11am, and he called me at 10:45am to let me know my car was ready! This place is an excellent place to get a tune up or to get smog tests done. They all seem to be really honest guys here and they are always working on cars so they must be doing something right. What am I thankful for? That last night when my truck broke down, I was able to nurse it home safely. That today my mechanic at Windsor Square Auto Repair John Yu, had room to look at my truck this morning. That it was in fact the VSS Sensor and that John was able to determine which of 3 sensors it was on the first try. That I happened to have the cash to get it fixed, and I am now back on the road. this man John is a crook who performs half ass repairs that dont last! Then when i brought my vehicle back he called me a liar. My wife brought her honda in to repair the trunk latch, a week later the trunk wouldnt shut, he then accused my wife of slamming the trunk which she doesnt even use.I brought my classic cadillac in to replace a gasket & he didnt cover the area he was working on scratching my car down to the metal which he again denies, this car didnt have a scratch on it & he knows it! I also had a problem once with my other car which he said i needed a sensor which cost me$700 & did nothing & i still have the same problem, his response oh well i did the work. so $700 down the drain?
