I was really optimistic going into Windward, but all of their website photos are deceiving. Their employee who picked me up from the airport was (allegedly) hitting a dab pen and took me to what I was told over the phone would be a "thorough intake process" was really a breathalyzer and UA. The person doing my "intake" asked me which program I was here for - I told him nobody told me and shouldn't he know?? The admissions person I spoke with over the phone said I would have "chef made meals". I was dropped off at a Vons with a $75 gift card to buy groceries for the week. As someone with a dual diagnosis, this was incredibly misleading and resulted in me not eating for 24 hours. The same admissions person said "the home i would be in would have shared rooms, but plenty of bathrooms". I arrived to the house which had 1 bathroom shared among 7 women. Sadly my time here only lasted 18 hours due to the fact that what was described to me over the phone was the exact opposite of what i walked into. Don't waste your time here. "House manager" or any WWR employee was not at the home I was assigned to when I arrived. It was 4 hours later that she showed up and was using her vape as a pointer while showing me the house rules. years later I am still getting calls to pay more money. but when youre in that office sick and in need of help and you muster up the energy to ask, "are you out of network?" they will look you dead in the eye, after just giving a class on integrity, after just feigning sympathy for an instructor who recently passed away and the cause of death is unknown still but they just couldn't help announcing to everyone that this counselor over-dosed when the coroner on the east coast where the counselor was at the time hasnt even published anything about it. so eager to use recovery to manipulate people its gross. yes a side effect of their ego boost is some people do get better for a while. but im still going to call it like I saw it. the culture of the staff there is aimless and does not have a good leader. so anyway while this person is preaching integrity they will lie and tell you not to worry about it and just sign or if they're smart they might do the whole "oh you should read it before you sign" and "take your time and think about it" without providing any kind of information or other options and they know youll sign its just a matter of getting you to do it without upsetting you. its gas lighting a sick person who has no other options. jokes on them though theres a really good rehab called lucid in oceanside. After 9 rehabs I thought they were all the same honorable mention to ryan out at CRC you individually are top tier CRC would be number 1 but that just shows how unbelievable Lucid was for me. I actually felt like I wasn't being treated like a child there. the counselors are legendary the houses are dope the food is home cooked and the clients a lot are Native American so thats rad. they have a music recording class yoga... anyway windward gay recovery sucks ... like blood suckers literally. also body brokering happens there. and they are responsible for the death of my friend Puff and to this day I have not heard a single explanation or anything so do not trust then with your loved ones. They don't test for 7-hydroxy/kratom. My husband was able to get away with getting loaded for 2 months under everyone's nose until I had to come to the center, investigate on my own and discover the truth myself. Red eyes, slow movements, different behavior, NONE OF THEM could tell nor were suspicious... or they did not care enough. This place is also coed so it's hard for people to focus. Honestly, my husband said they repeat the same groups over and over and he lost touch after some time. The Case Manager he had, Shaun, was very unprofessional and would call me every time he went missing, and I had to do their jobs for them and locate him. What were we even paying them for? When things like this happen that's when the case manager decided to give me progress reports and all of a sudden he told me that my husband was leaving groups, sleeping in his car. Shaun hadn't mentioned anything of the sort to me prior until something came up, which is deceiving because I was under the impression that he was attending all groups and all was well, and why was I just hearing about this now? I don't feel like I was ever fully informed of what was going on, I was left to discover rather than be provided disclosure by not only my husband, but staff too. As a family member, this place gave me a headache and anxiety. No true ease or comfort. The case manager also told me to "relax" a few times, as if he knew me. I had to check him and let him know he was crossing a line with that... I found that very disrespectful. When my husband and I would get together and speak of our individual conversations with this Case Manager, we found it to be very two-faced and as if he were playing both sides. I don't want to be too hard on this place or Shaun as I do not think he is a bad person and he was still supportive, but things could have just been better... I will say, that their detox is pretty good along with their residential, but I would definitely not recommend PHP, IOP or sober living here, that's where all the problems begin. My husband's Sober Living House Manager also was a nut case, and although he was kind enough to let my husband sleep at home with his family from time to time, he was always complaining about his ex-wife and his custody battles. I'm six months pregnant and he told my husband that "women just use men to give them babies and that it wouldn't be any different for my husband as an expecting father." Are you kidding me? It was just beyond inappropriate, considering our circumstances. Total deflection and so very unsupportive to our cause... and that's what I can say about this treatment center is they need stricter rules, better drug tests, more training for staff and all around just need to be more professional. I recommended my husband get on disability to help pay our bills. They helped him with that, thank god. Adam, the director (probably the best part about Winward) was a very kind and helpful man and he really showed up for us in dark times, but other than that, we would not come here again, I found a different place for my husband and we both mutually agreed to relocate. In my opinion, I don't think I can ever trust my husband in their hands again moving forward, wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend this place due to our experiences. They have good intentions, I just expected a lot more and although I appreciate all that they've tried to do, there is definitely better out there. Winward requires great change for reconsideration. This place has such a great environment and staff, including Gerald, Andria, Garry and Kenia which my whole care team. I am truly blessed and grateful i had the opportunity to go through my recovery here and have the best support. The residential and detox process was so welcoming and made me feel safe. I am currently 96 days clean and i cannot wait to have many more days to come and it's all thanks to Windward Way Recovery. The facility staff give such good groups and advice. I am so grateful for Tony, Yvette and Paul. I couldn't have gone through it without them as well. I am going to miss this place so much. The Techs at the house always make sure you are well taken care of. Doniel and Eric have made such an impact on my journey. I have nothing to say about the quality of this facility. However, I have been trying to reach someone at this facility for days and can't. I have left message after message, I've talked to their corporate offices (Zinnea Health) multiple times where I'm told a supervisor will call me back. Nothing, no call back. It's been 4 days of trying to speak to a live body at this facility and have literally just being given the run around. No one answers any of the 3 numbers given to me by Zinnea, no one returns voicemails, plus the number on the website goes to Zinnea where they just tell me to call back during business hours, even though I've been calling during business hours for days. I'm pretty sure this is a good indication of the level of support you'll receive for your loved one if they are sent there. read more

My daughter went into this Home and the overseers were awful. They are uncaring, insensitive. They pretent to be God driven, yet completely deceptive and unkind to children. They lack empathy for the community that they are serving. The leaders cause many to leave before completing the program and their completion rate is quite poor. When you meet with the higher up hierarchy nothing is resolved and they kick women out with no write ups no warning and for things as petty as their kids wetting themselves, or doing normal kid behavior things. I would not recommend anyone to the waychurch home ever. The church itself is great. The home is awful!!!! My cousins have went their and again awful. I know several people who regret going. Victory Outreach homes are much more sincere. This home gets 0 stars in my book. It should be shut down immediately. They steal your foodstamps and make you lie about using them on the home as well as the lies they force you to tell lies to the county office about paying them rent. read more

Before he left I was told I'd be completely part of his treatment and can call anytime since I'm the emergency contact. Last week I was hung up on 3 times, and given the wrong phone number three times. One number I gave just rings and rings. Per his care nurses and therapists DO NOT TAKE CALLS OR MAKE CALLS TO KEEP FAMILIES INFORMED . You will only be able to speak to you loved one once a week with a ZINNIA CARE COORDINATOR. Never EVER A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL OR THERAPIST OFFERING DIRECT CARE. Just someone to shut you up and keep you placated. but who knows at this point?? I have NEVER heard of a facility where the MEDICAL STAFF does not take calls from wives of patients. NOT ONE CALL THE ENTIRE TIME HE IS THERE!!!! What kind of facility leaves the family completely in the dark and just has a care tell you he's fine! But ONLY Monday through Friday. So if thee is a problem you will NEVER KNOW!! If you have anxiety about your family member you CANT CALL!!! The only number you will have is for zinnia health which are the sales people. The sales people are the ones who hung up on me and gave me wrong numbers while I was crying from anxiety. For four hours. I'm starting to think this whole thing is sketchy after reading true reviews. Look how many reviews in a couple weeks. RIGHT AFTER THE MEGATIVE REVIEW!! They also made him, while in CRISIS, wait till the next day alone, get to the airport alone, get on the plane alone.... A person who is in crisis, alone to fester in their mind. Trying to be nice. Went 2 years ago - Longbeach was awful. I WOULD have stayed at the Hilton, in LA for $800 nt suite w/an Uber included to take me back and forth daily!!! I was stuck in the cinder block backyard of a townhouse (can't get in the pool - 2nd place didn't have a pool - look at the pictures closely), than share with 12 complete strangers, $75 food card FOR THE WEEK. (60 min Saturday trip to the store - if you sign up early.) Oh, they might stop by the 7/11 or Circle K after the nightly crammed van ride to the AA mtg, MAYBE. (Yes, I was charged $800 DAY WITH A ROOMMATE.) The place is NOTHING like the pictures!!!! Bring your own bedding, or at least wash the 10 year old Walmart blanket every other person used. Bring a cup, plate, 1 fork, spoon and knife. (For your own sanitation purposes.). Bonus - YOU (all the girls) are required to CLEAN the entire place whenever they say, "surprise visit from Corporate today", about every 3rd day. (They actually mean potential investors to join their get-rich-quick SCHEME.). Yeah....no janitorial AT ALL, it's all you.) The doors were UNLOCKED 24/7 - no security; (male employee came through after midnight - night staff was on the couch sleeping.). I was told I was going home, with "exception" (and 1 hour notice), after 26 days because 'my insurance would not approve' - not true, they approved an additional 20 days. (LIES!!). HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION WITH MANAGEMENT - stay on top of your bill, and be very careful - whenever you talk to somebody, your getting charged. (Ever think to look up the credentials and longevity of the staff??) Speaks for itself. SO, if your looking for a nice walk anywhere on a trail, fresh air, cleanliness, and healthy food prepared for you.......KEEP LOOKING. AND IF don't want to be in debt, (they don't tell you you've raked up over 16k out of pocket when they kick you out), I'd keep looking. At least go somewhere you don't have to clean up, you can eat healthy, breathe fresh air, RELAX and not be treated like a kid with chores while mommy and daddy build their new mansion. read more

This is not a good place to get help. You should consider that they are not professional and ethical people. I am a family member of a patient, we were told that we were accepted and then started driving to the place and then they say the patient need to go to a different place. Poor support from not well trained admitting counselor. No patience to client undergoing anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. Bad attitude and no sympathy for clients struggling to cope alcohol addiction. Honestly, this place did very little but lie to me. I asked what the cost would be before I went, and they said about $500. When I was checking out, it was $1500 because of the meds I needed (which were just the basic detox meds, which it was OBVIOUS I'd need). What's worse, I went there for a phenibut detox. If you've never heard of it, don't worry, neither had they! Yet, they still assured me I could safely and comfortably detox there. Phenibut stimulates the gabba receptors, just like booze, so they put me on a booze detox regimen. However, phenibut is closer to a benzo, n a booze detox regimen doesn't work much at all. I've gone through full-blown DTs and heroin withdrawal, and nothing has come even close to as miserable and traumatizing as detoxing from phenibut the way they did it (4 days of tapered meds). At the end of a 12+ hour panic attack the morning of day 4, I wound up screaming at my "doctor" that he had no idea what he was doing. He blew me off, clearly looking at me as a "lesser-than" drug addict. He then asked me what research I'd done. I said "a lot, and none of the sources I've found suggest this method of detox." He literally laughed at me and asked where I'd learned to research with a smirk. When I informed him that I was a second year law student at a good school (oh, he literally made me show him my student portal) his entire attitude changed. He asked me to show him what I'd found, and I did. When he read the multiple abstracts I found him, he just got quiet. That POS knew that I knew that he hadn't taken more than a minute or two to research the proper way to detox from a drug he admitted he'd literally never even heard of. I should have immediately sued him for malpractice and negligent or intentional infliction of emotional distress, but I was just so happy to get out of there a day early (oh yeah, he tried to tell me I needed another 24 hours when I knew I didn't. When I fought back, he didn't even try to medically advise me to stay. That's important because my insurance would've been furious if I'd left against medical advice. He wanted me out of there as fast as possible. I actually called the center the day after I left because I was thinking of suing. The "doctor" was off for a couple weeks literally right as I left, and the staff just said they couldn't tell me his name. I don't blame the staff. They're all a bunch of ex-addicts doing their best. But there's clearly a culture of exploitation here. They just want your insurance money. I roomed with a guy detoxing from heroin my first night. On the day I left, he was being discharged from inpatient like he'd completed a program. That was truly disturbing to me. This was all during covid, so maybe I just got unlucky and they're better now, but after going through 3 different detox centers over the last 11 years, this was easily the worst. Oh, and they put me on a monthly payment plan, then never once sent me a bill throughout the next year +. Then, after receiving no notification, they demanded the whole bill be paid in full. In short, this place was awful because their doctor didn't treat me like a person until I scared him and the staff was incompetent during my stay and after in regard to billing. read more

Overall, I think it is a well organized and a good rehab for most. For me being a Christian it was not good fit for me. They did say that they would take me to church on Sunday, which I appreciated, but for the rest of the week when you're surrounded by people or a person that has no respect you or your feelings, I felt constantly bombarded by gangbanging music and every other word that came out of their mouth was foul. It was not something I could just tune-out. Then finding out contacting family was not something that I would be able to do on a regular basis, I wanted to leave. Then having to share two refrigerators with six women and broken shelves and no side door bar to hold juice from sliding off or baking dishes to cook in made me feel not cared for. One of the things I struggle with is asking for help or wants/needs. So it is possible that if I asked if they had tinfoil or parchment paper to put down on the dirty cookie baking sheet, they might've had it, but I didn't know to even ask for it I don't consider myself high maintenance, but I am a professional and expect for the price that they're getting for each person to have the basics in the kitchen if you're gonna have to cook for yourself and make your own food. The bottom line is , this could be an excellent rehab if managment would go in every 6 months or so and buy all new kitchen supplies and utensils and glasses and cups and plates and put people with similar age and backgrounds I know I would've been able to make it through to the end and been successful. Blood guts don't bother me. I can stitch up somebody. I can help a person through a panic attack, but be stripped of everything and not having the ability to find a better suited place I was broken down to a small crying child with no Communication skills. When I was finally able to compose myself and ask to speak with my children for Mother's Day, it was too late. I was deemed unsafe and taken away in handcuffs to the hospital. Then to a Psycword in Chino ( I'm from San Diego) Thank God I finally memorized my Husbands cell phone number Because my cellphone, was still safely locked up in Newport. But what was my husband supposed to do anyway when he works full-time and was watching our three kids while I was at my "spiritual retreat"? so after being in a patient gown with grippy socks and no underwear for 3 days, I finally broke down and humbled myself to God and asked for his forgiveness and ask him to take over my life because i could not handle it anymore. That day I talked to my mom who just had eye surgery not knowing if I would ever be released because they have to release you into somebody else's care. I had been kicked out of the house at Newport, but they had my car all my money and credit cards cell phone and clothes. Next time I talk to her, she said my stepdad would leave first thing in the morning, drive up to Chino, take me to Newport Beach, where I could pick up my car and drive back to San Diego. I will give Windward Way, Zinna Health 5 stars for how quickly I was brought all my belongings and car. From the time we pulled in, to the time I drove off, couldn't have been more than a half hour. Funny thing is my mom never really got a hold of anybody when she tried to call them about me picking up my belongings. It was just a main number for Zinna health and person that she was talking to. We didn't even have the address of the main office, only the address of where the police came and picked me up. Just happened to remember the name of the exit and where they were located from the first day that I arrived. I write all this because it helps me recover from a traumatic experience and see where we all went wrong and what we could've done differently and I hope that maybe with a couple changes they could make a big difference in peoples lives and also for people that are trying to pick a place where they can grow spiritually mentally and physically stronger in the road to recovery. I have no hate no anger towards anyone that I came across while I was at Windward Way Zinna Health Newport Beach only love for them in a difficult situation and please give the police their cell phone and credit cards to go with them. read more

Hard to write a short review and articulate the immense healing power this treatment center provides. I'm sober now for 9 months. I've had long years of sobriety in the past, (not a day worth living) but this is the first time I'm not white knuckling, my emotions rain free, and I'm living my truth. Understanding the cost to offer these services and stay viable, no one gets into this business to churn a profit, and without a passion to help others. Dear Anthony, helped get me through the door even though the cost outweighed my affordability to pay. The clinical aspect is second to none. Veronica the clinical director is brimming with compassion. She understands the nuances of addiction, and was instrumental in finding the right fit for me in the program. As a transgender girl it's hard to find placement, and accommodations. Tera in case management was there for me from the first day to my last and way after I finished treatment. She's my cheerleader. She understands what's important to get you through the rough start (when you have a hard time understand yourself, and what's right for you). She's skilled and will help strategies after care, so you can achieve long term sobriety. She's essential to help even coerce your family to support and understand your addiction. You definitely don't want to miss any of her groups Group are sourced from the best in the field. In Tim's classes I received scientific, evidence-based information essential to my recovery and self-discovery. This Information is unfortunately scarce in this industry with repetitive groups, and where CBT is just a word. Groups here are diverse, I've benefited from them all. I feel grateful and privileged to receive support and groups after I finished treatment, you can't put a price tag on that. I'd love to mention every staff member but I'll run out of space, you'll just have to meet them! Special shout out to Emma, a poster girl for sobriety, and Banksy they are a hoot to be around. Per Windward way recovery, this place give good help and guidance, what I can say is don't be fooled by the pictures you see that they have posted, the php and iop housing is not at ALL what you see in these photos. They must've pulled them off of a 2 million dollar home listing and copied and pasted. But the staff per Windward way are very helpful, yes zinnia health and Windward are in the same building and yes I don't understand it either. But if you wanna seek actual help and guidance I'd come here. Half the responses or "complaints" are from addicts who just didn't want to be in here in the first place. Ask for the addresses for the housings before you chose this is your place of recovery, except for one house the other two locations are pretty nice. Totally unprofessional. Properties have leaks so when it raining outside it's raining inside. The unprofessionalism begins with the Operations manager Adam Gonzales! Staff is continuously untrained and un reliable. I support anyone looking to change their like for the better. Seeking recovery is sometimes difficult. I highly recommend seeking recovery, however when it comes to Windward way please stay away. There are plenty of other well run treatment centers. This place is a meat market/ racket. They say their treatment is tailored to each clients individual needs. They're full of crap. If you expect the clinical staff to conduct themselves professionally and do their job, they'll say you're inpatient, intolerant, and that "expectations are resentments waiting to happen". They'll placate you and tell you what you want to hear just to appease you and keep your and/or your insurances money. As soon as your insurance stops paying, they will not hesitate to put you out on your ass with no notice and no aftercare plan of action in place. I was lied to by just about every staff member there, especially Anthony Saracino, Chelsea Morawa, and Ryan Bennett. Their "Alumni Testimonial" videos feature current staff members, including their Director of Operations, Ryan Bennet and one of their Case Managers, Michael Galvin. How ethical is that? They prey on the weak and the vulnerable. They put me out on my ass with no aftercare plan of action in place once my insurance stopped paying. Chelsea Morawa assured we that this would hat happen in front of the entire group that exact same day. Communication sucks and information is not appropriately disseminated amongst the clients or the staff. I will say that all of the techs are pretty squared away and actually do care and do try but their scope of practice is extremely limited and they are forbidden from making any command decisions, so the answer is usually no or "I don't know". The techs are left in the dark about a lot of stuff and then when stuff goes wrong, the techs are the ones that the clinical staff blames and that the clients take it out on and there's little to nothing that they can do about it. Virtually everything is grossly mismanaged. There is virtually no command and control. Bad/ disruptive behavior is widely tolerated... They do take you to a nice gym everyday. I was one of the 6/50 clients that was permitted to go on one of their monthly adventure outings/ climbing trips to Joshua Tree. That was actually really bad ass. Their "breath works" is awesome if you dig in and do the work. Ms. Sherry is awesome. Jeremy is pretty good to go. Joe the tech is really good. Jeff Clark is a pretty straight shooter and one of the more down to earth clinical staff but it's still his job to bs you. Their program is fairly regimented and they stick to the schedule fairly well. Some of the groups are fairly decent... Their medical/ mental health team, OCPAM, is competent and legit. Their one size fits all approach did not work for me and they should have been upfront about not having the capacity to help me. In my opinion, they should be going above and beyond to keep their clients happy and satisfied (for the absurd amount of money that they are making off of each client). Instead, it seems to me that they are just doing the bare minimum in order to keep the clients appeased, pacified, and admitted. I was suppose to be admitted to but at 6pm got a call saying I have to pay $500 or I have to wait til Monday for a dr. It's total crap and I want to talk to the founder or the boss of all. If I could give less than one star I certainly would. This place acts like they really care and will convince you they really do but it's all about the money there. They will keep you ridiculously and unnecessarily long in detox just to charge insurance more money and will tell your family all kinds of lies in order to convince them it's in your best interest to stay but the truth is they don't care at all and just want profit. They will vigorously block contact with close family such as your own wife if they have any inkling they may convince you to come home earlier than they want because obviously they will get less money. If you are considering this place I recommend Anaheim Lighthouse or literally anywhere else. I'm serious. read more

I went through Windward Way about a year and a half ago. I came into this fantastic treatment center detoxing from amphetamines and opiates, and as uncomfortable and broken as I was, I was grateful to be in a place as thorough and equipped as this treatment center. From the get go, I noticed that staff were both capable and empathetic towards myself and other clients. I found a great appreciation for this program through staff and clinicians who I could relate to because of their own struggles with addiction and their subsequent recovery from it. More than anything, Windward Way helped me see that there was hope for me and that I could lay down the groundwork for a healthier, more fulfilling life by maintaining self awareness and consistency. Windward Way also introduced me to 12 Step Programs, which I had never been involved in before. Staff were all very knowledgeable of AA/NA and led by example, compelling me to stay involved after treatment had been completed. This introduction to 12 step programs, paired with the group sessions, therapy and support of staff helped me find hope and self love. They all did a great job of positioning the severity of my situation, with an uplifting message The facilities here are great. The upkeep of the properties is top notch and well maintained. All of us were well provided for with resources and aid to help us deal with legal and medical issues. Staff, clinicians and doctors made themselves readily available, which made me feel comfortable and cared for. The regular outings once a week definitely helped us get out of our heads. It was a time to relax and have some fun, which I believe was important to the experience. Windward Way most definitely has allowed me to change for the better, and I am forever grateful. read more

This place is incredible. They treated me like family from day 1 and I am forever in their dept for saving my life and giving me hope again. Stayed there for around 100 days and was honestly sad to leave. If you are looking for a incredible program with staff that knows exactly what you are going through look no further. Almost all of the staff is in recovery themselves and know how to walk through darkness and find the light. I put my daughter into Windward way Recovery and was so happy with the programs and everyone there was so helpful. Cassidy in admissions was so helpful in working with me to get my daughter into this great program. My daughter really liked this facility and everyone there were all so professional. Her case worker called me every week, with updates, and seemed really on top of it. The only other thing I would have like to see was possibly some family therapy sessions, but I believe they are working on this. My daughter is 4 months sober, and still doing well, and actually, still goes back to alumni meetings as often as possible. She has continued to work the program on her own and is feeling so much better about where her life is going now. I am forever grateful having found this wonderful facility, and the difference it made in my daughters life. read more

Windwardway recovery is a great program to get sober and meet awesome relationships to further your recover.

I never thought I needed to address my alcoholism. But I was recommended Windward Way by a family member. This only happened when I finally knew I could not control my addiction. During my 90 days of treatment I found solid sponsor, attended many AA meetings, worked the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, went through daily developmental discussions and was fortunate to have a great case manager. This program has now given me over 13 months of sobriety and a better life. Not a perfect life but a life that I can build on with the tools I have been given. read more

I went to Windward way in january and it was my first experience with treatment and I couldn't have been luckier to be placed in this program. All the staff are super receptive to clients needs and truly care for their well being. They have the best interests for their clients and hire the best professionals as case managers, therapists, and group facilitators. My experience at Winward Way was life changing. I was nervous, of course, to make the initial phone call asking for help. The person in admissions answered my questions and addressed my concerns with kindness and respect while explaining the treatment program at Winward Way. When I arrived, I immediately knew I was in the right place. My assigned case manager listened to me and helped devise a treatment plan that addressed my individual needs and alcoholism. My therapist helped me to understand and identify my current and past issues - and the support staff was always available to guide me through the day and support me when I was having a difficult time or missing my family. Winward Way's unique approach to treatment and their varied classes from meditation, to trauma and psychoeducation, to group processing and nightly AA meetings helped me to find balance and learn to live life on life's terms.
