Extremely disappointed with this shipping company and would not recommend them to anyone moving valuable furniture or household items. Multiple items were damaged due to careless handling and lack of proper protection during transport, resulting in approximately $500 worth of damage. The treadmill was placed on its side during wrapping/unwrapping, which crushed the plastic hinges on the cover under the unit's own weight. Two acacia wood drawers were also damaged after being loaded into the truck without any wrapping or protective padding. In addition, part of the bottom section of an IKEA dresser was torn off, leaving roughly a 2-square-inch area damaged. After waiting 4 months, the company owner offered only about $90 in compensation. Rather than accept that, I'd rather make others aware of this experience. When you hire movers/shippers, you expect them to protect your belongings, not damage them through negligence. Save yourself the stress and headaches and stay away from this company. read more

I got lucky as my team was Ricardo, Lou, and Bayarkhuu. These three guys were not only power horses but friendly and nice. But mainly incredible. My belongings are stupid heavy. The move was done so efficiently and all 3 movers were friendly and willing to assist with whatever we needed. They were also incredibly quick to respond when we had questions. Our PODS container was shipped to CA and let me tell you, nothing budged and remained perfectly packaged. It seemed like the items had just been moved, not driven cross country over a few weeks. This was my first time using professional movers and I was blown away. They were happy to answer my questions over the phone and let me think it over before booking. I was so nervous to pick a company as it seemed like every Yelp page had such a wide range of reviews, and I didn't want to spend money on a horrible and stressful experience. I called Windy City up and they said they could help me that very same day. They came within 3 hours from Chicago to the suburbs to help me move from another move. They showed up with 3 very efficient and nice guys. They were fast and got it done in less than 3 hours. It was two moves on two different days actually one from a storage facility and the other from the apartment. It should not have taken long from storage but it took them 3 hours to get to my condo which I do not understand. I had left them thinking why should I stay it was really basic. Also, things were missing so someone stole some stuff. Most things in the unit were books but none of the kitchen stuff made it. I hope they enjoy them! The other move wasn't that bad it was over $800 with hardly anything to move. The head guy had a serious attitude. I was charged for them taking a break because it rained. Wow! I honestly can't say enough about John, Carl, and Danny from Windy City Movers who just completed my move! They were on time (early, even) and got to work right away. I live on the top floor of a walk up that exhausts me even after I've lived here for 13 years, but they handled it like the pros they are. They were all very friendly, showed amazing feats of strength, and were VERY good at maximizing the space in my truck. I have a 1 bedroom apartment, but had a lot of furniture pieces, so I got a 26' truck. Even though we didn't fill it up, I think it was the right decision because they were able to pack things in there and stand them up instead of laying them flat, which took up less room. It's always better to have more room than not enough. It took the 3 guys almost exactly 4 hours (I KNOW it would've taken less time if they didn't have to deal with the stairs) and they were well worth every penny!
