Windy City Wieners may not be five star cuisine, but for a quick lunch or late night drunk food, it can't be beat. It won't leave you incapacitated on the toilet or regretting your decision the next morning unlike some places Uptown that are also open late. I don't know what these people are saying about it being dirty, the kitchen is open and you can literally watch them make your food. Their delivery times impress me too, usually I have my food between 20 and 45 minutes unless its 2 or 3 AM in which case I understand things get a bit strained. With Prime Time closed now its pretty much calzones or these guys. Pro tip: if you are real hungry, try the beef and sausage combo with cheese and hot peppers! Not as good as Big Mouth's, but it is nice to be able to get a Maxwell Street Polish if I'm in the mood. The hot dogs are pretty good, but the burgers (especially in comparison to Big Mouth's) are just plain terrible. The fries are much better than any fast food place out here as well. read more

Skunked again by WCW on a GH order after 30 minutes past the 1.15 hours I was given as a delivery estimate they lost my order. Then they have the customer service recovery skills to offer to deliver my food another 1.5 hours from now. This is the second time they have done this with a GH order. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I placed an order for deliver that was stated by the staff to be delivered in twenty minutes. One hour later it still hadn't arrived. I decide to call to check the status on my order when and was informed my food hasn't been finished yet. I decided to order elsewhere and asked politely to cancel my order. The management threaten to black list my number and told me to never call there again. I will gladly obey by that! This restaurant has horrible service and very unprofessional, rude management. I would have rated it negatives if it was possible. I will never return to WIndy City Wieners and advise others to do the same. Apparently, they cannot service their customer's orders on a slow Thursday afternoon. I was extremely impressed with their delivery. I ready reviews saying it was slow, food was cold, they were overcharged, etc. They had extremely fast delivery (at 5:45, which should be a pretty busy time). The food was hot (not warm, but actually hot) when it got here, and the delivery guy was extremely nice. Unfortunately, I'm much less impressed with their food. I got a gyro and fries; the fries were good. The gyro was average at best. This might be because I'm used to gyros from a certain place a couple hours north, but I actually ended up tossing it out. Aggressively bad service. Several reviews mention this - the workers absolutely don't give a Sh**. I was the only (literally,the only) customer in here when I ordered a hot dog. When I sat and sat waiting, I finally asked, and turns out it had been sitting on the counter and no one had bothered to tell me. Again - i am the only one in here at the time. They kind of sneered at me when I expressed disappointment. I left without eating because it was so cold. The employees (shouldnt call them "workers") didnt offer an apology or my money back. Discovered this place riding on the trail . Its right across from disc museum. I've tried about every 'Chicago Style" hot dog in town. lots are 'ok' or close but none before this place hit the mark. WCW hit the mark with perfect mix of tastes and ingredients to make a real Chicago dog as it should be, right down to the poppy seed bun. The taste brought back lots of memories and has already brought me back to this restaurant. I have tried a number of other menu Items, Maxwell street polish also on the mark with anyone's Chicago memories. Found out that the hot dogs they use are natural casing, all beef and 'nitrite' free ( and I just thought they tasted good). . Pricing more than reasonable with daily specials and a 2 dog any day special. So if your a fan of dogs(wieners) /Gyros/ Polish give this place a try , its local owned and operated also which is also a nice change of pace in the jungle chain food establishments. read more

I've had the chicken sandwich and their Italian beef and both were pretty good. Whenever I'm in the mood for chicken I go here because it's probably the best and healthiest around. The staff are super nice and it's not a bad place to eat in or carry out. The food takes no more than 10 minutes, but delivery can take a bit. read more

Being from Chicago, I know what a good burger tastes like. These burgers are just okay. I like that you can get whatever you want on it and they are a decent size. The prices are really fair. I hate when places over price their items. The one thing I highly dislike bout this place is the delivery service. The first time I ordered from here it took about 45 minutes and the second time almost took 2 hours. I think that's completely ridiculous for a burger and some fries and the fact that I'm about 5 blocks away. I recommend this place if you actually go there to eat, but if you want it delivered, forget about it. read more

I'm usually not this person but I've time after time where I have this place another chance and was let down and regretted wasting my money. Especially with delivery! Food showed up barely warm and very soggy! Food is way over priced and never is cooked correctly. If it's not burn food it's usually that the order is wrong. Order a burger with just cheese and get onions, ketchup mustard and who knows what else. Yeah come people like that but if you don't like mustard Other things it ruins it. Or u order a gyro with everything and get a peta bread and gyro with nothing else and no sauce. Then u call back and they accuse you of trying to scam for free food. When really u just what you paid money to order. Then if u go in the workers all smell like weed and alcohol so it makes me think what else is going on back there where my food is. Very unprofessional all around. They say they have the best hot digs but I know a ton of people including most of ISU college students who would disagree. Idk how that got that title but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else deserves it more. Plain cheap hotdogs they over charge you for. Absolutely not worth any of the prices. I used to love this place. I don't know what has changed recently. I ordered a $30 order. Waited 2 hours for it to arrive. I called and asked to speak to a manager "Miguel". I asked if he could give me a discount since I have had to wait so long. He tells me to call back Monday to speak to the owners. I asked for the owners name, and a last name. The manager didn't even know the owners last name! I told him I did not wish to wait until then. He had no customer service skills what so ever and I don't know how he ever became a manager. I asked for my order to be canceled and to refund the money to my card. He would not cancel nor refund my card. After today I will never order from here again. read more

Ordered from here for the first time today. I had placed my order online, which their site is very user friendly and maid it easy to order my food, considering I was stuck at work and could not leave the store unattended. I placed my order right when they opened at 11, an Italian beef combo. It took an hour to get delivered, and then the driver could not find the business (I had put the name of the business in the directions and we have our open sign on), so I had to go out in the rain to find him, causing both me and my order to be wet. After the driver finally stopped hitting on me (I was trying to be friendly and invite him to my church function, while he wanted "alone time"), my fries were rock hard and cold with no flavor to them. I did call and complain, which the person on the phone offered to send out a new, hot order of fries, which he did. The food overall, even with the new order of fries was very disappointing. The Italian beef had too much cheese and was not even on the meat, just slumped over in the edge of the bun, so all you got was a bite with greasy cheese. The fries still tasted like a piece of wood, with a matching texture. I don't think I will be eating Windy City Wieners any time in the future/ever again.
