Review Visit: August 17th, 2014 Fun name. Delicious food. While exploring Bloomington-Normal one day, my friends and I came across Windy City Wieners. First, we chuckled at the name but then decided we should grab some lunch there. Firstly, Windy City Wieners is located in a pleasant place location in Normal. It's near the Amtrak station, the street it's on has lots of little shops to browse. There is a parking lot to park nearby so you can walk around and visit shops. Now to the food. My friend Matt and I stopped by for food. It has been a few years, so I don't recall what I had. But I do know it was delicious. So good that I wanted to order another dog or two. Matt also enjoyed his meal and wanted a few more dogs, too. My memory may be a bit foggy, but I do remember the friendly staff and how delicious the food was. Conveniently, they have 2 locations, so if you are in the area, you have 2 choices of where to get some authentic Chicago-style hot dogs.

Solid Chicago dogs! Staying the night on a road trip and found this gem walking distance from our hotel. Perfect snap biting into the dog with all the classic Chicago dog toppings. Fries were large cut & piping hot. We took our dogs to go & at at a nice shaded picnic area around the corner. Service was quick & price is very reasonable. Portions are generous. The restaurant is more of a take out place & has pretty basic ambiance for a quick bite. Cute little shop right on the main drag!

It's not 5 star dining ! But it's classic Americana Italian beef ,Italian sausage and loaded fries is what I had all was pretty good ! Served hot and fresh ! Cool Little hotdog cart in a building nothing special but a good hot meal I would much rather spend $20 here than McDonald's!

We love the impossible burgers here. They are these best in town. Wish they had a Windy City Wieners in Northern Illinois. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive from our house but we always come here when where in the Normal/Bloomington area. Burgers are definitely worth the drive. I would have taken a picture but it was so delicious and I ate all of it. The fries were very yummy also.

where do I even start. This establishment is full of charm and good vibes. From the moment I walked through the door, the aroma from kitchen entered my nose and went straight to my heart. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I got the corn dog and butter garlic fries and let me tell you- they rocked my world. Don't even started on the exceptional service and employees. If I had a child, I would feel more than comfortable dropping him off at Windy City Weiners while I run an errand. So, if you're in the area and looking for the best meal of your life, look no further than Windy City Weiners!!

I love it when I see Chicago things when I'm not in Chicago. They have Chicago dogs and Italian Sausage, I chose 2 chili cheese dogs though. I like they even have the poppy seed buns. They're faithful to Chicago flag colors of sky blue, white and red.

Appearance almost made me throw up!!!

Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!!! service. The first time I ordered from here they forgot my fries for my meal. The second time they put the wrong peppers on my gyro and the third I got gyro fries and they Gave me complete slop. I should've known it wouldn't be good when the delivery lady arrived at my BACK DOOR. I just moved here from the city and wanted something that tasted like home! this was a complete and utter disappointment JUST DISGRACEFUL DISTASTEFUL AND DISTURBING! I wouldn't even feed this to a dog on the street let alone another human being. FOUR slices of meat RINGED onions tomato SLICES and DRIED cheese on fries that 9/10 came out of the same grease as pork beef fish and whatever else they fry there. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this place. I like the popular hot dog here and french fries with extra cheese sauce. One more thing, they are opening until 3am

We decided to go with the rustic pizzas that were delicious and unusual: harmony, Korean, chicken and loaded supreme. The crust tasted like it was from a woodfired oven and the Korean chicken pizza was so unusual and tasty with kimchi and pickled shiitake. The fresh from the forest mushroom side dish they gave us a special treat to us was quite a delicacy. Even the farm to table items they have for sale when you walk in to take home are a treat, Especially the homemade marshmallows! Ended with dessert of a fresh orange olive oil cake with just tremendous flavor and blood orange on the side and orange marmalade on the cake. It served exquisitely with a side of homemade ice cream that was to die for. We can't wait to come back! Our waitress, Lupe, treated us like family and was incredibly personal and warm. Put this on your must visit List.

We started with the sashimi plate. The fish was fresh- including tuna, salmon, shrimp- placed over small celery bites. A variety of sauces were dotted around the plate's edge. The dish would have benefited from some ginger and more sauce. Our entrees included Pork Coppa Ramen- which was a solid dish- strong beef broth flavor and the sambal (chili sauce) -a few cents extra- added a good depth of flavor. The fish bowl- tuna, salmon- with rice, pickled veggies, and gim (Korean seaweed) was tasty. It was even tasty the next day cold out of the fridge. Our server Jack did a nice job- we sampled their roasted carrots- and they were actually our favorite bite. We also had the potato graten and they were tasty- but could have been easily skipped with our Asian dinner vibe. The restaurant has a great eclectic historical vibe and was busy on a Friday night, but still felt spacious. The drink menu is a good selection- we enjoyed wine with dinner (a solid Pinot noir). I would definitely go back to have the pizza- which looked delicious at a couple of the neighboring tables. This is a great date night venue or girls night out.

The hit were the mushrooms and pretzel! It was filling and all very fresh. The mushrooms were gooey with cheese and a sauce. The pretzel was warm and brown with a yummy cheese sauce. We agreed the nachos were average. The ribs were good but I didn't love the mustard in the sauce. We had great service and you couldn't beat the price. Major score tonight!

It was fine, though the cocktail sauce could have used a little more horseradish. The basket of warm bread and whipped butter was great. And The salads were excellent (we went for a standard greens salad and a Caesar salad). For the main dish, we each ordered a bacon wrapped filet, medium rare, with Brussels sprouts. The filets were prepared as directed, but seemed dry, tough and flavorless. Disappointed. But worse was the Brussels sprouts (one of our favorites). The sprouts were hard, woefully undercooked and crunchy. Not in a good way. The flavor was lost in the rough texture. Very disappointed. The staff seemed a little flustered too. Brought a side a sautéed onions when we'd ordered mushrooms. Too bad, as we had enjoyed our pasta meals before and had expected a steakhouse to perform better.

We had a reservation so we were seated promptly at a large table in its own little alcove in the back. While the place was busy, we could chat comfortably with one another and felt adequately separate from other tables. The menu has a bit of everything, so everyone should be able to find something they like on it. We started with cocktails, mozzarella sticks, and pretzel bites. The cocktails were good but I could've used less sweetness in mine. The mozzarella sticks and pretzels bites were standard, which means they were great as usual. For a group of 5 of us, an order of each was enough to hold us over until the main meal. I personally got the fish sandwich for my dinner with fries. The fish was great and large enough that it hung over the sides of the bun. My only complaint about the sandwich was the lack of tartar sauce on it. The cook must have just added the smallest dash, as the only sign it was there was a little spot of discoloration on the bun. The fish was good but the sandwich would have been better with more moisture from that tartar. The fries it came with were standard shoe string fries. Nothing special but hit the spot all the same. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals as well and we left comfortably full with no leftovers. Overall the meal came at a good pace, the atmosphere was nice, and the prices were reasonably. If in town again we would come back here.
