Chicago - 2 Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Fries
Dave J.

Two Chicago Dog Daily special with fries and a drink. It was what I wanted for lunch and exactly what I got. Good dog with fresh topping and crispy fries. It's not the greatest dining room to eat in, but it has tables and chairs which were both clean.

So-called "Large" fries. Wonder what a small looks like. Ripoff.

Not at all happy. Does this place look like a Chicago place? Yes. But I paid 3 bucks for a large fry and got less than half a basket. So O take a couple POCs to post to Yelp. They saw me. I go back up, and order a small fry. He fills the basket and gives me the stink eye. Otherwise, the food is pretty much What you'd expect at a place called Windy City Weiners.

Gyro burgers burnt

I order food at 7pm food came at 830. When I get the food it's cold and don't look edible. Call manager Tyler that Saud this the way they deliver food . If I can give no stars o wood . This will be last time ordering from this place will be calling health department next. Close this place down.

Gyros
Cameron J.

These gyros are outstanding. I'm always craving gyros so this was a great place. The tatziki sauce was one of the best I've ever had. Meat was a little overcooked but the sauce made up for it. Next time I'm getting the gyro loaded fries.

Jumbo dog

Came across this place while we explored the Farmers Market on a Saturday - and it's come up on my yelp searches too but we never mad it down this way. The place is kind of divey but food is good. We had the jumbo dog (Chicago style), burger, loaded fries and chili cheese fries. I have to say, I actually prefer their hotdog to Portillo's. The prices are very reasonable so we enjoyed trying a few different things. They had different specials on each day of the week. They have a good selection from hotdogs and burgers, to salads and gyros. If you check in on Yelp you get a yummy chocolate chip cookie (nice and chewy/soft like I like it). Definitely a place I'm looking forward to trying again.

Saturday special! Can't be beat.

Hot dog and polish was good. Warm but not hot. The "cup" of chili was a small container about 1/4 cup in size.

While my partner grew up eating Portillo's, I had never had the chance to try it. So right before…read moreheading out of town on a Saturday, we found ourselves in need of a quick lunch and thought Portillo's would be a great choice. The place is huge, with three different dining rooms and an outside patio. The parking lot is large enough to accommodate such a crowd as well, as the place was pretty packed and we had no issues getting a spot not far from the restaurant. We did not wait long in line to order, and I was impressed by how fast the food came out. They obviously have a great system and plenty of workers to make sure you food comes out fast, fresh, hot, and correct. I got the chopped salad, since I needed something refreshing, and my partner relived his childhood with his favorite burger, fries, and a milkshake. The salad was great! I was skeptical about the pasta in it, but it added great texture and held onto the gorgonzola cheese well. Overall the flavors were balanced and each bite was tasty. The bread it is served with is also great. It came out still warm and went amazing with my salad. My partner loved his burger, saying it was just like he remembers, and let me try his vanilla shake. It was thick, creamy, and had great vanilla flavor. While I am not a plain vanilla fan, I found their ice cream very good. We were in and out in an hour and spent probably the same amount of money we would have at any other fast food or fast casual place. The bathrooms were also clean and had plenty of stalls. If given the opportunity again I would definitely come back.

The store in Normal is about a 15 minute drive off Interstate 74 from the south side of town. I started with 2 Chicago-style hot dogs. There was a pickle spear, a tomato slice, and some peppers in with my hot dog, on a poppy seed bun. I devoured them. Then I let my wife know where I was eating. She suggested I try a hot and wet, and the chocolate cake. The hot dogs were excellent so I decided to try them. I wasn't sure what a hot and wet was so I asked the cashier who took my order. She said "I got you." It was a slow-roasted Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers and dipped in the beef's natural "gravy" that dripped off it while it was roasting. I opened the package and started eating immediately. There was no stopping until it was gone. The photo in their online menu is pretty accurate. I didn't pause long enough to take one myself. Then there was the cake. If you like chocolate cake, this is a no-brainer. It was definitely non-dry. It was likely the best cake I''ve eaten all year. The restaurant was nice and clean, with someone cleaning up after customers as soon as tables were vacated. The cashiers were friendly, and the woman calling out the numbers was extremely friendly. I saw her offer to help a woman across the dining area from the pick-up window to package up a large to-go order. She also noticed that I went back for the cake. I will have to stop here again the next time I'm passing through.

Review Visit: June 11th, 2018…read more That Burger Joint is... disjointed? Recently, Oberweis Dairy (an ice cream store, a la Cold Stone Creamery) has expanded to offer a restaurant attached to their store. While driving through Bloomington, the gimmicky name instantly caught my eye. You would think if you visit a restaurant with burger in it's name, you would order a burger. But I didn't. I ordered 'That Spicy Chicken'. My friend ordered 'That Burger'. We sat down and were anxious to dig in to the food. The sandwiches were massive and heavy. Almost too big to eat. But where it was big in size, it lacked in flavor. I got jalapenos on my chicken and it definitely added a kick, but the chicken itself tasted... off. It wasn't bad, but it didn't give me anything to write home about. Just this blog post. I tried my friend's burger and she tried my sandwich. Her burger was full of flavor due to the toppings and grease, but the actual meat had no more flavor than a $4 pound of unseasoned beef that you'd get at the local grocer. She agreed that the food was mediocre overall. The lay out of the inside reminds me of a hybrid between Steak N Shake and Five Guys Burger & Fries. You walk up to the counter, place your order and you either take it to go or they can bring it out to your table. It's that cross between fast food and restaurant. The decor was sparse and lacking. There is an attempt to give it a rustic look, but the large swathes of black leave much to be desired. The customer service was good while ordering, but once we were sitting down, the staff was complaining among themselves about how short staffed they were. I hate to score That Burger Joint so low, but I can't in good conscious give it a glowing review. It's best to avoid it, even if you are there getting ice cream. There are way better places in Bloomington/Normal to get food.
