Please do not call this company, they scam you. I called one morning explaining that I heard noises which sounded like "gnawing" coming from my attic. A man answered the phone and I explained to him that I wasn't sure what it was and he quickly stated that it must be a squirrel and he would have someone come to inspect it. On their website (which was difficult to find) it states that they deal with mice amongst many other animals so I assumed whatever animal they found they would take care of the problem. I believe Kevin came out to look at our attic and he stated there were mice there and unfortunately they don't deal with mice anymore. He charged us $95 to tell us we had a mice problem and then left without doing any work. He gave my husband the name of someone they work with closely to deal with the problem. I couldn't believe it. I did my own private investigation and called the company back today and a woman answered. I explained to her that we had mice living in our garage and if she could have someone come and take a look. She declined stating they don't deal with that issue. Please do not waste your money! read more

Called with an urgent raccoon issue. A gentleman (who never gave his name) answered, i told him a little of my problem, and he told me because of the time of day that they could send some one out the next day. He even made mention of animal proofing my home so this would be less likely to take place again. Then he said he would call in the morning with a time that some one would be out. I was fine with that except, I didn't receive a call that morning. I called and left a message later in the day to ask if any one would still be coming out to help me with my animal problem. I waited at home all day for them. I should have called animal control to start with because no one ever called me back! I was very disappointed with my lack of an experience with this business. I contacted Windy City Wildlife at 10:30am after I spotted a possum wandering in my yard. I realized it had recently given birth and there were also 2 dead babies near a crate in my back yard. I spoke with Frank who informed me he had two appointments before me. He arrived at 1:45 PM to remove the possums from my yard and also the nest. I would definitely recommend this company. read more

I had called this company because we were in need of cleaning out bird nests that were in our bathroom vent on the second story. The owner and his assistant came out to our house in Huntley, and multiple times said that he usually doesn't drive that far, so what a great service I was getting. My husband wasn't there, which was a big problem. If he was, I think he would've noticed how bad of a job this company did. We had to have another company come out and re-do the removal and sanitizing. Windy City wildlife didn't clean out the nest or remnants fully, and the cage they put over the vent fell off two weeks after they had "done" the job because they screwed in 1/4 bolts. I called the owner and he told me he would call me back to schedule a time to fix it, but never did. I called him three different times and he stopped answering my calls. Really awful service. I'd never recommend them. Obviously only in it for the money. read more

I have used the large pest removal firms for years and they do nothing but make me feel like I am doing something about the problem. Frank came out found the problem and told us what the Big Problem really was. I did not want to hear it, however, had I been told that by the firms that monthly come out I might have gotten rid of my pest infiltration. I appreciate his honesty and the way this business operates. Chicago has a definite problem and it needs to find a solution not just mask it! "The Quickie" -- My experience with Windy City Wildlife started off great! I was very satisfied with Scott and Maureen's follow-up and communication. They sent Kevin to my home in April 2015 (date in dispute with company as discussed later, below) to check a problem with critter-like noises coming from my attic and roof. My home is a two-story home, so Kevin had to use an extended ladder. Kevin climbed on the roof to take a look and did not find any animal entry points. He checked the attic and also found no animal entry points. Kevin assured me the noises were not from animals getting inside of my house. That night, however, I heard the noises, again. I contacted Kevin and he said he could set a trap but he did not believe it was necessary because there were no animal entry points leading to the interior of my home and Kevin believed it was just animals walking on my roof. The noises continued for a while longer, on and off, tapering off around the winter time. The same exact noises in the same exact locations, however, spiked up again during this Spring. This time I called Scott and Maureen, directly. I gave them a synopsis of this scenario and told them I am still hearing the noises and my neighbors next door told me they saw birds entering the corner my gutters, fascia, and soffit areas (locations that is hard to see from on top of the roof). Scott asked when did Kevin come to my home and I told him it was around last Spring; he then asked me if I had a receipt. I did have the receipt and I e-mailed it to Scott. Scott did not respond to two (2) e-mails, so I called him about fourteen (14) days later. The conversation with Scott was very disappointing as he denied getting the e-mails saying they went to the SPAM folder. Then, he told me Kevin came out two (2) years ago based on the receipt*which he just denied receiving via e-mail*. Scott asked why I did not call him sooner; I told him a called right away. Scott, however, had no record of the call which was not suprising because he did not have record of the receipt either. I asked Scott if he would: (1)come back to my home and fix the problem; or (2) refund my money. He said he no longer takes jobs in the "South Side" (Hyde Park) Chicago. My response was: "Do you feel comfortable doing poor inspection and make a quick buck and provide aboslutely no service...then, telling a customer you no longer do business in the area?" Scott said I should call Smithereen Pest Management for "South Side" pest service. Scott mistakenly relied on: (1) the claim that he longer works in the South Side; and (2) the date which Kevin mistakenly wrote on the receipt (2014 not 2015) to deny providing the help I paid for but did not receive. He never responded to my e-mails and when I spoke to Scott by phone he was not initially forthcoming and truthful. I told Scott based on his company's negligence the likelihood of the animals dwelling further into my home and causing additional damage was high. I politely asked Scott if we could resolve our issue amicably and he was uncompromising. -A disappointed single-family homeowner. read more

First, I am only giving 4 stars because they just came out and I want to wait a few weeks to see if what they told me actually works. Last night I heard what sounded like a cricket in my attic and the sound of some animal walking on the ceiling. In the morning I called Windy City Wildlife (about 7:00). They called back around 8:30 and asked for a description of what was happening. After a brief discussion they gave me an initial inspection/trap setting rate of $125 and told me it would be $95 for each pest removed (if it was a raccoon). They showed up about 11:00 and performed an external evaluation of my house. The technician did not see any entry points and asked if he could enter the attic. He was very conscientious of the walls, insulation, etc. He tried very hard to not mess up my home while inspecting inside. He brought me up into the attic and explained his process to me as to how he eliminated various pests (e.g. raccoons, squirrels) and showed me how he concluded that is was most likely mice (small tunnels in insulation, droppings, etc.). He explained to me how, as a homeowner I could treat this myself (and save money along the way). He even explained why I would use one form of trap over another and the proper way to place them. I was impressed with their professionalism and responsiveness. It's always a plus when a company doesn't try to gouge you and actually helps you save money. Kevin came to the city to remove a squirrel that had made a home inside our roof. He baited and trapped the squirrel in a cage. We couldn't be happier with his service. Their prices were competitive and on the low end. I would confidently recommend these guys to anybody with an animal problem. read more

EXTREMELY COSTLY!! My wife saw a bat in our attic and I found Windy City Wildlife online. There are limited wildlife removal companies for bats in the Chicago area and they were the only one to call back. Frank came out and was knowledgeable and explained there was 1 or (2 bats based on droppings). He said they were coming in under the gaps in the flashings below the gutters. There were many areas that they could access and he said it's best to caulk and seal the whole perimeter of the house (and the bat will die and mumify). I do not disagree with his assessment. He quoted $700 to seal the whole house and we went with it because my wife was freaked out about the bats. In addition, I was charged $175 for the initial inspection fee which they claim is applied to your quote if go with the quoted price to fix the problem (this was stated by the woman I initially spoke to). The inspection took about 35 minutes and the sealing took Frank less than 2 hours. I agreed to the quote and paid my part but wish I would have gotten other quotes or called someone else to do the sealing. From what I can see they sealed the gaps properly. Overall, I feel like I was really taken advantage of and would never use this again because of the cost. read more

The service was quick and professional. Frank took care of the problem, removal of dead animal under the closed deck. He was at our home for about 35 minutes. The price was steep and surprising. It was within the large quote range given, the most expensive end. This did not match the description on how the cost would be assessed. It seemed excessive. I did follow up with office for explanation and they had Frank call me back not the one who gave me the explanation for quote. It did not resolve it for me. read more

I am so disappointed in the service from this company. We paid them $140 and the worker came once and looked around the property and said he couldn't determine what animal we had and couldn't find an entry point. I have spoken with both the manager and the wildlife worker. We had an appointment set up for a Friday. The worker never showed up and no one ever called to tell us why. They gladly took our money but 4 months later we still have a loud, angry vermin in the walls of our house. Please don't waste your money. read more

I needed help fast with a stuck skunk under my porch at my home on the Northwest Side of Chicago. It had sprayed all over and couldn't get out the way it came in. I called Windy City Wildlife at random to see if they could help right away, and they were there in a half hour, were able to get at the animal after following a few directions that I gave them over the phone (I was at work but had someone available to let them into my home) and were fast, professional, and very conscientous about keeping me posted about what was being done in my home to take care of the issue while I was not able to be there. They came out same day to address our squirrel problem, as the squirrels felt that our attic was their home. They set traps, caught the squirrels, and patched the holes where they were getting into the attic. It's been a few weeks and no more squirrels. The price was good too. I would highly recommend Windy City Wildlife for any pest removal needs. Their prices are better than the competition and the service is expert and friendly. Kevin, my tech,was knowledgeable, helpful, and all around just a nice guy. He took the time to explain everything he was doing to catch our intruder, and routinely followed up with text messages and phone calls to check on the status of the trap. He gave me tips and advice on creating a permanent seal to prevent re-entry, and was there every step of the way. The best part... I never even met Kevin face to face. While it may seem strange that this was the "best part", as someone who works in the city and doesn't have a lot of free time during normal working hours to stay around the house, it was a relief that I didn't even need to be there for Kevin to get started. I just left a check and we were on our way. When I was able to catch the skunk who had taken up residence, Kevin was there immediately after I texted to take him to his new home. We have a big skunk problem. They walk around our yard in broad day light. This company brought out 2 traps with a few apples in them. They did not rebait or check in with us or make any attempt to try to catch the skunks. We baited them ourselves with sardines ourselves and although the can was actually pulled out of the traps and devoured, the traps were not triggered and did not close. I had a contractor and a landscaper look at the traps and they said they were so insensitive that the animals were getting in and not setting them off. We even rolled a rock into the traps to see if we could set them off and we couldn't. We called to complain and they said the traps were fine, never came out to check them, charged me $165 and took them away after two weeks without even letting us know they were coming, let alone asking for permission to come on our property. We hired Robert to take care of a bat problem on our front porch. After he got rid of the bat he threw up some really bad caulking and tape to cover the hole. He assured us he'd be back with his carpenter to finish the job. He never came back to finish the job and will not return my phone calls. It has been over 3 months now since the work was started. We paid him $300 to basically tape (masking tape) a crack shut. I'm furious and will be filing a complaint with small claims court. This is unacceptable. I would highly recommend you go with another company to take care of your pest problem. read more

We had a bird problem. They came out and were friendly. It wasn't until I called because the problem hadn't been fixed. They wouldn't return phone calls. I called for two weeks to try and have them come back out. They did and said nothing was wrong but there were still birds. They wouldn't return my husband's phone calls. They returned without notice and when I asked him to wait for a couple of minutes until I could reach my husband via telephone, he left. We still have the problem and it was never fixed. They wouldn't return calls after that incident. I wouldn't recommend. We used a different service who was able to take care of the birds for us. If a company is going to charge customers then the service should be completed. read more

I am very sad after just hanging up with Windy City Wildlife removal. I initially hired them to remove a mother raccoon and her three babies. When the mother was caught I asked the man who trapped them if he would release her and he said "yes". The next day the three babies were caught and I asked the same man if he would release the babies where he let the mom go and he replied "yes". He did discuss ways to keep them off the house briefly, but it seemed he was in a big hurry and did not want to talk much. I subsequently called Scott the owner who to his credit was honest and told me the raccoons were destroyed. I am realistic and know raccoons carry dangerous diseases and parasites and may pose a danger to other wildlife. I also a homeowner and know I had no option other than to remove the raccoons. So why am I writing this review on Yelp? I felt like I was deliberately misled about the fate of the raccoons, and would have like to have known what I was going to do to them from the get go. read more
