Wine Country is one of those small shops that quietly does everything right. The store is clean, well-organized, and easy to pop in and out of without feeling overwhelmed or ignored. Prices are fair, selection is solid, and the staff is genuinely excellent--friendly, helpful, and actually paying attention, which feels rarer than it should. It's not a massive warehouse of alcohol, but it doesn't need to be. There's a good mix of domestic, local, and imported beers, plenty of wines, and some hard liquor as well. Enough variety to keep most people happy no matter what they're into. I personally don't drink wine--I usually stop in for Sam Adams--but if I did, I'm confident I'd walk out with something I liked. What a great wine shop! Wine Country has an enormous selection of wines from all over the world. The place is very clean and cozy. I came in on a Saturday and was delighted to find that they had a wine tasting going on. Apparently they have these every saturday from 4:00-7:00 pm. There were three wines available to sample and the staff was very knowledgable. I ended up tasting a new wine that I had never tried before which was excellent and went great with the meal I had planned for the evening. They have a huge selection of reasonably priced wines. I also got to meet the owner of the store Steve. He was very friendly and inviting and we ended up talking about the wine store and another passion of his, cycling! He mentioned that it was a family run business and I could tell: he really cares for his customers. The store also has a huge selection of spirits and beers. Love this place. Great wine selection and they also carry beer and hard liquor as well as mixers, cheese and cigarettes. The wine selection is great and I can find my staple go to wines there as well as a nice variety of wines I've never tried before. My boyfriend is more of the beer type so he appreciates that they also carry it there (it's not the most extensive selection but they definitely have the staples....it is WINE country after all). The owner is one of the nicest, friendliest store owners I've ever met. He is always so friendly when my boyfriend and I stop in and he's also very knowledgeable and there to give suggestions if you have any questions. They also hold wine/food tasting events every now and then. I've never been able to make it but have heard that they're pretty awesome. Thankfully, Wine Country is a few blocks from my house. However, it's not just proximity that won me over. This month was the first time I went in and was told of their Italian wine and food events that are held weekly. Their selection is artfully chosen, with a refreshing range of price points. The store itself is beautiful, full of custom wood shelving. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and down to earth. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list - they send awesome reminders for their tastings and events Finally, my two favorite Wine Country moments: 1) 20minutes after closing, the store remained opened for me. 2) At their weekly tastings of Italian wines, they offered a private chef with 3 gourmet courses all for FREE ....amazing!!! This place is a winner. Definitely worth the extra couple bucks. Can't wait until Saturday...I've also told all friends from nearby to attend the weekly events. This place is great! I wandered in here the other day walking home from getting groceries and was surprised to find such a classy establishment hidden in and amongst other retail shops. I met a while with Steve the owner and we got to talking about wines and 'wine country'. We moved onto the subject of craft beer (of which he has a great selection, even some that aren't offered at a larger establishment up the road) and after a few minutes I was given a couple of free samples of some new IPA brews which are quite enjoyable. He recommended a nice Merlot (which paired well with my dinner) from among a wide selection of national and international brands whose price can range from quite inexpensive to high end. Combine their beer and wine selection with a choice selection of spirits and snack style foods and you have a definite winning combination. For me the location is about 5 minutes from my house which makes visiting it again quite easy but the friendly, knowledgeable service I received is what truly guarantees my return. read more
