We've been there twice. The first time we went with a local Laguna Beach friend for their happy hour evening ... can't remember what night it was but she said they have a happy hour evening with reduced prices each month. We ordered a pizza and it was good and we both had a glass of happy hour Pinot Noir -- it was enjoyable. A radio station is located upstairs and they had a guitar players/singer performing -- he was okay but the music was so loud that you couldn't have a conversation and it makes your head ache to sit near the music. We decided to give it another try one evening as we were passing through Laguna Beach. Again, another guitar/singer performing and this time the music was even louder! Seriously, why play the music so loud when it's a small venue. I literally had to stick my finger in my ear at one point because of the volume. It would be a great place if they would either skip the live entertainment or at least turn down the equipment to be at volume that allows people sitting next to each other to have conversation without having to yell to one another. They seem to be popular and are pretty crowded. Their pizza is good. The wine by the glass selection is decent. It's a 3 star experience for me -- could be raised if I ever stop by when some live musical performer isn't blasting the volume. read more

This is probably one of the best restaurants in the Laguna/Newport area! The owner Chris is super welcoming and warm. It's a nice ambience with a huge wine list! We had the bruschetta, traditional and goat cheese/fig. Both were great, the bread could have been a bit more crunchy and less chewy. Main course: the steak frites, roasted chicken and veggie pizza. Everyone enjoyed the food but I can only speak for my veggie pizza. It was super thin and flavorful! Loved it! Plus: they make their own mozzarella! Bravo! read more

Came for an early Mother's Day dinner. Overall the meal was good. I felt the roasted vegetables could have been roasted. They came out lightly steamed. The wine was good. Service was excellent. Plates came out as they were hot. Not necessarily in the order they were put in so know everything is meant to be shared or eaten on arrival. With Celiac, the waitress was great at walking me through gluten free options on the menu and what they could make gluten free. My only issue was there were no gf starters or happy hour food items. I use yelp often but have never actually written a review. This week I hosted a private party at the Wine Gallery and it was so phenomenal, I had to take the plunge and write my first. From making a reservation to deciding on a menu and wines, all while being 3,000 miles away, Matt made things very easy. I just set a budget and gave them a vague idea of what I wanted and left the rest up to the Wine Gallery. They were very accommodating of food allergies as we had a few in our group. The food is absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. The fig & goat cheese bruschetta is a must try and was enjoyed by even the least adventurous eaters in our party. This is one of those places that you can tell the owner's heart and soul goes into the wine selection, so make sure to take advantage of that. Many unique and varied options for any taste. I highly recommend Chris's Pinot Noir. The atmosphere and service was what really made the event special. The thoughtful, relaxed, wine-themed decor is beautiful without being overdone and the staff really made sure that everyone in our party was having an excellent meal. read more

I have been here numerous times and enjoyed myself each time I go. The staff is friendly and attentive, great selection of wines, and good food! Tonite when I went, I tried the caprese which was incredible. Although I would pass on the powdered olive oil. Just weird. The scallops were amazing and so was the ahi that I split. Now I just need to venture on to some more varieties of wine other than the one I love when I go. Definitely will be back! read more

Great little wine bar in Laguna off PCH. Hubby and I needed food at 10 pm and thankfully they were still serving pizza. I like things spicy so we ordered the Calabrese pizza. It was pretty good. I like Neopolitan's Calabrese better but the spicy chili oil here in Wine Gallery is better. I also ordered a carafe of their Cabernet which is a nice deal (250 ml for $16). The service is very good here. Mike, our bartender/server was attentive without hovering. I definitely give them props for that. Chris, the owner, stopped by to ask how everything was and thank us for coming in again. I appreciated that. Sometimes it is the small things like this that make you want to come back. Everyone likes a neighborhood place. Especially one that has the right atmosphere, design and music. Did I mention yet that they play really good music here? Definitely a note able thing! Came here with friends for a dinner on Saturday night. The mood is a little incongruous with the type of music they are playing and the tv's broadcasting sports. I feel like if someone wants to watch the game and grab a drink, this probably isn't the place they are going to go to. I was immediately excited by the menu and had a hard time narrowing down my choices. Since I wanted to try both the meat balls and their pizza, I lucked out when the special was meatball pizza. The only star I took off was for the speed of service. We ordered 3 bottles of wine and it took about 10 minutes for it to all come out. Following that, we told the waitress we were ready to order, but she just walked away and didn't return for about another 10 minutes. Once we finally ordered, she told us the kitchen works best when things come out as they are ready. We said that was fine, but there was honestly a 25 minute difference from when the first dish to the last dish dropped. If this was a tapas place, and we were all sharing, it wouldn't be that bad, but we had one person sitting alone with a salad for 15 minutes before anyone else even had food. The food ended up being delicious. The meat ball pizza wasn't overly heavy and I also tried a bit of the sausage pizza. You can tell the pasta sauce is made fresh and they are using quality ingredients. The size is easily finishable for 1 person. Being from CT and a fan of the New Haven hot oil pizza's, I was excited that they brought some out to the table. The scallops came out absolutely last, and were very tasty. I will say though that we were expecting more of a cauliflower mash, than what was mostly a decorative smear across the plate. I would definitely want to go back when in the area! read more

This is our absolute favorite restaurant... EVER! For so many reasons... 1) Clean, beautiful, amazing ambiance inside and amazing view right down the side street to the ocean. Even stairs to the beach to take a romantic stroll after dinner. 2) FLAWLESS service! Remembered us from the last time we had been there and helped us make great menu choices. TIP: always go with whatever is on the specials board. Their daily pizzas are always so creative and yummy. 3) Very special and unique wine and cheese choices (pricy but totally worth it). 4) This part is very important... they make their own ice cream! In amazing flavors like peach burbon ummm ...YUMM! To recap - fresh homemade pizza with toppings like fresh ricotta and red pepper, awesome appetizers and they make their own ice cream! JUST GO! I really liked this place and give it a 4.5. Three of my friends and I went for my birthday. I had never been there before and didn't know what to expect. I would say it is more "bar" than "restaurant" but the food was good. The wine selection is very nice. There is a variety of choices and prices. We love wine and cheese and started with the 5 cheese selections recommended by the staff. They were nice, not too different or outrageous. Nothing too far out of the box. We get together and try new cheeses about every other month and so we have had some crazy cheese. These were pretty tame. If you are not a cheese expert, you would still like these cheeses. We asked for more bread and crackers for the cheese and they brought it, gladly. To accompany our cheese, we ordered the olive election. It was a nice blend of about 5 different kinds in an olive oil. The Hearth Bread was delicious!! I believe it was baked, or warmed in the brick oven. It had a very light covering of a subtle cheese, just a hint in the taste, and then a wonderful honey is lightly drizzled over the top. It was the best thing we had. We decided to share for our "main course" which really wasn't. The pizzas looked good but we were full and wanted to save room for dessert. We shared the mushroom risotto, (small portion but yummy), and the chopped salad, (larger portion and pretty good). For dessert they have a small selection. We ordered the chocolate brownie with yummy ice cream and the apple cobbler that also comes with ice cream. The ice cream was really good, very creamy and not too sweet. Both of the desserts were really good. We all loved them. The place is pretty small but the ambiance is cool. We went fairly early, 6:15, and had no trouble getting a seat but, it got really busy as the night went on. I would guess that they have about 10 tables plus bar seating. As the night went on (we left at 10:00) it got very noisy. Standing room only. There was a nice mix of people, from young to older but all very cool. The service was ok. We had a glass with lipstick on it and another wine with cork in it. The waitress was very apologetic and quickly replaced the wine and the glasses. We sort of had to track her down to get her to our table but once she was there, she was very helpful. read more

We had a very strange experience tonight. I am giving it 5 stars because the food was wonderful and Rafael was Amazing!!! I wish I could say the same about Courtney, our server. Our party was one of the first if not the first ones there. Courtney acted like we so inconvenienced her by our presence. Tried the Wine Gallery for the first time on Sunday. I don't typically go to Laguna Beach but Shawn Jones, a phenomenal singer/songwriter and guitarist was performing. Shawn was great as usual and this seems like a good venue for him solo. I like the room and ambiance but thought the 2 small TVs unnecessary and distracting. There were a couple large groups while I was there and thought that took away from the experience. I thought the wine list was good albeit small and rather limited. I like they were California centric. The beer list was even more limited and I think they could have done better featuring California craft beers. Food and wine seemed a bit pricey for what you get. I tried a couple food items. The oven roasted cauliflower was good. It could have used a dipping sauce on the side. The fish tacos were very tasty. A nice light but flavorful plate. When Shawn Jones plays there again, I will be there. Otherwise, I will stick closer to home - San Clemente - and head to the Cellar. If I lived in Laguna I could see going more often. Overall - 5 stars for Shawn Jones, 4 for ambiance and 3-3.5 for food & wine. read more

I have been travelling with my boyfriend for a few weeks in California and Arizona. We are from Quebec City, Canada. Back home, we really enjoy eating out at places that have the perfect balance of good food and a great atmosphere. During our travels, we had not yet found a place like that. We know these places exist of course! There must be TONS in Cali, but we just haven't known where to look. Wine Gallery has everything we missed from home. A great atmosphere and great staff. It seems like the kind of trendy spot younger people would want to hang out at. It has good wines by the glass, delicious pizzas, great options for a cheese and deli plate. The goat cheese and fig bruschetta is the best thing I have had in California. The waitress was extra friendly. And there was a guy performing live music, acoustic renditions of well-known tunes on his guitar. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Last point: if ever you really enjoy a wine, you can take a bottle home. Ask the waitress the cost, apparently they can knock off roughly $20 off the price listed on the menu. read more
