The wine selection is vast, and the staff that I've had the pleasure of meeting are highly knowledgeable about the entire product offering. For some reason they do not like when a customer ask questions and recommendations for various wines & spirits. Seems I am not the only one that gets the eye roll (see other experiences below). Does not makes sense to do when a customer comes into the store to spend a lot of money on gifts for co-workers and the Jackson's staff is arrogant with communications . And it always is the same staff members who have condescending behavior . Maybe the staff should be humble when customers ask questions and suggestions for wine and spirits. Don't they want to sell products? I can just go down the street to BEV MO where the prices are cheaper and staff is helpful. Also, Safeway prices are lower and there is always friendly helpful staff in the wine & spirits aisle. The wine & spirits are the same at both Safeway and Bev Mo so I don't see the point of purchasing from Jackson when it is turns into a horrible experience.

The two pieces of bread that came with it weren't nearly enough to handle the whole dish. The short rib was tender but slightly dry, though the polenta and carrots underneath were a nice touch. Drinks: The tea thyme was a bit too fragrant, almost perfume-like. Tasted fine, but next time I'd probably go boozier instead. The lemonade was plain, but that's to be expected. Ambiance: Quite noisy, with a few TVs going and the bar packed. Understandable for a Friday, but we had to raise our voices to hold a conversation, even at a 5:30 reservation. I think they should have used a more crusty bread, one that will hold the sandwich together. The sandwich fell apart on me and I had to eat it with a knife and fork. We asked for some hot sauce, but the waitress failed to mention that it wasn't free. Who charges for hot sauce anyway? We don't mind paying $1 for it, but at least warn us. Overall, this place had good vibes, the waitstaff was great and attentive and we didn't wait long for the check.

Go here now! LOL! A hairdresser friend told me about Wine Thieves in Lafayette. I have driven my it a million times and never knew it was there. So, this weekend I decided to sop by while stocking up for wine for a dinner party I was hosting. I am thrilled it did! As my friend had mentioned, the selection is huge and the prices are significanty lower than you'll find in grocery stores. Those two facts make the trip to Wine Thieves worth it for me; however, I have to say I was REALLY impressed with the guy who helped me. I wish I had got his name so I could call him out. Sorry! Anyways, he knew his wine and shared information freely. Talked to me about pairings and what would be best for a white wine sangria I plan to make for my next dinner party. Guess what? I'll be back to Wine Thieves for that purchase too! Bottom Line: Hard to find, but you'll be glad you did! read more

I needed some wine to bring to a Seder (thankfully it didn't have to be Kosher) so I decided to take the opportunity to go to the WT wine shop. I walked around for a while before quickly choosing my bottles. I bought 7 total but only 2 were for the Seder. I couldn't help it! I love WTs wine! I don't live close enough to make this my wine store when all I need is a bottle but to stock up on wine this is where you'll find me! Also, the service was friendly and knowledgeable! And as a last point, I went here the day before my birthday and when I made a joke that I must be getting old (38) because the cashier didn't ask to see my ID and then told him it was nearly my birthday he didn't even smile. The helpful staff at Wine Thieves recently set me up with two very reasonably priced and fairly tasty wines. One bottle was to go with a difficult-to-pair with meal I was serving and they did a good job coming up with a complimentary wine, although the selection was something I'd had previously and I was hoping for something new. The wine selection here is good but that's about it. They are really snobby and it made me feel uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it was the owner I was speaking with, but he made me feel like I was bothering him. While I recognize that there is much I don't know about wine, what I do know is that I enjoy it and was attempting to spend money in his establishment!! I am not an expert on the subject but would think selling fraudulent products is an illegal practice and something I would never expect when shopping in my beautiful hometown of Walnut Creek. After purchasing the pods my boyfriend opened them and put one in to use because the outside of the package is basically identical to the authentic Juul packaging and we had no suspicion whatsoever. The taste was WAY off and it began leaking almost immediately. It didn't take much of an investigation to figure out we bought a fake product meant to deceive customers into believing they were buying a trusted product. Not only was the taste completely different, there were differences in the inner packaging, the contents of the fake mango Juul pods were a dark brown color (normally almost clear) and the pods had a very minute difference in shape. We have not used these leaky, gross tasting, and potentially untested/ unsafe pods. This puts us out $30 and feeling like we were scammed. *I have never written less than a 5 star review* and honestly hate to write bad reviews but this really scared me and I hope to prevent others from this experience.

The owner and winemaker greeted us right away and walked us through every pour and the family history behind the label. We did the 5-flight tasting, 12 dollars for 1-ounce pours off a long list of Zinfandels, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Carignan, and more. Here's the part worth knowing: the flight is limited on paper, but he let us re-taste and even poured things not on the list. The 2020 Petite Sirah Hillside and the estate Zinfandels stood out enough for us to take bottles home, and prices were fair. One tasting fee gets applied toward a two-bottle purchase, and it's 20 percent off six or more. Setup is casual and homey. A walk-up wine bar, a front patio with a couple of bistro tables and wine barrels, a single bathroom inside, and a back outdoor area with tables where they run live music when it's happening. The indoor tasting room is cluttered and lived-in, not polished, which honestly fit the vibe. Logistics: park along the road or in the dirt lot across the street, right next to a field of grapes. Look for 4620. If you go to Napa often and assume nothing near home compares, this is a fun, low-key stop worth the detour. Grab the Petite Sirah.

We almost asked them to not even bring out the bread because it had been 45 minutes after ordering before it came to our table. I think we would have been more understanding if it was a busy night but it was the complete opposite. I could have driven all the way to Napa, been served, eaten a full meal, then home with my teeth brushed in bed by 8, but instead I'm at Shadowbrook waiting for my bread. Overall the food was great, the wine was excellent but the service was absolutely horrific! We felt overlooked and unwelcome from the start. Our server barely acknowledged us and gave the impression that we weren't worth her time while serving others next to us with enthusiasm.
