My partner and I work from home, and having someone come in to clean can be super distracting, especially if they need my opinion on every little detail (long story short, previous cleaner asked me about EVERYTHING, even after my male partner made it clear that managing the cleaning was his job). Barry came in once and we did a walk through together to discuss what needed to be done, and now the team comes in and just gets it done without needing my input. I was moving out of a large bedroom apartment in Rockridge, leaving the very next day for Southern California. Barry and his son did a great job on my move-out clean. I swear the old O'Keefe & Merritt stove looked better than when I moved in! When I asked them to please mop the hardwood floors after they were almost done (they were still dusty after vacuuming), it was done without any complaint. I had to schedule a move- out cleaning for my dad's studio, and was pleased to see that Winfield had good ratings, included shampooing, and accepted credit cards. I had the scheduling originally done by a local helper, but once I arrived in Oakland, I called Winfield myself to confirm and get the customer contact name and number switched to me. My call was not returned. While my helper was able to confirm the date and time, and gave them my contact info, Winfield never contacted me personally. On the morning they were due, they showed up 1.5 hours late, which threw off my whole day, stressing me out. their excuse was that they confused me with another customer with a similar first name. Seriously? I was not too impressed at that point. well, the owner was polite and apologetic, and his staff were pleasant and cheerful. I asked if they could clean the window blinds since those were coated with years of dust. they did so, and did not charge me extra. the whole place was done in 2.5 hours, but instead of having me inspect while there was still a person with some cleaning items in the studio, they had already bought everything down to the car. their, when I found 4 areas which were not cleaned, the owner had to go get cleaning tools and a step stool to address this. To his credit, he did so professionally and with good humor. I had to pay by credit card but he had not brought the card reader ( again, if they had called me I would have reminded them I could only pay by credit card), so he took down my card info. the whole mover clean and carpet clean was $250, and I tipped $10 ( would have been more if they had not missed so much the first time!) Overall I would recommend, but I think the owner could improve his customer communication and training of employeesto be more thorough. read more

We met with Mr. Winfield, he gave us an estimate, a time frame, and then we set the appointment. I felt he knew exactly what we wanted and suggested some options for the better. Great attitude and professional. I was pleased by that. They did a pretty good job with most of the house. But for the price, however, there were some big issues with the cleanliness of certain areas. Owner offered to come back out and seemed sincere is his concern but when we both got busy, unfortunately, and missed each other, I found that the last couple voicemails that I left went unreturned and I ran out of time to get the issues resolved. I felt they had forgotten about me and their promise to make things right. I had to re-clean the problem areas myself. Not good for paying top dollar on an already mostly clean and vacant house. My son was moving to a new apartment and wanted to guarantee that he would receive his full security deposit back when he moved. I contacted Winfield Cleaning Services and Mr. Winfield agreed to come by and give us an estimate for the job. His estimate was reasonable for a one bedroom apartment and we couldn't have been happier with the results! Barry arrived with two helpers and several hours later, he called for us to come and inspect the apartment. The place was absolutely immaculate! We had given Barry a list of what the apartment managers would be looking for in terms of cleanliness and there wasn't one thing that wasn't completed. In addition, we had purchased a new set of venetian blinds for the bedroom which he hung for us. Also, Barry provided us an itemized list of what had been done. When the apartment was inspected, the inspector listed things that he felt were not done and was preparing to charge my son for those items. I balked (asked to speak to the manager) and showed him the itemized list of things that Barry had completed. There was nothing he could say so he took the charges off!
