Dr Machado performed a double jaw surgery on me in 2012 - thirteen years ago. I really haven't been able to put into words that he completely changed my entire life. I cannot express enough gratitude and thanks for being able to live the last 13 years happy with my face, after hating looking in the mirror for my entire life prior. Dr Machado is the single most pivotal person in my life after my family. No longer having my appearance be a daily negative factor in my life is best gift I could have ever received. Dr. Machado and his office fought hard for my parents to get the surgery approved through insurance, made a critical last minute decision to go for double jaw surgery instead of having to do two as originally planned, which was so amazing. He was available during my after care and I always felt like I was in good hands and that he was available should I ever need him... which I did a couple years later. My favorite experience was a year or so later when I came back in to get a screw removed - Dr Machado looked at my face and said something to the effect of "I could lowered the top teeth slightly more" - which is something I had considered in passing. I am more than thrilled with my face, its an absolute success by every measure and by any other doctor would be considered 'perfect' - but I am even more appreciative that Dr. Machado cares down the millimeters and scrutinizes your face just as much or more as you do. He is a true artist and a perfectionist. When you undergo this type of surgery you need to have someone you can trust with your appearance, especially in the trying times when you have to wait months to a year for the final result. The urgency and manner in which these services were presented felt more like a sales pitch than a genuine medical recommendation. It was clear that the focus had shifted from preventive care to aggressive upselling. Concerned by the sudden change in my treatment plan and unsure of the validity of their recommendations, I decided to seek a second opinion at a different dental office. The feedback I received there was completely different -- there was no indication of the issues previously mentioned, and none of the suggested treatments were deemed necessary. Another point worth noting: while patients are warned they will be charged for missing an appointment, the same level of accountability doesn't seem to apply to the office -- I waited nearly 30 minutes past my scheduled time many times before being seen. That lack of consideration, combined with questionable treatment practices, was enough to lose my trust. I will not be returning to this office. I encourage anyone considering treatment here to always get a second opinion before agreeing to any additional procedures. Be cautious of high-pressure tactics disguised as urgent care. I had crowns done on the left side of my mouth (back 3 teeth) they took impressions and put them in my mouth without issue. The problem is that Dr. Fakhimi then removed all the anatomy from the newly delivered teeth leaving me with flat, horizontal pegs for teeth. Perhaps it's my fault for telling him my bite felt off, I don't know. It took forever to chew anything and I couldn't figure out why, I then noticed my teeth were flat. I called the office to see if they could use the impression to redo the teeth but they get rid of impressions once the teeth are delivered. I asked if they could use the teeth on the other side as a guide to give anatomy to the other side but apparently that is not a thing. In summary I paid about $5000 (thats with insurance coverage) to Dr. Fakhimi who permanently disfigured my teeth and bite. He does have a soft touch the anesthesia was painless, and grinding my teeth down didn't hurt. If you go to him just don't say your bite feels off because there is no way to fix teeth with no anatomy. Compare the back 3 teeth on the left to the ones on the right. It may not look like a big difference but it will determine if you eat steak again or not.
