Wing Station is a great place with an interesting name. I've been in this town for many years now, and have spent more hours across the street at UTMC/UTCOM/MCO/MUO (whatever you want to call it...) than I have at home. I've been to this plaza for Subway, Tasty Thai, and Doc Watsons, but never to Wings Station. I think what threw me off was the fact that it was called 'Wing Station.' Don't get me wrong, I love wings, but just isn't my calling on an everyday study night or a quick meal between rounds. BUT - that isn't their winning item. Wings Station has maybe one of the best gyros in this town. We have a lot of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean places, and they're good too, but the one here just stood out to me. It tastes fresh, it's made in front of you, and if you want a little extra tzatziki sauce - they hook you up! It's a made to order kind of place, and you really can't go wrong. The concept of gyro is pretty basic, but something you can mess up. If there's something you don't like - let them know and they're do it to it. When you first walk into the place it looks like any other restaurant. No major frills or thrills - just another place to be. Some tables are in front of you and the counter is to your left with an extensive menu up on the wall. They have wings (obviously) and some Mediterranean dishes. I've never had the wings, but I've had a few of the gyros and those are their kicker items. I wouldn't get anything else despite the name. If you read my other posts and check-ins, you'll see that I'm a man who enjoys a good smell. If it says anything about their food - you don't really smell wings, you mostly smell the gyro meat. BUT maybe because that is the more pungent smell (?) who knows? If anything, lets keep Toledo alive. Go to the restaurant and give it a try. It's small and local business that keeps Toledo alive, and well, this is the epitome of it. I don't get too hungry when I write reviews, but this one definitely made my stomach grumble. Well, that could just be because I woke up an hour or so ago and have only had coffee and my stomach is telling me something. Whatever. In time.

Terrible food, even worse service. I expected pretty good wings, given that it's in their name, but no where close. Yuck.

Manos is a Toledo institution…read more There are certain items on Mano's menu that I cannot find anywhere else, and frankly I don't want to. The baked feta... a 1/3 brick of feta broiled with red pepper flakes and olive oil is hands down my favorite way to eat this flavorful cheese. The fact that they use GOOD feta goes a long way to making this a delicious way to start a meal. Spread on bread or pita, it's divine. For me, the go-to entree is the patio platter. I get mine without rice, which means the plate is piled high with green beans, fresh tomatoes, green peppers and Manos' consistently absurdly strong white onions. The sliced sausage is strongly flavored and goes great with the veggies. I've had it more times than practically any other food item in the city of Toledo. All of Manos' vegetarian dishes are sure to please. I love his Spanakopita. Mushier than you may find elsewhere, but it's still delicious. To that point, most dishes feel homemade. Presentation changes based on the day of the week, as does preparation. Same as you'd find at home. The service is always friendly, and if you're lucky enough to get one of the old school waitresses, you're in for some stories if you engage them right. Super friendly even on busy nights, they aim to please. I've been eating at Manos for basically my entire food conscious life and while yes, I've had better greek food elsewhere, there are certain items on Mano's menu that I think are perfect. Combine them with a classic atmosphere, and a lovely patio in the summertime and you have one of my favorite, constant "go to" restaurants in the city of toledo. Not looking for a sit-down meal, and thirsty for some drinks? Head upstairs to the "Attic" bar. They offer the full Manos menu, plus a full bar and friendly service.

While I did not experience the ambiance at Grape Leaf Diner today, I can say from a past visit that the atmosphere is clean, bright with lots of windows, and with comfortable chairs and booths. The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. It was a beautiful presentation and I recommend that you give this restaurant a try! A tip for summer weather: the A/C was cranked up high when I was last there... maybe bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to run cold.

Bit strange, but you have to walk into the left and up the stairs. From there, there's a host stand to get you seated. When I got up the stairs the place was packed for a Thursday late afternoon. This must be a great local spot that no one wants to tell you about. I ordered the Charles & Charles rosé and was delighted by the flavor and not bad for the price. We were thinking of ordering a couple things so we could try them all so we ordered. 1/2 order of the "hommos", 1/2 order of the fatoosh and 1/2 order of the shish. We absolutely loved the hommos, falafel, and fattoosh salad! Three of us ordered the Ara-yes Halabi upon the recommendation of the server and it was a great recommendation, we loved our meals. The last coworker ordered the hamburger (served on a pita) and it was absolutely massive. She enjoyed it and will be able to eat on it for days. I'll definitely be back!
