My sister waited 15 minutes at the table and was completely ignored. The table right next to her came in at the same time but because they spoke fluent Chinese they were given priority and good service. We have never had issues here when we come with my mom (perhaps because she speaks Vietnamese fluently). The waitress does speak English well too though, so I'm not sure what that's about! Came here for lunch with some friends and had the opportunity to try lots of things. I liked the roast duck, jade tofu with mixed mushrooms, and crispy roasted pork the best. I'm not Cantonese so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food here but I looked around and saw many Asian grandmamas so I'm pretty sure this place is good. Service was quick and efficient. One of the best kept secrets in Bellaire. It's a restaurant reminiscent of fufu's that serves cantonese-style food for very reasonable prices in a location with plenty of parking and no chaos. Great lunch specials that run 6 days a week (closed Tuesdays) and portions are good for the price. It is quite small and can get crowded at peak hours but its worth waiting for. The servers are friendly and informative, always nice and efficiently filling cups and rice! There's a rotation of complimentary daily soup with the specials too, which I appreciate. I've only been frequenting this place during lunch but definitely open to trying their dishes at dinner time. My favorite dishes here include the salt & pepper fried tofu or pork chops, fish filet with veggies in black bean sauce, salted fish fried rice, beef chow fun, house special chicken (chilled), and sweet and sour pork. I've never had a poor experience here and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Cantonese Chinese food. The family feel of this establishment has won my heart! So found this little spot through a Facebook group I'm in. Win! Needed to try their roast pork. Word was it was super delicious and super crispy. And ...it was. They sell roast pork, duck, bbq pork by the pound. I did a little over a pound of the crispy pork and bbq pork. They also serve other stand Chinese foods like tofu, pork entrees, beef entrees, fried rice, noodle dishes, etc. Let me first say that skin on the roast pork was amazing. And there was a little bit of fat to offset the meat. If you have ever eaten roast pork, a little fat adds to the flavor. Def going back for more of this! Bbq pork was standard. They put a sauce on it that keeps it most and from drying out. I did appreciate the butcher and the way he cut the meats. Not sloppy and with purpose. I know this sounds weird but sometimes they just chop it without care, he cut the meat to where you got the best mixture. I also ordered the yang chow fried rice and beef chow fun. Both were ok, the beef chow fun was a bit bland. The beef on the chow fun was very tender tho. I added a little Sriracha and that made it aok. Menu was pretty extensive... Highlight was the roasted pork. The meat was tender, but the top was crispy. It didn't have a ton of fatty meat like I see it elsewhere. It was really good. Haven't had it better anywhere else. I don't know the English name of the hua dan beef, but it's basically like eggdrop soup, but on rice. It was delicious. The fried rice was ok. I'm not a fan of lettuce in my friend rice though. Fried oysters we're bad...like all you could taste was oil. Chicken and corn soup was okay, but needed a little salt. We came in really late, but they didn't mind. Decent service and very clean for the end of a day. Based on the first two dishes alone, I would certainly back. We brought my parents here for dinner and it was a success. Expect amazing food, prepared Cantonese style. The crispy pork was juicy and addictive. It's a good thing we came for an early dinner because 30 min after we got it, they were sold out. The salt and pepper squid is a must have appetizer. Soy sauce noodles were a perfect salty carb with some cabbage mixed in. I really wanted to order the soft tofu dish with Japanese mushroom, but my mom preferred the fried tofu with shrimp and mixed veggies. It was satisfying and had a layer of thick sauce. Came here pretty skeptical cause the area doesnt look too impressive but boy oh boy is food delicious! Been here quite a few times and the flavor is great! I recommend: the salted fish fried rice salt and pepper squid walnut shrimp and their BBQ meats ( i THINK its cash only) the peking duck was DECENT i think there are other places but once thing they do different is that they use the whole duck. so after they bring you the chopped skin and meat they throw the bones in a soup and bring it to you aswell. give it a try! read more

Food is authentic and full of flavor. Most of the wait staff don't speak the greatest English and that's how you know it's really good. I simply showed them pictures of what I wanted and they knew exactly what it was. Portions are generous as well! How rude can you be to drop off the check less than 3 minutes after you dropped off the food. Just to say, "my cashier needs to close" even though it was about 30 minutes before closing. The attitude the waitress gave us just because we only ordered 1 thing. Water cup extremely dirty. Meat was tossed in the microwave and then given to us right in front of us. Roasted pork was salty. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, we wanted to support local restaurants and came here because we've ordered roasted pork to-go before and really enjoyed it. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and shared an order of 2 bbq meats with rice. We got the roasted pork and roasted duck. Both had a ton of flavor with nice crispy skin. The only thing I wish was that it would come out warm at least, because both were cold. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be, but I normally at other restaurants, roasted pork and duck would be warm or hot. Besides that, I would say my overall experience was positive. Not sure how long Wing Kee has been around, but when the gf and I noticed this new location with a "Grand Opening" sign in the same plaza as Egg Custard King, and a full crowd of people inside plus more people waiting outside, our curiosity was piqued enough to give it a try. Despite being a Cantonese restaurant, there were quite a few dishes I wasn't familiar with. We played it safe and ordered the Pork Ribs w/ Spicy Salt. But our adventurous side also kicked in and we decided to get the Beef and Egg on Rice, and the XO Stir Fry. The Pork Ribs w/ Spicy Salt were hot, crispy, and not spicy at all, which was a plus for me. They usually don't end up being much spicy at all anyways at other restaurants. The Beef and Egg on Rice took us a bit by surprise, because the egg was raw and buried underneath the Meat Sauce. We found the flavor quite enjoyable and appetizing after mixing it all together. The Xo Stir Fry turned out to be our favorite. The fried anchovies were quite delightful, tossed into a mixture of chives, carrots, radish, and other veggies. The reviews were mixed so we decided to try this place anyway to see for ourselves. The restaurant gets loud easily. There were only two waitresses working during lunch and I had to go all the way to the back of the restaurant to get someone to seat me after about 5 minutes of standing around being ignored. One of the waitress was okay while the other was very rude and abrupt. She walked away a couple times before we could even finish a sentence. We ordered the char siu, roast pork belly, half a duck and garlic snow pea leaves. The char siu portion was surprisingly small. The pork was tender and juicy but too sweet for my liking. The skin on the pork belly was perfect but overall the pieces were too salty. The duck was not flavorful but the plum(?) sauce certainly helped. If you like Roast pork, this is definitely the go-to place. The meat is juicy and tender and the skin is extremely crispy. Kudos to the chef. The next time I am there, I will try to bribe the wife to get the recipe. Roast duck was another excellent dish. Has some sweetness to the saltiness. Somehow, Cantonese has a knack for roasting. The Fried Rice was ok...it lack the wok taste. The vegetable Tofu with mushroom was recommended by the server, who I suspect could be the wife. She was extremely helpful and pleasant. We love it as we have a mixture of different type of greens. This place is as home as it gets as it reminds of Cantonese food that my parents might make growing up, if my parents were good cooks. Wing Kee is not the largest of restaurants but they definitely do have the authentic vibes down. It also helps that their lunch specials are really cheap and portioned right to not give you a food coma, but will have you leaving full. We got three items to try and left very full - the stir fried green beans, salt and pepper pork chop and the flat noodle in black bean sauce. The stir fried green beans are crisp tender with some meat/vegetable stir fried into it that gives it a bit of umami that is a great palate cleanser for the other stuff. I really liked the salt and pepper pork chop - crisply fried with hints of five spice and garlic. If you're hungry and just want a massive portion, the noodles are the best bang for the buck. Slithery rice noodles coated in not too salty a funky black bean sauce with tender beef and some peppers. Entrees also come with a rice bin so you'll definitely be full. One star for the service. We ordered in Cantonese so it wasn't misunderstanding. We went in for lunch and one of the things we ordered was S21 off of the lunch menu. They told us it "wasn't on the lunch menu" and we would have to pay the dinner price, which would have been fine if they actually gave us what we ordered. They gave us the wrong dish and when we let them know that this isn't what we ordered, they refused to fix their mistake. Today we came by to get roasted pork and noticed the old lady was getting the burnt parts of the pork so we ask her to remove it before she weighed it but she refused and have attitude towards us then we told her to get us another big piece together they weighed 2.9 almost 3 pounds out of frustration we bought it and left but later when we get home there was only one cup of sauce the whole thing weigh 2 pounds we paid $42 for that. I originally thought the 5.99 lunch special was for individual dish that comes with individual rice but their portions are all family style! First and probably last time here. The roast pork, (probably the best I've ever had), roast duck, and sautéed snow pea leaves were good, but all the other dishes were kinda flavorless. The reason why I won't be back is due to sanitation. I'm not sure if they were mouse or roach droppings but, while I was getting a high chair for my kiddo, I noticed droppings was covered in it. I grabbed a booster seat instead. Then when I went to the restroom and walked out, I notice the metal shelving in the hallway had more droppings. Talk about an appetite killer. My wife had heard from a friend that this restaurant was pretty good! That they had good lunch specials so as we in the area, we decided to give it a try. This restaurant is more of a Cantonese style restaurant which is blander than perhaps your Szechuan or Hunan style cuisine of which I am more used to. They do have lunch specials which are served family style and they are $5.50. The lunch specials come with a soup which in our case was an egg drop with pieces of corn in it. It was pretty good. The plates that come out for the lunch special are pretty generous and they bring you a tub of white rice with the meal which you can get refills on, no charge. The service was pleasant, the food came out fast and it was fresh and good. Bland..yes...but good. If your stomach is not made for spicy cuisine which is usually what you get when you go to a Szechuan or Huna style restaurant ten maybe Wing Kee would be more suitable for you. The pricing is outstanding! The service is very good and the food is fresh and served in a timely manner. The restaurant is located in the Alief area and is pretty spacious inside. I've gone here for dinner a few times but never for lunch. During the week they have lunch specials for $6 and you get a full pot of rice with entrees too. I came with a friend on a Monday and we got flat noodles with beef and black bean sauce and the ma po tofu. The noodles were hidden under all the toppings and sauce but were yummy. The ma po tofu isn't spicy at all here but they have sriracha and chili oil you can add. I was just craving that a lot.
