Dropped in on a Tuesday when it was Music Bingo with Kevin. He was pretty cool and funny. Lots of fun, I might add. Wish there were more people. No, I didn't win out of eight possible wins, darn it. Lol. They have a gaming area with six games. Parking is limited by the main entrance. But there's 2 hour street parking. The bartender was nice, too. U shapped bar with about 16 seats, and then there's six counter high tables. Food.....omg I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Lol. So, I ordered the chicken strips. Uh folks, these things were huge, the first I've ever seen in a bar. Tasty, they were with the house sauce. Thin batter and very moist. I also ordered the fries. A mistake on my stomach, I couldn't eat them all and they were big Crinklecut crunchy fries. Everyone I asked in the bar eating said their food was excellent. So I can imagine the rest of the food. Eugene, one of the owners, was cooking. He was also pleasant to talk to. I saw their wings and they looked yummy as well. Be advised that none of their chicken is frozen pre-battered. Hint hint. Is why it's so good. It doesn't appear there's anything on tap if that's important to you. Drinks were a good pour, but don't expect them to have everything. They have a DJ playing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's; which gets a decent crowd according to the bartender. It's a mixed crowd when it comes to age. Overall, there's nothing negative to really say about this bar, and that's very rare for me. I will revisit because of the atmosphere and food. Locals need to visit this place often. Great job, Railhouse.

I like it best in cooler fall months with a good dark or Oktoberfest brew but it is busy year round. The service is consistently competent. The food is always good and there is always something interesting on tap or to be mixed--and at still relatively reasonable prices. Value to price ratio greater than one. The outside patio/bar is also a nice place to eat/hang out at the tables or bar though the seating around the fire pit can be a little unsavory and could use some maintenance or changing it out more often. Tip: if there is a band on the patio you may want to take a pass sitting out there because every band thinks their stuff is so good we want to hear it with amps at "11", and with the patio between two hard brick surfaces, you can't have a conversation. Nevertheless, Emil's is always a go to.

Unfortunately it's not very clean... so that's not a very appealing choice. Dirty tables, sticky floor, empty boxes strewn about. It doesn't show much care for the business, which is a huge red flag. They have a very limited menu and it's not very logical. We had the broasted chicken, a two piece, and the number 2 meal. So the broasted chicken was good. The piece weren't as big as I would have liked but had good flavor and doneness. The tender that came with my meal was quite good, the spice level was accurate for my heat level choice which is hard to achieve. It was a bit on the salty side. The slider... first of all this is not a slider, it's basically a full sized chicken sandwich. It was overdone. Good flavor but tough. The fries were fine, nothing special but not bad. They have pictures on the wall that don't represent their actual food. I always hate when businesses use these generic stock photos. They even have a poster for a latte they don't actually have on the menu. Everything was made fresh at least, it didn't take too long to come out but it was obviously prepared to order. If they would clean up a bit and work on their inconsistencies I could see ordering here regularly, but as it stands I won't be back for a while.

It took about 10 minutes from ordering for our food to be ready. Everything was made to order. On the whole, we got exactly what we expected. A generously loaded wrap, fresh, bun-less burger loaded with toppings, and more tater tots than we knew what to do with. The salt and pepper shakers in the table could use a good cleaning, they were grimy. And our table quickly ran out of napkins. But no other complaints.

We got a fountain drink to share but every drink they had was a bit watered down so we got an ice tea. Which ended up being fine from the fountain. The burger was huge, and I was full after about 1/3 of the way in. It was an okay burger, it got rather greasy and a bit heavy to finish. But the fries were crispy and perfectly salted. I ate one of the Mac and cheese bites and it was piping hot. The flavor wise was more like boxed mac and cheese and was a bit hard to eat. Overall we had a decent experience. I may consider coming back if I'm in the area again.

My go-to flavors are the Cheesking and the Mala Spicy--both are packed with flavor. For me, the real standout for me was the tteokbokki. The sauce is incredible--it has a mild sweetness from tamarind that really elevates the whole dish and keeps you coming back for more. I'd honestly come back just for that sauce! I had to order one to go. The chef even came out after our meal to check in and offered candy to all the kids. Such a thoughtful touch--great hospitality all around. The crunch that Korean fried chicken has, always amazes me. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. I really appreciate that they use boneless THIGHS and not chicken breast. The chicken THIGH meat is dark meat and juicy, while white meat just drys out so easily and fast. The Kimchi Fried rice was good too. It's got a little heat on it, but when you eat the cold pickled daikon with it, it has a nice balance. If I'm ever back in Great Lakes IL, I'll doubleback fasho! Might be hittin this place one more time before I leave! My only constructive criticism would be to allow 2 flavors on the 10 piece and higher. I could only get 1 flavor, and there were so many that sounded good, I would've loved to have tried 2 flavors.
