Their known for their wings. They're large and meaty but flavor wise you must rely on sauce. Very little seasoning. Next time I'd try several sauces to find one I love. Chili was really good but don't get the cheese on it. They're using the cheese you'd find cheesy fries. The texture on chili is not very good. I'd much prefer shredded cheese. This place has been on my radar for years. Today a buddy and I were in the area at lunchtime, and decided to stop in for some wings. I'm so glad we did! The inside is loaded with sports memorabilia - mostly Buffalo Bills stuff, but some Bears stuff as well. The owner is from Buffalo, and this place is known for Buffalo wings so I get it. We both ordered a pound of wings with their traditional hot sauce. The sign says: "Your girl friend can handle it", but I'm pretty sure my girl could not. They were delicious but definitely had some heat. These are some of the best wings in Chicagoland! But don't take my word for it: Franks is in the National Buffalo Wings Hall of Fame! I was recommend to visit here from many people. Finally stopped in, and now I see why people hype it up. It was delicious! We called in our order and it was ready when we arrived in about 10 mins. Small little spot with a few booths inside. Kind and quick service. Food was very fresh and smelt amazing. Tasted even better! Crispy and juicy, full of flavor. We went with the garlic, bbq and medium and they were all great. As a self proclaimed ranch connoisseur, the ranch was so creamy and paired perfectly with the wings. Highly recommend this spot. I hadn't been here in... I'd say at least 15 years. When I was younger I used to eat here quite often and I'm glad to say that the wings hold up. I had the medium spicy wings and they were just like I remembered. Crispy and saucey. They should really give you wet-naps, your going to need a face wash when your finished. The place has barely changed physically, it's a real throwback to a simpler time. I also had some mac&cheese wedges which were great, they were a nice break from the heat of my Buffalo wings. First visit for my husband. We tried the wings with hot and mild buffalo sauce, cheeseburger and zucchini sticks. First the cheeseburger, freshly made, soft bun and crisp veggies. Second the zucchini sticks, great fry and size similar to a French fry cut. The zucchini were tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Lastly , the wings. We got the hot and mild buffalo sauce. We also asked that the fry on the wings be extra crispy. Both sauces were very good and the cook was perfect, which I highly recommend since they are not breaded. Next time and yes there will be a next time we will try the extra hot AND the suicide sauce. I've been going to Buffalo Joes in Evanston for um...thirty years now? And SuperDawg is my gold-standard for a Chicago-style hot dog. Franks has got that thing. Dog was lean, charbroiled and perfect toppings. The wings were great. I asked for well-done and these came shy of what I expect, but they were very good. It's been nine years since my last review about this tiny wing shack but it hasn't been that long since I've been here. When I'm in the area I come here for the New York Sabret grilled hot dogs. I'm a big fan of them. They do put ketchup on them but you can hold it for the typical Chicago style fixins'. I haven't had the wings for some time because of the hot dogs but there are every bit as good as any I've ever had which includes Gators which I love. The fact that they've been here on this sort of off the beaten path of Hawley street should say something about it's food. For dogs and wings this is a must stop. In times where small businesses need attention I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Honestly the food wasn't terrible or bad but nothing was great which is what made my whole experience so disappointing. At ordering my amount was messed up cause I was overcharged an extra ranch which is fine. I looked at my receipt to find out that for one SMALL Drink, 8 boneless wings, one SMALL fries and apparently 2 ranches came to $18.09?!? I know everything is going up in price but wow the fries were small and nothing was special about them and the wing flavor which was "hot" was just acidic.. how can I recommend this when just for a few dollars extra you can go to Buffalo Wild Wings for endless wings/fries and they actually have great flavor selection. I was waiting on a client to show up nearby and they told me if I wanted lunch I should go across the street to Franks For The Memories for wings! Walked on over and was addressed by the cool ass lady behind the counter. I asked her about the Buffalo NY style wings nd she said they were legit. I asked her about which sauce I should get and she steered me to mild in which she said that was the most popular. I went with the 4pc (1lb) for about $4 and some change and it was pretty good. I added blue cheese and celery (4 pc) for $1 which I thought was interesting...I guess I understand the charge as some places give it to you for free and people throw it out and waste it. I sat inside since it was too wet to sit on the outdoor patio because of the recent rain. They also have a good wifi. Good spot that has what seems to be lots of goodies such as burgers, dogs, curly fries and all the greasy spoon luxuries! Get here as its a 5 min walk from the Metra if you're nearby. read more

My husband always gets the medium buffalo wings and the wings are fried perfectly then doused and tossed in the sauce. I don't like spicy so I have come to really enjoy the teriyaki. So this used to be a go to wing place for my husband. We came here and inside of the door is a sign that says the price of chicken has doubled. Okay, fine we understand with the pandemic and whatnot. My husband ordered 14 wings, bleu cheese, and celery. $30 for this tiny amount of food! We should have gone to a steakhouse for a bone in ribeye instead. The food is good, but it's not five Michelin star good. Just a warning that you're going to pay a premium for this "Kobe chicken". Cute little place, I read these are the best wings in IL and said well I have to stop. First off, ever get that feeling you are walking into a place that like prob 10 years ago was amazing and either the owner is now checked out or moved on? That how I felt! This guys (kid) thing was to be a asshole I guess. Let's get down to the wings, when they come man are they sauced like puddles of sauce. I have to give credit where credit is due...wings are fried to crispy perfection and managed to stand up to the insane amount of sauce. I don't like my wings over sauced I will admit. I had 2 sauces (sadly only 1 sauce per LB)..Hot and Golden. Let's start with the hot....it's not hot, like not even a little hot...maybe the best Buffalo Sauce I've ever had but no heat left with a whole lot of meh. Next on to the Golden again nice sauce sweet and tangy just missing something. Now dressing as we all know its can take a wing from meh to whoa...sadly both the ranch and blue cheese were basic as hell... Frys had no seasoning whatsoever had no flavor and brought nothing to the experience. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but my overall experience was very underwhelming, sad to say because I love to pull for the little guy.. The way people talk about this place, I must have come on am off night or something. The wings were mediocre at best. Overcooked fries. Less than appealing brat.
