This place is not it, you seriously can't trust a KC person on wing recommendations. I am not sure what Albany, NY style Buffalo wings are. I am born and raised in NY and never heard of this. They are over priced 26 bucks for 12 wings? That's nuts especially when they come out cold. The sauce is good, the wings are meaty but they still can't lay a hand on Al's in Parkville. Now I like wings, and these did not disappoint! We ordered a number of things from the menu. 24 wings including, lemon pepper, garlic ranch, bourbon, and smoked Sriracha. They were all so flavorful as perfect temperature. My favorite seasoning is lemon pepper and this one ranks top in the area. Our sides consisted of macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries and mozzarella sticks. Disappointed that you only get 4 sticks and they were good not great but good. Macaroni and cheese was pleasantly seasoned well and creamy. Finally, the fries were crispy and but the sauce was just too sweet for my likening. I would have preferred them without. I was craving wings and had been disappointed in the past but not this time. I tried Wing Cafe and I can't wait to get another order. My personal criteria for good wings are that they're a decent size, have great flavor and are still juicy. This place got nearly all of them perfectly. I ordered the 18 bone-in chicken wings that came to about $25. I skipped the $1.25 online ordering free and just went to the shop. It's in a stripmall next to a Christian science reading room and a local bar. It's a very casual place with paper towel rolls on the tables and a stand with water and utensils. Looking at the menu in-store they offer a lot of things you don't find on their online menu including lunch specials and a limited chicken and waffles going on right now. For my first time I got the spicy dry, buffalo wet and the slap yo mama based on these reviews. When I got home with my order I was very happy. All of the wings were a good size, some of the drummettes were the size of drumsticks I've gotten at other places. They keep the tips on the wings which I like because half the joy of wings is the tasty skin and sauce. The dry spicy was actually spicy and I like the heat. It hits you right away then disappates. The slap yo mama tasted very Cajun with a decent spice but not overly hot. The wet buffalo was good. Not overly vinegary like many places and not that wet. Sloppy wings are not a good look. They could've been a hotter for me. Service was quick and it took about to 10-15 minutes to get my order. Staff were quick and efficient. Wings Cafe on Englewood is amazing! Be sure you choose that location! I get the tenders and fish both of which are excellent! So many sauces and dry rubs to choose from the firecracker and Durango are my favorites on the chicken and the Chex mix on the fish. Fries, slaw, and jalapeño poppers are good sides and the Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries are my family favorites get the drizzle on the sweet potato fries! I highly recommend this place but avoid the Broadway location which is closer to me. At that location they forget sides and most aggravating they substitute sauce flavors without asking or offering you a choice even when you stand there over twenty minutes waiting for your food. I've been there 4 times and it's happened 3 times. Doubt I will try again. Parking at the Englewood location is also better read more

I tried the spicy version of it, spicy or kickin chicken, I can't recall. And it was a good amount of spice! I like spice that makes me/people cry. My boyfriend could only eat one. But it was flavorful and crispy! We've also tried and enjoyed Honey BBQ. Spicy sriracha was also nice, probably liked it as much as Honey BBQ. Sides! This was the first time I liked Mozz Sticks! My boyfriend loves this place. I think it's just ok. I've been four times and have had consistent experience so I'm confident in this review. Disclaimer: Since I'm not really a bone in wing person I usually go for boneless wings, so this review is based on those. Positives: I do like the selection of sauces and dry rubs as well as choice of sides. From a critical standpoint, my biggest concern is value and dryness. The boneless "wing" is about 1 by 1.5 inch chunk of chicken breast coated in a VERY thick breading and deep fried (think Orange chicken from Panda Express but with breast meat and more uniform size). If you like your wings to be on the dry side and have more bread than chicken, this place is for you! However, for the price you pay, i would expect more than a glorified heavily breaded chicken nugget. For one sixth the price, I can fire up my oven and make lightly breaded chicken breast chunks from Costco which are not as dry and have more intrinsic chicken flavor. Only downside to doing that is I wouldn't have these awesome sauce selections. Note: if you are ordering boneless wings and you dislike dry chicken, make sure you pick one of the wet sauces!!! Last time, I tried the chicken sandwich, which turns out to be a few overcooked chicken tenders on a bun. (It was so dry my boyfriend couldn't even eat it and he loves this place!) I had to add quite a bit of Mayo out of my fridge to make it edible. Once again, if you dislike dry chicken, make sure you pick one of the wet sauces to go on your chicken sandwich also! So my three stars are mainly because I like that this is a local business, and for the variety of sauces and sides. Wouldn't go out of my way to find this place, but wouldn't turn it down if someone brought me lunch from here! read more

So clearly, I have some catching up to do! I thought I'd start with 24 wings. It seemed like a good number and there was also a special deal including two large sides. That sounded cool and I said I'd have some wings left foot the next day. Um, not so much. Those wings did not stand a chance! The SLAP YO MOMMA wings are even better than advertised. They were so good, I had impure thoughts. The flavor of the breading was amazing! The wings are also incredibly tender and overall just freaking delish!! In addition to slapping my momma, I also had the Garlic Ranch, Golden BBQ and Sweet Thai. The wet wings are also phenomenal because you can actually TASTE THE MEAT!! I don't care for wings drowning in sauce. With Wings Cafe, not only will their seasonings put you over the edge, the meat itself is tender, juicy and succulent. I had the slaw and baked beans for the sides. The slaw was great and the beans were fantastic!! Even as good as the wings are, I really wasn't expecting much with the sides. Clearly, I was wrong. Wow. I've had a LOT of wings the last 20 years, some good, some not-so-good. These were fantastic. I heard about this place today, and from the description, had to make a detour on the way home (opposite direction actually). I was not disappointed. The wing flavors are broad, various spice levels, meaty just right (not the wimpy ones from BBW), and are extremely reasonably priced. As for the taste...well, you get your choice of 8 "dry" rubs and 12 "wet" sauces to choose from. I tried one of each, based on popularity: the "Slap Yo Mama" dry rub, and the "Durango" wet. Both amazing and unique flavor. The prices are broken down a zillion different ways so you can get just what you want. And they even post "Large Order" pricing from 50 up to 200, with lower costs for quantity. Lastly, they do have chicken strips and shrimp on the menu, and a ton of side choices. As for the place itself, it's very simple, in a strip mall, very clean, and most importantly every one of the people that works there were incredibly friendly. Like wings? You'll love this place. Easily the best wings in town! They have many options for sauces, both wet and dry flavors. There was lengthy conversation with the cashier regarding the different flavors as I waited to see if they had a shirt available (if you buy a tshirt for $12.99, you get 6 wings with it). This appeared to create some confusion as I didn't get the correct wings. Outside of this, the service was amazing! Extremely friendly, but not in that annoying trying to hard way, very sincere. I tried the firecracker and the durango. My original order was for the firecracker and shanghai bourbon. I did not even know I received the wrong thing until I was eating and one of the employees stopped to check on me. She promptly got me some of the sauce so I could taste the shanghai. All three were amazing! The firecracker has a hint of sweet with mild heat, the durango had a bit more heat but also a sweet hint, the shanghai sauce was sweet without much heat. The wings are meaty which is a plus over most wing places. As I enjoyed the wings I told one of the employees that they need a south KC location. I was pretty happy to learn that they have a location opening in Westport this fall. (They would still be a great addition to Troost as their next location!) Forget all other wing places. Wings Cafe in Gladstone is LEGIT! As good as wangs get imo! The young lady at the counter greeted us with a smile & was very helpful explaining the menu & sauces. They offer lots of wet sauce flavors plus quite a few dry rubbed options. All their wings are lightly breaded, very crispy & good PLAIN. Everything was cooked to order. So the food took a little longer, but came out piping HOT! We ordered the sauce on the side cause my parental units don't like buffalo wings & are just stubborn (smdh, lol). So we got the dry rubbed, Slap Yo Mama, which were flavorful & had a little kick that did in fact make me want to slap her! Then on the side we got Sweet Thai (garlicky, sweet goodness), Honey Jalapeño (tasted like the best jalapeño jelly) & Shanghai Bourbon (a very unique bourbon sauce). All 3 sauces were excellent and finger lickin, lip smackin good! All are also made in house according to the cook who I think might have been the owner. The cole slaw was very good!
