I'd like to give it 4.5 but unable to do so. Had the hot buffalo wings and the slap yo mama wings. Buffalo were awesome-spicy, slap were good but maybe a bit on salty side. French fries were great with a house seasoning. Order plain chicken tenders which were juicy and tasted great but a little on the stringy side. I have been cursed! (queue tribal drums) Because I can't stop thinking about the "Voo-Doo" wings at Wings Café! I headed to Wings Café for lunch and was hoping to get in and out quickly beings I work a few miles away. When I arrived they place was clean and the staff ready to serve me. I scanned the menu (which includes fish and chicken options, as well as dry-rubs and "wet" sauces) and selected 12 wings (6 Voo-Doo and 6 Honey BBQ) with a side of fries. I waited roughly 4-8 minutes and my food came out fresh and delicious! The crinkle cut fries were more than likely frozen but they were very good, but the wings are amazing! Large full wings (some drummies) slathered in sauce. The Voo-Doo was a fantastic sauce a little sweet with a lot of heat! The Honey BBQ were a good cool down in between Voo-Doo wings. I was in and out in plenty of time to get back to work. But the rest of the day I was under the spell of those Voo-Doo wings and could not stop thinking about them! I might have to search Yelp for a witch doctor to be cured or better yet just eat at Wings Café more often! read more

I have to admit, I'm a bit of a wing snob. In the sense that I do not like the hassle and mess of wings unless they are absolutely worth it! These are the BEST wings I've had in KCMO or really anywhere. They are seriously packed with flavor and fall right off the bone! I've never had a bad experience here. The staff is always amazing and helpful. The wings are way up there for me! I'm a huge wing fan, maybe a bit of a connoisseur. I always recommend this place to anyone looking for a good spot to grab some great food North of the river. Plenty of flavors to try or if you're just looking for "classic buffalo" this is the place. Their side dishes are delicious as well. I like to get the french fries with the "slap yo mama" rub and the mac & cheese is addicting. Just posted a photo of the new menu. This place is hands down the best wings you could ever get. The honey BBQ, I literally dream about their boneless honey BBQ. The meat is tender and actual real chicken, and have never had someone tell us these aren't the best wings they've ever had. Also the corn nuggets are so delicious. Just breaded sweetened corn fried up into some nuggety goodness. Definitely recommend. The location is small and kinda sketchy, but don't let that deter you from the best wings you'll ever have! read more

I made an online order for curbside pickup. It was scheduled to be ready between 6:51 and 7:01. This was my first visit to Wings Cafe. when I arrived around 6:55 there was no curbside parking so I went into the restaurant. I checked in with the cashier and told her I had curbside order but since there was no parking I came in. she checked my order and said it would be ready in 4 minutes. 25 minutes later I still didn't have my order. if I hadn't already paid I would have left. I didn't get an apology from either employee I spoke to. I left with my food at 7:30. was home by 7:40 and the food was cold. very disappointed and will not be back. read more

I'be waited on hold for 20 minutes, when I'm hung up on. I call my husband who drove down there while I was on hold. When he answers he says, "I know, she hung up on you". he had just walked in... then he starts to place our order, screen shot from what we put in the order on the online platform. (there was a cost difference between the in person order and what was the online platform price). The counter person had no explanation for that, nor did she ask anyone, she simply said... well thats the price you have to pay. I absolutely LOVE Wings Cafe. With the name, you think it's just wings.. dead wrong! To be honest, they have the best fried fish in KC! Now don't get me wrong, the wings are heat, couldn't even tell you how many flavors they have because it's a lot and all excellent.. but the fish! So damn good I have to go at least once a week for my fix. And they have great sides.. fried okra, amazing sweet potato fries w a yummy drizzle, slaw, mac n cheese.. just to name a few. What a complete disappointment. After reading the reviews on Yelp and another local food forum I decided to try this place. I went with the 4 piece 2 side chicken finger dinner. The chicken was not fried fresh. It was not hot and juicy as one would expect from fingers fresh out of the fryer. Instead it was warm and dry.The breading was so hard it made a jawbreaker feel like a marshmallow. The spice selection was Slap Yo Momma and Smoked Sriracha. There was nothing wrong with them. The sides I chose were coleslaw and mac n' cheese. Again nothing wrong with them The beer was cold. The fingers ruined the whole experience. There is no way I'll try them again. I've been coming here since the place opened. It's been a while since I've been in. Where I used to tell everyone I knew about this place and they must try it- I can't suggest it now for the following reasons... 1) Rude Staff. It used to be a family owned atmosphere that really cared about the patrons. Now there are workers that don't care and have no greeting and follow through skills. In fact, the short guy at the register with the reddish hair and beers was just plain rude and seemed put out and impatient. 2. Wing sizes are much smaller 3. Prices have more than doubled for less food. I realize food prices have increased, but other places that serve chicken haven't gotten this expensive. I believe this establishment is capitalizing on the fact and using increased food prices to drastically increase their prices more than it needs to be. For the prices (6 bone in wings and two sides costing 18 bucks) - a person can go to a steak house for that and get a full meal with waiters that serve with a smile and provides a full meal. On a positive note- the flavors are good. But unfortunately, all of the other negatives don't justify me ever returning- and I can't in clear conscious recommend this place to eat to my friends like I once did. It's very sad. Owners- bring back good quality employees. Not just ones that seem put out by customers- that border on having a "punkish" type attitude. If it continues- despite your high prices, you will continue to lose business. read more

Though I'm unconvinced that this is the 'best' wings in KC (or that they're better than BWW, yikes I said it!)--I do think of Wings Cafe when I'm in the mood for some good wings. What boosts them to 4 stars is the quality of service and accuracy of my carry-out orders. They're quick, usually around 10-15mins, and great about answering my questions. Last time, I ordered 12 wings and 3 sides, so with tax, that put me just under $22 (not including tip). Not bad for 2 people! I'm more of a dry rub person - their cajun seasoning was terrific, but you do run the risk of the wings being dryer overall as compared to the wet rub. I like the crunch of slightly crispy wings. I've had 3 other flavors, but they didn't stand out (didn't care for honey BBQ). Going to be more adventurous next time. Their fries and jalapeño poppers are good sides, but say no to mozzarella sticks (didn't come with any sauce). Overall, I'm glad the Northland has Wings Cafe! read more

We had a tire issue that was being resolved at the local tire shop. We asked for recommendations and the Wings Cafe was the suggestions. Wow. I was a little skeptical when I went in the door. I was afraid it was a restaurant that was set up for prepackaged food. We had the Bone in wing and Buffalo wing sauce. Very spicy but delicious. We ordered the Scarface Buffalo Fries.... they are drizzled with ranch, garlic Parmesan and cheese. Very delicious. We also had the Mac n cheese. I am very picky about Mac n cheese and honestly figured they would just make instant. NO. It was a creamy, delicious homemade Mac n cheese with a hint of garlic. I did a previous update a while back that was scathing due to a big mistake on their end with an order I had made. I decided to delete that update and provide a new one that was positive. I've not had any issues since then, and in fact I've come to quite enjoy their food even more. I personally recommend their strips a bit more than their wings, especially if you do dry rub seasoning, as the flavor just overall seems to pop more. Slappin' yo mama never tasted so good! You Yelpers convinced me to give Wings Cafe a try, and I'm sure glad I did. These wings are awesome. I mean, like, really awesome. As others have noted, they're lightly breaded and perfectly fried to have a crisp outside and tender, juicy inside. The sauce flavors are delicious. My personal favorite was the Slap Yo Mama dry rub, but the voodoo and durango were also kicking my taste buds into high gear. It's true that the fries are the frozen, crinkle-cut variety, but this is about as good as frozen fries get. They're nice and crispy and don't have any awful freezer taste to them - i.e., they taste freshly made. I heartily recommend adding the slap yo mama or garlic parmesan seasoning to them for some serious flavor. The place itself is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall and is really tiny. However, it certainly isn't cramped, and the staff were exceptionally pleasant. They were very patient as I hungrily bumbled through my order, changing my mind a bazillion times. This is a townie joint, to be sure. I could go on, but the rub is this: Wings cafe is in a bitter contest with The Peanut for best wings in the city. If you want a flavor other than the traditional hot sauce/butter, you're pretty much forced to go to Wings Cafe, and that is definitely not a bad thing. as much as I tried to eat healthy, I always give myself a cheat day to just maintain my mental health. Upon checking yelp, I discovered this pleasant wings joint that, to my delight, is worth multiple visits in the future, indefinitely. My girlfriend and I decided to go with sriracha and chinese bourbon flavors, along with jalepeno poppers and some fried okra, because we need to have a balanced meal ok? Even if it means pursuing it down the path of darkness. The wings were freshly made and fried just the right amount of time. Not only was the exterior crispy, but the meat themselves were juicy, a sure tell sign that wings were done right. The side dishes were also freshly made, as they nearly burned me had I not been very careful about biting into them. Not sure if I am a fan of jalapenos combined with cheese, but I can see some people enjoy the concept. To my utmost surprise, this wings joint is actually very clean! Usually in joints that serve fried menu, the place would usually be filled with smell of grease. However, in this case, it is barely noticeable. Each table also got ample amount of paper towels to ensure that your ravaged hands will return to the light of cleanliness at the end of the day. Not only was the food good, but the service was exceptional as well. The staff was friendly and easily approachable, making my first visit to this place a very comfortable one. Why am I just now going to this place?! The Hubby loves wings so I suggested Wings Cafe for lunch. Oh. My. Word. He's hooked. The guys behind the counter are friendly and helpful. We got a variety of dry and wet wings. My dry garlic ranch wings were awesome. Perfectly cooked. I got the house made coleslaw and it was yummy, sweet-crunchy goodness. The dry cajun wings were at our limit of spicy (we gotta work our way up to VooDoo!) but so flavorful and delicious. The wet buffalo wings were better than other wings my husband has had including...wait for it...the Peanut's wings and Grinder's. GASP! This is just a little hole in the wall place in a strip mall with Real Jalisco and Leo's Pizza, but it's just the kind of place we love.
