Dirty salt and pepper shakers
Danielle H.

I wanted to love this place...TikTok video said it was the best wings in KC, they lied! Pros - fries were hot and fresh Cons -The young adults who work there need a supervisor. I felt like I was interrupting their kickback. They were in the kitchen having a great time! -Basa is NOT catfish! The cashier tried to convince me it was. -The ketchup, salt, and pepper shakers were filthy, we picked the cleanest ones and still it was gross. -Water was empty. -If I order wings...why is there a charge for ranch?? I can see if I get extra ranch...but wings and ranch are a combo deal. -The tables needed to be wiped down as well.

wayyy better boneless wings than buffalo wild wings! we ordered the 12 wings and one side combo around lunch time and even though our wings took a while to come out, it was worth it because they were so hot and fresh. the fries didn't taste greasy and the light cajun seasoning was perfect. my fav thing about their wings is that the breading is really light and they don't skimp on the sauce! friendly service and yummy food 10/10

Service : staff was really friendly! I loved the cashier. She was patient, greeted me and made some great recommendations. Ambiance : family friendly - a good amount of seating for large and small groups Location : in a weird plaza but can easily be found behind the QT. Parking is weird but enough space. Food : I ordered the $11.99 special of the day (wings, tenders and side) Surprisingly I loved the tenders! And the wings tasted good. Sauce was great and tasty. Definitely unique and you can tell they have their own special recipes. Okra was fried to perfection! Overall will come back.

My first experience was great. I drove to the restaurant and got a to-go order. This time I called ahead which went smoothly. Pick up went without any issues and everything smelled great. However, this time around it seems there might be a different cook (or "seasoner") because I had entirely too much dry rub seasoning on my chicken. I had to mix it with some rice I had to lessen some of the salty taste. The chicken to seasoning ratio was probably 80/20. The fried Okra was great; it was well seasoned and crispy. Overall though, I enjoyed this meal far less than the first.

The food is fine if you are in the area and looking for a quick lunch or dinner. The dry rub is more of a slight spice in the dredge...not a traditional rub and fry. The Mac and cheese was great. The service at this location was perfect.

I foresee a re-branding in the near future. Anywho, it's not my investment money. I came with a group of co-workers on a Saturday evening last week for some socializing. This involved food for everyone but me since I arrived late and had already started my pre-party elsewhere - and why kill a good buzz!? I did arrive in time to see the food delivered and consumed and the burgers and loaded fries did look excellent. We started on the patio and moved inside for more drinking and to play pool. The place has all the standard attractions that a suburban bar & grill would have. Pool, video golf, sports on TV, a good speaker system, tons of neon bar signs and waitresses in skimpy outfits. Speaking of waitresses - ours was named Kylie and she was a hoot. A natural for the customer service industry. Funny, efficient and friendly. Would I go back? Sure, next time for food and hopefully Kylie will be our server again.

This restaurant is a gem and Chef Longres brings a dining experience that only few in the KC area can bring. Him and his staff's attention to detail, outstanding service, on top of incredible food should bring every Michelin Star, DiRona award, and James Beard award. You'll find very few restaurants in Kansas City that bring this quality, enthusiasm, and detail. The Hearth Experience elevates it even further. It was great seeing the same staff in the open concept, French Brigade kitchen after a year plus. You've got to be doing things great in this difficult industry to maintain that staff dedication. Plus on top of this Chef Longres is always keeping an eye out for kids and brings them back into the kitchen for a truly personal experience. They just don't make restauranteurs/chefs like that anymore. This place is well worth every penny. Had another phenomenal dinner and experience!

And it's further afield than we normally do for date night so it felt like a choice he wouldn't expect, which is how we roll. We arrived at about 6:30 on a Friday and it was pleasantly full but not crazy. I had reservations, obviously. The staff had all signed a nice postcard on the table to note his birthday. After we put in our drink order (he got an old-fashioned and I got a Dr Pepper, since I was driving), our server brought over two bottles of Prosecco, one being NA since she wasn't sure if I drank or not, and offered us a toast for his birthday. I thought it was a nice gesture. They ask that you put in your full order at the top of the meal so they can pace it properly. We started with the whipped goat cheese with brussels sprouts and fried saltines. An interesting dish and fun to see saltines reimagined as something high-end. He got their gigantic pork chop and I got a perfectly cooked and delicious KC strip with the creamiest mashed potatoes. I saw half butter and half cream and I thought, that's for me! Lol. That wasn't a cheap entree, but it did include a sauce (I got béarnaise) and a choice of side. I took more than half of my meal home. At that point, she brought out the dessert menu and Kyle decided on the flourless chocolate cake, which is one of his favorites, but that he often doesn't get at a restaurant because so many restaurants buy their stuff from Sysco now. And holy cow, it's the best dessert I've had in ages! A great reminder of how good a flourless chocolate cake can be. Anyway, I definitely would recommend Acre. They did a great job of making my fiance feel really special and just generally had terrific service and wonderful elevated food. Helpful hint: there is a $25pp no show fee on reservations, so be aware of that, and cancel at least 24 hours out if you think you might need to.

We ordered the Salmon & Shrimp Pasta, Shrimp Dinner, Mac & Cheese, Greens, Green Beans, and Fried Okra. The shrimp were large and succulent as good shrimp should be The Mac and cheese was definitely baked (saw it come out of the oven), it was smooth, creamy and had the perfect cheese flavor. The greens? OMG! These were better than my grandma's (forgive me grandma) they were perfectly seasoned and even had a spicy kick. Now the star of the meal was definitely the Salmon and Shrimp pasta. This was $30, but worth every penny. It could easily feed two, possibly three people. We could not get through it in one sitting. You get a large grilled salmon fillet, a nice amount of Cajun shrimp, and a load of penne pasta in this silky and flavorful cream sauce. This was a meal we definitely had leftovers from as they do NOT skimp on the portions. Even thought the food was great, the staff were what truly made it worthy of 5 stars. I made my order for an 11 AM pickup so it was right at open which gave me a chance to watch the kitchen in action. Every person was handling the preparation of something and they took complete ownership of their task and definitely wanted to present an exceptional product. I especiailly want to give a shout out to Toya who was leader of the team. I have been in twice now and every trip she is warm, welcoming, and a joy to deal with. Actually all the staff are. So my top tip is do not let the prices scare you, you get a lot and the food is excellent.

I am still genuinely befuddled at this Friday night dinner experience…read more I came in for a celebratory Hurricane since I'd heard these were great (and we loved their cocktails the last time) and a bite. The place was pretty empty which was unusual; the last time we came in I think was in December and it was slammed! It turns out they aren't serving alcohol right now (apparently an ownership change? I didn't get the full scoop) so that was the first let-down. So fine - I'll just have a bowl of the gumbo. For $29?! And some biscuits. The gumbo comes out in a cracked bowl with a cracked plate underneath and the 3 little crawfish on top are refrigerator cold. Granted, the actual gumbo was pretty solid with the right amount of heft and spice and depth, but even then the rice had some hard pieces in it like it was old. The biscuits aren't anything to write home about and the butter is just meh. I wouldn't spend my carbs there. On top of all that, the waitress literally couldn't be bothered that I existed. I had to pry to get a drink menu (which is when I found out they weren't serving any), I couldn't get any eye contact from her or any kind of friendliness, she asked me if I wanted them to "heat it up" when I told her about the crawfish, and then brought my bill when I hadn't even finished dinner without bothering to ask if I wanted any dessert. And on top of that, there was no mention at all about the dinner issues or any apology whatsoever. I don't need or want a meal comped but for over $40 for a bowl of gumbo and some biscuits (+ tax, tip, etc) I at least expect some acknowledgement or "hey, here's something nice we can do for you". We really enjoyed the last time we were here and this was a genuinely jarring experience compared to that. The place looks pretty rough right now - maybe this is one of those places that has the right vibe in the dark, but nothing felt right about it today, and I'm afraid I can't (won't) recommend it again.
